BESTES Call of Duty! was soll man dazu noch sagen, es ist einfach DAS Original. Muss man gespielt haben, an das Game kommen die heutigen CoD Teile nicht mehr ran.

Das Spiel begleitet mich schon seit über 6 Jahren. Meiner Meinung nach immer noch das beste Call of Duty, dass jemals erschienen ist. Das Handling der Waffen wie auch der Flow, den man durch das rushen über die Map hat ist einzigartig und bisher unübertroffen. Hervorzuheben sind ebenfalls noch die Möglichkeiten durch das Modding und die überaus spaßigen Runden nur mit Snipern. Quickscopes und Trickshots mach in diesem Spiel einfach nur Spaß. Von mir daher eine Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ...

ein Klassiker. Auch wenn bereits hier die klassische Call-of-Duty-Formel greift und man sie wie auch in den anderen Ablegern der Serie kritisieren könnte, war sie damals noch nicht so abgedroschen und brachte durchaus einige neue Elemente mit. Habe das Spiel damals gelegentlich noch auf der Xbox 360 eines Kollegen im Koop gespielt, bescherte uns einige spannende und unterhaltsame Abende. Für all jene, die das Franchise kennen, aber auch Neuankömmlinge einen Versuch wert. Wer mit der Grafik nicht mehr so ganz zufrieden ist, kann sich auch stattdessen das Remake schnappen. Das habe ich zwar noch nicht gespielt, es scheint aber den Kern des Spiels gut in ein neues Gewand gehüllt zu haben.

Not to be confused with the dogshit that is the new modern warfare. It’s a good old fashioned call of duty game but instead of being set during WW2, it’s basically set during the Gulf War. I’d say it’s quite difficult. Beating this on veteran is…something definitely beyond my ability. Multiplayer, if anyone still plays it, was good. I’d describe it as being the closest that CoD has ever come to CS. No co-op is a shame, but whatever. DLC is included for no extra charge. Unlike CoD:Fortnite.

I've put way more than 11hrs into this before I got it on steam.

Anyway long story short.

Get it, it's fun.

You don't need a quantum computer to run it like Ark or any other demanding game as such.

Strongest cod title out there by far.

The story is amazing, so many iconic voices like Captain Price and Gaz guiding you through to the very end, lots of Russian terrorists to fight, nuclear bombs, and plenty of geopolitical drama that defines cod.

On top of the story there is also an arcade mode which is unlocked after beating the game, you can go for the high score as you please and attempt to earn bragging rights, multiplayer also kickstarted the prestige system so you get additional bragging rights if you make enough progress.

9/10 game, not every aspect of it aged perfectly but just enough so that it's still a very enjoyable experience

An overpriced husk: a shoehorned and confused campaign which thrives off of memberberries and nostalgia.

It doesn't hold up.

I never played this in 2007, I played this one in 2021.
I haven't touched the multiplayer and don't have bias for it. The weapons systems are what you'd expect from Infinity Ward right out of COD2; at times I thought I was playing COD2 - some of the death-hint UI is an exact delineation of COD2's.
The story is a half-baked mess with level design that never graduated from the former. For instance, the so called 'epilogue' should've been a starting-point for Act 2. This game did not step above its previous installment, opting for more assets and graphical output like blurring to pad game space. When I saw under 10gb I should have realized this was going to be COD2 2.0.

This game could have been a step above: longer level design, not reusing time limits to pad level-time in a level setting and a story that congealed better than whatever mess this was. Modern Warfare instead set a precedent for future Call of Duty games by definition - modern warfare, which is completely ambiguous ultimately leading to stale content.

I would say, story and shit is good. The only problem is, i hate the level design. Overall the game feels intense, gameplay is fun (sometimes). Overall this game is good great story, but i hate the level design. I recommend it for players that have a sense of realism for FPS games. As the first game in the series, it's alright.

**BUY ONLY ON SALE**
This game is definitely worth it for the campaign alone. The game respects you as a player and gives you some of the most amazing action and story telling from its decade. If you really enjoy FPS single player campaigns, this one's a no brainer. Again, I recommend you buy this game ONLY when it's sale. Its current pricetag is batshit insane for a two decade old game. Even its pricetag on sale is still a bit high. Moving on, this PC port holds up really well. Runs well, no crashes, no major issues. There were moments where the game would freeze, but it only happened to me twice and that was because I was alt-tabbing in between loading screens. You will most likely have no issue with this port. The campaign will run around 4-5 hours. Depends on difficulty and how long you take of course. Lastly, if you do beat the campaign, wait through the credits and you'll get dropped into one fun, short, and final mission.

Some precautions before purchasing this game:
- Given that this is originally a console game from the Xbox 360 era, your FOV will be 70 with low scaling. If you're prone to motion sickness, you might have to see if you can somehow adjust it, but personally, I got used to it pretty easily.
- The game uses an anti-cheat called Punkbuster, and you'll probably be greeted with it when you first launch the game. You can completely ignore it if you're strictly playing campaign.
- Lastly, knowing that this is a Call of Duty game, it can get a little graphic.

Lets be real all the new cod games are absolute trash . Cod 4 is the ONLY cod game worth buying or playing. Just do yourself a favor and buy this game now. You're probably saying every game has its issues whats wrong with cod4. Legitimately my only complaint is that people in the US who play this are so bad that the vast majority of us serbers with less then 100 ping are hardcore. The normal cod has populated servers under 100 ping sometimes depending on the day that isnt hardcore but its mostly a rare occurrence. 100-150 ping servers theirs plenty non hardcore. I see a lot of reviews that talk about hackers, ive not run into 1 hacker in 15 hours in game time. I have been accused of hacking though atleast 5 times. People are just bad and angry that they cant buy a dlc weapon that 2 shots everyone for 50$

Best Call of Duty game to date. Played hundreds of hours on the disk version.
The fact that the multiplayer is still very alive after 14 years says it all.
I'm going to risk sounding like a boomer here, but they really don't make games like this anymore.

This game holds a deep place in my heart started out gaming online of this game back in 2009. Ah the days coming home from school loading up this masterpiece and hanging with the boys. Man bring them days back game is old put still played and most server are full and this is for a reason people come back to this as the new crap just isn’t the same as this 50 THOUNED USED TO LIVE HERE ... NOW ITS A GHOST TOWN.

I love this game, but I'm mad about Mile High Club on Veteran. It's almost impossible. Good luck. It's the hardest Call of Duty level ever created and if it was a person I'd slap the shit out of it. World at War was easier on Veteran even with the grenade spamming. Welcome to hell.

Epic game and the start of the wonderful MW series.Modern Warfare along with MW2 and MW3 has the most exciting storyline and campaign mode.I strongly suggest this game to anyone who likes FPS games.

Unbelievable game. Best CoD of all time IMO. I’ve recent bought it on PC after playing 40 odd days on Xbox. Is there no normal lobbies on PC such as a regular TDM or is it all like custom lobbies? I’m too used to my Xbox way of life

OLD, but GOLD it is pure nostalgy to play this game in 2021. When i first plaid with this game it was 2008 damn time flies.. Anyways graphics are decent about the gameplay what do we have to know ? its cod.. you know cods.. Dont expect hiper super ultra realism as Russians are running with G3 and other stuff but the story is loveable this is the original cod. only downside of this game is the price. They havent lowered it since it came out and nobody wants to pay for this game 20 euros / 20 dollars because not so many play the game only cheaters on multiplayer or ya know veterans who are impossible to beat lol i just got nostalgic and wanna play out again cod 4 - mw2 - mw3 then my life will be complete :D anyways.. buy the game if you want to have some nostalgy or buy remastered for better graphics at double price lol

Classic cod, nothing more to say really, but ill try.
Great maps with few exceptions.
Balance is ofcourse not cods strong suit but its okay here.
Alot of servers are still online and the graphics are decent for the time.
Would recommend, way better than the remastered version.

A 13 year old multiplayer, that still has a ton of players? Amazing.

I mean, nostalgia alone is incredible. But, here is a fully functionating community! Multiplayer has this raw feeling you don't get in many other games. If you get hit once, you likely die. Which is frustrating with other shooters where you shoot somebody 7 times and they still don't die. This game sh1ts on the newer multiplayers, having most of what we need.

With a campaign, that spawned the best Call of Duty series we will ever get. Creating so many memoirs, charterers and other games down the line. But, this is the worst Modern Warfare campaign experience. Firstly, this game punishes you extremely hard for trying to play it your way. Extremely demoralising you for creativity, wanne go stealth as SAS? the highest ranked special forces in the world? Ha, no. You can't decide how to approach anything, if you try anything that has not been placed in this linear game, you die. This is especially exhausting when you play Hard or Veteran. The episodes are also rather dull, compared to what we see in the later games. However, this was a huge leap from the past Call of Duty games. I still highly recommend playing this before the rest of Modern Warfare. 5/10

This is the first COD game I have played, and it truly attached me to the characters and story. While the story, combat, soundtrack, and graphics do not hold up as much as there predecessor MW2, this game is a must play in the franchise. The game also still has my favorite mission, All Ghillied Up.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a FPS, which plays in the near future and the player has to use the modern weapons and equipment to be successful.

One of the brightest point in COD4 is the gameplay. This is a FPS, and if you played the previous installments, missions won't be so different (like explode something, clear out a building, cover teamates etc.), but the weapons and other equipment makes the game more better. Almost all of the weapon are useful and the equipment you can get, like granade launcher attached to your gun, claymores which explode if an enemy go into its way, C4 throwable bomb and lot other which brings fresh air not just from previous COD games, but to the whole series. Not even mentioning the superb multiplayer wuth multiple gamemode and fun gameplay... so nostalgic. Of course if you play the single player campaing, that also very good and there are some legendary missions, but after a playthrough, you unlock the arcade mode, where you can collect points to get placed higher and play with cheats. Nit bad at all. If I can recommend something
about the single player, that would be do not ppay thengame on veteran. I played through the previous CODs on Veteran, but this is seriously the hardest game and difficulty I have ever played... and it also breaks the game kinda... and you. Seriously if you hate someone, just give it COD4 Veteran, it's a nice thing... but playing this game is fun...

and the controls just makes it much better. In general, it's so responsive and makes the player's movement more free and easier. There are smaller bugs in it, but works fine, the amount of buttons are not that bad as it first seems.

About the graphics, I remember when this game came out, the graphixs was next level. Made in 2007, but it's still a good looking game, except some graphical bugs and weird elements. Aged quite well.

About music and sound is really on point most of the time. Music is legendary and fit to the game, really brings the cinematic feeling. Sound ost of tge time is good, but sometime thr shot sound just disappear. Don't know why, but hapoened with me sometimes.

Let's talk about the story, because this COD starts to tell a story in the Modern Warfare series. In this game, story not bad, but really typical American movie story, which is not that bad, it's a fine start for this series. There are characters in the game, which probably Price is a deep character, others not really (Soap is not really give too much about him, he is nit deep in here), but this is a fine start. It's nit a next level story, but plays at different nice places, and this is the ramp for the whole Midern Warfare series.

I think COD4 is a must play game, especially if you can find servers to play ine, because thats where this game a best at it. Ut's not without problems, but definetly a good FPS from this era. I can recommend geting it, but 20€ is really expensive for it, get it somewhere cheaper around 10 I guess.

Mordern Warfare is a linear first-person-shooter, which is about a war between terrorists and american special forces in the present. In the game there is a very great story with a nice soundtrack and an impressive action-gameplay. In my opinion the best was, the special missions with your squad. For example the takeover of the cargo ship, the stealth mission in Chernobyl and the chase on the trucks.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare | November 4, 2020 | [★★★★]

I'm only reviewing the Campaign here, although we know that multiplayer make this a powerhouse series, This brief experience is still among the best. In outside perspective, Call of Duty really looks like a generic shooter, but if played right; could be an ideal tactical simulation.

The things that stand out to me the most is the companions. The way they breach and called out actions is fantastically implemented paired with the smoothest and satisfying combat gives you a refined involvement.

Despite the fact that it's getting old, having a noticeable vertices and aging texture; The graphics are still a beauty in my eyes. The way they designed it is one of my favorite things about linear games; where the atmosphere is giving you the illusion that the world is actually massive.

The last Call of Duty games I've finished was Call of Duty 2 when I was about 11 years old and I don't even know what we're actually fighting for there. Now that I can understand a bit of things, I'd appreciate now how they portrayed wars through different eyes to show the carnage of it.

in 2020 i really recommend you playing cod 4 remastered
but if you are a low spec gamer like me
i really recommend this high graphic game(on its time)
on an old pc

there is no problem with the remastered edition
but its literally the best cod ever
escaping from a sinking ship
crawling form a crashed helicopter while dying(aftermath chapter)
and one of the best endings in entire cod franchise

one of the biggest revolution in gaming
and its not dead yet(the are still many servers)

so if you want to try it

then go for it

where do we start... call of duty modern warfare is nothing short of brilliant it has an amazing story and really great realism for the year it was released. the character are amazing we got gaz,kamarov,zakhaev,SOAP, and of course captain price (in my opinion better than frank woods). i'm not going to play the multiplayer as punkbuster anti cheat wont install but anyways i really enjoyed this and i think whoever reading this will too :).

Call of Duty 4 is a fast-paced and intense shooter that delivers some appealing performance, yet in my opinion, it doesn’t have much value to revisit, unless for nostalgia (especially in 2020 the multiplayer is pretty much dead), much like a Hollywood popcorn movie. And talks about popcorn movies, even the story, visual effects, narrative and music selection can see influence from Hollywood movies at that time.

I like the way the game narratives the story. It uses different characters as narrators to observe a big event. In this way players can experience different types of military action like infiltration, secret op or frontline battle, making the gameplay more diverse, but also makes the story more realistic and engaging. For example, [spoiler]players that experienced the nuclear explosion might really feel the severeness and necessity of stopping the nuclear crisis in game. [/spoiler] That is why I say it has appealing performance.

As for the gameplay, in 2007 it probably was the A-class. But compared to today’s FPS, gunplay feels a bit rough, but I think it still holds up. A few levels at the beginning are quite chaotic. Enemies and gun-blazing are everywhere. It becomes really hard to spot enemies’ whereabouts and quite often I ended up shooting my comrades. I felt I was pulled by the game. After those levels, I was able to pace myself and enjoy the game.

I played a little Modern Warfare when I was a kid, but I never finished it, so I decided to replay the whole series in 2020. But if you are not like me looking for some nostalgia, you probably should get the latest Call of Duty to have the best experience.

Simply an amazing game! the story and the missions were unique and re-playable. Obviously since it is an old game some of the graphics may be unimpressive but the missions and guns still look great. One of if not the greatest COD games ever!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the first COD game I ever played. The campaign missions are what I remember most because at the time, I had never seen anything like them before. Captain Price is definitely the most iconic character of the series and will forever be the face of the entire franchise to me. The feel of the gameplay and visuals has actually aged surprisingly well, even when I compare it to the beautiful but unstable Remaster that was released in 2016. Objectives and scenarios are varied across the campaign and the arcade mode is a fun addition for those looking for an extra challenge. If you consider yourself a fan of Call of Duty games, then it is critical to your mission to take the shot in Modern Warfare. Game on.

The Modern FPS and masterpiece that has defined almost all shooters since then. Amazing gritty and real storyline and plot with great shocking moments. Amazing multiplayer that has also defined all FPS and even third person shooters to this day. I love this game so much but the sequel is my personal favorite. The Modern Warfare Trilogy by Infinity Ward has amazing Anti war themes which are important in these kinds of games.

I fucking hated MW 2019 now this is my safe haven, still has a sizable playerbase (1000-2000 people regularly) Promod is fucking fun as hell, dedicated servers are amazing. Campaign is a pure nostalgia trip. Oh, and make sure to downgrade to 1.7 so you can play populated servers. <3

Okay this one definitely caught me off guard, both in game and out. I've strayed away from the COD franchise because... well I'm not really sure, I mean it doesn't get the best rep. Without spoilers this game was fantastic, not the most polished thing ever but that's hard to think about when the story is as good and immersing as it was. Will most likely play again. Also, if for some reason you've never played an FPS game and you see this review, please at least play on normal difficulty. 9/10 game overall.

I just.... wow. What an amazing game. I never played this when it first came out because I was too young to play violent video games (thanks mom) but this game has shown me what CoD is supposed to be. The gameplay, the story, the strategy, the way the music makes you feel emotion/stress, just a beautifully executed game. I can't recommend this game enough. This installment is a breath of fresh air compared to the new, cash-grabbing CoDs. Going on to play MW2 now.

Call of Duty 4, published in 2007, was the first of the Modern Warfare games and has just had a remastered re-release. It was so big a hit that the developers at Infinity Ward successfully held Activision to ransom to create a follow-up. The single player campaign is only 7 hours and the multi-player died a decade ago, so what’s all the fuss about?

The plot crosses the globe in search of a Russian extremist attempting to start WW3. It’s pretty rubbish as a plot goes and you are not going to be wowed by any new weapons here; it’s standard fare. Assault rifle, sniper scope, rocket launcher and grenades of various use – smoke flash or simple blow ‘em up. None of this is new. You switch between playing a US Marine and an SAS soldier on various missions that gradually unravel the story and it’s great stuff. The graphics are genuinely impressive, you do feel like part of a much bigger force and if you do not push forward you will not succeed. The rest of your forces will fight around you but will not advance far without you. The well thought out levels offer plenty of variety in what is not actually a very varied game. You mostly just fire guns at things but it is disguised in all the varied modes of travel and combat. The Call of Duty games have always been good at this with gameplay and here they give you some stealth sniping missions, full scale battles, downing helicopters with rockets and of course the hold the fort mission. You’ll find back routes, clear rooms, secure vantage points, fire the chain gun on a chopper and in one superb mission you take control of a helicopter gunship using heat signature television targeting to blow up enemies, trucks and clear a path for your troops. It’s very realistic, right down to the radio chatter revelling in the destruction you wreak.

The noise of combat and your assault rifle in particular is great, you really feel like you are dropped into the middle of a battle zone and if you don’t find cover you will be killed. And this is the first gripe; the game, whilst looking great and creating a genuinely excellent ‘in the moment of battle’ atmosphere, does not give you a great deal of chance to plan things. You have to play it as a cover shooter, so you are staring at walls and corners of rooms a good deal of time and there is an element of ‘Who fires first, wins’.

The game is also too easy; ammo is strewn everywhere and you can only run out if you stand still. It’s fun but too easy…ok so just select a different level of hardness. Sure, but that just means the same game just with more soldiers and this means more staring at the walls and more of a cover shooter. So increased difficulty just means swarm and cover, not a fun answer. Add to that the ridiculous pin-point accuracy of enemy grenade throwing and it does detract a little from the glory of the game. Seriously, you can quite easily play and not die from gunshots if you keep an eye on your regenerating health, but you absolutely will die to the circus knife throwing levels of accuracy or every single enemy AI grenade hurled your way. And you’ll die like this a lot. It’s absurd. This aspect is like CoD 2 all over again.

The music is not really up to much, the game largely relies on the noise of battle and that works well for what it is. There is also a sense that the game is essentially on rails, there are no weapon choices or tactics to focus on. You are only given alternative weapons to your assault rifle at the precise point you are required to use them…conveniently stacked up against a box in a barn and everyone in your troop stops where they are in cover until you follow the game instructions to use them. It’s a little bit forced. So strip it all back and you have a pretty basic shooter with little need for strategy, just point and shoot and keep moving. It works well for the most part, except for the inexplicable moments when your expert lethal combat colleagues just sit 100 meters behind you and watch until you have earned the Victoria Cross single-handedly clearing a half a house; you are on the verge of bleeding to death out of your eyeballs unable to face off another soldier if they come round into the room, screaming at the map in the bottom left hand corner ‘COME ON! Move you idiots!’....and they don't.

But after all this…it just doesn’t matter, because the pace of the game and the variety of missions make for a visceral, noisy, moreish adrenalin pumped journey you can and very well might play in one sitting. Throw in some surprise events and you will finish the game drained and feeling the shock of the loss of some key personnel around you in the story. It’s great stuff and a must play in modern FPS games...that's why it has a remaster. There’s nothing new here…and we all know there won’t be in the CoDs that follow it either, but we’ll still put in a new magazine and peek around the corner to have a look won’t we?

I was never a CoD fan. I'm 38 years old and played this through for the first time after a couple attempts in the past.

I must say, great fuckin' story m8. Holy damn, not very long, but solid story. And for those who want, MW2 Remastered was a great way to follow this up. 9/10 would recommend.

I love this game. It was the game that got me into shooters. Its probably the reason I'm pretty alright at them.
That being said, gotta give it a down vote on steam for the price. I'm sorry but $20 CAD is FAR to much for a game that's so old, kids born after it was made are almost graduating middle school. To add on to this there honestly isn't that much content in this game, so unless you get it for a much discounted price(as I did), I would say don't buy it.

One of its own standard as a game, its soundtrack and story unite the player with their portrayed character, as one. You truly feel as if you're either in or part of their fight, and that immersion is broken more than I'd personally like, but its gameplay and 'do it your own way' strategy are what makes this game better than most, including the remake-remake, Activision-Blizzard's 'Modern Warfare'.

The game is good, I picked it up specifically to finish the campaign because I want to finish all MW games. It's solid game and didn't encounter any bugs. Definitley don't pay full price though, try to find it on sale or on a discount website.
