Deus Ex: Bleach™
LG Souf

I spent at least 10 hours with Breach and what I got was one of the most soul-crushing video game experiences I'd ever had. Repetitive mission objectives, claustrophobic level designs that can be quite nauseating to play through, enemy encounters that get more frustrating and difficult to deal with the more you play the mode, necessitating the use of one-time consumables that can only be acquired from loot boxes.
Chances are you only play this game mode to get 100% achievements in Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It would take at least 10 hours to get every Breach related achievements. Keep that in mind if you want to suffer through this ordeal. It contains nothing good from the main campaign of Mankind Divided and it's a reminder of how badly Square Enix has treated this franchise.
2/10

doesn't contain any icarus references. after several games worth of glowing, augmented, or enhanced eyes, breach presents us with no real eyes anywhere. do what you will with that information

Main game gives some useful stuff to use in Breach, so I recommend preferring main install.
Story is not related; this is a stand-alone add-on.
Interesting tasks, I did most of them. Some require high speed and skills, watched some videos for extra tips and tricks.

It's everything as bad as they said. I have no idea how they managed to take a series about freedom of decision and choice and make it into something this restrictive and ridiculous but they did. It is so, so incredibly easy to soft-lock your way in this game and being unable to progress no matter how hard you try. Levels are tiny and often only have a handful of ways to complete the level, and when they don't, you'll be walking a tightrope the entire time with crap performance, difficult visuals, controls that just DO NOT feel good.
Did I mention the speedrunning and score mechanics which necessitate one use boosters in order to achieve them?
Or the game giving you paltry ammo when it has a lot of cool, satisfying toys?
Or how the game doesn't have co-op, or multiplayer instead having competitive speedrunning when the entire purpose of the fucking skill tree system is to build one of four characters who have various roles?
I hate this. I hate this so much you have no idea. I hate this more than I hated the earliest version of Satellite Reign.
There IS an almost solid enjoyable buried in here but they gutted it, threw the guts aside and shoved in cybernetic microtransactions where its guts should be. It is this cyborg zombie murder machine freak of a title in the worst ways imaginable.
Deus Ex: Breach IS a cyberpunk horror title of what video games can be in the freemium era. Avoid at all costs.

Stealth and Action
You know how in Mankind Divided stealth is simplistic, but works? Not here though, enemies sometimes instaalert you from mile away and sometimes you poke at their kneecaps with your newly unPACKed magnum without them noticing. Melee kills are 50-50 for alert too, even if you do them from behind a cover without enemy seeing you. But dont worry, you wont see them either since they're colored in bright-af-white on a bright-af-psychodelic colored map.
Speaking of maps, the design is all over the place, with some maps being a size of your mum's basement and other huge vertical skyscrapers. Graphical design looks cool for first 10 minutes, after which you realize that you've been running in circles in a white room with no points for orienteering. There's also no coherency between them, as you choose your next map from a tile board, akin to FF:Dissidia, Mobius FF etc, so don't expect any variety or sense of progress environmentwise. They also forgot that the weakest point of any Deus Ex game was the gunplay, so instead of trying to improve it, they just shoveled low-polly white guns, all of which you have already seen and used, coloring a couple of pseudopoligons in gold for higher level of drop.
Speaking of drops, there aren't any. Instead they have packs, which you can buy with ingame currency, and which usually grant you ♥♥♥♥ you never going to use. But you can pay real cash for a pack that grants you two of highest lvl of gear possible... Not pay to win at all ;)
Speaking of p2w, there is no direct multiplayer. Instead you can challenge somebody to beat your highscore, time or % of data extraction. This is ultimately irrelevant, however, not only because of how unbalanced leveling up your character is, but also because people found a way to beat levels in 0.1 secons, proudly displaying it in the highscore board.
In conclusion, this gamemode is bad.
P.S. I've never asked for this...

What is noteworthy is the MICRO TRANSACTIONS IN A SINGLE PLAYER GAME or even AT ALL.
0/10 greedy devs, just play a better game without them.

From your gun, to your ammo to your 'cheats' and so forth its all up to RNG loot boxes. Now I wouldn't be totally opposed to this system as it can be used to help players experiment and play with new weapons and such and having them mix up their tactics.
But then I found out about firewall key fragments and then... I got REALLY annoyed with these lootboxes and imo makes the game 100% unplayable. See levels have a score, time and collect all data secoundary objectives. The score and time objectives CAN NOT be done unless you use one time use cards that grant bonus score.
Then I got to world 3 where they introduce the adapting AI which slowly ramps up the game depending on how you play. And the only way to bring the difficulty back down is with a nuke virus that is IN A CARD PACK. Which means if you go back and grind lower levels for cash to buy a card pack (100 credits for repeating a mission mind you the cheapest pack is 6k) and now your making the game harder.
This game needs MAJOR rebalancing to be in a better spot. but for now I can't even recommend playing past the 2nd world.

I prefer stealth, and I might have gotten lucky, so I was able to beat all of the servers and the story missions with tons of credits to spare, but to 100% all of the challenges would definitely require real-money for power-ups or a lot of luck and grinding to get them through random drops. Beating the game does not produce any sort of ending, so there is no real point to completing all of the servers anyway. The game continuously gets harder any time the player attempts to hack a server (even just to try and get a better score on an already completed server), which further encourages spending on power-ups and makes boss fights, which inherit all of the worst features from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, needlessly tedious.
The story and the writing are basic, and some dialogues are outright cringe-worthy, with only the most superficial ties to the Deus Ex narrative. Honestly, the dialogues could have been dropped entirely without anything being lost. All in all, Breach has a great Tron feel to it and a lot of free content to enjoy for a couple dozen hours if you prefer playing stealth, but it is definitely not worth taking too seriously or spending any money on.

At its core I like Breach, its essentially an arcade mode version of MD, putting you in short but fun levels. All the strong gameplay from MD is here, just in bite sized packages this time, and Breach offers its additions such as a double/triple jump, overall the gameplay is solid and fun. I'd like to spend more time with it, but this is essentially a Freemium Mobile Game disguised as a PC Game. Its got all the signs, constant online connection neeeded, incredibly scare resources, pitful exp and credit rewards for replaying missions, gameplay driven by loot boxes, and a level select screen straight from any mobile game. The only thing missing is a godawful energy system, which it thankfully lacks.
I managed to get 1 hour into it before I hit my first wall, a mission where you have to take out a tough enemy, unlike the other missions takedowns and sneaking were useless (infinite resources), so I'd have to use ammo to defeat the enemy, unfortunately ammo cannot be looted, it must be brought directly with credits or acquired through loot boxes, in fact everything must be brought, theres no reliable way to get an item without grinding or paying up. This is incredibly bad free to play design worthy of a Supercell Title, there are better ways to do free to play and breach falls into all the traps of bad F2P.
In Conclusion: It 'costs' a 7 gig download, so if you want to give it a try and can spare the bandwidth you'll have some fun within the 1st hour atleast, and maybe more if you're willing to burn through your resources. But if you're time or bandwidth are limited, you'll want to give this one a miss.
