Auf der Flucht & auf der Suche
Ein Mann, eine Stadt, eine Mission und viele Gefahren…
Gameplay

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2122154225

Egal was passiert. Entscheide dich zu kämpfen! Entscheide dich zu leben!
Story

Dead or Alive
Randall, the protagonist, decides to sacrifice himself in the end to save Stella by chopping a hole in the dock so that she can jump down and swim to the boat and sail away. We've established that he can't swim, so fine, whatever he has to stay behind and die. But why does he have to chop a hole in the dock in the first place, you ask? Because the chain-link gate in the chain-link fence around the dock is locked.
He's been breaking locks like that all game, either with an ax or a gun, both of which he still has at that point (or the whole dock-chopping bit wouldn't happen either). Why is this one suddenly unbreakable? It can't be because he doesn't have time. If he has time to chop a hole in the dock big enough for a person to drop through with a fire ax, he has time to break the lock and/or chain with that same ax.
There is no heroic sacrifice, because they could easily have both gotten on the boat.
He tells Stella to choose to live, and deliberately chooses to die himself for no reason.
Wayne Randall kicks shadow's ass in this remarkably cool 2D game. Although the game is a platform driven game, the 3D in the background does its work of making deadlight a true zombie-apocalyps survival game. Voice acting is great, graphics are superb and the story is a bit short, but keeps getting your attention.
A Must Buy!

Deadlight is a 2.5D platformer set in a post-zombie-apocalypse zombie-infested America. You play as Randall Wayne, who has been separated from his family and hopes to find them in the last safe zone in America.
The plot is basic, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but normally a basic plot would be carried by characters, gameplay, worldbuilding, and/or soundtrack, which is not the case in Deadlight. All the characters I've met so far were forgettable to the point where I couldn't even remember their names. In my admittedly short experience playing this game, I did not once find myself caring about Randall, his family, his friends, or the one side character I've met so far. The voice acting is alright, but the writing could be better, with a few spots where it felt like someone went through the lines with a thesaurus.
When it comes to the gameplay, its mediocre most of the time apart from a few segments, that were a coinflip between annoying and engaging. The platforming is average for the most part, nothing to write home about. The combat is alright, about as good as I would expect from an indie platformer.
The world is meh.
I can't remember if there was a soundtrack.
I will continue this game and update the review if I find myself feeling differently by the end.
I don't feel as though I've wasted my time, but I do feel that I could have done something better with it.

The music and soundtracks were great I really enjoyed it even in the main menu you can AFK and enjoy the music.
overall deadlight is a fun 2d zombie game buy it on sale and you will not regret it.

However, the main problem is, it's a 2.5D game, and it's poorly designed in that you're often left guessing whether something is part of the playable foreground of background. So it becomes a largely trial and error gameplay loop.
The part that made me just uninstall because it just became straight out tedious was the helicopter part. After running through most of the part, I came to the section where you stumble over some boxes. However, due to the timing, you sometimes don't have enough time and you'll get shot dead, and the checkpoint puts you back 2 floors, with a decent amount of waiting.
Storywise, there's nothing amazing. Zombie theme with a guy searching for his family. With some random platforming events in between.

There are places where it autosaves, so you don't have to run the whole course at once. But it's still a short game.

+ Parkour gameplay
- The controls kill this game
- This games involves a lot of circuitous logic.
- So, what do you need a slingshot for? All you had to do was play with it For, like, 30 minutes and throw away. So WHY would you take something and add unnecessary elements?
- Any clue, when i really need it?

But, I'll still give it, barely, a thumbs up though, mainly due to it's age. By 2012 there weren't many of the games that eventually set the standard to this genre, like Inside, or Little Nightmares. Even though it's repetitive, the journey itself is short and somewhat enjoyable if you're in the right mood.

The gameplay is very interesting at first, but yes as others have said it becomes repetitive, if not boring, still it's one of the rare games where I got to the end before completely losing interest, so it must be doing something right.
The story elements are mostly boring, tedious even when you have cutscenes you have to redo because you died, this game could have done without
Still recommending this game, if you get it on sale. You'll be done in about 4h so don't spend a fortune on it

DEADLIGHT
A PLATFORM GAME IN THE POST-APOCALYPTIC WORLD
Deadlight is a platform adventure game that renders noir items in a post-apocalyptic environment developed by Tequila Works. With its atmosphere reminiscent of Deadlight Limbo and The Walking Dead, it invites us to a completely different adventure.
The first feature of the game that catches the eye is its visuals. The successful integration of hand-drawn background images into the game increased the depth of the post-apocalyptic world.
The section design has very successful drawings and lighting compared to a platform game.

On the other hand, if you like a good narrative and atmosphere, Deadlight might be a good game for an occasional weekend play. It's very casual, never punishes you too much and the checkpoints are generally well-placed. But it's too casual for my taste. Sometimes it feels more like an interactive movie than a real game.
It wasn't easy to give Deadlight a thumbs down, considering the great artwork, graphics and story, but the flawed controls and lack of gameplay variety are just too annoying to ignore. It wouldn't hurt to have more combat and add some tense moments while trying to slash your way through the hordes of infected. Instead, the sense of danger relies on seeing your character struggling to jump a fence because the controls keep fighting against you.
It's a real shame that Deadlight is plagued with those technical shortcomings, because this could have been a great zombie game. Again, try it at your own risk, keeping in mind that storytelling is all this game has to offer to keep one's interest.

You can beat it in 4-6 hours, there are 2 endings, one of them is available only by beating the nightmare mode.
I like visuals and scenery very much, all locations/levels are great to involve you in a dying world's story after zombie apocalypse with only few survivors left.
Found some bugs, but nothing too serious.
Basically you get a walking simulator with linear story and some amount of action moments.
Overall I like this game, it's not superb, but a solid experience for a few hours, get it on sale.

But that was not this game.
This game is just a big trial and error puzzlegame, it pretends to not be at times, but its all about solving the puzzle. Its like looking at a pinball game with a zombie theme, you just want to shoot zombies, but its all about pinball.
You will die constantly, and you will never feel like its your fault, its trial and error to the extreme. Sometimes you will enter a new room, stop to look around, soak in the room and figure out what to do next, the next second the roof caves in and you instantly die. The game wanted you to rush through that particular room like a madman suddenly without any hint or warning, while also perfectly time the jumps a couple of times while running or you instantly die. Have fun dying 5-10 times untill you learn the exact order of jumps.
For everytime i was forced to die in order to learn what the game wanted me to do at any particular moment, my
feeling of immersion was completly lost.

The graphics, music, sound, and sheer amount of zombies always trying to get to you, even when most of them can't, creates a really unique atmosphere in my opinion. Ususally, it's either a ton of zombies that you tear through like you're invincible, or a few zombies here and there with the occasional horde, and a hopeless feeling. This game manages to combine the 2, with a ton of zombies and the hopeless feeling.
I do feel like this would have been even better if the story was better presented. But there's really not much to the story. I'm only about half way through the game, so that might change. However, it does seem like there's a lot of background story to read by finding pieces of a diary, so there is more detail for those wanting to find it.
Minor complaints:
I'm also not sure how I feel about the main character always looking like a 3D silhouette. Maybe there is an artistic or story related reason this is the case, but I found it a little alienating when he is in well-lit areas and still looking like a shadow.
Also not sure how I feel about the voice acting. It's good. But it doesn't feel real. It feels like they are reading lines. I'm not sure how to explain it. But the main character always talks in his head like he's narrating in real time, rather than actually being in the moment. The voices themselves are good though. They fit the tone of the conversations. The quality is great. Something just feels a little off to me.
Again. These are just minor complaints. They were just something that bothered me a little, and probably won't affect most people.
My only real complaints has to be with the graphics, controls, and the pause menu.
The graphics themselves are just fine. But it's not always clear what you can and can't interact with. You won't know if that ledge is a ledge you can grab until you jump at it and possibly fall to your death. This isn't really an issue if you play the game casually, but if you are trying to find any possible secrets like me, it can lead to a lot of deaths. Not to mention, it's not always entirely clear that the bottomless pit is actually a bottomless pit, and not an alternate path with a secret for you to find.
The controls are great when you do what the game expects you to. They feel a little rigid, but not bad or unplayable. It's the jumping in particular that really feels clunky. You can either jump forward, or straight up. It can be a little annoying to be below a ladder, but a little to the left, so you tap right and jump to jump at a small angle, but you instead fly to the right at top speed.
Overall, it really feels like 90% of my deaths were caused by the controls or not being able to tell what was a ledge I could actually grab. I've only died by a zombie a handful of times, and one of those times was with the game glitching and a zombie grabbing me while still being 10 feet away. Despite dying a lot, I still really enjoy the game. It's the wait after dying that really makes dying annoying. And that brings me to my last point...
The pause menu takes forever to show up for some reason. When you die, you have to wait a little before spawning back in. Not too long. Just long enough to get annoying if you are dying a lot in a room. But the pause menu. Sometimes I have to wait for a good 10 to 15 seconds for it to pop up. The game pauses instantly, but the menu takes it's time to appear.
Despite my complaints, I still recommend this game. But mostly for the art and atmosphere than anything else. Nothing was so bad that I found the game unplayable. I really would like to see a sequel to this game, with all the issues fixed, and more depth to the gameplay and story.

Having said that, the graphics and art are nice, simple but they fit the game. Good setting and atmosphere too. It's a shame the controls are so bad; if you don't mind dying and retrying all the time because of them it's worth (again, on keyboard and mouse, don't know if they work if a controller).

The art design and the world that was built for this game show a lot of love and attention to detail. Some of the scenery and set pieces are really memorable. The feeling of running from left to right in a world that extends and moves beyond you is very cool (reminiscent of games like Limbo and Inside).
The controls totally ruined it for me, though. I haven't fought controls this much in any recent game I've played. It's the most frustrating thing to know exactly what you want to do and have your character jump to his death instead. I would blame my own skill except that the actions are tied to one button. Want to jump directly up? Press A. Oh, but that might also fling you 60 feet to the right off of a ledge to your death. Need to turn on a generator because you'll die if you're a second too late? Better be in the EXACT spot that the game allows you to do so, or you're toast. Oh, and don't worry, the checkpoint was three fatal obstacles ago, so you get to do all of it over again. And again.
A game is sometimes only as good as it is fun to play, and this one really wasn't for me. This game has some powerful design and worldbuilding, but I really didn't enjoy wrestling with its controls for its entire four hour length. Pair these unpredictable/non-responsive controls with some subpar writing and voice acting, and the whole thing ends up being a disappointment.

You play as Randall Wayne, who lost his wife and daughter during the outbreak and he's searching for them ever since.
He decides to travel to a save point because he thinks his family would be there waiting for him.
As you progress and pick up small items in the environment, he talks about his family, his situation, the world as it was, and the nature of humanity.
Randall carries a journal which has several missing pages, which you'll find throughout the game, this journal gives you an insight to his past.
This side scrolling adventure is like a free running parkour filled with puzzles.
The atmosphere is executed perfectly, everything in this game makes you feel like you are in an apocalyptic environment.
Throughout the game you'll see pencil-drawn, comic book looking cut scenes that reminded me a lot of the Walking Dead series.
The controls and combat system felt a bit clunky and scarce.
I also noticed flaws where Randall was fighting invisible zombies.
I soon realized that killing zombie's wasn't rewarding, they need way to many hits and it is easier to just run past and avoid them, or outsmart them.
The story was decent but not very creative, specially in chapter 2 where it got a little long and boring.
Rat is a homeless guy that's living in the sewers, he is the only memorable character that you'll meet.
He wants you to search for his son, sadly that entire chapter feels very out of place and the sewer parkour is way too long.
Overall, it was the aesthetics that made this game feel so special and unique.
The atmosphere is so incredible and the style is so creative and extremely detailed.
It was something I never seen before, and I was absolutely blown away by it.
Deadlight: Director's Cut has slightly better graphics compared to the standard edition.
It also has a Nightmare mode which is basically the normal game but hard mode without check points.
There is a survival mode, where you kill endless waves of zombies, this does take place in a different setting.
If you already own Deadlight, I don't think it's worth buying the Director's Cut, since the difference is barely noticeable.
In case you don't own any, I recommend you to buy the Deadlight: Director's Cut, due to more content and better graphics.
