Über das Spiel
Yes, this is a cyber manhunt games, combined with a network of violence, big data, loss of privacy and other social problems, to the story of puzzle games.
Many of our plot settings refer to real events, so you can also see some familiar figures from some character image setting maps, and you can think of reality after playing the game.
Theme Idea
During the internal communication, we found that when the Internet continues to penetrate people's lives and accelerate the transmission of information, a negative event can quickly spread throughout the Internet.
In this process, sin will be exposed and punished, which will make people happy; but some people will suffer malicious insults and insults from the Internet keyboard man. When these cyber violence continue to escalate, the consequences often exceed the incident itself, and even more stressful and end precious lives.
Therefore, we decided to develop such a game related to the theme of "hacking", "cyber manhunt" and "privacy data leakage". We hope that players can play the role of a hacker, and find out their privacy secrets, like God controls the destiny of others behind his back and witnesses their end. I hope that through this process, players can think and make their own right judgments.

Man hackt sich in die Social Medias der Opfer ein, kombiniert erlangte Infos und deckt Storys auf. All das geht quasi ohne Tastatur.

Having said that, I can't bring myself to recommend it. The worst part of the game is the writing. Aside from some translation and grammatical errors which I can ignore, the nicest way I can put it is that the writing style is simply not for me. The characters are so incredibly tropey, dramatic and honestly cringey in the way they speak. The twists and turns are juvenile and the themes are simplistic and shallow. The game doesn't say anything you don't already know (i.e. wouldn't it be bad if hackers are able to use your private data on social media for nefarious means? Really makes you think!).
Aside from the writing, the game play is okay though fairly repetitive. The game does try to keep you engaged with new mini games that pop up, though at least one puzzle right at the end of the game is completely frustrating in a way that makes no sense and when you're under time pressure as well. By that point, I just wanted the game to be finished.
I'm sure there's an audience for this game (maybe younger people?) but it's not for me unfortunately.

I finished the base game without DLC in roughly 10 hours.
Beware though that the game is published by a Chinese studio and it shows. The script has been translated from Chinese to English and it is sometimes painfully obvious. It's far from perfect English, which can ruin the immersion from time to time. Also, the voice acting leaves a lot to be desired. Both on the inconsistent, unnatural intonation, but also voice actors saying different lines than their script or subtitles.
But if you can look past the bad translation and voice acting, and you're a fan of these types of games (similarly to 'Orwell: Keeping an eye on you'), definitely give Cyber Manhunt a shot!

The good
- The story is very pertinent to how the internet is today. Data breaches, cyber bullying, abuse, cover-ups, flame wars. There's a lot of despicable things that we don't want to acknowledge. We know that the fathomless depths of depravity exist. This game delivers on reminding people that nothing is ever truly 'gone' from the internet.
- Generally, the puzzles are manageable with a bit of critical thinking. It's quite a bit of fun seeing different puzzles and piecing data together.
- The artwork is great. It's not the typical dingy and dirty cyberpunk that we've grown accustomed to. It has the near future feel that is just right.
The bad
- The end of Chapter 5 needs to be rebalanced. There's a puzzle that is too clever for its own good. The one in particular involving the numeric keypad. Other players will recognize this infamous headache.
- The virus puzzles will take many attempts to complete. The race against the clock becomes an issue with trying to grasp the sequence aligning the pieces.
- I had completed every possible task to achieve the Perfect Ending, yet somehow I failed that. There's an anti-frustration measure. I succumbed to take the 'easy' way to solve the most challenging virus puzzle. I was treated to the 'general' ending. I feel a bit cheated for doing everything else right, only for a very vexing puzzle to snatch that away from me.
- Minor gripe about the ending credits. The transition between the different characters we interacted with passes by way too quickly. I wanted to read each of their picture's snippets.
Growing Pains
- Translations. English is a monstrous hybrid language that plays by and its own rules. As a native speaker, it's easy to pick up on phrasing, typos and other grammatical issues. I don't fault them for this. It's a very good attempt. The actors convey their lines good enough to get the point across.

A game like this could do well if the writing and setting are done well, but the situations presented so far seem really contrived. Combine that with dialog that sounds awkward and stilted, with word choices and grammar that were obviously not written or proofread by a native English speaker and it really takes you out of the game. What I've seen so far is not broken English, more awkward English, like it was translated automatically.
Most other reviews paint a good picture with similar information, so I think it comes down to personal preference. Overall I agree this game plays more like a visual novel and less like a puzzle game.

Gameplay wise, it's a decent detective game, pretty much same as Orwell. And one difference, for the worse? The clues are not highlighted without you moving your mouse over them. Seriously, sometimes it felt like a point & click game with sheer frustration caused by missing some random clue in a conversation I read and didn't closely follow with my mouse.
The mini-games that appear thorough are all good however, and I had no problems with them.
Story wise, it's good. Feels a bit like an anime, both in regards of aesthetics, but also the story. Nothing specific, just general vibe I got from it.

In terms of visuals, the game looks great. The art and animation are well done and have their own unique style to them. The UI looks pretty great too, though there are problems there that lie beyond their sleek exteriors. One of the most annoying parts (something that could have been easily implemented, I'll bet) is that you can't use the TAB key to move between fields. The password cracker requires you to input several pieces of information in across multiple fields, and you'll do this several times in each case. You can't use TAB, though, so you pretty much have to do everything with your mouse. It's a minor gripe, but I found myself annoyed at these sections of the game. They included CTRL+C and CTRL+V, but not TAB?
Sound design is mixed. The music is great, from the actual lyrical songs, to the general background music. It's a little repetitive, but it fits the game and doesn't distract from what you're trying to do. I think the Reasoning music is my favorite just for how nice it sounds, adding a bit of urgency to the normal background music. The voice acting, however, is mixed at best. Some roles sound better than others, but the game would have benefited from better voice direction.
However, the story suffers the most, because whoever was in charge of localizing the game seriously dropped the ball. The tutorial and first case (so the content included in the demo) have the best localization, but even then it's not great. The wording of hundreds of messages in the game is awkward and fake-sounding, some parts even sounding like those phishing e-mails written by the prince of Nigeria. There were places where the localization was downright unintelligible, and I ended up having to make guesses in certain parts of the game to progress the story because I couldn't make sense of the options provided.
The story itself, localization issues aside, is good, but feels disjointed at times. There are two major plots that run simultaneously, and they seem completely separate from each other, even when they should be working together. Also, characterization for the main NPC was just wrong - through other dialogue and flavor text, the game seems to be trying to establish this character as your friend, but they act distant at best and antagonistic at worst, so your motivations get muddled at certain parts of the story. Puzzle design is pretty good, though there are two or three puzzles that will practically force you to look up a guide because their design is pretty obtuse. But overall, the game has a good message about privacy in the digital age - it's just a bit hampered by the way the game is presented.
Overall, Cyber Manhunt is a good, but flawed game. After playing other hacking games like Code7, Hacknet, and Uplink, I found it to be more on the point-and-click adventure side of things rather than an actual hacking simulator, but it really needed a final layer of polish if it wanted to be one of the greats in the genre. I think the game's overall appeal would be greatly increased by having a good localization team go through and fix a lot of the rough translations and making the game more accessible and immersive.

There are quite a few typos and grammar mistakes that detract from my enjoyment. If it were only on the social media accounts, it would seem like an intentional choice; but since it appears on articles and professional documents as well, it's distracting. In my opinion, the game would greatly benefit from a proof reader. Although, considering the studio is based in China, I'm pleasantly surprised there are as few typos as there are.
That aside, It's a lot of fun solving the mysteries and tracking down clues. A strong showing for the studio's first game. I look forward to seeing how things progress!

Another huge problem, especially in the last chapter, is the game is throwing a ton of background lore at you while an onscreen timer ticks away, in a scenario where the game can't even be paused. The interface already makes it hard to quickly grab information, but now you have to grab it while racing the clock, and solving puzzles. Your option is either to go slow and actually absorb the lore (failing and having to repeat after multiple attempts), or go quickly and miss anything story related.
The concept of this game is great and almost done well here. ALMOST. It needs better translation and better writing, way less bugs and a better UI. Whether it was script or direction, the voice acting was not up to par either.
Playing for so long only for the game to break at the end really soured me on it, but I'm hoping the devs can fix it for their next iteration, because there is definite potential here.

First for the Gamers: :)
this game is very good and the solving isnot easy (when i played the demo version i though it will be easy but it isnot). you will enjoy your time. the game depends on solving cases which will get hard by time and to get 100% achievements you will need to play some tasks for 2-3 times.
each story should take from you minimum 1.5 hours. and the story itself is good too iam waiting for more chapters.
If u like this kind of games of solving problems. the game depends on logic and to read nearly everything so u can concluded everything.
and yes it has few translation problem (as the developer isnot from English country) but it is getting less and less compared to the lunch of this game.
Gameplay and story : very good
Music : Bad
Graphics : Fine
For the developers: :)
1) the news cut scene need to be extended as i cannot even read the subtitles, yes it doesnot effect the story as the voice actors say the important parts but still it will be better
2)Still you need some fix on the English version, for example
the PR mission where we should trend from titans, (i want to read the comments on the screen and even doing the job itself and putting cards left or right isnot clear how did it effects me in bad or good way most people including played this part for 4 times just to memories the card effect
, and there is something in the save/load menu need to be fixed
3) improve the music, the game is good, we need to spend hours in each chapter and with music i get annoyed, especially when
when Vans appear for the first time
i think u could do better
4) allow us to open more tabs in the browser
Finally iam looking for more chapters or DLCs from you

Some minor issues like hovering over certain clues sometimes don't get picked up unless you go pass it slowly. And also some spelling errors here and there but it doesn't get in the way of the game.

Intro
You work for Titan, one of the big companies in Allivia. Your job? Looking for people's information on the internet. Cyber Manhunt is a game that will show you the dark side of the internet from leaving your personal information everywhere.
Pros:
- 5 chapters
- Minigames and riddles on some chapters
- All voices are dubbed
Cons:
- Some riddles are too vague to solve
- Most timed events are too short, relying you on retrying the event again to get the job done
Should you buy this game?
Yes.
If you are looking for other games that look like Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You (my review), buy this game at a sale.
In-Depth Review
Graphics
The game uses a similar design as the Mac operating system. A list of applications is available at the bottom of the screen, centered with some additional info such as news, objectives, and collected information on each corner of the screen. Although the game incorporates applications and websites that you usually use every day, some applications are also specifically designed for the game. However, they are not maximized, leaving a lot of empty spaces behind. Some people with reading difficulties might benefit from the use of space and bigger text, especially the browser.
Story
The story is divided into 5 chapters, each with a different focus in mind. You'll investigate different people in each chapter except for a few characters that will appear in more than one chapters, connecting their involvement in a bigger picture. While you'll benefit more from the story by remembering these reoccurring characters, each chapter can still be enjoyed separately.
Some cutscenes are also introduced between each chapter, focusing on you and the company that you worked in. Everything will be wrapped up in the ending, which is also connected with the conclusion of the last chapter. While the story might come as a surprise to some people, it didn't affect me much since I played a game with a similar concept before. However, some parts of the story feel a bit odd, mostly due to the translation and different dialogue choices in the game.

The Game
Investigation
The main feature of Cyber Manhunt is a cyber investigation, where you have to collect someone’s profile by gathering information online. It tries to make it as realistic as the real world by collecting data from social media, news portals, and other websites while incorporating some fantasy elements as well. A company database is available at your disposal, which you can use to gather more detailed data from some input.
However, finding the correct information tend to be troublesome since you need to hover your mouse to the text before collecting them. Some information that seems to be useful also tends to not be collectible if the developer chooses not to make it so, turning everything into a “hovering my mouse to every sentence that I could see” game just to satisfy the condition. The game also has no clue system which might halt your progression if you accidentally miss one piece of information that is buried beneath the haystack of information.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2421076590
The introduction of the cracking tool is also a bit ridiculous. You can put some personal information of the target on the app and voila, you'll get the target's password. The game doesn't seem to give a quick option to copy and paste all of the required info in one click though - there are 6 fields to fill, and filling them one by one every time is very tiring. Moreover, the tool only gives one password and strangely, it works for almost every account that the target uses. While this doesn't make sense, some people actually do these kinds of stuff so I'm not sure whether the game does this on purpose to remind us not to do this practice or not.
Riddles and Minigames
Some riddles are tricky and not obvious enough to solve. Although some clues are available, they tend to be confusing since you need to know various things beforehand, such as how house numbering works and the date format that the developer intended to use. The game tends to use the MMDD format for dates and I kept on using the DDMM format out of habit, which goes worse when the year is also involved. One riddle also requires you to unlock a phone with a pattern that is not possible to do in an actual phone, triggering some confusion. To make it worse, everything must be done within a time limit, which is almost impossible to accomplish on your first try.
On the other hand, I had fun playing the minigames. Some of them are similar to other puzzle games like Hook, while some are more original. The tutorials that are provided before you start some minigames also help you to understand how they work. However, one minigame is quite difficult to understand, especially if you want to unlock a certain achievement.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2421077117
Length and Replayability
Steam says that I finished the game in 12.6h, while the in-game clock states that I did it in ~12.2h. Each chapter can be finished in 1-2 hours, which can take longer if you want to get some achievements. Despite the achievement mentioning three endings, two of them are similar to each other while the last one is a bad ending that will lead you to a game over screen. There is no reason to replay the game apart from unlocking achievements.
Problem
You can't skip cutscenes. The game also doesn't allow you to open the menu to load your save at some point, forcing you to restart the game manually. While I usually don't mind with this, the game has a slow loading time, making achievement hunting to be annoying sometimes.
Specs
Intel Core i5-9300H 2.40GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Conclusion
To be honest, I thought that the game will be similar to Hacknet (my review) where you have to hack into servers and steal some information. It turns out that it's more similar to Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You (my review) and although I don't mind with the similarity, this game feels like an inferior version of that game with some additional features. It was tiring to hover my mouse on every text to find clues and doing it when I was reading the text ruins my concentration. Some translations are also a bit off and although it's still possible to understand the story, it can ruin the immersion sometimes. However, the game is still enjoyable if you are looking for a similar game to Orwell and don't mind with some annoyances.

Slightly longer review:
You google names, go to their facebook page, click on interesting info and then google that, or enter it into the same five programs while the UI makes you wait for 10 seconds every time you found a hint. Then you answer some exams to check if you paid attention. If you expect deductions or logic puzzles, you will not find those here. It is all simply about reading and remembering information.
Sometimes there are minigames but they are also not interesting. One in particular really sucks, because you simply aren't given the information necessary to make the correct decisions, so you just click on random stuff until it somehow works.
It is one of those games where I suffered through the last 3 hours because I wanted to see the ending, but I had my head in my hands a couple times because it was just so annoying sometimes.
The writing.. well first of all, from a purely technical standpoint, it is bad. Clearly whoever wrote this is not fluent in english. There are tons of typos and grammatical errors all over the place. Things which could have easily been fixed by proofreading. Funnily, it gets better torwards the end. Or I just stopped paying attention, which is probably more likely.
From a stroy perspective, it is actually *ok*. Not great, not terrible. There were definitely some good parts, some twists, and some hateable characters. The main issue is that the gameplay is so boring that torwards the end you just use your mouse to scan over text really quickly to find hints, and stop actually reading it.
Overall score: meh/5.

Some of the mini games are a little tricky, as they kind of throw you into them without any explanation and they are timed. I learnt the hard way that pausing the game does NOT stop the timer on these games, and sometimes you can't even pause at all.
There's a lot of heavy material in the game as a warning, such as bullying, stalking, murder, assault, r*pe and domestic violence. Plus more. Some chapters are so heavy I had to take a breather after them, because you really do get sucked into the character's lives and stories.
One thing I really disliked about the game was the use of the r word slur multiple times in the game. As a disabled person myself I found it jarring and slightly offensive. I get that the character saying it is portrayed as a horrible person, but I would have enjoyed the game a lot more without the use of this slur. It can easily be replaced with a less offensive word.
Overall, it is a fantastic game. It has its faults, which are still being worked on by the team to their credit, but the positives very much outweigh the negatives. If you like plot driven, dystopian, light sci-fi and heavy themes in your games, this will excellent for you to try. Sit back, prep yourself and enjoy the narrative of the world the developers have created.
If you found yourself upset or related to some of the content in the game, please consider talking to someone and getting help. You're not alone, and help is out there for you.

+ Nice idea
+ Handles topics of Cyber security well
+ Understands security flaws etc, Dev done their research.
+ After i played this a Nigerian King emailed me about £1Million, All i had to do was send him £50k up front and hes going to wire the rest back any day now!
- Very dull
- Most of the game is just left clicking text to find a clue
- Phishing is the most frustrating and painful thing.
- Interests levels died so fast playing this game

1. While yes, the English is not perfect - it's not game breaking by any means and apart from a few funny lines (liver streamer??) it really didn't affect my game that much. Definitely not the biggest weakness of the game.
2. The stories for each of the chapters were very unique but they got more complex as time went on and ended up just being confusing (again this could be a language issue?). Lots of times I was finding information out about the stories that was telling what actually happened only for it to be ignored and unable to be collected. It felt like we weren't getting the true aspect of the story and that was hinted at later in the game but nothing ever happened with this? For example - It's highly alluded to that
Jim and Isabella killed Austin multiple times. But nothing ever confirms this and I don't know what the point of alluding to it was if it's never confirmed.
It felt like they were throwing twists at you just to throw twists at you, and they ended up not making much sense.
3 - The endgame was a MESS. Dates going in weird orders, changes happening to the story that didn't make sense and it left me feeling really unsatisfied. Trying to complete every chapter to 100% was so rough, not collecting one snippet of an email you checked at the beginning of a chapter could be your downfall for the next three hours... And instead of having a hint system you can choose to use, you're left to going back through everything you've already been through throwing your cursor around looking for a red box. It takes away from the story and is boring gameplay. Definitely would be better to be able to contact Ashley for a hint when you're stuck.
Pros:
1 - Look I beat the game and it is certainly not the worst game I've ever played. I enjoyed the good parts of the game. Each chapter was super unique, the game wasn't afraid to go a bit dark, and it did have SOME good twists thrown in.
2 - The voice lines were pretty clear and had very little grammatical mistakes. Quite good voice acting and added to the characters - unfortunately there weren't loads of them but the ones that were there really added to the games vibe.
3 - It is the closest thing to Orwell I've found and I appreciated the game play and the way the devs tried to adapt it to change it up as the chapters progressed.
If you're desperately looking for something like Orwell then get the demo and see if it's your thing. But otherwise I really can't recommend the game right now.

Good:
- The game's story and art is good.
- Decent interface (well coded).
Bad:
- Puzzles often have unrealistic time limits or forces you to guess the answer, and after the time runs or you guess wrong you have to rewatch all of the dialogue before the puzzle started.
- Evidence often don't make sense, things that seem irrelevant are often evidence and vice versa.
- Plenty of spelling mistakes.
- The 5th chapter can't be completed at the moment due to a bug,
- The game doesn't reward you for thinking on your own when collecting evidence or hacking people (with a few exceptions).
- There isn't really a difficulty curve and the game never really opens up in terms of gameplay.

Why the thumbs down then? Because the game really suffers from the fact that the writers and developers don't seem to be fluent in the English language. Unfortunately, this leads to grammatical errors, a strange choice of words and stilted dialogues at every corner, which constantly breaks the immersion and sometimes even makes it hard to understand what the game is trying to tell you. In a game mostly relying on text, this is a huge issue. Getting native speakers on board to help with the translation could help a great deal, I think. Considering this game is in Early Access, I'd gladly turn this negative review into a positive one, if the language problem gets fixed.

For the bad stuffs, the English translation isn't as good as it seem to be, I guess the game is originally developed in Mandarin language. The choice of font is also questionable. It's still very much playable with some minor typos.

For cons, there are certain plot holes in the story with specific characters that don't make sense yet, maybe they will rectify on that further down the line. The voice acting as mentioned by other reviewers can fall pretty flat.
Overall this game is worth it for its price tag and its still in early access.

However, the game has two major problems for me. First off, the interface is a bit annoying. Like, to erase something, you need to actually hit your own delete button. I know this may be nitpicking, but you don't have to do this when copying and pasting, and you are going to be doing a lot of these two. It's also tedious going through the apps. When closing them, for example, you have to recopy the password in should you need to go back to the same users file.
Another thing that makes this game a bit annoying for me is the tutorial. This game, unless your good with tech and/or hacking, doesn't do a good job at explaining certain aspects of the game. A good example of this is when you need to hack into someone's phone in chapter two. It's also vaguely explains certain things later in the game and this is done by your jerk of the boss. I don't get this since the beginning had a pretty nice tutorial.
I don't want to say it's a bad game. It's not actually. But honestly, the interface and lacking tutorial for later and important parts of the game make this not fun for me. If you're someone who doesn't care much for these things or good with tech/hacking, I'll think you'll enjoy it. The game is lacking a bit though in terms of really getting into these peoples' life and getting to know them. I wish it had done more of that because the chapters are interesting. Still, I'll change my review should these two things be changed (or at least the interface.) It's not a bad game and is decent, but for me at the moment I don't want to keep playing it.

The two negative things about the game for me personally are the following:
Voice acting isn't great. Sorry, but it's just very emotionless.
This one is minor but still: You have to click to continue a conversation. It would be nice if there was a timer to roll on unless you have an option to choose.
Other than that, if you like this kind of game and don't mind early access then it's worth a try, especially for £5 (when on sale).

Also, the demo is pretty sizable, the only downside is your save data doesn't transfer to the full game once you buy it so you have to redo all of that, which frustrated me quite a bit.

Really the only thing that broke the immersion of being a crime fighting hackermans were the grammatical errors in a large portion of the dialogue (admittedly some of which made me crack up) and some of the conversation choices were bit vague in how to go about solving. Neither of these things would be considered a real problem, everything was smooth sailing...until I got to the 2nd chapter where the game seemingly just dies/crashes every time I try to hack
Van's server
. I've tried multiple times, tried different workarounds, same result, I cannot progress my game due to this bug.
Obviously the game is early access, and I'm willing to change the rating when the final product releases, but the fact that it's unplayable for me now I cannot give a positive recommendation.

Bug has been fixed and a trigger warning has been added.
Appreciate the development team's prompt response and action.
Overall I like the concept and the gameplay.
*****
Original review:
I got stuck in the second case, where i was supposed to hack into Van's server.
I know the game is still in early access, however i would not expect that i was unable to proceed at all after a bug occurred.
Also I agree that with so much sexual abuse content involved, a trigger warning is definitely needed - not only on steam store page, but also in the game itself.

good control
good looking story
im very interested in the gogo thing XD
so much apps and programs that you can use
but
i know the game is on early access right now but what if aluba studio add co-op for this game?
a puzzle based game about hacking with your friends would be a good for 2 friend who has team speak or discord
to talk in them and do the story line together
it was a good game at all, if you are searching for a puzzle and hacking game, just buy it
