1. Set pieces are astonishingly beautiful and terrifying. Everything that can look good, will.
2. Combat is vicious and brutally difficult. With every death, you learn more about the fight and come back with the knowledge and will to rip and tear.
3. Music. Once again, the soundtrack will never not be great.
Just one problem though. Many who have played through this DLC and made it to the final boss will know what i'm about to say. It is unreasonably hard. Now, I don't have a problem with the challenge. I defeated the boss and won the game, however, the real question is whether I enjoyed it or not. The answer is no. The final boss is THE WORST BOSS ENCOUNTER I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. In DOOM, deaths a lot of the time are about learning. That demon spawns there, there are two of them, there's this type of fodder in the room. In the final encounter, the boss is lackluster and breaks everything we know about DOOM as it is today. Here's why:
1. You barely even fight him. Most of your time in this battle will be taken up by attempting to kill the two buffed demons in the room to remove his shield.
2. The room itself is so small and claustrophobic, you'll find yourself dying to lasers, portals misdirecting you, AOE attacks and many more ridiculous things that usually aren't that much of a problem.
3. The demons themselves in the room are outrageous. Two fodder, a blood maykr and the two buffed demons. When I can chainsaw a fodder demon every 30 seconds, why do I need a blood maykr to give me more ammo? It adds more claustrophobic AOE and makes the encounter unbearable.
4. The DOOM dance in this room completely breaks everything we've been learning up to this point. Where do you get health from? Glory kills and ice bomb. Where do you get armor? Flame belch and meathook. Where do you get ammo? Chainsaw and headshotting maykr drones. Throw almost all that away because now you're forced to pick up health and armor around the room instead of killing demons for the reward. This COMPLETELY breaks the games flow and almost ruins the experience.
As a final note, I would like to add that difficulty has never been a problem for me. I play DOOM on Nightmare without use of the BFG or UNMAKYR by choice. Difficulty has never been the problem. The problem is the design of the boss. Was vanilla Khan Maykr hard? Yeah, was it fun, YES! Same with every other boss in the game. What made this boss so unbearable was how it broke everything I know and love about DOOM. As I played, I watched as my pure admiration for the campaign so far washed down the drain. It was hard, but even in completion I felt like I lost more than I gained.
Do I recommend it? Yes. Do I love it? Yes. Should you spare yourself the time and utter disappointment of the soul crushing difficulty of the final boss to the point where you feel like your entire night and the entire DLC has been ruined for you, by turning down the difficulty just for that encounter? YES

Though I found the second level to be quite irritating, filled with environmental effects that slow you to a crawl, fog to obscure your vision, I found a certain enemy unique to this level to be quite annoying.
There's more good than bad, and maybe you'll enjoy all of it, but the second level left me feeling relieved that it was over, all in all an enjoyable package regardless, it's a short DLC, it took me four hours to reach the ending.
