If this DLC was supposed to show off the strengths of the game it does the opposite for the most part, revealing wonky hitboxes and other problems that don't really come up much in the normal game but are the bane of your existence in this DLC
The only good parts of the DLC are bend time massacre, burglar, and back alley brawl

That being said, if you're considering buying Dunwall City Trails specifically, I'd advice against it. The game engine (animations, hitboxes etc.) is not nearly precise enough to support a challenge mode. On top of that there's a lot of RNG with randomly generated patterns and dodgy AI that'll mess up your runs time and time again when trying to get the associated achievements. Only ever buy this DLC by itself if you absolutely have to 100% the game for... you know... reasons.

Bottom line, get this only if you're ready for the challenge of getting all achievements, or if you just want some new content to play around with and don't actually care about 100% completion. Otherwise, this will cause you a lot of unnecessary headache.

On a more serious note, the high you might feel from a challenge well passed does not compare to the frustration you will feel at how luck-dependent most of these trials and their respective achievements can get. I was this close to chalking it all up to a personal skill issue (because, y'know, this whole DLC was designed to be a test of skill), but when you have to pray to God that an inconveniently-placed, infinitely-respawning, incredibly-accurate assassin doesn't interrupt your jump with a crossbow bolt to the head or that a guard does not inexplicably survive an explosion that - by all accounts - should leave no trace of them... Well, you start to think there's something very wrong here.
Just play the Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches DLCs. If you're a completionist like me, try to pretend that there's only 70 achievements and go tear off a fingernail or something. That's roughly the same experience you would've had playing this horribleness.

Dishonored Distilled
Dunwall City Trails is the first piece of downloadable content released for Dishonored. It features ten challenge levels, void of any story, structured to highlight separate portions of the game’s gameplay.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2668734325
Each of these levels uses a three-star-based grading system, with higher ratings unlocking more concept art in the Gallery section of the main menu for your viewing pleasure. Certain challenges also come in harder, Expert variants, unlocked when achieving at least two stars on the regular difficulty of the corresponding challenge.
Suffice it to say, if there was a specific part of Dishonored’s gameplay you wish to get more of, then there’s something you’ll like within this DLC. For example, one challenge will task you with avoiding detection while recovering clues about the identity of your assassination target, while another will pit you against waves of increasingly challenging enemies and task you with eliminating them in the most creative ways you can imagine. Another challenge will task you with beating an obstacle course as fast as possible, while relying on your parkour skills and the Blink ability. There’s a challenge that has you kill a certain number of targets within a time limit, all the while the Bend Time ability is active. Once it ends, you get to witness the carnage you caused take place all at once, as time continues to flow.

The situation changes slightly if you’re an achievement hunter. While this DLC is necessary for you to 100% the game, it'll be at least somewhat frustrating as the majority of the challenges don’t explain what they’re basing your score on sufficiently enough. If you went into this without any knowledge, you’ve certainly found yourself doing everything the game told you to do, only for you to come out with a measly one star rating on the other end. Some of these omissions can feel downright malicious, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you have to resort to Google just to figure out what exactly each challenge tracks.
Some of the locations these challenges are taking place in are visually refreshing after looking at a drab city for 20 hours, but honestly, does it even matter?

Only buy if you are a massive fan of the Dishonored game, love a good evaluation of your skill, enjoy unforgiving challenges and do not mind occasional hitbox bugs which will ruin your perfect run. If not, it is not recommended; there is no real content.

This. Sucked. Ass. This took me 9 hours of non-stop playing just to be able to get 8-9 achievements. These trials are completely unforgiving and they shouldn't have been made with achievements required to 100% the game as a whole. It doesn't provide any story, literally anything. The Expert missions are the most downright infuriating things to do in my favorite game series of all time. I took me 4 hours just to 3 star all of the missions then I remember one achievement took me 2 hours to get. Burglar on Expert is the worst thing in the world. Bend Time Massacre has bonus rounds that feel like they weren't even playtested, I remember having a grand guard standing right under the speaker system, crashed it down and he lived, making me restart again. I can praise this game up and down for the gameplay, lore, character development, all that, but this will ALWAYS be my most hated DLC of any game of all time.
My hell is finally over but if you're into making yourself feel like garbage, then you can buy this, though you probably got it with the Definitive Edition anyway.

One issue I do have to point out is that you can't use Daud's abilities in these which is really unfortunate because his kit is just straight up an upgrade from Corvo's, maybe there's a mod out there to fix that but I somehow doubt that very much.

The most infuriating thing about DCT is the fact that in order to be 3 starred, most challenges seem to demand perfection despite things such as enemy spawns being down to RNG. Even the Normal challenges feel frustratingly hard. If you're trying to get every single achievement in Dishonored, this DLC will surely make you want to reconsider that. Out of all the challenges, I only found 3 to be good and entertaining:
Mystery Foe - Think of it as Lady Boyle's Last Party but with a lot more possible targets and you being unable to blend in.
Burglar - A good old B&E into Dr. Galvani's place but with more guards, more shit to steal, and more rooms. It's especially fun and challenging in Expert where you have no powers.
Back Alley Brawl - A wave based survival challenge. Although it's fun, there is a VERY frustrating achievement tied to it.
Everything else feels either mediocre or outright terrible. Despite having some of the only points in the game where you can kill a bunch of shit with your arsenal and not be penalized for it, it somehow succeeded at sucking all of the fun out. It honestly feels like a tech demo showcase that was just thrown together to look like a bunch of challenges.

There's a lot of terrible things to be said about it and I'll do so below.
-Some levels use your own hotbar placement for abilities, items and weapons while some just don't. Even if you change it in-game it reverts.
- There's a level where you need to head shot all enemies without fail and the hit-boxes are nowhere accurate enough.
- There's a level where you have to execute drop attacks and the level forces you to move so fast that the button prompt for the assassination barely has any time to show up which results in the player failing.
-The levels forces you to watch cut scenes over and over again, which is quite irritating considering you have to retry the levels constantly.
-Unlike the main game, the DLC does not give the player the ability to plan out their plan of attack. In most levels the enemy placement is completely randomized which severely limits the players ability to plan their attacks.
- Some levels are based on rounds and failing a round results in redoing all of them. This is pretty abysmal considering some levels take up to ten minutes to complete.
Overall it's god awful and has barely any redeeming qualities. Do not buy this.

Aside from achieving 3 stars for each challenge, most of the challenges have an accompanying achievement, these range from fun and fair to near reliant on good RNG and needing a guide to achieve.
If you enjoyed the base game, even at this DLC's low price tag, it's probably not worth it.

-- fr though, If the achievements weren't in the game and instead specifically connected to the dlc. I just wouldn't of bought it. But, I'm an addict. the actual game is like 5% of my playtime, the rest is just this dlc and I hate it.

Most of the challenges are mediocre, the challenge 'assassin's run', tries to be a precision shooter when Dishonored just isn't... Shonky mechanics and inconsistent AI will leave you utterly bald after yanking your hair out in frustration.
If you want good DLC, get the other stuff... but leave this piece of horseshit alone.
