The driving is appallingly bad, both on controller and wheel. I'm not sure which this game is meant for, but it feels like anything you do is being fought. The physics is bizarre and unpredictable on top. Rather than do full simulation or full arcade, it invents some unknowable ruleset that makes driving thoroughly unenjoyable and unlearnable.
As someone who often customizes more than drives, you don't get much there either.

What the fu...
* Run's like a pig.
* Looks like a free mod.
* You drive on gokart track.
* Very few cars and tracks.
* Cars handling is all over the place.
** You can make endless donuts with zero steering input.
** You understeer then over steer then put that on repeat.
How much is this game again?!!!

I rate for motorsport a 7/10 so to be on par with that game it just shows what i mean. Def buy this if you are a true car enthuist that loves building cars and then taking them out on your own tunes.
The tracks are also great! i love them and the graphics are perfect.
They keep and keep adding on! if any devs are reading this please dont stop adding content and maybe consider maybe creating a unlocked stock ecu or chipped to a piggy back to a full standalone ecu. Then let use tune our timing and afr and egt and boost control and all. If you dont tune it right you knock tf out of it say on a 30psi stock block run and then it blows. I think this would insanely add a hugeeeee part to the game! alot of people are catching onto the ecu tuning scene no compajnys done it et and i tihnk it would make this game blow up all over the internet

My specs are 10600KF, 32GB DDR4, and the game is installed on SSD. Forza4 loads faster. Assetto Corsa Competizione loads faster and in-game transitions are lightning fast. AMS2 has better performance. Even Cyberpunk is faster, for God's sake.
I can tolerate some jankiness if the game is decent, as with Nacon's racing games, but this is literally unacceptable.

It would be nice to see lifetime of parts implemented, so basic parts should be replaced more often.
The menu system is also time consuming, I'd rather use the wheel menu after clicking on the outline to select other types of parts, than having to mash enter for every new part that is not on the floor already.
Time attack mode?! forget it, the physics are just not for that. Drifting is spot on, sounds should be improved though.
Otherwise an honest little game for a few hours of relax. I'm going to look back to it time to time.

Original Review - graphics are awesome and the cars look sick but there are drawbacks like really bad physics (feels like ice skating), when you pull the handbrake it fully ruins the drift because it accelerates you away from the track. also it doesnt run great on a rtx2070 super for some reason it frame drops like crazy

-Great concept.
-Super chill game.
-Multiplayer.
Cons
-Horrible physics.
-Horribly designed challenges.
-Challenges are the main source for income.
-Horrible steering mechanics that limit the ability to properly control the vehicles.
-Don't think the devs researched any real world drifting, or even proper real world driving mechanics.

i just want to bring my opinion to this game in this little thread.
At first i have to say i'm a reallife Tracksay-Drifter so a little bit of basic konwledge of drifting is aviable :D
I watched some Videos on Youtube and i really wasnt sure how to think about this game. Today i bought it and i was giving it a try.
The Handling of the stock Cars is pretty wired, ( i play with a xbox gamepad) not because of the physics its more the movement speed of the steering wheel. i think its a bit to slow.
But then the first modifications came to the littel mx5, i was like WOW, there are FMIC Parts and all the Cars are licensed, its great. also the Tracks are ok ( i didnt have many at this time wich i have access to :D)
But most of it it brings the spirit of Drifing perfect into your living room, you feel every litte change you make to oyur car. Also the working on the car is awesome, yout have to take your time on working on it, to know your car better and better, and u also loose the parts und search for it wich was 10 seconds ago in your hand :D
I love the cars, most of them u can see also in real life when u go on trackday events, thats really cool.
this game has really a bunch of potential but its not perfect.
my wihlitst for the future:
BMW cars with non M Parts, not much drifters can afford M-BMW Cars
allow the players to drive with incomplete cars, like with no lights and stuff
Bash Bars for the Cars
allow Wheelspacers on wheelspacers :D
dont restrict wheel sizes to cars (just let us try 19 inch on mx5 :D)
maye a cosmetic damage model, i never saw driftcars in that perfect condition
I wish there was the PS-Racing Center Greinbach from Austria as Track aviable wehre the DMEC was drifing a couple weeks ago.
all i can say is that u can buy this game with no regret, it takes a littel time to get the cars drifting as they should but its cool. u can spend hours and hours to get the car to your preferences but u should bring a bit of knowledge what every part does to a car.
i love it, thanks for bringing this game here on steam.

Drift21 is a different game compared to anything ive ever played. It is NOT perfect, it is great, but there is still huge potential as the game updates. It has a wonderful mix of immersive drifting, which i personally find much more challenging than games such as CarX, as well as a similar wrenching style to Car Mech Sim.
If youre looking for a game that provides a satisfying and non-overwhelming wrenching experience, in which you get to actually drive and feel the car you build, i def recommend Drift21.

if you're playing this with a wheel you won't even have full rotation.
I only have 90 degrees on each side,(but my wheel isn't set to 180 automatically), I can't get the FFB to work, and I accidentally played the game for 2 hours so now I can't get a refund.
2/10 would not play again.

????Positive Aspects:
- Licensed vehicle models.
- Detailed engine built mechanics.
- Acceptable drifting physics.
????Negative Aspects:
- Initial starting money does not offer enough to play around with various engine templates which leads to barely getting into competitions.
- Game feels a lot like Diesel Brothers or Car Mechanic Simulator.
▶️Introduction
DRIFT21 is a unique game that offers a complete look at the tuning car community. What do I mean with that? You will have to work on your own engine, basically like a traditional Car Mechanic Simulator game and on the other hand, you will have the option to drive your own masterpiece of a “racecar” aka oldbox with a big wing. The game was developed by ECC GAMES S.A. and published by 505 Games.
Release Date : 7th May, 2020
Last known update: 04.11.2020
????Small-talk:
Is this game another mediocre Russian Drift “Sim” or is this game actually something unique?
Smalltalk
At first I was a little worried, some years ago I reviewed a game called FURIDASHI: Drift Cyber Sport that later on got another release called RDS - The Official Drift Video-Game which was basically the same game with recycled items and assets despite being a decent game. To add up on that, the mechanic stuff presented really reminded me of the Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator which was another recycle Car Mechanic Simulator. Still DRIFT21 feels like a rather unique game compared to all the others mentioned above.
????Gameplay:
Basically, DRIFT21 achieves the title of “rather unique” in my opinion as it does things in a different manner.
Drifting/driving mechanics:
Well, if you thought that I wouldn’t talk about the drifting mechanics of a drifting game you would be dead wrong. Truth be told I wouldn’t call it a realistic drifting experience which means that I wouldn’t consider it a simulator. The cars feel pretty unbalanced most of the time, when braking and accelerating the vehicle feels way to light, that’s not really the problem, the problem is inconsistency because when turning the cars feel like Vans where the sudden wheel correction towards the other side of the turn will throw you out of the track because all of the weight shift towards the outside of the turn. Some really positive aspects are the very good sensation of speed, that might be because the tracks are so tiny but it always felt as if I was speeding down a highway instead of a 300m straight line. Luckily the game has the manual transmission option as a default which is always a major advantage in my opinion. Especially in a drifting game, you will need to have control over the gears in order to maintain the high torque numbers. Running down the gears with a Keyboard, XBOX One controller and a Thrustmaster T150 wheel felt smooth as silk.
Car-mechanic gameplay:
As mentioned beforehand, this aspect of the game really reminds me of 2 games and it’s pretty obvious. The games I was talking about are Car mechanic simulator games and the Diesel Brothers game. There honestly isn’t much to write about this aspect as DRIFT 21 is just a watered-down version of these games as far as mechanical stuff goes. You basically screw and unscrew certain things in a specific order just like you would in real life. It sure is a very good experience but it is slowly getting overused. The only real difference is that you have a huge variety of parts to choose from which means that you can finally build your own totally unique engine, what do I mean by that? Well, I guess nobody has seen an Inline 6 Turbo MX-5 am I right?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2271985824
Other aspects:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2271985728
????Graphics / Audio:
The game isn’t something amazing visually but it sure beats out its competitors like RDS and FURIDASHI as far as visual fidelity goes. The lighting is well made with nice reflections on some surfaces, one small problem was the smoke, no matter how good of a drift I would make the smoke particles were barely visible.

⚙️Performance:
In Game:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 X (4,5 Ghz), 32GB Ram (3200Mhz), Nvidia RTX 2070 Super (8GB):I was running the game on Maxed out settings 1080p with more than 140fps without any problems.
- AMD Ryzen 5 3500 U, 16(14)GB Ram (2666Mhz),Vega 8(2GB): I was running the game on Low-Medium settings 720p with around 35fps without any major problems.
Benchmarks:
I was using MSI Afterburner as my benchmark tool:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 X (4,5 Ghz), 32GB Ram (3200Mhz), Nvidia RTX 2070 Super (8GB): Drift21 benchmark completed, 27901 frames rendered in 177.265 s Average framerate : 157.3 FPS Minimum framerate : 129.7 FPS Maximum framerate : 241.7 FPS 1% low framerate : 112.1 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 95.4 FPS
- AMD Ryzen 5 3500 U, 16(14)GB Ram (2666Mhz),Vega 8(2GB): Drift21 benchmark completed, 8694 frames rendered in 231.141 s Average framerate : 37.6 FPS Minimum framerate : 26.5 FPS Maximum framerate : 65.4 FPS 1% low framerate : 23.6 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 16.8 FPS
⚖️Conclusion:
DRIFT21 isn’t an amazing game as it still is in Early Access, yet it still isn’t a bad game at all, it’s probably the best Drift only racing game as far as driving goes yet it lacks or disappoints in some other features, for example the lack of Online games or perhaps a race with opponents on the same track, not major problems but some small dings that will hopefully be taken care of in the future. Still, I had a lot of fun.

-Car building A+ (i am a mechanic and to be honest this could be used to train some of the new people at work)
-Driving B (could use some more work, pressing the clutch almost seems like it braking)
-Car selection C (i know its early access so im sure they will add more)

The driving feel has a decent base (needs work, still arcadey and not refined).
They have a good start on tracks, and even the available cars are acceptable at this stage.
Menu navigation is reasonable.
In it's current stage this IS NOT A SIM.
They spent way to much time on the garage and building a car aspect. it's decent if all you want to do is build a car with every silly little piece you need to make it work. I do that enough in real life. I want to choose my pieces, upgrades, wheels, adjustments and get in my seat time. I didn't buy a drift game so I could figure out what pieces I am missing to make the car driveable. Based on recent updates they are working on making cars more driveable upfront.
The garage graphics are decent. The driving graphics are trash.
This game has been in development for how many years now and is still weak.
This is a $7 game, as it sits.

1. I can open the shop garage door, go outside and stare at my car on the lift.
2. Engine stand that spins, part can be set anywhere and rotated to be put on table or ground properly, can even stack my bumpers on the shelves like a real shop.
3. All the parts I can't afford in real life can be accessed here, turbos big and small, cranks pistons forged and all.
4. Actual parts lists for life like stages of mods, or do your own thing.
5. Battery's in the trunk.
6. Controller handling is perfect right out of the box, that never happens in sim or simcade games ever. I usually spend a few hours with controller setting, not a minute here. I have not tried cockpit setup yet so not sure how wheels support is.
7. There is a clutch button, controls are similar to forza with clutch on. Clutch dumps feel proper mid drift. The feeling of understeering when the rear tires gain traction is panic inducing, just like real life.
8. Tracks even when small have nice technical sections. Impressive.
9. The handling model is almost perfect for simcade, coming from a decade of real street drifting. The get up and go feels proper and fast, the acceleration and speed of the weighty cars is just.....yes.
10. I am forced to take parts outside and put them by dumpster if I want to clean up shop, I enjoy this.
The Bad.
1. Intercoolers have fins on only one side.
2.The ebrake while good, is not fully there yet.
3. This game is hard on Gpu's with not that impressive rendering and could use optimization. A liquid metal overclocked 2080 can't run 4k 60fps on high, while in the games garage at idle.
4. No placeable tables. There is only the back wall bench to set parts on, or the floor. Kills the feeling of building beautiful machines and having a virtual shop to be tossing parts on the ground.
5. Cannot buy multiple parts at once from warehouse.
6. Dumpsters do not open, would be awesome for trashing duplicate parts if they disappear when thrown in.
Final Thought,
I highly recommend this game!
It has this amazing feeling of having your own shop with a dyno a lift and a tire machine.
And its all for you, to build what you want! And when its built you get to go rip the absolute snot out of the car you built with love and the drifting is fantastic with a 10/10 out of the box controller feel. Support these Devs! This game has insane potential and gets better every month, also it is like nothing else.
For the Devs and Drift21 Team,
I have dreamt about a playing a game like this since NFSU and Street legal racing redline, and it was worth the wait. Thank you for this game and all the hard work.
P.s
Please could the team add a movable table that can be purchased in the ware house and set around the shop.
Thanks again for making DRIFT21.

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam. |
---|
Is this game a masterpiece? No. It is still in Early Access, and it is certainly not for everyone, especially not for people looking for a casual racing game.
Do you like to drift with your car? Cool thing, but in the best case this just ruins your tires. Drive as bad as I do, and you will ruin much more. Consider just buying this game, that's cheaper (and safer for everyone).
This game is all about drifting. And maybe about tuning your car, but it is not about racing against other cars. And no, there is no multiplayer option.
First, you have to buy a car. Currently 5 suitable (real world) cars are available, all in different colors and all in stock. With a car in your garage, you can buy car parts, as long as you have enough credits. And there are quite a few parts to choose from. I mean, really hundreds, no, probably 1000s of parts. Just make sure to buy parts that actually fit in one of your cars. A Subaru exhaust pipe part doesn't really fit well into your BMW. Engines, gearboxes, suspensions, driving wheels, tires, brakes, exhaust pipes, wheel hubs, drive axles, rims and hundreds of other parts, including lots of gearshift knobs. Actually you should have some experience as a car mechanic to understand how and where to install this stuff, and of course how those parts actually influence your driving experience. I, for my part, was happy to install a cool new hood and a large spoiler, additionally to my new skull gearshift knob. Simple minds please simple things.
Walk around in the garage, lift your car with the lifting ramp, remove parts and throw them around... it is all like in a real car mechanic garage. Really cool. Just don't forget to fit all required parts to your car again. Contrary to real life, it is not possible to go on the racing track with some important parts missing. Also it was not possible to take the basketball that lies around on the floor into my trunk or on my co-driver seat.
Anyway, after you have tuned your car enough you can show your drifting skills on some of Japan's legendary EBISU circuits in Nihonmatsu. These are tracks designed especially for drifting. Select the car you want to use, select the track (5 tracks currently available) and select the game mode: free ride, solo run or time attack. Earn cash and trophies by beating challenges. Don't think you can just put the pedal to the metal. I mean, you can, and if you also manage to shift gears you will most likely leave the track at the first turn. Those cars have a powerful engine, they oversteer if you just turn the racing wheel. To actually stay on the track it is required to drive with a little prudence and apply the right amount of throttle combined with careful steering. Using your brakes and your handbreak is also essential to drive fast times and enter long, controlled drifts. Quite satisfying should you succeed.
I just played with a XBox 360 controller, which works fine and allows to drive around quite nice, but I guess the real pros use a steering wheel and pedals to drive or drift around the many turns.
Conclusion:
Advanced car drifting simulation. Burn some rubber!

If you want a game make you frustrated and angry, then go ahead.
Otherwise, keep your money. And spend them on a game like Assetto Corsa or some DLCs for Raceroom.
Or if youre only after the building process, buy street legal redline and mod the shit out of it.

List of weak points of this game:
- Physics - (Driving model - things like inertia, tyre slip, suspension geometry(*non existent),
Collision physics are not logical up to the point that car becomes sticky to the walls rather than rubbing against them.
Car seems to have too much sensitivity on the front end.
Difficult to initiate a drift on transition which can be easily spotted through Turn 7 to 8 at Ebisu Minami. Transitions don't seem violent enough in slow speed entries.
- Force feedback - Pretty much fake effects generated with spring and dampers of the wheel and no actual feedback based of physics and car behaviour. Can't feel any compression or decompression, Can't feel the lean or how the load is transferred from rear to front and it's just a guessing game.

DRIFT21 is a promising drift game.
It's more a simulation than anything arcade so keep that in mind before buying.
Currently it's very light in content in early access so hard to recommend in it's current state.
I got the game for free at release, controls and physics were an absolute mess, it was barely playable, so it stayed almost unplayed in my library.
However the devs have listened to feedback and they updated the game.
Now physics and controls are a bit better, it still feel a bit wonky IMO but it's already way better than what it was on release.
I will give my recommendation but don't expect to have a full fleshed out game yet, i think in a few months it'll be worth it 100%, atm keep an eye on it, not worth buying at full price.
Right now the game only offer five tracks and four cars so yeah it's very light content wise.
I will edit my review once the game leave early access or if some major improvements are made.
Build 14639 early access rating 5/10.

Contributions:
* I hope you can add the option of the online mode, basically a game with this concept that only has offline mode is very boring where is the funny to build a driftmachine if you have no one to compete with or who can presume it?.
*The game needs cars that are true legends in the drift world, here is a list:
°Toyota mark II Chaser and Cresta (x80 to x100 or jzx80 to jzx100)
Verrosa
Aristo jzs161
Corolla Ae86
Soarer sc400,
Supra (A60 to A80) and Altezza
°Bmw E30, E36, E46, E92
°Nissan Silvia S12 to S15 with 180sx and 240sx versions,
Gtr Skyline R30 to R35 and the Hakosuka
Fairlady Z series
° Ford Mustang (All Models)
° Mazda Rx5 and Rx7
*More realistic engine sounds (Assetto corsa have the best engine sounds, but there aren't perfect)
* Something that the game really needs are adjustments such as Suspension (Alignment and damping) Engine parameters (Redline, Turbo pressure, transmission adjustments etc), Maybe the best thing would be to enable a beginner mode to make it easier avoiding avoiding a headache for controlling the car and a pro mode where you can modify all these parameters as you like.
I really hope some developer or staff of the company manages to see this contribution, best regards.

Its awesome to build your own drift car, and then go out and drift it. Only going to get better once more updates come out allowing tuning and the like
Will recommend to anyone!.

For actually making your car a drifty one - it will piss you off, at the current state.
For such price, I simply cannot recommend the game, when its still in Early Access.
Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 is CHEAPER, and vastly easier to control the assembly/disassembly process.
And UI is much more intuitive.

the car modifications are simple and easy (not as intense as mechanic simulator or anything)
not a whole lot of options for parts or cars but the game is fun
i drift on a controller and was on the top 10 drifting scores for fujimi kaido in forza on xbox but i refunded this because the driving is not great for controller.. =/

But its all been a let down...
Now while the car building was fun(until i fully built all 3 cars), the lack of content crazy for a game in 2020. Again i understand this is early access but come on! Not having that many tracks is somewhat understandable(i guess) but you figure a game developer should of been able to put at least 5-10 cars together for EA.
The Ebsiu complex is a great setting for a game set around drifting but the physics are so far from predictable its not even funny. i played around with all different power and tire settings, and while it did help, it made me realise this game is FAR from complete.
I planned buying this game on launch, but i waited to see if it got better. And im sure it did improve, but it is so far from a $39.99CAD title. I still have high hopes for this game, but until its either 50% off or $39.99 for the full game(physics fixed too) with a full car list, i wont be back.

the mechanic side is amazing, the driving is absolutely horrendous .. probably the worst driving i have experienced in a racing game.

For an early access game I think there is a lot of potential. There is a lot of room for improvement though and in my opinion some desperate need for some updates to the game mechanics.

PHYSICS and FFB
physics are there, they arent arcade, they are actually decent. main issues that dont let you test them properly are:
-bad FFB, and unintuitive settings for it. me and my friend spent a good hour trying to figure out good settings, we managed to make it feel like we were driving a car but its far from decent. a description of what every setting does in the menu would make it easier.
-bad tire model. what i mean is that there is almost no side bite, going sideways feels like being on soap and the car gives weird response to steering and weird FFB effects. instead a good, actually SURPRISING part of it is grip and time attack. car feels good trying to grip around corners and it gives a decent feedback to the driver, its really good fun and it starts to feel more like an actual simulator.
CUSTOMIZATION and PAINT
buying parts and tuning the car in our own workshop is real fun, it feels good to work on your own car and tune it to your preferences.
-PARTS: parts number is okay considering it being an EA, the final version will allow more customization for sure, hopefully body kits brands like Origin, GP Sports or BN Sports would be really nice to have
-PAINT: where is the chameleon tint shown in the gif???
-DECALS: worst part of visual tuning, a lot of important features are missing, like copying decals, mirroring them on the other side. adapting tribal shapes to make some crazy design was impossible on the S15 for unknown reason, the decal simply wont fit the other one (yes they had same size and rotation, tried to change a bit and couldnt make it look alright), would also be nice if we could add our own pictures, or make skins in photoshop and importing them ingame, it would make things much easier for skin makers.
-SUSPENSION TUNING: why there is none? cant even change tire pressure. this is not how a sim should be, you should be able to tune EVERYTHING of your car: turbo pressure, rev limiter, tire pressure, suspension stiffness, camber, caster, ride height etc. the missing of this CRUCIAL part for a sim is very disappointing, i remember the first trailer showed exactly that: an S14 drifting, and being able to customize suspension and engine from the menu.
CARS and TRACKS
the cars and tracks number is very little even for an EA, it gets boring pretty soon without many things to do and places to drive. i expect many adds in the future updates.
what am i expecting from future udates?
-first of all improved physics, new tire model, better force feedback
-ofc new parts, engines, cars, paints, decals and possibly custom skins that we can make using external programs such as photoshop
-night mode: driving at night would be awesome (specially on some japanese mountain road)
-photo mode: graphics arent bad and we need to be able to take good pics of our beauties
-menu updates: advanced video settings would be the first thing, also an explanation of settings such as FFB, since its hard to set up, and maybe some default settings for different wheels.
i think i said everything i was thinking about, in conclusion
is it worth buying the game now? no, at the current state it needs work physics-wise
do i believe in the project and does this have potential? it has a lot of potential, can't wait to see future updates and how they will improve physics and the game in general
buy it only if you dont expect a finished game and want to see how the game develops
Edit 9th May: After the patch there isnt much difference on thrustmaster t300. It was already ok.
But there is a thing ffb simply doesnt tell you, how to hold the angle
While on other driving sims the steering and the cars tells you how to hold the angle, in this game it seems like it does everything to mess up your drift. It just doesnt let you understand what the car is doing and how to hold a drift or how to do precise transitions.

Then there is the driving, oh boy, it's bad.
I tried using gamepad, that was horrible, then tried my sim-wheel, and i just instanly claimed a refund.
The physics are UNEXISTING in this game, this game sould be listed as a horror game, yes i'ts that bad.
It's a big fat NO for me.
What a shame....
