Was soll ich groß sagen? Amanita Design macht so unglaublich liebevolle Spiele!
Die Musik ist wundervoll, die Charakter sind wirklich sehr einzigartig und die Rätsel sind genau richtig. Nicht zu schwer, nicht zu leicht. Alles ist mit so viel Liebe gemacht worden.

Pros:
- Cute characters (as long as you don't mind animated bugs)
- I liked the music & sound effects
- Lots of 'secrets' to find for achievements
Cons:
- A few annoying puzzles
- Some areas are a bit too maze like (though thankfully you have a map by then)
- There are areas that I think would be too annoying without using a walkthrough
Verdict: 7/10

Now I must admit the one thing in this game I absolutely love are all the 'hand-made' sound effects. They're so darn adorable!! Made this game really come to life, paired along with the simple art style. I found myself constantly re-clicking on some things that made a hilarious sound.
The story is wonderful, told well through the game's actions. There's no understandable words in it (just cute mutterings), but everything is explained as you go via visual stories. I got right into it, thoroughly enjoyed it. You can tell this game was made with a lot of love.
Definitely a game for the young and old. If you enjoy the simpler types of games, I recommend giving this one a go. My 4 year old girl found this game amusing, and although she doesn't quite understand the purpose, she sure had fun clicking on everything to see what would happen. Worth the dollars to hear the kids laugh and giggle too!

Do not bother playing this game for puzzle and hate it because it's too simple. The hate for clicking on every item on the screen to figure out something, no it's not required to click on everything the cursor icon changes on a clickable and there aren't many items on the screen to hover across.
I feel bad for leaving it in the wish list for too long. The game is for everyone...a story for everyone.

One of the ladies in the day care let us play from time to time so when i remembered it's existence and found out that it was on steam i had to buy it immediatly.
The amount of nostalgia i felt when playing was incredible and even though im pretty bad at point and click-puzzle games i totally enjoyed every second of it without getting frustrated.
The game, music, story.. it all feels perfect.
Honest 11/10

Happily, my saves still exist. :)
Family-friendly, whimsical puzzle game.
One of my favorite Amanita games, though they are all quite good, if you like silliness, puzzle-solving, and an amusing soundtrack.
7.7 hours for my first playthrough, but i tend to be an explorer, going everywhere I can in every game I play. We'll see how long my final playtime is after going for this last achievement- Svolavac (that I am using a guide to get, because it seems to be finicky and a bit trial-and-error).
No need for me to explain the game concept and story- lots of other reviewers have covered that already.
Absolutely fun soundtrack and sound design in this game, though it could be frustrating for Deaf or some HoH players, since some of the audio cues in the game seem to be needed to solve a few puzzles. (Or at least aid in the solving of them to a great degree).
Adorable art style, quite colorful and silly.

Another wonderful game by Amanita Design, this is a casual point and click exploration puzzle game. The graphics are hand drawn and look wonderful, there is no real spoken dialogue but the game easily conveys the point of what is going on in the story. Its a cute game that I think everyone can enjoy and overall not to long.
I have attached some gameplay above, so you can get an idea if this is the game for you.

If you are attracted to the art style you are probably the type of person to enjoy the game too.
However it is not very challenging, there are some slight puzzles but nothing that would be impossible to solve by accident.
You can easily complete it without looking anything up, and 100% it in the same run if you look enough at the background.
And it only takes a few hours to play the entire game, even on you first play trough.
But I still really like it, the characters are adorable. And the world they life in endearing.

Quirky art style, funny game mechanics and sound effects, and richly varied types of puzzle designs to solve. Mixed in with a weird and fascinating story, all make this one of the most unique game experiences you'll find.
I played this with my 7-year old niece over 4-5 sessions. She loved the characters and artwork while I loved the puzzles. Many of the puzzles were easy enough for her to figure out. The more difficult ones I was happy to take over and sometimes struggle through. Some puzzles just take patience, with some trial and error - it never feels impossible or too complex. Even when the map is very big, it's fairly clear what you have to try to do next, and then you just explore! It's a very rewarding experience, with lots of surprises and laughs to be had.

You explore nature in a series of 2D mazes to solve silly puzzles and find hidden objects. The game is very casual and intended to be a relaxing experience. The art style is kid-friendly and the music/sound effects give it a humorous and chill vibe.
Overall it's bizarre but enjoyable. It's not terribly long, but it's priced reasonable and plays smoothly. There's some replay value if you want to hunt for achievements, it's a bit like digital bug collecting and some of them are well hidden.
If you need high speed action and big explosions this isn't the game for you, but then again you probably weren't looking at this anyway. For what it's trying to be, it's done well.

It is a short game at about 4.5 hours for me and at first my instinct is to say that $10 is too high, but then I realize I have spent $15 to see a 2 hr movie at the theater. So, in that sense it is cheaper entertainment.
To me it felt like I was playing a pop-up book. It is very kid friendly if you play it together. There is no real explanation so you drop in and start figuring it out yourself. I started by clicking on literally everything. Then I learned some things need to be clicked repeatedly. Some of the puzzles may be too difficult for a young child on their own (like younger than 10). Teens should be okay. Your plant world is being attacked by evil creepy crawlies and you have to work your way to safety. There are lots of cutesy characters and animations.
There are some parts that you have to be able to observe patterns of events but things don't necessarily repeat in an expected fashion of absolute pattern repetition. It's kind of a mixed bag. What I mean is, say in a game you have 4 doors. You go into door 1, and it takes you to a sunset. You go into door 2, and it takes you to a forest. When you go back to door 1, it may not take you back to the sunset. The pattern of where you go isn't necessarily absolute on which door you enter. There was one part like that (not with doors). That's why I think little kids might have trouble figuring out the mechanics at the more difficult parts. It does require a little bit of creativity to click and explore and ponder how, or if, you can use various objects and characters to your advantage.
I liked it and found it very relaxing to play after work.
I'm not sure I completely understood the story and what happened, but I know I won! I recommend it if you like casual semi-puzzle games. I say semi-puzzle because a portion of the gameplay is discovery by clicking to see what happens.

A bug's life
Botanicula tells a rather familiar home-no-safe-so-migrate-to-find-new-home -story from the point of view of five bugs. These bugs, as most of creatures in this point-and-click adventure, are charmingly cute and come straight from the artists' imagination. No dialog or written text is required, as you'd expect from the developers at Amanita Designs. They are masters of storytelling, using only gibberish mumbling and occasional symbols to replace the dialogue. This, the visual artwork and the soundtrack really create an atmosphere, making the world of Botanicula feel alive and real.
I really wanted to give the game a thumbs-up but it's only 3-4 hours long, depending on the player's puzzle-solving skills. This isn't a problem itself but the game just is not... fun. I'm sure people that have children to play the game with might disagree with me. That being said, I probably do not fit the game's target audience so take this review lightly.

It got the distinctive charm of Amanita Design, gameplay wise it's OK, loved the game but it's not as ground breaking as the previous game from them, Machinarium, which was a little gem and i consider it one of the best indie games ever made at release date.
I played Botanicula on release date, i was a bit let down by it because i was over-hyped, with time i came to realize that the game still looks good and it's nice enough to be played in 2020.

What a shame that I had this game for more than 5 years in my library and played it as late as today.
Big thumbs up for the developers.

This game took me 6 hours (yes I was slow!), so buy in a sale and indulge your inner child. Gorgeous graphics, hilarious sound effects and oozing with charm. So dive into this hidden world which has been designed with love. Highly recommend for all ages. 8/10.
