You either bought Forsaken 3 years ago, enjoyed the hell out of it, got all the drops and gear, experienced the secrets of the first dungeon to come to Destiny 2, and delved into the one of the most ambitious raids to ever come from the studio.
Or, you haven't been able to get everything you wanted to before Forsaken unfortunately leaves in February, in which case you miss out on ONLY The Tangled Shore and any strikes that bring you through the public space. For all of you who have purchased Forsaken already, DO NOT BUY THIS, you get it for FREE. You maintain access to the dungeon and the raid, as those are NOT leaving the game.
The Forsaken pass is for the players who have never touched Forsaken content before and do not own the DLC. Instead of paying for Forsaken as a whole, you buy this separate pack to be able to play those pieces of content, and get 3 Forsaken exotics right out of the gate.
ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, the full price of CDN$24.99 is a bit high... But I would still recommend this purchase for the new players coming into the game, the raid and dungeon alone are worth, and you can get some of the game's best loot from them. I hope everyone who wants Forsaken now takes advantage of the 60% sale as of writing this.

Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind should be campaigns for New Light players. Trying to get new people into this game is a confusing and tiring road and though the New Light campaign helps with basics, that's teaching mechanics and not immersion. They'll learn how to jump but not why they should care about any of the characters or be invested into the game. Removing Forsaken is yet another example of this history being scrubbed.
tl;dr pick up the pack on minimum 50% off sale if you want free exotics or have people to do the dungeon/raid with.

Thought about returning. But now that I know I'm just being loaned a game, I think I'll pass. I feel bad for the artists who work for you, Bungie. They've created one of the coolest worlds I've ever played in and all you want to do is remove it. Remove the MMO tag if you're going to treat it like a card game.

Forsaken is going to go free on December 7, 2021. The DLC will be removed from the game on 2/22/2022 and Bungie is letting the DLC go free until the release of Witchqueen. Forsaken is one of my favorite DLCs and it is practically a must play for all Destiny players.

I never would've bought into this game if I knew this was the plan. Which is part of the problem, these plans weren't communicated to the playerbase until it became convenient for bungie and their monetization model.
l don't think I'll ever play this game again.

HOWEVER, the story is fun, the Last Wish raid is probably the best in game, and it adds 3 new light subclasses which are great. I won't forgive Bungo for taking away my Blast Furnace, but it was a great expansion. (However don't buy this if they vault the raid)

Forsaken is a great DCL, interesting story, the first mission is *chef's kiss* fantastic, there's a Raid and a Dungeon, a fair whack of exotics.

Yeah it's not current like [insert most recent expansion here], but this is the expansion that singlehandedly saved Destiny. Not really worth the $25 since most of its content has been yote into the abyss (Black Armory and Opulence, particularly), but for $15 or less it's absolutely worth it.

is the best story experience in d2
it's so good
the exotics are good too
i hear they're removing this after the current season, but you've still got (at the time of this review) 50 or so days to play it.
that being said, this is definitely worth it if you want a great campaign, because apparently Shadowkeep wasn't good.

Forsaken is so far the best expansion in Destiny 2.
Pros:
+ Fantastic scenery and cinematics
+ Beautiful areas to explore
+ The story is great
+ Excellent raid and dungeon activities
+ A variety of good armor and weapons (armor is sunset except for the raid armor afaik)
+ Alot of lore you can dive into
+ The OST is amazing (available on Spotify too)
Cons:
- You probably won't find as many players to play the public activity Blind Well (LFG Discord might help)
- Some of the gear is sunset, meaning you cannot use it in current and future activities (Legacy Gear) (NOT Raid and Dungeon gear)
- You might not be able to understand some story stuff if you haven't played D2 Vanilla
Definitely a must buy if you want the full experience (there are frequent sales on Forsaken and I would rather buy it on one of those sales :))

Still 10/10 DLC for Destiny 2.
Got this DLC as a gift from clan leader @Devicodes. He, Tednaka, Mysterious Warlock spent much every month, much time and have so much patience for their members. We have awesome team leads too. And awesome members, now friends.
Love them and thanks for the amazing experience and friendships.

For starters, Cayde's death really didn't have the impact Bungie probably intended. Like yeah, I was sad because the funny blue robot died, but I really don't know anything about Cayde. I didn't know any of his backstory, who or what he was, or why I should care about his death. And I know the destiny franchise had been around for many many years before I started playing, so Bungie probably had enough time to flesh out his character through some creative storytelling. The only pieces of lore I found about Cayde were from little bits of dialogue, and the exotic quest you receive after beating Forsaken's main story. I had to look on the wiki, or watch the byf video to figure out anything meaningful about Cayde. Like, why should I care about a robot's death? Can't they just download his brain or something and put it in a new robot body? Isn't he just a few lines of code on some database somewhere? (Spoilers: Apparently he was a human at one point and got turned into a robot somehow, and his weapon, ace of spades, is named after his human son.) The story would have been awesome if I KNEW ANY OF THAT before going in!
2nd, the main villain, Uldren, kinda sucked. I never played destiny 1, so maybe he was featured in that game, and was known to be a villain in the destiny universe, but I had no idea who this guy was. the story would have been a lot cooler if Uldren was built up as a villain in the vanilla destiny 2 campaign, or in any of the expansions that came before forsaken. It would also have been interesting if Uldren was trying to look like an ally to the vanguard, and killing cayde was his way of getting back at us somehow. That would have been awesome to play through. Instead what we got was a mysterious character with unclear motives, that remained mysterious throughout the entire campaign, and I still have little idea who the hell he is.
BUT! I will say, I had a good time playing through the campaign. The boss fights were all fun, I think the trickster boss fight was the only time I actually laughed at something in destiny, and the two new planets/areas, the tangled shore and dreaming city, are beautiful. Seriously, Bungie, good job. I loved exploring all the little caves and secret areas hidden throughout these areas, without feeling guided to them. One of my fond memories from the campaign was when I accidentally found a group of scorn doing some religious ritual in the roof of a building. I felt like I had actually find something on my own, instead of a marker showing up on my map telling me where to go. Also, the endgame.
The forsaken endgame is SO SO SO SO fun. The dungeon, shattered throne, was actually really difficult, and FUN! I think what made it fun was that the ghost was silent throughout the whole dungeon. My friends and I went into it blind, and spent like 3 hours inside of it, figuring out what to do. It was a blast to play through, and there are probably lots of secrets we missed hidden throughout the dungeon. Also, the raids are pretty sick. Scourge of the past's final boss is amazing to fight. While the first parts of the raid seemed kinda random, the boss fight more than made up for it. It actually felt like a large-scale battle that had impact on the world, unlike most of the normal bosses, which are just a bigger version of a normal enemy in a room. The 2nd raid, crown of sorrows, was fun the whole way through. My group and I spend a couple hours on Ghalran phase 2, and the exotic drop, Tarrabah, made everything feel rewarding. Finally, the 3rd raid, Last Wish, is the best piece of PvE content I have ever played. Seriously. The boss fights were tough, the puzzle rooms were tough, and the final boss fight, Riven, is easily the best boss fight the crew at Bungie have ever made. (And yeah, using an exploit you can kill her in 30 seconds, but doing it the intended way makes her the most fun boss fight in the game.)
In the end, I would recommend the forsaken expansion. The story could have been better, but what we got was still fun, and the endgame more than makes up for it in my opinion.

However...
I'm not sure that the DLC adds much to the game, other than a few quests that ask you to do the same few activities over and over again. It certainly doesn't make me want to spend another 60 bucks to get the rest of the DLC.
(General gripes) Beating challenging bosses and maps to get good gear is a fine idea....In an FPS, having to do all of these stupid platform activities (jumping and dying by yourself for hours to perfect a modern version of Pitfall) just to get to the challenging fighting totally ruins the game for me. It overshadows some of the many good parts of the game. At least for me.
PvP? Worst I've seen in a modern game, original doom is a better experience.
Then there's the ridiculous level system, and lack of an explanation as to how everything works. Prepare to spend dozens of hours on google.
If you have no life and are willing to spend the many many many hours doing annoying repetitive tasks to get the gear you pay for, with very little in the way of new content, the DLC is for you.

You get access to 9 more subclasses, 3 for each class (You also get this if you purchase Shadowkeep). All of them bring a new spin to their respective classes and are a blast to play, from becoming a full on support (Well of Radiance) to hurling burning knives at your foes (Blade Barrage) to simply hurdling yourself at your enemies like a living ICBM (Thundercrash).
On top of that, you also get access to 3 more amazing raids (Last Wish, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow) with fun boss encounters and new weapons and armour to earn.
After that its Destiny's first Dungeon activity, The Shattered Throne. A 1-3 person activity with a mixture of mechanics seen in both Raids and Strikes, making it a perfect challenge if your someone who prefers to play in small groups (or solo).
Continuing on, you also get access to the story campaign for Forsaken, where you storm the Tangled Shore to avenge the death of [strike] Nathan Fillion [/strike] Cayde-6, and stopping the Scorn Barons and their leader Uldren Sov. As far as Destiny campaigns go its one of they're best, and is quite enjoyable for the entirety of its 6-7 hour length.
Once your done with the campaign, you can also go and track down a wide variety of new Exotic weapons thru 11 Exotic weapon quests and world drop engrams (As well as Xur, the Fri-Mon Exotic vendor). The included Exotics include returning fan favourites such as The Last Word and Thorn, as well as newcomers such as Lumina and Jotunn.
In closing, if you are enjoying the base F2P game and want even more to do, pick up Forsaken over Shadowkeep, or buy the Upgrade bundle with includes both. Its the single biggest pack of addon content you can buy currently for Destiny 2, and you get easily 100+ more hours of content to sink your teeth into.
