I've played this game and the single player campaign is very epic, I like how you can explore the Solar System including an asteroid heading towards the Sun which was among the greatest Call of Duty missions I ever played. People really hated this game despite the fact it's actually pretty good. This more than qualifies as a fun and playable game. It was nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be.
If Activision announced at the same time of the infamous trailer that a World War II game would release next year, I don't think people would be as angry of Infinite Warfare's reveal, they had already planned to release a World War II game, they just didn't announce it until after the game released. Infinite Warfare is a good game and I can't find any reason to call this game a critical failure.

I, as a person that is not exactly what one would call a CoD enthusiast, think the story is one of the best standalone ones the series has to offer, the characters are fairly likeable, the setting is interesting, sure the movement feels a bit janky at times, but it is definitely an enjoyable experience.

Has the one of the best Call of Duty Zombies modes ever and pretty good multiplayer. The Campaign is also reasonably good, but even just buying the game alone for the zombies mode is worth it.
(is a bit expensive on steam tho)

The space launch and the implementation of space battles in fighter jets moved the bile of many fans who couldn't bear to see their favorite series evolving while they were still sitting in the same basement at their parents' home. However, the truth remains that a brand as successful as Call of Duty needed to kick in a new and interesting direction - calmly straight into space.
The core of the campaign is based on the classic futuristic cliché, when the Earth's mineral reserves ran out, humanity spread across the solar system and new colonies emerged on Mars. But as the next generation of children born outside the blue planet came, cracks appeared. One day, the Martians began to see red, they decided to declare war on Earth, and you found yourself right in the middle of it.
At the beginning of the campaign, you will be promoted, get your battleship, and in the spirit of guerrilla warfare, start jumping around the system and wrecking the main villain played by a movie or series star - this time Kit Harington, whom you know from Game of Thrones.
The problem is that Infinite Warfare didn't do well in timing. Since the game was released just after Battlefield 1, it does not prevent a direct comparison, from which it does not come out victorious. I expect the same loss from the latest COD Vanguard title, which comes out at the same time as Battlefield 2042.
Nowadays, Call of Duty simply no longer reaches the qualities of the competition. I hope I'm wrong. 55%

Perhaps one of the most charismatic one of these in a long time? It's not without flaws: The villains are one dimensional to the point of making GI Joe villains look nuanced, the side missions feel like filler content, performance on the PC version is iffy, gunfights can become chaotic a little too quickly - and yet, there's an earnestness about Infinite Warfare that shines all the way through. It almost plays out like a more militarized version of Star Trek or a compressed Mass Effect game with other influences like Star Wars and Halo thrown in. Plus it easily sports the best dialogue and voice work ever sported in a Call of Duty game to date. The characters, though archetypal, have real emotion and motivation that even some of the series most iconic characters of the franchise can't even muster. I mean good lord, there's a robot in it that sports a Texan accent and even he gets a solid arc!
And as much as I complain about performance, this is still a stunning looking game. My jaw probably dropped a good two to three times in every other mission due to some set piece or scenic vista or massive warship hurdling right at me. I know the game got a LOT of crap for the shift in setting but honestly, it payed off for me. And in an ironic twist of fate, this might be the first COD that actually acknowledges the sacrifice of war. Beware of mild spoilers but during the end credits, audio messages can be played that feature the main cast dying and wishing their loved ones a better life. No game in the franchise up to this point did that and it hit me fairly hard, if I maybe honest.
About a year later, WW2 was released and despite that game make a big hoopla of being about the sacrifices of men and women in arms, I can't help but feel this space faring fable did it several notches better. Hell of a tale, I say.

Cons: There are too many characters who died in this work, and all of them are unpredictable ones. The villain has no aura, whose face makes me laugh. The cabin structure of several side missions in the later period is repeated, and the number of weapons of this work is not much. It's still the kind of real gun modifying. Moreover, the difficulty of this generation of veterans is too simple, whether it is a human or a robot, it will be over with a pulse.
Pros: Although it’s a space battle, it’s comfortable to keep the COD’s laser gun feel. The big plus points of this work are space ship driving and the description of battle scenes in space junk, which is a good sense of substitution. The plot is still great. In terms of characters, most of the supporting actors and even marginal characters of this generation portray very well.
In short,it’s recommended. The flaws are not concealed.
How magnificent the space, how gorgeous the battleship
How cruel the war is
Not all captains can take the crew home safely every time
Not every player is alive after the NPCs leave one by one
The Retribution, with almost one's own power, turned the tide in one day, and gave the people on earth time, what kind of heroism!
Call of Duty:Infinite Warfare single-player campaign is of course very short. It takes about ten hours, but the touch left to people is indeed permanent. Finally, I almost cried when I read everyone’s suicide note.
Breathtaking.
Peace to the fallen.

The campaign is great fun, very cinematic and immersive. Has good action and no level feels like a slog, I don't love the flying sections but they are OK.
The story is super cheese but hey, it's a COD game.. what do you expect?
If you can snatch this on sale then definitely get it for the campaign.

Campaign is excellent. Story is captivating.
Mulitplayer is dead, if you want to experience what it would be like play BO3 multiplayer instead.
Graphics are beautiful.
Music (80s) and Score are finely crafted.
If you got the $$ and enjoy single player games, this is a good time dump for zombies mode with a memorable campaign.
Wait for a price drop, if you can get the pass the additional Zombies maps are equal if not better than Zombies in Spaceland.

The game was mainly hated because it came out at a time when most didn't want another futuristic COD game but honestly this game is quite solid and dare I say better than Black Ops III even which came before.
Gameplay is basically the same as BO3 but with some minor tweaks and different weapons, Multiplayer is pretty standard but has some nice looking maps and all modes can be played with bots and in private matches with friends and it's honestly qutie enjoyable albeit very by the numbers.
However the thing that sets infinite Warfare apart for me is the Zombies Mode. The Zombies Mode is great here as you get a nice giant map called Zombies In Spaceland to start and it's basically a trip back into the 1980's complete with 4 nerdy stereotypes from the 80's as playable characters, David Hasslehoff himself as the DJ and a secret playable character as well as awesome 80's tunes to listen to while you kick some ass and take names as well as many fun traps AND YOU CAN PLAY ARCADE GAMES.
There is also some quality of life improvements made such as being able to reload while sprinting, The ability to retrieve your weapons from Lost & Found if you die, the Wall Weapons are very viable and actually last you, you can deposit points into an ATM so other players can withdraw them, allowing you to share points. You also now can carry 5 perks instead of just 4 and you can return a perk you don't want anymore simply by going back to the perk machine. Speaking of perks the classic ones you know and love are back with new names: Juggernog, Speed Cola, Double Tap, Quick Revive, Mule Kick, Stamin-Up, Electric Cherry and PHD Flopper are all back along with 2 new ones in the form of Trail Blazers which lets you set a Back To The Future Delorean Fire Trail behind you when you slide that will ignite Zombies who touch it and Slappy Taffy which increases the strength of your Melee. These 2 new ones aren't anything special but it's nice to see new additions. The Fate & Fortune cards are also here and they are basically gobblegums from BO3 but imo are done way better, the only negative about them is that you are limited on Fortune cards which really is cheap and the only way to get more is through crates you unlock by earning keys from playing. There is thankfully no way to purchase any keys outside, but still having this system is pretty bad in general
Really I can't express enough how good the Zombies mode is in this game, it's super addicting and honestly is better than TreyArch's Zombies in some ways and you absolutely should play it if you haven't yet.
Now I haven't mentioned Campaign yet as I haven't played it but from what I can see it seems to be a very good campaign full of fun levels alongside very relatable characters and some emotional scenes.
So Overall Infinite Warfare is a really solid COD game that sadly gets a bunch of hate that's unwarranted. It's not perfect or amazing but it's still a fun game with hours of enjoyment to be had, I would absolutely recommend it. However I wouldn't recommend it at it's current price as 60 dollars is way too much money for it, if you can find it for around 20 bucks or less, I would say that is worth the price. Fans of the 80's should absolutely love the Zombies mode

Anyway, enough with the marketing and business motives, lets move onto the game: Right, so I'm going to be perfectly honest; I came into this game with pretty much zero expectations, baring mind that this game came straight off the bat from BO3 that had a campaign that I just really could not get behind. However, with infinite Warfare I was blown away by the campaign, it tackles themes of responsibility and hardship that mixes together to make an emotional experience, (I'm doing my best to avoid spoilers) and I think it's partly so effective because of the fact that it's Call of Duty, a franchise not particularly known for its hard-hitting themes and truly emotional storylines (At least in recent years).
The Campaign is incredible and may take the cake for the best COD campaign. YEAh fight me.

Multiplayer sadly dead
Zombies is fun, a few of the Easter Eggs are extremely difficult solo.
It's NOTHING like treyarch zombies, so if you're coming looking for that, you're not going to find it here.
It's different but its still good, it lacks the serious tones of the other game but it makes up for it in goofiness.

The acting and the characters are top notch and you will actual give a damn for them. There’s a robot called ETH-3-N (Ethan) who you meet at the start, he’s funny at times and a welcome addition to the team.
About the negativity the game gets. Maybe its because at launch they paired it will Modern Warfare Remaster and the only way to get Modern Warfare Remaster was to purchase it with this game… such an idiotic marketing move… but hey, that's marketing for you.
If you wanna try a real good space themed first person shooter with a little arcade space combat you should really enjoy this.

When the trailer for IW came out 4 years ago, I really didn't bat an eye, because it was just S.S.D.D. Another trip down the lane for COD. So I didn't bother to play
Picked up the game during a sale on newegg 2,3 years ago or something, can't remember, still didn't play it.
Then a week earlier, my friend played it and said it was good, decided to play the campaign and boi, was I wrong.
The campaign theme, well for me, was solid, gunsounds, sounds, basically everything were solid, well except for character buildings, music and ending. The game was just came out at the wrong time. I was hooked into playing the game.
The multiplayer is the same shit-storm in Black Ops III and I really don't care about multiplayer, not until Modern Warfare came out.
In overall, the campaign was solid, so worth playing it

Fix your games (broken achievements), ban your cheaters, make your DLCs affordable (or FREE, who would really pay for this broken garbage?) for your dead games so it doesn't segregate your gaming community. Instead I paid $7 for this abandonware and feels bad man for only 30% of the game experience.
Bonus: when you are Queuing up in a lobby that never fires for lack of people, you can enjoy hearing the Bible spammer in that lobby

If this was not a Call Of Duty game, I believe it would be much better received by gamers and first-person shooter fans, as COD fans were wanting a boots-on-the-ground game and hated on this simply because it went in the opposite direction. It takes the great gameplay of Advanced Warfare, sets it in the distant future in outer space, and adds new elements such as zero gravity movement and wall running as well as new fighter pilot missions that are a lot of fun. The story, while not being anything particularly special (though not nearly the worst in the series; that honor, in my opinion, goes to the cringe-worthy Ghosts) and featuring fairly one-dimensional characters and factions, is serviceable and has some memorable, heartfelt moments featuring Ethan, a robot with a humanoid personality akin to BT from Titanfall 2 (a game similar to Infinite Warfare but with more fluid movement and creative level designs; I'd recommend playing that first if you like more parkour-style FPSs).
Unremarkable story aside, there is a lot to like here. The gunplay is as solid as ever, and the missions (which, along with a variety of side-missions, you select at your leisure from your mothership's console à la Mass Effect) feature some massive, stunning set pieces and beautiful locales in a variety of planets, ships, and asteroid fields. The wall running is a tad stiff but opens up new combat approaches, and the zero gravity sections are wonderfully executed and feature some fun elements such as melee attacks from a distance (which grapple an enemy, either bringing you to them to them to you, and executing them in various ways such as removing their space helmet or placing a grenade in their suit). I found these missions and the fighter pilot and stealth missions the most fun; flying around in space targeting enemy planes and dreadnought canons & engines is intensely action-packed and perhaps the best addition to COD yet, and avoiding detection while infiltrating enemy ships introduces some good tension.
All that said, Infinite Warfare may not be the best entry in the Call Of Duty series nor one of the best games of the last few years, but it is a good game that gets an undeserving bad rap. Simply being a COD title seems to be the main gripe people have with this - if it was not affiliated with the franchise, people who hate on it would likely praise this as a good futuristic action-FPS. I can't speak to the online mode (as I am one of those weirdos who play most shooters almost exclusively for their single player modes), but the campaign is solid & well-optimized (with no bugs or glitches I experienced and a 120FPS cap that is maintained at 1440p with an RTX 2080 Super), and I continue revisiting it three years on. It's worth picking up for fans of the genre, especially those into the setting and movement style.
