Dungeon Defenders II ist von einigen der besten Tower-Defense-Titeln inspiriert und vereint verschiedene klassische Elemente, wie Loot, Begleiter, eine breite Auswahl von spielbaren Helden und ein komplexes Levelsystem. Im Mittelpunkt des Spiels steht der Aufbau der eigenen Verteidigung, um die immer stärkeren Wellen von Feinden zu überstehen. Alleine lässt sich das allerdings kaum bewältigen. Die Spieler müssen gemeinsam agieren und eine Taktik entwickeln, um den Monstern die Stirn bieten zu können.

In Dungeon Defenders II können Spieler alleine oder mit bis zu drei Freunden gemeinsam antreten. Auf den Konsolen kann auch mit Splitscreen gemeinsam gespielt werden. Der Titel ist free-to-play und wird auf allen Plattformen In-Game-Käufe, wie neue Helden, Kostüme, Tower Skins, Begleiter und Inventarplätze, unterstützen.

Refunded 1 pack a year ago, got banned. As early access/deluxe Pre-order player with 400+ hours before it even was f2p.
Account suspended. Because I refunded 1 pack because It felt like scam. GG.

400+ hours, DD1, DDE and DD2 early player, pre-ordered, and everything.
THAT´s the philosophy behind the game company right now. Well, Dont buy the game guys.
These companies are lazy, srsly.
Not even legal, but who cares nowadays ;D

This Game could be nice, but fact is, you go into Dungeon and what u see is a hightier farming, so u just sand around and do nothing, get a full bunch of items come back to town sort your shity small inventory for hours cause u want the best stuff not to sell, make your hero stronger for hours and then you want play a match, but wait, allways you go into a map there is a hightier player, and you just stand there and do nothing again. get a bunch full of items and the shit start again!!!! no match macking, no normal groups, no fun anymore. pls do somthing about it! I deinstall this game even if i like the idea behind it. but not like this....

DAS SPIEL LÄST SICH EINFACH NICHT MEHR ÖFFNEN ich hatte es mal eine sher lange zeit gespielt und auf einmal konnte ich es nicht mehr öffnen ohne das es abkrazt troz merfachen neu instalieren.

Its a very very nice tower defense game. Very strategic and deep regarding tactics / counters and synergies. It is free to play however to get the shards you really need (destruction, defense rate and defense range) it is easier to just pay for some supporter package and buy the ones you want. This will jumpstart your game and it becomes doable solo and great fun in open teams. There are still many open games and ppl are friendly to help new players when they ask in those public play sessions.

You are correct, devs left the game and it is still christmas - but that means you get a free defender pack each day (under christmas tree) which means cosmetic things like wings, skins and pets are a free chance every 24 hours. I guess that is a great deal and is very rewarding. Also there are no more game breaking bugs and the game is very polished, there are options over options to optimize your characters and your gear which is a part why this game is so deep and strategic.

Would recommend to any tower defense fan. Sidenote - if you are new, need help and are eager to learn - watch juicebags dd2 on youtube, he has great guides for everything, it will help.

Der Anfang wird für Anfänger in solchen Games eventuell etwas schwer. Aber sobald man das Prinzip verstanden hat, ist das game super zum entspannt spielen. Gute Auswahl an Helden, viel Kosmetik, Sieht gut aus, Du kannst entscheiden entspannt farmen oder die schweren Modis spielen. Viele verschiedene Kombinationen von Helden ( Builds )..Und alles gut erreichbar Free2Play.

i love it! if you never played and dungeon defenders pls play dd2 if you love multiplayers and dd1 if you like to play solo most of the times :) all dd´s are awesome!!!!

Complete user experience nightmare. Cluttered interface, too many popup messages trying to show. The important things like pressing G written very small near the bottom somewhere while there is a blinking box showing with nothing in in and some message box near middle of the screen telling me to build something. This was in a private session with two people and we were forced to do the tutorial mission over and over and over. The cash shop can be found easily.
Total rubbish!

The missions that give you the Free real currency is bugged. and the bug report system is a crock of shit and a joke to try an navigate. Regret All the money i have spent on this game.

I'm torn between good and lacking, not sure if it's worth the time or not. + if you want additional characters that increase functionality in the game you have to pay for them because of GREED! I am saying this as they are all pay gated micro transactions to open new characters that change the game that are not necessary for anything more than greedy . (Not Pay to win, you can win this with most if not all characters). Has a base game cost that is reasonable. Then a VERY unreasonable cost to additional characters that you can't trial to even see if you like. I was NOT impressed by multiple paywalls for characters and no bundles in site. (characters cost way to much IMO. I loved this type of game and missed out because of paywalls)

Is it bad that I preferred the first one? The first one had a story and good game play like this one. But in the first one there was also a good part of the game where the Hero felt like a Hero rather than in this version the character simply built stuff and win or lose. But the character does not feel like it's a hero at all.

It looks a lot better than the first, but some how feels less fluid that the first.

I feel bad making this comment, but.

Not sure if this review will help anyone but with paywalls for characters and a lacking feeling I find this game sadly just not good. I will use the phrase SELL OUT.

Ah, the second of the two good DD games that TE ever released, DD:1 and DD:2. They've now resorted to squeezing the last of the money out of the whales defending the company, I wouldn't recommend any game other than this and DD:1.

I just tried this game because it was recommended for me from playing another game one steam.

It was free but the pain inflicted on me wasn't free...

I clicked the play button and it threw me into a battle. I got to 1 hp but then I clutched it out and I got to build turrets.

I put them backwards and was overtaken but I still managed to win once I unlocked the wizard.

My gf beat the first two levels effortlessly somehow....

Man when did gaming become so hard.

Really fun though.

1. game not optimized at all, eating CPU and GPU like crazy
2. after campaign there is no way to know for new players what to do, if you try new maps, you get wrecked because you're under-geared, but game doesn't tell you where to go next to get upgrades
3. there is no way to know how to encounter mini-bosses, unless you google how to kill them
4. items are big cluster-f*ck, random stats, random shard slot, random mod slot, bunch of item drops, unmanagable, need to spend a lot of time to review all the items in your inventory and equip/upgrade for all of your hero. ITS A MESS
5. there are weird point system, shards, talent points, but game doesn't tell you how to get them or use them
6. no player-base, game feels dead, it should be an offline game
7. there are so many currencies in the game, I have no idea why are they in the game other than gold
8. P2W is heavy with this game, you can buy anything. you can max out your heroes in few minutes with a swipe of a credit card, more money you put into the game, the stronger you become
9. items are dropping like crazy then the game tells you to buy new bag
10. UI navigation is bad
11. there are no quests, or atleast I haven't found them, there is no narrative or story the game follows, you are literally there alore and go figure
12. promotes gambling for children via loot-boxes (game is E10+). is that even legal?
13. minimum system requirements are fake, you can only launch the game with that system, but will be unplayable
14. lots of fake reviews on steam
!5. gold, ancient power, ascension points, shard, defender medals, ascension level, hero level, xp, ipwr, mod slot, talent cap, mist asc level... go figure what they are for or what can you do with them because the game wont tell you and only the gold convinient, everything else is cluster-f*ck

Even though the first game wasn't perfect, it was enjoyable, but let's focus on this one.
At first, it was good but this type of grinding started to get stressful, and it gets worse every second, the number of items exceeds the base inventory and they only give you gems ONCE, the defenders medals you get winning maps is nothing compared to the ones you need even with daily missions, to upgrade shards you need ten of the SAME TYPE and a lot of gold. I wanted to spend money to buy skins, but I lost interest, and the last Achievement is just mean and killed my love for DD2 also the Harpy's Perch is really bad an unforgivable sin 0/10

I played this game's predecessor so much on mobile. Sadly by the time this came available on PC my time and focus had gone elsewhere. I was involved in the alpha of this game and would highly recommend it, I still have it downloaded. Hoping to play it someday soon. There is something so rewarding about how Dungeon Defenders mashes together tower defense and RPG genres.

Game is Free to Play... So why haven't you tried it already?

if you like extremely grindy and repetitive semi-afk games, ignore all thumbs down and try this game. It's more of a numbers/stats and resource farming game than an actual tower defense, so if you want true TD feel with combat skill focus, there are better options. Join the official Discord for all kinds of help and guide. F2P is fine but the one or two free inventory bags will NOT be a pleasant experience in the long term.
The best thing about this game is the co-operative ecosystem- Stronger player assists weaker players getting up the ladder, get help, then help others.

Overall a solid game with great potential, good for those with lot of time to kill. If you can't play this for like 2-4 hours a day, you're better off,
(i'm writing this review after 32 prestige and 600 hours of playtime, at which point I can carry others in any mode and have basically reached the beginning of the endgame.)

Dungeon Defenders II offers the same unique blend of action RPG and tower defense games of its predecessor while adding some new features that deepen the experience. The tower defense elements are still more important than the action RPG ones, but there's still plenty to keep fans of both genres engaged. Things, however, can get grindy if you want to unlock everything without spending money, so don't expect the experience to feel fresh if you plan on doing so.

I played this game at launch and it was pretty disappointing. I can't say anything about the current state of the game, but as a big fan of the original I can't recommend this. It missed the mark on the vibes and the amount of content. Feels way slower paced/more repetitive.

Again, it's been quite a few years so I can't say whether or not it improved on this since I initially played.

While the game isn't abandoned (there's a loyal fanbase who have been playing for years and are already leveled up and pay for the extras) I just can't recommend this game based on the constant crashing and the fact that almost no one plays at the lower levels.

I was an avid lover of the original Dungeon Defenders and played it on both PC and Playstation 3. However, DD2 seems to miss the mark. It's all about level grinding for the right shards and that can cause players to literally sit in a level for hours just replaying the same level trying to get those pieces. DD2 also seems to crash every hour or so due to some fatal exception that keeps occurring. It's happening on both my PC builds that are completely different PC's so I know it's not specific to the machine it's running on. Also, about half the time you'll be playing by yourself because there literally won't be anyone on to play with at your level even if you've got the game set to play any level where others are playing.

I really wanted to like DD2 since I loved the first one so much, but it's a definite pass. I'd say just replay the original DD for nostalgia.

Recommended for fans of Dungeon Defenders, RPGs, and Tower Defense. The Free-to-play elements keep it from being as good as the first one, but it is still hours of fun and easy to convince a few pals to join you when the cost is free.

Endless hours of fun until my account was wiped due to a loot table change near the release of the game. I honestly love this hack and slack tower defense style game but I cannot play this anymore. All the game is now is premium gambling or $20 costumes. Used to be fun before $ very obviously became a primary concern vs content and development. DD1 will always be the best.

One of the most annoying games I have ever come across. I really really want to like it, I really like the idea of tower defense coupled with a feeling of an RPG. But this game, it does the most important things all wrong.

Basically if you play the game you will either play alone or with other players. If you play alone you will have a VERY difficult time clearing missions because the game is balanced for having more players, also for some insane reason you only get like 1/8'th of the loot and xp by clearing missions by yourself? what??

But if you play with other players then almost every time the game is so easy that you don't have to do anything at all. Just wait until the map is finished basically. Because almost every game like that for some reason has an incredibly overpowered player there that has towers that instakills everything.

So basically sit and watch other people destroy the enemies while just afk'ing or take 20 times longer to progress. What in the everloving F

Of course it's also pay to win, lets just add that too, even though that's the norm with free games like this.

They have added amazing new content and some genuinely great quality of life and fan service content BUT the game has become so needlessly complicated and reliant on intense micro management and grinding, that it becomes a complete chore and feels more like punishment than a game/rewarding experience/form of escape and fun etc.

There's so much to love about this game but it's becoming way too difficult to keep up with and invest into this. You will never get more than 25 medals per map, even if you're on the triple digits of Onslaught floors too.

I would be a lot more forgiving if there were still not severe issues with frequent crashing, performance issues, choppy/rubber band lag and guaranteed disconnects every time you play.

The party system is very flawed and thee's still not direct way to add players as friends onto Steam despite the game running through Steam.

I really love some of the content added into this game over the years, it has amazing character design, soundtrack, art style and some of the heroes are extremely fun to play especially the Gunwitch! I absolutely adore the new skin for her for the Wild West update as well as Wild West Themed update and the new map and such though! I also adored the Dryad/Terraria update with it's new map, the pirate update and the update from last April but there's only so much I can tolerate/forgive/overlook before a line gets crossed that I go back on.

This game and it's fans, the community deserve so much better. The fact we will never be getting the Countess (Female Squire equivalent from DD1) despite her amazing concept design/art and thus the Ranger (Male Huntress equivalent from DD1) in this game makes me extremely heartbroken and angry. I was really looking forward to her being added one day, I held on in vain hope for years and these updates gave me some faint hope on top of that but it really does seem like she is never being added due to certain reasons now sadly.

Oh a final note, removing some certain shards for absolutely no reason and making one purely exclusive to Xbox is a completely terrible and unfair move. I had forgotten about them and luckily was reminded of it recently. You may do a LOT of things right Chromatic (formerly Trendy) but you have done and still do SO MUCH WRONG too. And it far outweighs the good unfortunately. The sheer greed and exploitation of this game and laziness with the actual technical side of it, the improvements of it vs the constant desire to make us to grind more, make the game more complicated/convoluted, tedious, ludicrous and such is very abhorrent.

I really want to love this game, it deserves so much better and so do we. But that's exactly why with a hand on a heavy heart, I cannot recommend it despite wanting to so much.

A lot of people still really enjoy, get immersed and even obsessed and addicted to this and that's fair on them, you might be the same and all the more power to you. There's still a valid game in there that you can play for free but you will have to spend a lot of money ideally to truly not suffer in this game either.

The fact that Tinkering can only be done with medals or gems is completely disgusting imo and the material shop is grossly overpriced and exploitative too.

I will stop now as I will keep going on my problems with this game , I've said my peace and I hope it is of use to anyone who reads this.

I remember endless hours of fun playing Dungeon Defenders as a kid, and I distinctly remember DD2 being a massive disappointment.
For a number of years, Trendy completely abandoned the game, I came back to try it out again since there was new content added, and quickly I was reminded why I quit this horrid thing. Microtransactions.

Dungeon Defenders 2 is riddled with MTX, everything from power to cosmetics can be bought with premium currency, and they make this very apparent that you're suppose to be spending your money on it with how insane prices are for some things without giving them your credit card.

Relatively an old game. Optimization ain't good, UI works, but feels clunky. Gameplay is still pretty fun though, especially with friends. There's still a grind involved, and the game doesn't make it easy to figure out what to do next, so some guides could help.

Overall pretty fun, expect some clunkiness here and there and not good optimization, but that's mostly because an old game. Seems abandoned due to the newer Dungeons Defender (DDA), but you still find players in public taverns, and there's a discord too.

Hmm....Look at my game play hrs on record...do I recommend this game...YES, I still enjoy the game from time to time and keep coming back, its got lots of grind that will keep you occupied for 100s of hours searching for all the goodies within the game in order to progress throughout the entire game. The game helped me meet so many great gaming friends, eternally greatful!!:)

No no no no no no no.
This game has so much promise, there are enemies you have to build specific ways to counter, bosses that prevent you from just sitting there and afking, and lots of variety in how to approach each map. Until you finish progressing through the chaos tiers and realize what you need to do to push the mid-game. This game is a soulless grind-fest. It is both expensive and time consuming to upgrade your shards and mods, so it is economical to focus on a relic for one strong defense (it'll probably be a flame aura), which you'll then spam a bunch until you have enough gold and materials and mods to do something else.

I gave this game a try after DDA, running out of content with it, and was pleasantly surprised, there's just a very prevalent empty feeling of grinding for little reward and wondering what you're doing with your life.

Could've been the best DD game.. But sadly it falls into a deep dark pit of stupid choices by the devs.. P2W, Horribly grindy, nerfed heroes and meta builds.. I absolutely hate leaving this negative review cause i love this game.. but there's just so many flaws, maybe the dev team can fix them now that they've jumped back on the game?, or just add more petty bundles to squeeze more juice from a dying lemon

Dungeon Defenders II is a vast improvement over the previous game, even with its move to a free-to-play model. Sure, it may take some time to unlock the new heroes with in-game currency, but the option is there for those that don't want to spend money. Even with the UI shortcomings and the tutorials being out of date with the current version of the game, Dungeon Defenders II is quite enjoyable. The colorful visuals and stylized characters are a joy to play.

Would have recommended this game but this game did me dirty... I bought some in game things and the server crashed. (it crashes often between loading screens with fatal error). Came back to nothing I bought in my inventory and all my ingame currency gone. I sent a ticket in but nothing has happened and customer service is non existent. I used to really enjoy this games grind but now its really frustrating that I been basically been robbed and the company wont do anything. This games also rarely gets any updates if your used to updates and most of the games UI is very buggy and unrefined. Would rate this game and my experience 4/10.

This game was so good that I put over 1000 hours into it and worked so hard to get lvl 10 mods for my stuff. They then decide to put out an update that makes all the stuff I worked so hard for weak and useless. Please give me my reflect beams back I put so much time into making them perfect and pushing onsl for 999 caps. 80% reduced is a big slap in my face after putting so much time and money into your game. You have ruined the whole game please revert this update everything was better off before this so called dev team. The game is better when you are stronger please give us our strength back

The game has changed so much since I first played it. New players have no reason to play something as convoluted as this. There is essentially no player feedback now, and there are so many options available to players, it would be impractical for a new player to learn. Honestly, I wish I had never played to begin with.

Paywalled game, with much grind, no instruction, it was fun at the begining, but when you havent played it for quite some time there is no way to be back into the gamey any more - you cannot even pass simple maps alone, and to do anything you need to grind or pay. Not only that, this game looks abandoned by devs.

Dungeon Defenders has been one of my favorite Tower Defense game series for a while I return at random intervals to see the new content (which is slow coming so the breaks can be quite long).

Major Con in DD2: It's gets very grindy trying to muddle thru the massive pile of useless junk you get while spend days farming for a single upgrade.. I certainly do not recommend attempting to keep up with the solo crowd unless you have endless free time. With every patch all that gear will end up nerfed and you get to start over, one of the worst parts of so many MMOs your time invested is simply disposable when they have some new idea for a mechanic or expansion.

That aside for casual play this is just as fun as the last two DD titles, a wonderful tower defense game, and sitll more fun than the disaster of a DD1 reboot they released just don't invest too hard into min/maxing and don't expect major content updates.

A lot of people seemed to dislike this game I personally found it to be fun and enjoyable, however the devs have decided to ditch the game in favor of the newest game and haven't updated it since christmas 2019 the map has been on the christmas event for two years so I strongly suggest against spending your time getting into it

My friends and I played this game for over 150 hours, one of them played when the game was paid access before going FTP. EVERYTHING the devs have done to this game has been nothing more than a slap in hr face to the players and the name that this game used to have. We refuse to touch the game after the rework update, literally every minute of grinding we did was wasted and thrown away, and now looks like the devs have forgotten about the game altogether. #DeadGame

I'm not so into tower defense games myself, but as far as they go, this one was pretty good. You don't have to just build turrets/walls/traps, you can run around and attack the enemies themselves which is nice. The different characters you can choose from each bring their own playstyle into the game, rather than just a cosmetic difference. If you're into tower defense games and a friend isn't really, try getting them to try this - that's how I ended up playing it.

I really love this game. A lot of fun. That being said Trendy is an ass company. They've completely abandoned this game and even left this game on its Christmas patch... I want to give this game a thumbs up and this shit ass company a thumbs down. If you like playing some games for the grind then you're going to feel right at home with this one. It's not too different from the first game to not feel like a sequel, but still feels different enough to bring some interesting changes to the table. The grind is real though, but like the first, half the fun is the game play, the other half is watching your stats climb.

basically used to grind the living soul out of this game on console.
honestly the game is fun and you can sink a lot of time into it but it really is only suited to people who truly enjoy grinding as you will find yourself doing the same thing over and over and over and over again until you have somewhat gotten what you wanted.
seemingly, the game is not getting any frequent updates as well as still has glitches and bugs that have remained for a few years.
finally, what i would recommend is that if you are looking for a game to sink a lot of time into, maybe think twice on this game but if you are looking for a chill game to play on occasion, this is a good game to do so.

really good, free to play game. doesn't require a powerful pc to play. There are any missions to play and it doesn't take to much effort to level your heros up. however when first learning how to play the game and how to progress it is quite difficult to know where to go and what to do. the game is easily playable for free but you do have the option of paying for certain thing to progress faster and become more powerful

While i can't say its a bad game, the fact it is free the devs just when crazy on the micro transactions!
The gameplay overall is pretty good, short campaign that push you toward other modes that mostly require a full team. Expeditions are fun but either player database is very limited or nobody are doing those.
Chaos levels are super hard to start with unless you have a high ranked player with you

All and all, game mainly focus on co-op & micro transactions but there are just not any players to play with making 90% of the game pretty hard on solo.

now it's free and i got nothing for it

has a few fun boards, but it's so lackluster compared to the first one. go play DD 1 instead, that's a fun game, they really messed up with this attempt at a sequel.

I Feel like i'm lost in the game and lost track of where i was after a long time that i join back the game in my time we only had harbinger and the wyvern nowday there are 2 many different stuff and 2 many difficulties, the grind is fun due at the end of the day all of your characters will benefit from it but i don't knwo where to start and what to do , i just log in and clear old levels on higher difficulty just to get the extra levels for talents ...
