ÜBERSICHT
Bohemian Killing ist ein narratives Gerichtsdrama, welches Spielern eine Vielzahl von Möglichkleiten bietet, den dramatischen Fall zu lösen., dank der Verschmelzung des Gameplays mit der erzählerisch vorgetragenen Story. Es ist auch das erste Spiel seiner Art, das von einem echten Anwalt entwickelt wurde!

STORYLINE
Willkommen im Paris des 19. Jahrhunderts. In der Zeit nach der großen Revolution haben alle Bürger die große Chance auf einen Neuanfang, unabhängig ihrer Herkunft und sozialen Schicht. Alfred Ethon, ein junger Erfinder mit Zigeunerwurzeln, profitiert von dieser Zeit des Aufbruchs dank harter Arbeit und innovativer Ideen, die ihrer Zeit oft voraus sind. Als eine junge Frau – die Magd eines verarmten Lords aus dem alten Regime - brutal ermordet wird, deutet vieles auf Alfred als Täter hin. Ist er verantwortlich für diese grausame Tat? Die Beweise scheinen dafür zu sprechen… aber das kannst Du ändern.

Vor Gericht kannst du dich ausschließlich auf deinen Intellekt und deine Kreativität verlassen – aber wie setzt du diese Gaben ein?

GAMEPLAY
Das Gameplay in Bohemian Killing ist eine Kombination aus Gerichtsdrama und Walking Simulator. Du erlebst das Spiel aus der Ich-Perspektive, in Form eines interaktiven Abenteuers.

Die Geschichte spielt in zwei unterschiedlichen Zeitsträngen. In der Gegenwart befindest dich als Tatverdächtiger vor Gericht. Du machst dich mit den Beweisen und Zeugenaussagen vertraut und stellst dich den Fragen des Richters. Diese Fragen lösen in dir Rückblenden in die Vergangenheit aus, die deine aussage wiederspiegeln. In diesen Rückblenden findest du dich in einem Pariser Distrikt wieder, in dem deine Handlungen, Interaktionen und Entscheidungen Alfreds Aussage beeinflussen – und somit auch das finale Urteil.
Um deine Aussage zu unterstützen, hast du Zugriff auf alle Beweise die für den Fall zusammengetragen wurden – Expertenmeinungen, Berichte und Zeugenaussagen. Jedes dieser Elemente kann (muss aber nicht!) auf verschiedene Art wiederlegt werden.
Im Beweise-Menü kannst du dich mit den Zeugenaussagen, forensischen Expertisen und Beweismitteln auseinandersetzen. Diese sind in Gruppen unterteilt, um sie leichter auffundbar zu machen.

Beispiel:
Ein Nachbar sagt aus, dass er dich gegen 22:00 Uhr im Hauseingang gesehen hat, wobei deine Kleidung angeblich mit Blut beschmiert war. Bezichtige ihn der Lüge und beweise, dass er allen Grund zum lügen hat! Oder vielleicht kannst du das Gericht überzeugen, dass du nur Minuten zuvor in eine Kneipenschlägerei verwickelt warst, und das Blut dein eigenes ist? Vielleicht hast du dich auch nur beim Rasieren geschnitten? Aber was, wenn das Gericht es seltsam findet, dass du dich so spät am Abend rasierst? Wie redest du dich heraus?
Es gibt eine Vielzahl von Möglichkeiten, die zu verschiedenen Auflösungen – darunter eine geheime Lösung – führen, wobei das Spiel keinen Lösungsweg als „schlecht“ definiert. Jedes Durchspielen verläuft anders als zuvor.

SPRECHER
Der Hauptdarsteller des Spiels wird von einem Weltklasse-Schauspieler gesprochen: Stephane Cornicard!
Stephane Cornicard hat markannte Rollen in internationalen Blockbustern gespielt, darunter dem Bond-Film “Spectre,” sowie Steven Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan”. Seine Karriere als Sprecher ist ebenso bemerkenswert und beinhaltet Auftritte in Syphon Filter, Primal, Metal Gear Solid, sowie die Dragon-Age- und Total-War-Serien. Er ist aktuell Schauspiellehrer am Actor’s Centre in London.

Das Spiel hat einen sehr interessanten Ansatz: man steht unter Mordanklage vor Gericht und ist eindeutig schuldig. Die belastbaren Indizien sind allerdings nicht eindeutig.

Während der Befragung durch den Richter über den Tathergang bastelt man sich in einer Rückblende sein Alibi zurecht, so dass es mit den Beweisen zwar in Einklang ist, aber das Gericht auf eine falsche Fährte lockt. So kann man z.B. mit eigenen Beweisen, die man in den Rückblenden findet, ein Mordmotiv für andere Verdächtigen hervorheben, die man dadurch zum Sündenbock macht... oder einen Freispruch wegen angeblicher Notwehr erwirken... oder zumindest das Urteil von Todesstrafe auf lebenslängliche Haft oder 10 Jahre Haft verringern.

Super clunky. Awful optimization. The aiming reticle refuses to stay at my actual mouse position. Reloading somehow destroys previously obtained evidence (which cannot be reobtained). Time plays important role yet there's no function to just stand still and pass time like thousands of other games.

Despite advertising itself as having wide range of possibilities, there are actually very narrow path of actions you can take with little freedom. There's only one route that one's testimony can take in order to be successful, which involves very little amount of deception - so the game wastes lot of potential its setting offers. Something is very problematic when I can confidently say $0.60 CDN The Deed makes more variety and sense than this $13.99 CDN jank.

Bohemian Killing is a walking simulator.
The main character committed a crime and now he must defend himself in the court.
Bohemian Killing shifts between the place where the crime took place and the area around, here you control the protagonist and you can walk around and interact with people and items, and the courtroom.
Some special things happen at special times, you can not skip time, like going to sleep for 1 hour. You have to do stuff eg. shave - 5 minutes , shower - 15 minutes and so on. It is an absolutely annoying!
One playthrough does not takes long but it becomes boring after the 2nd playthrough. Besides of beeing boring and the annoying time skip mechanic be prepared for too many loading screens, bugs where you could get stuck and bad voice acting.
The graphics are okay and the music is fine.
The basic idea of Bohemian Killing is good but its execution is bad. I had not really fun with it. 12,99 € is too much for it. Not recommended!

A good game with an interesting concept and beautiful music. Once you unlock most evidence though, the replay value diminishes.

A walking simulator but with a court theme. The main character committed a crime and now he must defend himself by adding some spices to the real story in order to gain the judge's trust. You can frame other people or just confess your crime. This game has nine endings and each one is really good and interesting.

Every evidence you collect is important, it either shows that you are lying or not. This game ending depends heavily on your choices.

The main character, Alfred Ethan gave good emotions while he described every move he did before the crime happened. The voice acting was amazing and the French accent was really good. Music, conversations, graphics, they were all so good.

For me, this game is a hidden gem, and I don't understand why people gave it a mixed review. Could be because it needed lots of reading and listening to the testimony, but I do recommend this game.

Bohemian Killing is an adventure game by The Moonwalls developers where, as Alfred Ethon, a Parisian of the late 19th century, you are asked to produce a testimony about a killing you have presumably committed. The videogame shifts between the testimony itself, where you control the protagonist and interact with people and items from the murder's evening, and the courtroom, where the judge, the prosecutor and your attorney consider any new evidence brought to the case.

The gameplay can be best described as an hybrid between an adventure game and a walking simulator: you walk around the (small) map and interact with people and items in order to arrange a testimony in your favor. Time is also an important factor in Bohemian Killing: you have a watch to keep tab on it and means to advance it. This is due to the fact that the prosecution know that certain thing happened at a precise hour, so you must reconstruct your movements accordingly.

The main attraction of the game is discovering the multiple ways you can build up your own testimony, and see what verdict you can get for yourself. While getting a death sentence is remarkably easy, you can also try to get declare innocent or frame someone else. Replaying the game is a vital part of Bohemian Killing, and you are given the option to skip through dialogue you may already heard previously and ask your attorney to advise you during your testimony and give you hints about what to do.

Granted, Bohemian Killing isn't exactly such a big, multilayered adventure game, but, for its price tag, it does enough with its unique premise and can hook you up for several hours, especially if you are bent on unlocking all nine endings

Great concept, terrible execution.

This game is not a courtroom game or deduction of evidence/witness testimonies. It is rather a walking simulator where you try to align your actions to the evidence and timeline of the prosecution. The way to advance time is the most infuriatingly annoying mechanic I have seen in a very long time. Say for example it is 9 and you want to pass time to 10 so that you can testify on something that happened at 10, instead of being able to skip time by saying 'I read a book for an hour' or something you need to run around silly and shave(5min), shower(15min), cook(10min) etc. So you are constantly just running around looking for objects to waste time. this mechanic is terrible.

You are also expected to play through the game multiple times. My first playthrough took me roughly 2 hours but the consecutive playthroughs will be much shorter (anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on your actions) since 95% of the content is reused/skipped on multiple playthroughs. The dialogue and outcomes don't wary nearly enough even when testifying complete opposite stuff. In 1 testimony I simply stated I went to my apartment and went straight to bed and the prosecution tells the exact same lines about how I told lie after lie and how no one should believe my sob story of being a poor hated person. Something that never happened. I also managed to get a non-guilty verdict with a testimony that was utterly contradicting or completely ignored evidence/witnesses.

There also don't seem to be many ways to alter your testimony. The locations available are very small with few possible interactions. Overall I really like the concept but the execution misses the mark entirely.
