Undemanding and leisurely. Rewarding puzzles that arn't a bit Dusty Bin. Touching moments with some real emotional engagement as well.
This game keeps throwing lovely little touches in at just the right moments which keep the interest up.
It is a game you can pick up and really enjoy your time with it, without that feeling you get about having to grind to just git gud before getting a proper feeling of progress.
Highly recommended if you don't mind slowing things down a bit and not killing stuff with guns.

Although the gameplay is different, you always feel that siblings should help each other. I don't have a brother or sister, even though I am an only child, I always felt this situation while playing the game. In addition, after the producers made this game, they created the footsteps of a masterpiece called A Way Out exactly from this game.
Definitely play, the price of Steam discounts also drops a lot for this game.

10/10 !!

Came back to review it almost a year after playing it because i have such fond memories of playing this game.
Usually i play a game and just finish the story not to think about it ever again.
This one was a different story, a different game as all others before.
I could not understand a word what the characters we're saying but the story is written in such a way that you could feel the story.
You we're part of it.
A story about action, adventure and grief.
The puzzles we're easy but that is not why you want to play this game.
It's for the magnificent story you play.
I see reviews here about what people find it worth.
But i'll be honest. If i can buy a good book i would glady go to 20 bucks.
regardless of the amount of pages.
I do not care for the length i care for the content.
This is one of those golden gems you will not find again in a long time.
if it's discounted or not, BUY THIS.

In-Depth Review
Visuals
Despite using characters that look like clay, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons makes up for it with its stunning backgrounds. Backgrounds are made in great detail and although they don't look too realistic in close range, the lightning and foggy effects help to make it stand out with layers of depth. I was amazed most of the time, seeing the whole scenery shown to me from afar.
Story
The story is told without words. Well, the characters are talking, but they are doing it in a language that you won't understand. You're bound to interpret the story yourself based on the characters' gestures and hand signs. Animations are also fluid enough and the soothing music helps to enhance the feeling. The ending might be predictable to some, but the presentation won't leave you disappointed. The soothing music, the characters' animation, and even the game mechanic help you to relate to the characters.
The Game
Gameplay
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is unique in a way that you have to control both characters at the same time. Instead of having an active and inactive character that is following the active one, both characters are always active, allowing you to move them without any delay. The control is made simple because of this, with you only having an additional button to interact in addition to the four-directional button to move. This turns the seemingly two-player game into a one-player game, especially with the additional mechanic where you need to cooperate with each other.
The game does a good job of balancing both brothers' roles. Everyone has different things that they can do - the little brother can fit small gaps while the big brother can do most of the heavy lifting. There are also some occasions where you have to use both characters at the same time, making them hard to control due to the number of buttons that you must press. Remembering both brothers' roles will be an important factor to progress the areas as it will be required after clearing an area that focuses on another mechanic.

Length and Difficulty
I finished the game in 4.1h. The game can be tricky sometimes, especially since puzzles are so obscure. It can take some time to find interactable objects in the area, and even if you found one, you might have trouble if you forgot what each brother is capable of - it happened to me several times since I was still struggling at the controls. Although the game isn't hard to beat, some parts are annoying. The flying scene never tells me where I was supposed to go and I didn't know how to control the boat properly.
Problems
First, you can't control the character sometimes due to the number of keys that you need to press. Note that this is a normal issue for keyboards, and the store page clearly states that it's more suited for controllers. Second, there is no keybinding for the keyboard. It's tiring to press the right control button when you need to press the arrow button at the same time. Third, it's not clear that you need to hold the interact button to activate it. Lastly, some areas require you to hold two buttons for several minutes to progress.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2502350653
Conclusion
I liked how this game looks beautiful despite its simplistic visuals. Characters and backgrounds blend extremely well, and the music that accompanies behind it helps to draw you into the game. It's nice to see the beautiful world that both characters have to explore, although I admit that some areas gave me trouble - there were times when I hated the game because of it. At the end of the day, it's still a good game, especially if you like to see beautiful sceneries. It's very short though, so I would recommend buying it at a sale.

Don't judge a book by its cover
The bright colours and cartoonish aesthetic might trick you into thinking it's a children's fairy tale. Nothing could be further from the truth. The world is shrouded in sadness, pain, grief and death. While some story beats were predictable, the game had the last laugh in the end.
The game relies on its environments and pantomime to tell the story, as the characters talk in gibberish, and there is no in-game gibberish translator. It employs the same method for conveying the brothers' personalities, adding their distinct colour pallets to the mix as well. Naia has a blue and brown shade, with his actions being more formal and mature. On the other hand, Naiee has a mischievous and cheerful personality, complemented by the energetic and lively yellow and orange tint. But, underneath his exuberant exterior lies a pain-ridden hearth, tormented by the demons of the past. It's amazing how much the game conveys to the player without saying anything (looking at you Kojima).
Co-singleplayer game
I would recommend using a controller due to the unique control scheme, but if you want, you can also use a keyboard (please don't). You control both brothers simultaneously - the thumbsticks (LS / RS) are for movement and the triggers (LT / RT) for interacting with objects and NPCs. The bumpers (LB / RB) rotate the camera, but the auto-camera movement does a great job on its own, so it's rarely needed, if at all. Simultaneously controlling both brothers can feel a bit odd at first, but as you finish the tutorial, you'll get the hang of it.
The gameplay is divided into two parts - puzzles and platforming. They are easy and straightforward. As a casual puzzle/platformer, they aren't here to inconvenience you in some way or give your grey matter a workout. No. Their simplicity aims to enhance this weird and unique control scheme.
But, simplicity and repetitiveness aren't the same.
The gameplay begins to suffer because of this towards the end. Many puzzles and platforming segments repeat too much or are just simple reskins. You'll do the same things - push, pull or hang on something, in the same manner as you did in many prior segments. A shame definitely, as there are a few creative segments that require Naia and Naiee to work off each other's strengths. More creative stuff like this would have definitely made the gameplay mechanics shine more. But, overall, I enjoyed the unique approach this game took with its unusual control scheme.
Final Thoughts
While it suffers from repetitive puzzles and platforming segments, the innovative control scheme, the few unique puzzles it has, and a touching story make Brothers A Tale of Two Sons a game worthy of your attention.

I never thought a video game could bring a tear to my eye, but here we are.
Brothers was a game that was recommended to me by an old friend who unfortunately is no longer with us; so I have a weird emotional connection to it. Maybe it's a bias, maybe its something more, I don't tend to think to much about it... but as most people will tell you I am not an emotional person.
It's setting, graphics and story will engage you without the need for dialog.
Sometimes the controls are annoying, but I think that's the point.
It's pretty dark, but in a beautiful way.
It's pretty short, but doesn't overstay it's welcome.
It will make you stop and think about what you're doing.
Some of the plot twists are obvious, but that might be the point.
You won't see the big twist coming.
I played this game a long time ago, but I still remember it so many years later.
Is it worth $15? Maybe. Is it worth the experience on sale? Absolutely.
If you already know the twist, the point has already been lost, it will never come back and nothing you or I can do on that will revive it; thus is life. If you already are in the know, I cannot recommend a purchase, but if you are unspoiled like I was, and you let this game hit you, it goes below the belt swinging and is willing to leave you on the ground sobbing.
Rest in peace Adam, thank you for the experience and all you gave to me in life.

If you're looking for a cheerful challenging puzzle game this is not the game. The game explores some very dark themes later on so be prepared.
Play this game with a controller as it works the best (not sure if it's even playable with keyboard).
Despite this being a puzzle game the puzzles are very easy. However I think too much difficulty would take away from this game as it's less about the gameplay and more about the journey and the bonds between the two brothers.
This game is also short which is impressive considering how much of a connection you feel between the characters in that short time.
Play this game. Wait for a sale if you're worried about the length.

Especially, they wrote a story that would affect someone who lost someone in their family. It was very impressive that at the end of the game, while the little brother was on his way home, he was able to solve the difficulties he could normally solve with his brother alone. Life turns you into a big man if you don't have a spell to covet.

This game creates a new gimmick where you control two players at once. I found that the controls on a controller were intuitive with both thumbsticks controlling each character and both triggers offer an action for both characters. This means the game chooses your actions, but that doesn't distract too much or make the game so easy that you get bored, as again the storyline is the main focus.
The main story is about one specific brother, mourning the loss of his mother who seems to have drowned in the sea. As he leaves to be with his brother and father, he finds his father very sick. The two brothers are sent by either a doctor or priest of sorts to seek out a potion to heal their father. The adventure they go on is filled with small puzzles that require the two brothers to interact together.
The story is cute, told without words, and the world that it is told in is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully rendered. The devs know this so they gave you some benches here and there to sit down and get a good vista view of your surroundings.
I played this a bit a long time ago when it first came out, and got distracted and went to play other games. However, I'm so happy I came back to this as this was a definitely a unique experience that I recommend everyone give a try. Once you get a hold of the mechanic, the short, but immersive story of the two brothers will get you hooked and finish it up in no time. It shows that I played for four hours, but I restarted from my first time I tried in order to start the story over rather than hoping I'd remember, so it can probably be done in less than 3 hours time.
Do not miss this game, it's that good.

But when you factor in the storyline and the cute, though not quite my cup of tea graphical style (though I'm not a great fan I can see that they're going more for an art style that many others will love), I give this an enthusiastic recommendation.
The game is a short, but very emotional ride that doesn't follow the path you may expect it to.
The controlling two brothers at once with analog sticks worked fair, but not great (probably a ME issue, not a design issue). For whatever reason, my brain kept wanting to associate the opposite sticks with the characters they controlled (as in through the entire game my initial instinct was to control lil' bro with left stick and big bro with right one). Thankfully, very few instances I found where tight control and quick reflexes were required. It's mostly a slow paced, forgiving (just don't let go of action while shimmying) game and if you like story games, if you like emotional experiences, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Breathtaking experience
+ Great storyline. Full of twists and very emotional.
+ Great platforming.
+ Possibly one of the best CO-OP support.
+ Beautiful visuals. Level design is fantastic, it's very linear, but well designed.
+ Extremely interactive environments.
+ Beautiful soundtrack.
+ Cinematic experience.
- Could have more puzzles.
- Characters mumble instead of talk. I know it's intentional, but I was never a fan of it. At least if they made a fictional language, they could've made english subtitles like Magicka games did.

WHAT I LIKED:
+ A mother drowned at sea, a father succumbing to an incurable illness and an arduous quest to the Tree of Life. The sorrowful world of Brothers undoubtedly crafts a poignant yet palpable tension between the player and the carefully constructed world. The events these two siblings face, such as a pack of ravenous wolves stalking them and a rampaging giant attempting to crush them, test the very intricacies of their relationship, with each level dramatically progressing their bond. Before you know it, the epilogue arrives and you've subconsciously become invested in their journey. And yes, it'll rip your heart out.
+ Sidestepping round perilous cliffs, mounting billy goats and even hanging on a glider. Each of the seven chapters are thematically, aesthetically and paced differently from each other. The world and its levels create an entire character within itself, making for an exploratory albeit linear quest.
+ Taking inspiration from various tombs found in the beloved 'Tomb Raider' franchise, the obstacles these brothers must face instigate several strategies in order to overcome them. From co-operative climbing to mechanical manipulation, each puzzle felt refreshing and regularly changed the pace of the game while still inspiring teamwork.
+ Each brother is controlled by one of the analogue sticks (played with a controller) instead of consistently switching between as found in many other similar games. Bravely relinquishing the true co-operative experience and sticking with a single-player journey cements the innovative controls that, whilst take some getting used to, grants each brother a metaphysical link with the player. Especially during that epilogue where the controls are somewhat changed (I was silenced for a good ten minutes after the game ended...).
WHAT I DISLIKED:
- Graphically the world looks beautiful, gorgeous even. The character models however were too stilted and polygonal, juxtaposing the luscious world they inhabit. The 'Sims'-like verbal communication between them heightened the outdated vibes even further, to which a non-speaking narrative would've enhanced the emotional investment towards the siblings more efficiently. The first half of the game admittedly lacked this required investment, which may turn several players away from the simplistic story.
- Carrying that sheep across the bridge took forever...
VERDICT:
8/10 boys playing with a ball, to which I come along to steal the ball and throw it down a well...

I don't think I would replay this, it's a good way to kill time with something nice. It's got a great co-op feel to it, and it's good to see something different. Two brothers really does a great job showing the story of how brothers take care of each other, and how they differ. You can see each one of the brothers interact differently with the world and that adds a level of flavor to a game that I do not see often enough.
I would give this a solid 4/5

Very beautiful game. It's not easy to play alone, but the story and the world itself are worth it. I adored it, but if you are not sensitive to sad stories (though not real ones) - you don't need this game. It is a short puzzle. The story can be finished in about four hours (including times you can't find the solutions for long or repeat the same place). I totally recommend it to you. Because it is worth what it costs.

???? The game is too short (2h-3h of gameplay only)
Thanks Thiago Duarte for the gift ❤

Anyhow on today's pricing I don't think it is worth it. So if you find this game in a bundle or sold cheap I would definitely recommend you to play it this short but magically, and sad story.

Story: Do not play this with a child. It get's suddenly very dark, then even darker, then sad, then
much, much darker and sadder.
. Major plot spoiler:
Press the action button to weep from the depths of your soul! No literally, that's what the button does at one point.
It is difficult to find a stage without a beautiful and stunning view. These scenes are not only beautiful, but also show what a great world these two brothers have to go through to achieve their goal and how important this collaboration is for their success.

The controls are a bit weird at the beginning but you'll get used to that fast, this is a very story driven game, there is a few puzzles but not hard at all, basic things to keep you entertained while you move from one place to another.
Most special thing about the game is the story, mainly about the importance of family, better not to read a lot of reviews in case people spoils that, lately the game is on high discounts so it's a perfect time to play it, it's short but well worth it even at the asking price let alone at 1 or 2$.
Highly recommended for anyone who likes light adventure or story rich games.
NB: They wrote it requires a controller to play it but it also works with a keyboard.

Puzzles
The feeling of accomplishment does not stand on just finding the solution, as the puzzle themselves aren't all that difficult to decipher, but also on performing the required actions. The need to control the siblings in tandem messed with my head and made that interaction stand out as different from most other games.
The clumsiness of moving the brothers independently of each other, the complementarity of their individual strengths, the clever level design in imposing scenery... That all together draw a joyful mood I have not experienced before.
Emotional depth
Part of the game's charm lies in simple, context-sensitive interactions with the environment. You will know the brothers through these brief, optional moments which help mould this adventure into something truly heartfelt. Communication through mime, intonation and an incomprehensible language is the game's unique storytelling accomplishment.

But oh boy, does it ever get you right in the feels :(
The onion ninjas were working overtime here...
(I did a second play-through to get 100% achievements. Not too difficult, and there are great guides)
*Edit - doesn't actually require a controller top play! I did the whole thing twice with a keyboard.
