Burn Me Twice is a narrative adventure that combines investigation segments, in which you can explore the enigmatic town of Düstenburg, with trials that will test your knowledge about the case.

To avoid being burned at the stake, the witch Abigail von Rattenhartz must collaborate with the Inquisition to solve supernatural crimes.
Even the smallest mistake would cause her execution, if it wasn't for the intervention of a mysterious entity that gives Abigail the power to relive her last day alive.

Explore the medieval town of Düstenburg. Investigate its charismatic habitants and learn their secrets. Revisit the same day until finding all the evidence you need, and use them to uncover the truth in exciting trials.

A lovely indie adventure-puzzle game!! I enjoyed it a lot!

P.S: I encountered several bugs, including one that corrupted my save on the middle of the game and I had to restart (u have 1 save slot that works with auto-save on checkpoints).

I would so love to recommend this game, but I can't, because due to a major bug it is impossible to finish!
The bug is that you cannot kill the very first skeleton you encounter. So you cannot finish the (very engaging and well-written!) story, you cannot get the last achievement, and it all feels really disappointing and frustrating.
This bug has been known for a long time apparently and has still not been fixed! Such a shame.

Cute aesthetic, nice and short, fantastical, appealing.

I can't recommend this game, however, for the following reasons:

*The graphics are terribly optimised and there's no way of changing their settings to compensate. In some parts I had to play with ~5FPS which just wasn't enjoyable.

*It's BROKEN. About half way through I got trapped inside the scenery and had to restart from the previous autosave. That's fine, I thought. Autosave to save the day. I then discovered that the autosave function is bugged and doesn't work, meaning I had wasted about an hour leading up to then. I restarted, and progressed all the way until just before the game's end, only to learn further that myself and many other people are unable to complete it due to another, more devastating bug, which [spoiler]makes skeletons unkillable[/spoiler], and therefore prevents you from moving forward with the story.

*There are also multiple spelling and grammatical errors which add to the overall jank of the game.

It's unfortunate since without these issues it would've been a fun little adventure

It's fun and playable until after the murder trial, then it's lag and bug, i cant get past the first skeleton cuz the shooting thing doesn't work. Also they recommended the game pad but it doesn't work with it, the controls are also pretty confusing so they should put at least a small guide in the main menu so we can see which controls work.
Overall everything before the end of the murder trial is pretty fun and linear for the ones who likes a linear type of storyline.

I didn't run into any bugs like other reviewers, it seems the devs already patched them according to the patch notes. I had a great time playing, exploring and talking to all the different characters. It's free, fun, and worth a play.

I really enjoyed this game. It's a great concept, interesting, lived-in story, and good graphics. There are a few bugs, and some parts felt like they were a bit unfinished, but good on the whole. I would love to see a more polished sequel.

The game is pretty good. I didn't expect much from a free game, but this is great. There are some interesting puzzles, it's exciting to explore this world, and I'd really love to know more about the lore! The second chapter with the graveyard and the mansion is my favorite! All the court thing seems to be inspired by Ace Attorney series, which is good. Sometimes I got stuck, bc didn't know what to do, so some of the puzzles can be not very obvious. Also, it is kinda laggy, but I don't think it really spoils gameplay.
9/10 Totally would play again.

Light puzzle solving and exploration will carry the unlucky witch protagonist through a narrative with dark secrets and villains. Some tasks can be overly specific or tricky to resolve.

Probably only the second Free game I've not recommended,,,,,,

Try it, its Free....but:

For no reason it's laggy and the game play stutters. The graphics aren't that detailed or realistic so its weird that my computer is acting as it is and not when I play games like Dead Light or Tomb Raider.

The controller support is a lie. Its not NOT supported but if I've got to use my keyboard anyway because the A button isn't registering on the controller, despite being able to use the controller to move, then the controller isn't actually supported.

I probably wont play it again

Overall the game is pretty good. It looks nice, it has some good puzzles, and it even has some good lore. It's let down a bit by the linearity though. I played this because of the time travel, but really that's just a failsafe to keep you from getting a gameover. You still have to do everything to open up an area again if you reset time, or even reload your game. And in fact if you're thorough you shouldn't need to reload time at all.

The biggest stumbling block for me was that it's a little buggy. There is one sequence in the Steinberg manor which just didn't trigger for me, which ended up with me wandering all over the rest of the areas trying to find the last clue. It wasn't until I watched a let's play that I realized I had to move in a full circle around the upper floor of the manor in order to trigger the doors unlocking. I probably would have finished in half the time if that trigger had been less awkward. Although that did give me enough time looking at the clues that I figured out the plot twist well beforehand.

Also the third chapter is completely different. It goes from being a puzzle game to being a shooter. Which is just abrupt, and it's not even a very good shooter.

Which sounds like a lot of criticism. But really it was a fun little game. And it's free. You can't beat that price for a few hours of gaming.

Very cool story concept, and as the first game made by this studio it is well made, with only minor errors that do not affect the gameplay experience in any way. I would change the difficulty of the trials as they are too easy. I would add a gameplay element when roaming the realm of the dead to make it more dynamic, such as an evil spirit that tries to catch you if you spend too much time in the realm of the dead, or spawning skeletons or something that need to be killed, just to add some danger to exploring the realm of the dead.

Nice little game that left me wanting more.
It seems to be heavily inspired by the Phoenix Wright series, similarly splitting gameplay into investigation phase, where you hunt for clues and evidence, and trial phase where you present what you've found in court. The major difference is that the trials are rather simplistic in comparison - unlike PW, there's no witness interrogation, and the evidence pool is much smaller. On the other hand, investigations seem more involved - it has Zelda-style gameplay (sans combat for the most part), where you explore an open world from a top-down perspective and solve puzzles. There are unfortunately only two cases to solve (plus the actiony final sequence), and the first serves as a sort of tutorial, so it's easy and straightforward. The second one, however, is pretty good, with a few somewhat challenging puzzles to solve.
The main con for me was the final sequence, where the game suddenly turns into a simplistic shooter without any warning. Additionally, there are some bugs and a glaring lack of optimization. But for a free game that appeared out of nowhere you could do much worse. I'm looking forward to what the developer will do next - hopefully that'll be a bigger sequel with more content and more involved trial sequences.

This game seemed to have potential, but really fell off for me and became a bad experience.
Pros:
-Interesting story. I like the idea of being a witch and having certain powers that no one else has. Being immune to the virus or being able to go to the realm of the dead. It's a good concept.

-Good artwork. I actually really really like the art style of this game, and I think it looks fantastic and suits the game well.

-Enjoyable dialogue. Though a lot of it was filler, talking to the NPC's was somewhat interesting. Part of that may have been from the fact that it was a break for walking which was a majority of the game.

Cons:
-Pacing. The first trial compared to the second is extremely jarring. The first trials progression is very linear and straightforward. As soon as you finish that trial, the second one gives you 3 open areas to explore, which feels very jarring compared to the linear first trial.

-Bugs. I got softlocked twice which is why I stopped playing. It's fairly annoying you have to go back and do things over because of getting stuck somewhere you couldn't get out of. This happened to me when I tried to enter the gravekeeper's house, and when I was in the mansion. In the mansion, I fell out of bounds, and when trying to stun the gravekeeper he just stopped moving and I couldn't go in his house.

-Not much gameplay. Most of the game just feels like a fetch quest walking simulator. Most of the time you're just picking up items to interact to get another item. In the end, the evidence doesn't really have much depth to it. You just present the obvious evidence and the game goes on. I spend a large majority of my time playing this game walking around.

-Lack of direction. Related to the last point, a lot of the time I had no clue what to do. To actually figure it out, it took walking to all 3 areas in the second trial and finding the one thing I could actually interact with to make progression. In the first area, it feels extremely odd that you don't get any evidence from finding the ritual area, and then it feels like you're missing evidence whenever you only got one piece from the slums.

-Realm of the dead. It's a cool concept but feels pretty bland when you're actually using it. There isn't much actual substance when it comes to what in it rather than the beginning evidence you get in trial 1. A majority of the NPC's you find there are just filler dialogue.

I think this game had some real potential, but in actuality it fell pretty flat. It's a nice game to play for a short while if you have nothing else to do, but it's not something I'd actively want to play. I will say this review is from the perspective of someone who didn't finish the entire game, but it didn't really feel like it was worth while after I got softlocked for the second time.

Great Adventure game with an Interesting Story!
This game has a nice visual style and feels polished. Both the story and the world this game presents has depth, and details are sprinkled all over the game, which gives even more depth to the story and characters.

It's a short game, but, well worth checking it out.

General Impression: Game Is Amazing in depth: Game glitches a lot if you having your inventory open and talk to someone it gets stuck and the controller buttons don't work you can move with it on controller but can't hit any of the other buttons for actions. The Graphics are beautiful and the world feels linked really well together the puzzles are complex but not impossible and the story really keeps your attention overall loved this game.
Edit: Mikel plays told me you can use the shoot key with space and enter was finally able to complete the game for 100% of the achievements :D
