Pretty game and the voice acting is nice but that's pretty much it.
Short game if you don't want all the achievements.
If you get it at a good discount it's not bad
My biggest issue with it is I guess the hitbox of enemies. Like if you don't hit them in the center of if you take damage and you have the stupidest way to kill enemies so you will take damage.
For a more enjoyable time, do it on Easy. On easy enemies deal half damage and you have infinite continues when you die.

The controls handle perfectly, with very few situations where you feel a lost life was unfair or out of your control. The new soundtrack sounds great, some highlights would be the Main Menu theme and the new rendition of the track that plays on The Moon level. If the new stuff is not your style, you can unlock the 8-Bit OST. The voice-acting is a great feature, having most of the original voice cast reprising their roles. The graphics look lovely and have a timeless feel.
In terms of negatives, the length is one. Despite having some tricks up its sleeve, Ducktales: Remastered can still be a short experience for those who have played the original (not including additional playthroughs for achievements). The only other issue I have is when pogo-bouncing, landing on the edge of a platform could cause the bouncing to end, which can be quite annoying on later levels and higher difficulties.
That being said, I can't recommend it at $14.99, so wait for a sale. It's a very charming game with some good humor and a lot of love put into it. There's good fun to be had with this game, and it's well worth it at the right price.

Edit: If you have kids, it might be a good buy after all (even at $15). I’ve done all challenges except the two last ones (pogo jump in jungle and game at extreme) pretty quickly, like in 2h, but since then, my kids have played this game for like 20+ hours!

You pretty much can't go wrong with this one, if you like platformers it's a no brainer. If you have Nvidia however I hear theres an issue that makes the game unbeatable but I'm not sure how true that is because I have AMD. Just be careful

Besides a gorgeous coat of paint to help catch the game up to the 21st century, several additions in terms of content are also very welcome. The in-game cutscenes provide some much appreciated storyline/context to make more sense of the game's events. Most bosses have had attacks added, with some also requiring entirely different strategies to make them more interesting. The remaster also adds two brand new stages, those being the prologue stage at the beginning, and the new final stage after beating the first five stages (the original merely has you revisit Transylvania after beating the five main levels). Also, after clearing the game, all seven stages can be revisited to make Scrooge McDuck even richer... and his riches serve a purpose beyond just being a high score this time: you can spend his money on various pieces of concept art, character portraits, sketches, music, and more in the gallery. Aside from what I found to be one unfair attack during the final boss battle, I come away with no complaints... this is a very thorough and well done remake.
For those with less capable hardware like myself, I was able to play it on a relatively low power laptop (Intel i3 2.2 Ghz processor, Intel HD 5500 graphics, 4 GB available RAM), with a noticeable drop in frame rate only temporarily during the Mine stage. Aside from that, the game played very smoothly.

The levels you have access to originally are fine, and then you arrive at the final stage. The final stage is full of more glitches and bugs than enemies. It's like playing a giant glitch that has a game hiding somewhere within. The hit-boxes are embarrassing, the design is embarrassing, every aspect of the final level is a disgrace that ruins this game. Beating this game requires a degree of effort that the devs themselves weren't ready to commit to developing the game, so neither am I.

(Probaly going to update this review the more I play this)
Biggest problem I had was hitboxes. Every now and then they can be a bunch of bullshit. A great example is either spikes in Mount Vesuvius where the hitbox starts instantly after platform or spiked plants in Amazon. In both examples oversized hitbox causes damage when you are touching air not the spike that would logically cause damage. Some enemies also have slightly oversized hitboxes resulting in damage from not hitting the fucker.
Another problem I have is Scrooge not grabbing chains every now and then resulting in a fall usually to death. For some reason chains seem to have problems while ropes do not. This itself doesn't matter that much but for me it always happens at the end of Mount Vesuvius.
Skruuge go boink with a stick and then enemy do funni flip.

Is it challenging? No not really, the difficulty is nowhere near Spelunky, Cuphead or Meatboy.
But fun? Yeah, it's ok for a while. And like I said, good game for the kids who aren't old enough just yet for the 'murder-your-son-in-law-politics' of Crusader Kings. This'll hold them over 'till they're about 8 or 9 :)

Played through the entire game, reached the final boss, beat him, and the game froze. Oh well, it happens I guess, let's try again. Beat the boss, game froze. Went to the forums to file a bug report and see if others are experiencing issues. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED REPEATEDLY SINCE 2013. Seven years with a recurrent and reproducible bug and still no patch. I mean, come on. I am usually very lenient when it comes to bugs but this is too much. Whatever quick fix you have, no matter how lazy it is, is better than just leaving it as is. Remove the cutscene causing it entirely! Replace it with a text popup.
Come to think of it, I think I now understand why it's 75% off.

The game is quite good looking compared to the original but the artwork seems unfinished. The characters have no speaking animations and environments are repetitive and not that detailed.
Gameplay is a bit smoother than in the original, but still the enemy hitboxes are vague and you get plenty of unexpected hits before learning it. The pointless dialogs stop the action very often and quickly makes you feel uneasy and annoyed.
With some additional detail and development this might be a very good game, but as it is at this time, I can not recommend it. There are some many better quality competitors out there.

This one here checks the nostalgia box for sure with the sound and animations.
The whole game just feels right.
Untill you come to Dracula.
Formerly one of the quite easy bossfights here you have the challenges of wobbly bat movement and their small hitboxes.
Well and that you get damaged sometimes when you jump onto them with your stick.
I just quit the Dracula fight it was frustrating and annoying to run into those bugs repeatedly.

Information / Review English
DuckTales: Remastered Jump & Run classic, which was developed by WayForward.
Gameplay / Story
DuckTales Remastered is a classic 2D platformer with the use of side scrolling. You move Dagobert Duck running and jumping through different levels. You defeat opponents and collect items such as ice cream cones (give the player a life back), cakes (complete healing), small crystals (give the player $ 2,000), large crystals (give the player $ 10,000), red-colored crystals (give the player 50,000 Dollars), hidden treasures (giving the player $ 1,000,000) and some more.As a weapon, the player has a pogo stick. By pressing the B button (Game Boy) or pressing the B button and simultaneously pressing the lower button of the control pad on the NES controller, Dagobert uses it as a jump aid in order to be able to jump higher and thus get to higher places can. In addition, opponents can be defeated with the pogo stick by jumping on them with the player or otherwise damaging them, for example by throwing blocks by simultaneously pressing the right or left button and the B button Opponent throws. If the player jumps on an obstacle with the pogo stick, it is destroyed. The game is divided into five different levels: Amazonia, Transylvania, the African mines, the Himalayas and the moon, whereby the player can decide in which order he will tackle the levels. At the end of each level, the player has to defeat a boss who needs a particularly high number of hits to be defeated. In the African mines and the moon, a so-called hidden treasure can be found, which earns the player one million points when collecting it (a gold ring in the African mines or a gold mirror on the moon). You can also speak to Quack, the break pilot, once in each level, who will bring the player back to the level selection screen if desired. This has the advantage that all money collected in the level is transferred to Scrooge's account and the player can play the level again to potentially collect more money. If the player on the moon agrees that Quack should bring Dagobert back to the level screen, the player reaches a kind of special level in which he walks on clouds and can collect as many crystals until he falls off.
Pro
+ lovingly refreshed graphics
+ cute animated characters
+ great remixes of the original pieces of music
+ successful English dubbing with original speakers
+ exciting boss fights
+ Achievements and trading cards
Contra
- annoying time pressure section in the last level
- Pogo and climbing controls sometimes fiddly
- The simple level design looks outdated
Conclusion
Childhood dreams come true with this lovingly refreshed NES classic, even if the controls leave a lot to be desired in some passages. Clear buy recommendation.
Information / Review Deutsch
DuckTales: Remastered Jump & Run Klassiker, welcher von WayForward entwickelt wurde.
Gameplay / Story
- simples Leveldesign wirkt angestaubt
Fazit
Kindheitsträume werden mit diesem liebevoll, aufgefrischten NES-Klassiker wahr, auch wenn die Steuerung in manchen Passagen zu wünschen übrig lässt. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Everyone can enjoy this, but at the same time everyone can hate this, cause this game have some hard things.
IMPORTANT: Dont buy this if you get angry easily, you might break something while playing this.

DuckTales: Remastered faithfully recreates the original game while adding a bunch of extras. The visuals, of course, are modern and quite lovely, with 2D characters on a 3D background. Audio is also tremendously improved, and includes voiced dialog by (most of) the original series voice actors. Even Scrooge himself, Alan Young, returned once more to the role just a few years before he died.
It remains a challenging game that I still haven't finished. The gameplay is relatively simple, as one would expect from something originally released in 1989. You can jump, climb, bounce on your cane like a pogo stick, use your cane to strike certain objects, either breaking them or causing them to move, aaaand... that's about it, really. Still, there's nothing wrong with simplicity if the formula works, and I'm happy to say it does.
Give it a try if you enjoy platformers, but be aware of its limits; there's no dashing or pewpew abilities or powerups. Younger adult players might even be bored by it—/shrug—but older folks will likely find it an enjoyable dose of nostalgia.
EDIT: I forgot kids exist. They might like it too, especially as part of a progression from simpler games like Castle of Illusion, which I also recommend.

This review is based on a little over 2 hours of game play which was enough to get through the first four levels with two levels left one from the original game and one new to the remastered. I had never played the original so this was my first experience with this game.
Pros:
- Very upbeat and enjoyable music
- Very nice artwork it was just like watching the show
- Great voice acting, All of the characters original voice actors are in it and everything seems narrated.
- Steam Achievements
- Steam Trading Cards
- Lots of collectibles that will take several playthroughs to complete.
- Multiple Difficulties
Cons:
- It isn't always apparent when a bosses attack pattern is going to change (this is just nit picking though as this game comes from the era when games didn't handhold and pamper you, when they were meant to be hard)
- It really will take a lot of play through to get enough coins to grab all of the collectibles.
Opinion:
- Overall I really enjoyed this game. The two hour review is a limit I placed on myself to work through my insane backlog. However I will definitely go back and not only finish the game but probably try and get all of the achievements in the future. Highly recommend.

Ducktales is one of the best platformers on the NES. Yes, it is that good. It's incredible that a video game based on a cartoon from the late 80's turned out to be this good. It's a tough game, and it does suffer from some NES-era game design (unfair enemy placement, few checkpoints, etc.) but it's still mostly fair and and a great experience for any fans of NES-era platformers.
I'm happy to report that Ducktales Remastered lives up to the original.
It's a bit easier, there are a couple of levels that are new to this version, and it now has updated graphics and music, as well as a story complete with voice-acting from the cast of the original cartoon series, but for the most part it is the same game from 1989. And that's a good thing. It allows both veterans of the classic game as well as new players to enjoy this title. My only issue is that because it is a remake of a game from when games were only a few hours long at most, it's very short by today's standards. That being said, there are in-game collectibles that you could spend hours upon hours trying to get, so there is incentive to play the game even after you beat the main story.
I don't like giving a numerical score for these reviews. I believe games are too subjective to quantify the quality of. That being said, I highly recommend Ducktales Remastered. If you're a fan of the classic game or the original series, you're sure to feel overwhelming nostalgia. If you're a fan of the rebooted cartoon series, it's a great way to take an updated look at the series' history (plus they reference this game a lot in the new show, so some of those references will make a bit more sense). And if you're a fan of NES-era platformers, this game should have a spot on your shelf as one of the best.

I hope we get a remake of Duck Tales 2 eventually with Way Forward at the helm again.
If they show the level of care to art, voice acting, and design I expect another fantastic experience
Play the original, love it, and then play this remake and love the updates and care to detail while updating things just right

I really, REALLY liked the original NES title so seeing this Remastered version... I was smiling ear to ear when I first started up the game. Gotta love this version of the main title! The rearranged versions of all the tracks of the game... the designers took no prisoners when they set out to tune up the NES game. Listen to the new version of The Moon theme... and you KNOW you're in for the adventure of a lifetime!
I MIGHT gripe that there are times that the difficulty spikes through the roof in the infamous Capcom fashion. Maybe I'm too lazy or something, but difficulty spikes don't really qualify for replay value.
However, the music and the graphics are really immersive and the control is as good as it ever was in this game. I personally felt I was with Scrooge all the way. Despite the some ridiculously frustrating stage design elements I can't really fault this game.
If you're into old-school platforming, do yourself a favor and grab this one!
