One of my favourite games, the Nanosuit and its abilities make this game really fast paced, even on higher difficulties if the player is skilled enough, which makes you really feel like a supersoldier unlike many other games that have you run into cover every 3 seconds because you are low on health. If the player wants to , he can also sneak through almost the entirity of the game, making the missions quite replayable.Graphics are still good even for 2021, so you can't do wrong by purchasing this game.

This game aged good, the graphics and the gameplay are insane although this game was released in 2011, especially the sound of the shooting is brilliant and you have a story with a length of like 10 hours which is totally ok in my opinion 8/10

Bei mir wurde der Pc sehr heiß obwohl das Spiel so alt ist xD ... das spiel an sich hat mir viel spaß gemacht, allerdings führte es bei meinen pc zu abstürzen wahrscheinlich wegen der Überhitzung

Yay, another good game. It should've had kill marker sound effects. It's just so satisfying but overall the game was fun and funny when you realize how really insane the game can be. 4/5 it's worth playing

Crysis 2 is a fairly standard shooter, all things considered. While it didn't have the revolutionary tech or gameplay of the first game, it was still a really good looking game at the time. There's now RPG mechanics to improve your suits abilities, most enemies also wear the suits and all of the levels are extremely linear compared to the first game.

Still, for a city setting, the game allows a lot of vertical freedom and approach to deal with the enemies of the game, now a mix of aliens and humans in armor standing in your way. It's merely an okay FPS, multiplayer was a COD-lite that is probably dead now.

The best game in the series. Which is funny to say, as this game was immediately followed by arguably the worst in the series. Languid pacing and awkward jumping doesn't stop the excellent story and varied weapons from making Crysis 2 an excellent game in its own right.

Simply the best in the series. Well worth playing now even with the remaster out. Runs great on moderns systems but it can still tank you PC if you use higher pressets. Crytek made nano suit more useful and the main character does not feel like a target practice for AI one hit kill anymore. The story holds pretty well and the transition from the original tropical jungle to the concrete New York maze was breath of the fresh air. Well done Crytek.

Playing it again in 2022 and it still brought me plenty of joy. Every move, every step reminds me of the good old after school times and the countless multiplayer hours. This game is still one of my absolute favorites even an entire decade of releasing.

I can't believe the game looks so good even after a decade. Sometimes enemies were too silly sometimes it felt like the cloak can't fool them. The story is straightforward, no free exploration of environment etc. go, shoot and finish objective. I enjoyed the gameplay.

Maximum... Stealth?
Played it on Post-Human Difficulty and it turned into a first person stealth game.
Played it on Normal difficulty and it turned into a typical solid fps shooter.

I enjoyed this much more than the first Crysis, even though suit management is still a thing and I don't quite understand why the Ceph changed from blue to red, however the gameplay is solid.

Very linear and while linearity isn't necessarily a bad thing, this level of linearity is too restrictive.

The graphics are poor. It's dark and lacks detail (despite the correct brightness settings on my monitor and in game).

There's pretty much no destruction.

The AI know where you are almost all of the time unless you are cloaked. If you do a silent take-down the human AI will immediately call over the radio and go investigate, unless it's Ceph. The AI can also see in pitch black without torches/flashlights or NV. Magic soldiers!

The stupid level up suit module shit is just way out of place.

Collectables? REALLY?

The story is a mess and is full of way too many cliches.

Far too many unnecessary quick-time events that doesn't suit the game.

Far too many cutscenes of *oh no, I'm Alcatraz, I fell and my suit must reboot*.

Cutscenes involving characters rendered in the game engine look awkward af. Some even talk to each other over the loudness of spinning helicopter blades!

Navy Seal CIA woman and Awful Accent Military Man are totally pointless and not necessary to the story.

The Hargreave stuff was just silly and effectively killed much of what seriousness remained in the game.

Prophet (towards the end) now speaks rather ghetto instead of the more serious tone he had in Crysis 1 and a the beginning of this game.

Overall, I am disappointed. Some parts of the game were good but most of it was sloppy, cheesy, downgraded console tat, with poor controls and no separate aim sensitivity for scoped weapons. Level designs were poor and cramped or poorly lit and the allied AI was too stupid (think a single marine running towards a heavy armoured suited alien which is about 4x the size of him). Also no flashlight, yet Nano Vision drains the suit energy quite fast, but worse when used in conjunction with other suit modes. This ends up making you sit in the dark, unable to see because as you exit armour or cloak mode, you cannot recharge your suit because Nano Vision is consuming it. This is crap design and ruins the flow of gameplay.

It's a bit long winded as well. While the game only offers around 16-18 hours it was very repetitive and kinda boring towards the end. Such a shame this followed Crysis 1 and Warhead. Those were two cool games with a good story, good voice actors, better graphics and far less cheesiness.

Well done for downgrading the game significantly for the sake of consoles.

Lastly, and yes I know this game is old but my points are still valid.

Edit: forgot to mention that despite playing the game at 120fps on maximum settings, gun reload animations are awful and lack frames. This makes the reload animation look terribly choppy as if you're doing it playing at 15fps.

So weird how everybody is giving this game good reviews... if you think this is a good game then it's no wonder why developers churn out such frequent crap and still make loads of money.

Crysis 2 is the continuation of crysis 1 and like in the first one you have to save the world from the ailiens again, only that this time you are not in the jungle on an island but in New York and that the humanity is ruled by a terrible virus. Crysis 2 is a very nice game which has a mega nice world and story, the story of crysis 2 is in my opinion, much better than that of the first one. Crysis 2 is just like the first one of my favorite games, I think that such a game couldn't be improved very much. I recommend Crysis 2 to people who enjoy action games and who want to play an exciting story and which love shoters.

Easily better than the first game and so much more beautiful. Still one of the best looking games even on the consoles! Too bad EA shut down the multiplayer for this game! Loved playing this game on the Xbox 360 and it's impressive how technically amazing this game looks and runs on that console!

I've played the first Crysis multiple times, I've seen the third one, so I decided to take a look at this one.

After experiencing my first playthrough, I gotta say that this game is a lot better than I expected.

I've heard a lot of people say how all the things that were really good in Crysis 1 got ruined in Crysis 2, but I have to disagree. I love how the new nanosuit works, it's a lot simpler to use and the HUD layout looks lovely, especially with how it moves depending on your movement, or how it glitches out in different situations.

The variety of guns is a bit wider, you can still mod them to your liking, you can now even upgrade the nanosuit itself, which I like as well. Thanks to stealth killing being added, it's much easier to... well, play stealthy. I love that you can also play like this against Ceph (aliens), but it's never really necessary, you can always go all out if you want to.

I think that there's a good balance between fighting Cell and Ceph (people and aliens), it's kept original and fun, and when it does start to feel like there's too much action, it throws a mission that's dedicated to stealth and during night as well, so it never actually feels that repetitive.

What I really wanted was to play around in water more, because it looks so good in CryEngine, sadly there are only a few instances when you have a reason to get in it. That's pretty much my only complaint about the gameplay.

I liked the story, the cutscenes were pretty much the only thing that looked out of place, but the game is 10 years old at this point so I can't blaim that.

Oh yeah, even though it's 10 years old, the game looks spectacular and is optimised reaally well. It gave me a good laugh when I saw that the lowest graphics quality setting available was High. I played the game on Extreme quality, and it rarely went under 60fps with my GTX 1050Ti (overclocked).

I definitely recommend it, it will give you almost 12 hours of fun gameplay that rarely feels repetitive.

Can't believe it's already 10 years. Really loved Hans Zimmer's track. Graphics look okay in today's standard, but the effort in making the campaign feels unreal. With this rather linear level design you actually have plenty routes of approach.

AI is pretty dumb.

It feels great to CQC with HMG.

A few bugs:
-Music won't properly play
-V-sync is ON every time the game is launched
-Cursor doesn't work when you have non-100% graphic scales in Windows

It's really hard for me to gave this game a recommended or not recommended because my criticisms of it feel pretty subjective. But hey all I can give is my own take on it and people can take that for what it's worth.

I love the original Crysis (despite its flaws, but all games have flaws) but this second game... I dunno. My biggest issue is the new suit. I dislike the redesigned powers/menu and I dislike the new voice. I understand that maybe they wanted to streamline it and make the new game feel fresh but... I thought the old suit was fantastic and this newer one with fewer options and IMO a cheesier sounding voice just doesn't do it for me.

The graphics are great but... still I prefer the way the original looked.

The new hud I really don't like. I think it's less clean and less sleek.

The game also feels more linear and lacks the feeling of scale that the original had, probably due to the urban setting instead of being set on an island.

So yeah I mean... don't get me wrong it does look nice and I can see why some other people might like it (again because my criticisms are mostly subjective) but it just feels kind of... too reigned in and console-friendly and has lost a lot of the interesting and unique things that gave the original much of its charm.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Good Game destroyed by the insufferable writing and characters the constantly keep shouting at you to move forward. They won't let you take a breath after a 30 min intense shouting and keep repeating the same dialogue every 2 second... 'Cmon Alcatraz Move Forward/ Cmon Man / Cmon Son'!!!

F*k*ng Shut the F**k up and let me play the game.

On top of this there is difficulty that is all over the place in different missions. Starting is a snooze fest and out of nowhere in 'Sempre Fi or Die' they dial it up to 11 and then again drop it to 5 in the very next mission.

The suit has been completely nerfed and messed up compared to its predecessor in Crysis 1.

Honestly, Crysis 1 is a legendary game, letting you play at your own pace, great story great characters with amazing voice acting. It let you slow down and soak in the beautiful graphics. You were silent as night when practicing Stealth and a BAMF when going into Action mode.

Compared to that, this game is a screeching monkey with down's syndrome rolling in it's own feces.

Looking at the quality of the graphics, the textures, the quality of the gameplay, it's really hard to believe that this game is so old.
These days, often games look much weaker. Super gameplay, for a few interesting hours. I recommend to everyone !

24hz/fps bug is still present. Only solution is to play with DirectX11 disabled, which isn't really a solution - it's just another problem. So you're kinda forced to choose between unlocked framerate with atrocious screen tearing, 24fps v-sync, or DirectX10 and smooth. I thought Game of the Year editions are suppose to fix all this stuff?

I'm sure the game is great but I can't comment on that since I never got to play it enough to judge it. I looked up several fixes for the 24fps/refresh rate bug and none of the solutions worked. So if you run into the same bug, my apologies. It's a pain in the ass.

I don't know what the fcuk is currently going on with this franchise. Two days ago the first Crysis won't work because it suddenly wants some registration code. Now Crysis 2 is crashing after the civilian evacuation. It only happens there. Game is broken and can not get beyond it. I see it is happening to other folks in the community. With all of the issues currently plaguing the first few games, I suppose Crysis is a fitting name.

I waited about a decade to finally play through Crysis 2, and, well, I have to say I'm disappointed. While I think the gameplay is okay, the lack of a comparatively more open world experience like the original really stops this from being fun. Further, Crysis was such a technical marvel, and this looks ugly by comparison, besides specific shots. I don't necessarily love where the story went in the series, but I will say they tried to make it interesting. This game just feels like a game made for console and ported to PC, and given the original Crysis's importance to PC gaming, that's just really unfortunate.

Probably the best Crysis game. Regarding of linear areas, and limited weapons/abilities that makes it feel like some Call of Duty ripoff, it was both, an improvement, and a downgrade at the same time. The story is pretty ok, and the soundtrack is top notch. Gives me constant adrenaline everytime I encounter the enemies. But don't get me wrong - the game's pretty hard if you don't know what you're doing. Play the game on the Post-Human Warrior difficulty - it's the only way to experience the true challenge that the game offers, along with planning your tactics right ahead for the next encounters. Graphics was way ahead of it's time, CryEngine had some limitations, but it was definitely a beast back then. The graphics is amazing. It looks surreal - and with the Battlefield 3™ destructive environment, it feels alive. It's Crysis 1's graphics style, but in a movie. It doesn't feel realistic, but rather feels like a movie. Like damn, I feel like I'm in an action movie, rather than a FPS game. In a good way.

Overall judging by its look it's like a mediocre CoD game. Only when you play it, you truly realize how good this game is. The nostalgia, the graphics, the soundtrack, the gameplay. It's not just a game. It's Crysis

This game definitely builds off the initial gameplay mechanics of Crysis and does it so much better. The gunplay feels much more satisfying and you have many more options for customizing your nanosuit with abilities that you earn while playing the game.

One thing that is very different is how the levels are very linear compared to the previous game, which I did not mind, except for a single section that seriously irked me. While we're on that, there is a much greater weapon variety which I appreciate. Two of the weapons do feel pretty similar, but I get why they are pretty identical to one another.

When it comes to military realism, this game certainly does it much better than the original Crysis but it still gets somethings wrong which seriously pissed me off. Broke the immersion in those moments but I'm a military nerd, so for the average person, it wouldn't bother them.

This game also plays with themes of man vs machine and gives some contextualization for the Ceph, which I did appreciate it. The characters are somewhat interesting but they don't develop much throughout the game. It's a shame but it is what it is.

The environment of New York City is spectacular. I absolutely loved every second of it. The graphics are also top-notch, even for this day. It's funny how games like Black Ops: Cold War, pale in comparison to this. Take a note developers.

Overall, this is a decently good game that I would recommend at the price point of 20 dollars or less. I wouldn't pay more than that, considering I completed this game in approximately 5.5 hours.

i have played this game multiple times outside of steam and pc, so pay no mind to the number of hours here(currently at 0.9 at the time of writing this). this game has gotten a mixed reputation. some say its a good game that employs the same gameplay style of the 1st game(which is a must have, go get it), while others say its far too linear and bug filled to be a worthy sequel to the 1st game. my opinion lies in the middle, ill keep it as simple as possible as to not waste your time. on one hand the graphics and gunplay are top notch, in even the medium graphics settings the game looks absolutely stunning and if your pc can handle it, it will keep that quality throughout the gameplay. as far as gameplay goes: for the most part its really good in my opinion, the gunplay is excellent and the level design in general is good, enemy ai is really intelligent at best and at worst just plain stupid, human combatants (or C.E.L.L) will patrol around the area and will take notice of any out of place sounds or movements, they'll even throw grenades and shoot at the last location they saw you at, when they spot you they will shoot at you, throw grenades, and in some cases they will even attempt flanking you, this alone is a good thing but the ai together tend to have almost zero coordination, making them a little too easy to kill off imo, however when they do get their act together it is a good sight. the aliens (or Ceph) are actually less intelligent, but they make up for this by being absolute tanks to any weapons other than the shotgun, grenades and other explosives, and headshots. unlike the humans who have the capacity for coordination, the aliens almost never seem to work together as a team, the only exception is when you are spotted. however this behavior is somewhat justified because they are aliens not humans, so aliens having different behaviors is a somewhat unique thing to them. as far as you go, your suit is an absolute powerhouse in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, and you have the ability to customize almost all of the weapons you pick up, meaning you have control over how you want to approach combat scenarios, the level design helps even further in that regard by being open combined with tighter in door areas. as far as bugs go they are very few in number and most of the time they are purely graphical issues and can generally speaking be ignored as they usually dont affect the rest of the game, atleast for me anyway, this is why i reccommend crysis 2, it may not be as good as its predecessor, but thanks to the quality gameplay involving the level design, it is a worthy sequel, and as a side note, if crysis 3 ever comes to steam, i will reccommend that one as well

Great game, not as good as first one, but great story, great graphics, fun to play, all good except couple of bad things and thats short campaign, bad AI that even on veteran difficult is easy to kill, 64fps cap. You can play it even on 2025 beacuse of graphics ahead of its time. I got it in EA play so it was kinda free and i enjoyed it and so will you. +1 from me to Crytek.

I am the weapon.

This was actually my introduction to the series of Crysis, and yes since I've now played the the original and understand the criticisms for the changes levied towards this sequel, I can't help but to still absolutely adore the time I spent with this game back in 2011. Multiple campaign playthroughs, quite a long stint on its multiplayer leaderboards, this game does indeed hold a special place in my heart.

Graphically and visually speaking, Crytek continued on with their industry pushing graphics, demanding the absolute best of any console and GPU at its time. Whilst the leap is certainly not what took place with the OG Crysis, it for sure holds up fantastically well to this day. CryEngine is a SIGHT to behold. The cityscape of tattered and ruined New York is intriguingly beautiful. The Ceph structures are differentiated amazingly well and when you do start coming across them once again, it really feels as though you've entered a whole new battlefield. Overall, the level designs reflect well upon the enemies you will face.

This time around you're not actually placed in an open-world, go anywhere, space like the first one; whilst many have decried this as being a downgrade to the original, I actually found it to have worked better honestly. The levels certainly aren't corridored, linear COD levels, they're actually sandboxes essentially and I found it to have worked better honestly. It allows plenty of variety in the levels, whilst still allowing you options! Part of what was so magical about the first one is still here y'all! I just don't understand the criticism around it. The gunplay is also improved , feeling much more beefier to shoot and the sound design on all of the mechanics from the suit abilities , explosions , weapons is off da chain!

This time around, you're not put into the shoes of Nomad, but actually a critically injured marine, Alcatraz, saved by a returning Prophet who bestows upon him the Nanosuit 2.0 in order to continue his mission in repelling the Ceph invasion. I actually REALLY enjoyed the whole story, so much so i replayed it a bunch of times way back. Alcatraz is a silent protagonist , but through his actions and working with the information that's been left by Prophet and other interesting characters you really come to feel connected to the story and the war that's taking place.

I thought the music in the original was alright, nothing amazing. But now it's simply WOW. They had Hans Zimmer coming to collaborate on this and what's produced is just pure epic in proportion.

Not quite the surprise, like it was the first installment, but a very good game nonetheless, with a better setting. Playing in a well rendered city it's more fun than in a jungle. It feels like being a war machine in the middle of a chaotic urban warfare.

Like Crysis, this is a masterpiece of gameplay but suit usage and weapon switching got over me sometime because of the many buttons and double pressing required. I feel like this could have been done in a better way.

I highly recommend it.

Its been a long time since crysis 1 and with a remake on the horizon i thought i'd try coming back to crysis 2 and finishing it. All the same kind of powers and a story that picks up on where profit left. Pretty fun gameplay being more of the same but location wise somehow i don't think i enjoyed it as much as the perceived freedom of the island in crysis 1.

Compared with Crysis 1 / Crysis Warhead, both of which I played like a thousand hours, this game is just plain bad.

It tries to be some Crysis / Call of Duty hybrid, where you get stealth nanosuit, but you're railroaded to follow extremely narrow path, so you can't do anything useful with it, and it just doesn't work as a formula. It's bad Crisis game, and bad Call of Duty game.

There's also a lot of minor issues, like lack of manual save (and huge distances between Call of Duty style checkpoints), non-intuitive interface, and weirdly poor mouse sensitivity. Overall, big not recommended, so many better games.

Crysis 2 is a game about a cripple.

You play as Alcatraz, a United States Marine with a funny name. New York is under attack from a deadly virus and some stupid alien looking things so you and your platoon are deployed to get killed. You don’t get killed but, fuck, they tried.

You’re saved by Prophet, the leader guy from Crysis 1 and he gives you his cool Master Chief suit before shooting himself in the head because he thought the look on your face would be priceless not taking into account that he’s dead now.
So now you’re a corpse in a gimp suit and you have to save whats left of New York from both evil mercenaries as well as stupid aliens that don’t know when to leave well enough alone.

Here’s something funny. When I first played this game my computer told me it detected a Trojan.

Crysis 2 is known as the “console” one, at least it was when it first came out. Its a step down graphically and has a lot more linear, closed in environments. I mean, I guess it makes sense, you’re in New York. New York isn’t really known for its lush jungles.
It still looks pretty good, though, or maybe its just an art direction. Just like real like, New York looks particularly disgusting, especially with all the trash and the people turning into human goop.
Just like real New York.

Shooting actually feels better in this one, with nice, satisfying CRUNCH when you kill a fool. There are some new weapons to play with, but its not something you can just write home about. CELL operatives are also dumber than their KPA counterparts, using rudimentary tactics to try and stay alive before I throw a trash can at them.

What DID improve are the Ceph, the funny little squid babies from Crysis 1. The Ceph are goofy squishy squid people, so they have to use exo-armor to actually do their human killing. But instead of being floating tentacle monsters that suck, they took a note from the Flash game Combat Instinct 3 and gave themselves MAN bodies to fight with.

The Ceph kind of make the game this time around, having more variety and more interesting encounters. They use their class-types to screw with you and basically fill the rolls the KPA had in Crysis 1 and Warhead, if in a glue-eater sort of way.
They’ll pin you down, charge you, melt you with superior fire power, even try to sneak up on you.
Also, they’re [really] fun to shoot now, making a impactful squish when you take them down, they basically fixed the Ceph from the last game.
You can also stab them now. Welcome to Earth, mother fucker.

Crysis 2 had a multiplayer mode, but its also shut down. I played it, it was like other shooters at the time, but you had suit powers instead of perks. I don't remember much from it other than Crysis 2 is another example why community servers are sort of mandatory.
Someone probably wants to still play it, I found people playing Starseige, you telling me no one wants to play Crysis 2?

Crysis 2 is alright, I don't know what else to say about it.
I found out last week that there's a Crysis 3, so I should probably play that sometime as well.

Crysis 2 gets a 7 out of 10. But loses one because EA ate the multiplayer. So Crysis 2 gets a 6 out of 10.

Overall speaking Crysis 2 is a Good Game. The work Crytek has put into the project clearly gets reflected. This time around the devs have made the already Near-Perfect Gameplay Mechanics of Crysis a bit more elegant with inclusion of new kind of NanoSuit Customization Mechanics to allow the players to suit to there preferred play types. Other than that a few more interesting weapons and features have been included along with a complete revamp of User-Interface. But the Story and Moment-to-Moment Gameplay could have been better.
So with all the new features and a little less than perfect story it will be still safe to say that Crysis 2 if not better is at par with the original Crysis and its expansion Crysis Warhead which were GREAT Games in their own sense.

+addictive gameplay with standard FPS mechanics + nano-suit abilities (invisibility, super speed, etc., mechanics and controls are far better than in Crysis 1)
+difficulty can be customized from easy to very hard, fitting for anyone
+perk-system allows to improve your character (although this is very limited because you can activate only four perks at once)
+captivating atmosphere
+cool soundtrack, main theme as well as in-game

+not many but very fascinating characters

-enemy intelligence is almost awfully bad

Conclusion:[b] There really is not downside to this masterpice, no flaws except for the story, which could have been a little better, and the stupid enemies. However, his gets easily compensated by the atmoshere and the interesting monologues. After playing this, I never played Crysis 1 ever again because it would be underwhelming in comparison. For me Crysis 2 is a much better game and a huge leap forward from the original crysis.

Make no mistake I still think that this game only is decent and that it is plagued with some issues but compared to the original it's miles apart and I actually had fun playing this.

Crysis 2 has a decent story and a nice flow and presentation of said story. The characters are interesting and the city really is well made and beautiful. The graphics are really a high point of the game with some very impressive visual effects for that time.

Almost every element from crysis has been improved and polished in this sequel.
The maps, while much smaller then the maps from the original crysis, have much better balance and more focus on progress and story and have a nice balance of enemies.

The powers have been improved and now actually works well in combat and has meaningful upgrades.

The enemies however are repeated shamelessly over and over again just like in the original. There are not many different types of enemies and the action can be a little simplistic thanks to in part the same enemies over and over again and the somewhat limited choice of stealth or armour. There are also some very badly placed save points in this game and the enemies themselves still have rather poor damage/ragdoll effects.

However compared to the first crysis this feels much more like a complete game.

A good FPS title that is sadly ruined by watering itself down for broader appeal and making up for technical deficiencies. Crysis 1 was a PC game through and through, while Crysis 2 is a console FPS trying its darnest to live up to its roots, but failing miserably under the weight of the inferior platforms it must now cater to. If you look hard enough, you can see everything good about the first game are still there, struggling against the shackles of the inadequate technology they are forced to work with. The smaller arenas, dumber AIs and horrendously linear level progressions are all outcomes of this, and despite its best efforts to re-enact what made Crysis 1 great, it was ultimately not to be.

Crysis 2 could have been a great game, there's wasted potentials everywhere I look. If Crytek had stuck to their guns and refused to compromise its identity for the sake of mass appeal, then maybe Crysis 2 could have even surpassed its predecessor, but as it stands, it just serves as a sad reminder why the proliferation of consoles is detrimental to the advancement of this industry.

Crysis 2 is the sequel in the trilogy of Crysis. The graphics are beautiful indeed. The gameplay is solid and it focused on the features of your cybersuit with Maximum Strength, Maximum Stealth and Maximum Armor.

A spectacular rollercoaster ride from start to finish with some of the best graphics and sound I can recall experiencing. Not nearly as open-ended as the first Crysis (which may disappoint some), but definitely better in every other regard.

If Crysis is Far Cry with a nanosuit, Crysis 2 is Call of Duty with a nanosuit. Maps have a level of linearity not seen in the first game or Warhead. The AI's motion sensing ability is off the charts, seeing as they can see you through walls often times, so the cloak is imperative throughout. Think of it as a stealth game first and a shooter second. If you get seen by one enemy, every enemy in the vicinity will immediately lock onto you even before anyone says anything and begin showering you with bullets in less than half a second. All in all, a good game. Still feels like Crysis, but the AI could have been programmed better.

Not like the original crysis by miles, if you expect something like the first game then you are going to be very disappointed. Also it just feels a like a simple console game that lacks on a lot of settings for a pc game, like being able to change the FOV, etc.. This is just a much more inferior game than the original.

I was all in when Crytek decided to expand the series outside the Lingshan islands we last saw in the original Crysis and its spinoff Warhead. I’m going to be as honest and unbiased with you guys as possible. Despite being a huge fan of the series as whole, I wasn’t very impressed with the sequel. It almost felt like developer Crytek was trying to make a much bigger and ambitious sequel to an already great phenomenon.

Pros

+Visually stunning and absolutely breathtaking. Crysis 2 showcases massive amounts of action set-pieces and Hollywood level of destruction. Playing this in 2011 on PC at max settings must have been every fan’s dream.
+Built on Crytek’s heavily modified Cryengine 3. The developers have pushed graphics to it’s absolute limits. Fine tuned and well optimized and also runs much better than the original. You could almost call it very expensive interactive tech demo. It’s a wonder this game came out in 2011.
+Combat feels smooth and crisp.
+Expanded weapon selection and upgrades
+The amount of detail put into Manhattan streets and is absolutely stunning.
+Epic soundtrack. Shoutout to EA for bringing in the “legendary” Hans Zimmer to compose the main title sequence. You can play the soundtrack through the main menu as well.
+Clean and modern HUD & UI.
+Using Nano suit feels much easier than it did in Crysis. You activate armor and stealth modes on the Q and E keys (by default).

Cons

-The overarching level design is far more linear compared the first game. This is a huge step back from the original Crysis as that game gave a lot of freedom to explore lush forestry areas and lush mountains and use alternate paths. This isn’t the case with most missions you get in Crysis 2. Concept was pretty solid as shown in the trailers but very poorly executed in the final game.
-Lacks a good compelling villain. General Kyong was a bit goofy in the first game but at least he had a realistic motivation and a sense of personality. In this game your main target is to fight the aliens or save an already destroyed Manhattan from something?
-Mediocre plot. It’s one of the most forgettable stories Crytek came up with as an excuse to shift the focus on urban setting. Even the comics had far better story to tell imo.
-No side missions or optional objectives.
-Some aliens felt like bullet sponges, not sure if this was because I chose a higher difficulty.
-Yet another mute protagonist with no personality and background.
-I’ll be honest, this game has a very forgettable cast of characters. The first Crysis had memorable characters such as Nomad, Psycho, Korean General Kyong, Dr. Rosenthal and finally Prophet. Sadly none of the people really matter in Crysis 2, I’m serious!
-There are a lot of unbelievable plot twists and too often a mission ends rather abruptly which brings me to Crysis 2’s ending. It has to be of the most disappointing final levels/endings according to me.
-No FOV slider. No way to change/override default field-of-view. Trying to tinker with config file always resets after every level/cutscene/restart.
-Boring pre-rendered cutscenes showing your GPS location from one part of Manhattan to other.
-Dumb enemy A.I even on hard difficulty setting. It could really detract you from the excitement.
-Strangely, the aliens look nothing like the ones Nomad and his unit fought in the first game.
-Multiplayer has been dead since 2014 following the closure of GameSpy.
-Quick saving is replaced by checkpoint autosaves.
-Few technical glitches and bugs.
-No quality of life features such as achievements, cloud support, local co-op multiplayer.
-Despite a solid mod support most Cryengine 3 mods have been abandoned.
-No achievements, cloud support, trading cards or local co-op modes.
-As of June 2020, EA recently removed/delisted Crysis collection bundle off Steam which included Crysis 1, Warhead at lower price and increased prices in nearly every country except United States.

The Bottom Line

If you enjoy first-person sci-fi shooters and want a visually stunning experience, then with no doubt go for it. It’s clear they spent big money on this project with EA being attached as funding partner and publisher. It’s fun as long as you don’t take the plot seriously. Play it like you’re watching a Transformers movie and you won’t regret buying this game if you’re looking for a solid fun and action shooter!
If you haven’t played Crysis 2 yet and plan to do so then please get it on sale, if you were able to stay away from this game until now, wait for it. Get it for $10 or less, nothing more. The multiplayer has been dead since ages.
For those who are wondering what does the Maximum Edition add to the single player, the answer may not be really that exciting as the name implies because, in terms of content pretty much nothing was really added however this is the fully patched, definitive version with high quality texture pack pre-installed. The story of Crysis 2 takes place couple of years after a limited 6 issue tie-in comic book volume published by IDW Comics. The comics explains Nomad’s journey after the first game and foreshadows how Prophet and Hargreaves fit into the Manhattan story. Maybe check that out if you can!

Kind of mixed feelings, Crysis 2 was my first game of the series and I enjoyed it a lot, but after playing Crysis 1 this game just felt a bit 'eh' in comparison. It's definetly still alright but it could have been way more. Story was kinda doodoo though. 6/10 for me.

The Crysis series has always been a benchmark for graphics. Unlike it's predecessor in Crysis 1, the game is much more linear. Gunplay feels solid.

Back on steam. That's excellent news. Solid linear FPS with plenty of fun to be found. Gotta say that intro cinematic is pretty close to 2020...virus, protests, riots. Crytek predicted the future?

Great series. This game was a disappointment at launch because it so radically changed the format and story from the first game, but it aged very well and now fits in nicely. I will say though, this game is buggy as all hell. Expect to crash to desktop a half dozen times on a campaign play through and have issues getting stuck in a few places requiring reverting to an older save.

I didn't try any of the multiplayer in this game, but as a campaign, it's a pretty fun time. There were a couple frustrating sequences, but one or two reloads later, they were done. I enjoyed the majority of it, and if you can get it on sale, it's a fun 6-8 hours.

Crysis, but console optimised, for better or worse. It's far less difficult to run than the original, but still has the graphical punch. The reason it does this though is because it doesn't have to render the large world of Crysis, which was one of the best parts of that game. It's still pretty sandboxy though, so it's still recognisably Crysis, and by no means a bad game. Just a different approach to it.

This game came out on consoles all the way back in 2011, which is hard to believe when playing through the campaign in 2020. It still looks great for the most part with only a few textures here and there that could be sharper. Crysis 2 comes from a time when single player campaigns in shooters tended to be longer and this one could have actually benefited from being edited down a bit. It's a cool game for sure with enjoyable gameplay, some well designed, big open spaces and entertaining set pieces. It's just that there are also some kinda boring and repetitive sections. If they had cut out some of the repetition and shortened the campaign slightly it would have helped the overall experience.

The game is way too easy on the normal difficulty but if you choose to challenge yourself by playing on hard mode, things get much more interesting. As you'll be forced to play more strategically by using more stealth and choosing the right weapon for dealing with the right kind of enemy. There are collectables available here too and an extreme difficulty that I tried out for a little bit. However I'm reluctant to play through the whole campaign again because of the length. This is mitigated a bit however by a well designed main menu which allows you to replay specific levels and doing this on the hardest difficulty is actually a lot of fun. There is even a 100% counter in the main menu for completing everything which is nice. However I read online that this is glitched because of one missing collectible resulting in a limit of 98% or something. I think this is because the multiplayer no longer works and it was the only way to find this specific thing.

The science fiction aspect to the story is pretty awesome and the developers really tried to add plenty of character to the main protagonist. However there is also alot of military style content in this game which at times feels too much like a poor man's Call of Duty. Some of this boring military stuff should also have been cut from the campaign or at least been made a bit less serious. Anyway there are alot of awesome moments here too and I found that the campaign improves a lot in the later levels. While I also noticed some influences here from other classic games and characters such as Half Life 2 and Batman.

Overall I had a lot of fun playing through this campaign in 2020 as it's still a mostly well designed and kick ♥♥♥ shooter especially when played on the harder difficulties.

A military scifi first person shooter. Don your high tech powered armour and fight to repel the alien invasion that threatens New York.

Said powered armour is your main edge over your opponents (and this game’s main gimmick). Your default movement speed is fairly fast, and even faster with the suit’s sprinting capabilities. You can cloak yourself to maximise the effectiveness of your stealth attempts, and you can greatly enhance your damage resistance to withstand heavy assaults. You also have vision enhancing facilities. These all use your limited (rechargeable) energy supply though, so hit and run tactics are encouraged.

Combat itself is fun enough. Good selection of standard (and cool) military weapons to choose from, with a few exotic weapons thrown into the mix. Enemies are fairly competent when it comes to killing you, and not being killed by you, though they seem distinctively incapable of handling explosive weapons, humorously so. Proper use of your armour’s abilities will deal with them quickly in any case, and skilfully mowing down enemies is very satisfying, usually.

The plot exists. Some things of interest, not much to keep you going on its own. The game looks wonderful and has some impressive effects, and some of the music can really augment your battles, whichever method you fancy.

It’s a fun shooter overall, would recommend to anyone fond of the first person shooters and military scifi things.

Crysis 2, the sequel to the infamous pc killer. A standard action romp through new york fighting an unknown alien threat. The gameplay really shines through in this title, feeling mostly refined. Unfortunately this game drops the open world sandbox style of the first game for a linear action experience. I really enjoyed the sandbox aspect of the first game which really had me disappointed at first. But after giving the game a full playthrough I can confidently say, this is a more focused and good experience. Story, graphics, and action feel very refined. Making this a good pickup if u can spare a few bucks. Did have a few tech. issues aswell. Overall I'd give Crysis 2 a 7/10

CRYSIS 2

After such an epic and chaotic experience, I'm about to review 'Crysis 2' which elevated me thoroughly. It's been a long time since I completed it for first time and it was so notable that even driven me after 7 years. Crysis 2 has been carrying very convincing contents such as story-line, visuals, soundtracks and more. It kinda never fails at engaging your concentration. Now, let me be more informative.

Story

'Crysis 2' resumes and takes us farther away on the story of Crysis. To me, it was verily engaging as it contains a solid plot I think. We've been through alien invasion-battles before. But this time, we're going even deeper, things got more chaotic and mind-breaking. The way, we're clarified about each events, also the in-between continuation of incidents throughout the whole story, I found it overwhelming. So, that's what I'd say about story.

Insight In-game

Let's talk about insight in-game, meaning all the contents, features and their mechanisms given in-game. Throughout it's in-game play, we're at both choices of stealth or gunning around. None of them are so spontaneous if I'm recommending you to play it on higher difficulties. Firstly, you're handed with a tactical-suit that which comes with impressive abilities to infiltrate and battling, in-game world itself helps you at proper stealth play. So you can either pull up a strategic plan, go stealth or just violent, epic elimination spree with tons of incredible weapons, equipment. But I personally had the summation of both kind of plays, enjoyed it myself. It would be a shame if the suit isn't performed by all the abilities in battlefield. You can also customize your weapons and upgrade the nano-suit by collective points. I think, in-game mechanisms aren't faulty, they worked out just fine.

Visuals

Well, what should I say about it's visual qualities? World already knows how beautiful and photo-realistic they are. Visuals of Crysis are developed by 'CryEngine' and they are still incomparable and happens to stay on a different kind of stage. Crysis 2 was developed in around 2011 which is actually a pack of 9 years til now and there are very few ones we can bring up against it.

Soundtracks

Even here, we surely know who composed the official soundtracks, it's the iconic 'Hans Zimmer', my favoorite composer of all times. He's the reason behind such beautiful, ambient and orchestral BGMs of Crysis 2. Among all soundtracks, 'Epilogue' is my most favorite, then comes 'Aftermath' and 'Main Theme'. Even those briefing intros are fitted with mesmerizing BGMs. Soundtrack is the thing that builds up the situations, atmospheres and makes them more intensive, immersive and Crysis 2 got it.

So guys, here's my review and I highly recommend it. Even though, there are very few ones who didn't try it, it's for them and my dearest appreciation to the developers.

Crysis 2 is a very underrated FPS that has lived somewhat in it's predecessor's shadow for almost a decade. It also arrived at a time when Call of Duty was dominating the genre and Battlefield was heading towards its golden age. With a more linear campaign when compared to the original and a seemingly tacked-on MP, people can be forgiven for overlooking it at the time. However, it is very much worth obtaining particularly at a discounted price.

The game is set in New York amidst an alien invasion which is a partial continuation from the original game. You assume the role of Private Alcatraz who has gained ownership of a highly powerful Nano Suit from a late Delta Force solider called 'Prophet'. Battle the ongoing threat from the aliens as well as CryNet Special Forces wanting the suit for their own means as they pursue you thinking you are codename Prophet in what is an interesting plot in a fairly basic overall narrative.

Visuals and effects are absolutely outstanding which still hold up today and the music is extremely atmospheric. The campaign lasts about 8-10 hours depending on difficulty and is packed with a variety of missions. Gameplay mostly revolves around shooting and stealth but despite a limited selection of guns, linear levels and a few suit upgrades, there is plenty on offer in what is a really entertaining and highly polished experience. An absolute bargain in the sale.
