The era of the VR weightless, wiggle-sword combat is over. Blade & Sorcery is a medieval fantasy sandbox like no other, focusing on melee, ranged and magic combat that fully utilizes a unique and realistic physics driven interaction and combat system.

Built exclusively for VR, collisions are dictated by fine hitboxes, objects have weight and follow the laws of physics, creatures have full body physics and presence, and blades can be used to penetrate soft materials or deflect magic.

Oh ja VR ist cool, ich liebe abgetrennte Köpfe.
Mods sind auch geile dabei, ich will aber mehr.
Wenn man Angst hat, dass man komplett gestört sein könnte, kann dir das Spiel genau das zeigen.

Ein wundervolles VR-Spiel... Ansich macht es schon sehr viel Spaß, aber es gibt auch einige Mods, die endlos viele neue Waffen etc hinzufügen. Wunderbar

Dieses Spiel ist ein must have für jeden Gamer mit ein VR Headset. Dieses Spiel wird niemals langweilig und besonders wenn man weiß wie man es modded. Das einzige was noch fehlt ist ein Multiplayer und Quests, um noch etwas mehr Leben in das Spiel zu bringen.

steps to playing this game:

step 1. buy and download
step 2. play for about an hour
step 3. play for a couple of hours later
step 4. find out theres mods
step 5. learn to download mods
step 6. download way too many mods
step 7. realise you physically cannot play at 2 fps
step 8. delete half the mods
step 9. play for like 5 hours a day and keep looking at mod page religiously until a new / cool mod comes out

I feel like an absolutely psychopath when I play this game, I spend all my time in game grabbing people and seeing how brutal I can make their deaths, slamming their heads repeatedly into walls, sliding my sword slowly into their temple while looking them dead in the eyes or decapitating my enemies, impaling their heads onto my sword and using it against other enemies. Any time i'm not in the game i'm spending my free time looking for mods to make it more brutal.

You can grab someones head, stab them repeatedly while staring your next opponent straight in the eyes. Then drop the corpse, walk right up to them and grab their wrist as they swing at you, forcing them to chop their own head off. Fun in the most comical of senses, there's absolutely 0% realism to this game and it's just fun to scream at people as you chop them to bits then inevitably smack your hand really hard into the table next to you.

Incredible when it works. Lacks content at the moment but there truly is nothing like force choking a man and throwing him into his allies, or slow-mo ducking an attack and landing a perfect counter.

Best game in the world, infinity out of 10. All of the features are great, fun for sandbox, roleplay, customizability, and everything you could ask for in a game. And if you don't like the game as is (and, if this is the case, shame on you, honestly), it is highly moddable, so you can turn it into an entirely new game! one of my favorite mods is The Outer Rim, a highly customizable Star Wars mod allowing you to be anything from the Star Wars universe you want, and a must-have mod for people who like playing with friends is the Local Multiplayer mod, which, despite the name, can be used to play with friends both locally and online. For only $20, this game is as cheap as they come, especially for a game easily worth $30-$60.

If you want VR melee combat, get this game. It is BY FAR the best thanks to perfect hitboxes on enemies and excellent weapon handling. Combine that with one of the biggest modding scenes for a VR game and you can have complete conversions for Star Wars, Batman and more.
Right now it's a sandbox type game where you can choose various waves to spawn (Bandits, Gladiators, Mages, Archers, Knights, and various numbers and assortments of them i.e 1v1, 1v3, 1v5, 3v3v3, etc etc). Soon there will be an update to the game that will add semi-procedural 'dungeons' with various areas for you to progress through and gather loot so everyone is quite excited for that, especially since there seems to be a hint of stealth capability as well as patrolling enemies.

Really fun game, that supports (which is one of the best features in the game) Mods. Well, its still challenging for your pc, but since U9 came you can really feel a difference. Definitely one of the must own vr games.

This game is a VR must-have. I have spent many hours violently fighting and murdering my fellow man and women. It natively has a good amount of waves to fight off, a nice selection of high detail weapons and a nice few locations to fight at. It's also an excellent party game for people to take turns and laugh, just bring disposable face-covers.

I play on a Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop, my CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600, my GPU a 1070 Ti. I can handle all the Endless/Horde modes, but around 10-15 enemies it starts to have trouble. (Not that you want that many, really!) I used to play on a CV1 before this and it was fine too, just make sure you don't tangle yourself in your cable, it's very easy to get turned around in this game. Make sure you have a little movement/extending space.

There are many mods to install, most prominently the Outer Rim, which fully converts it to a Star Wars game. Medieval Mega Pack adds some 250 weapons to it in a bunch of sets. Look on Nexus for more stuff!

im a big fan of directional combat in medieval games, i will play even the most glitchy and euro-jank ones that i find for hundreds of hours, if a game has directional combat i will give it a go even if its anime styled, its my favorite thing in pc games.

i have been following the development of VR headsets since CCP games got in to it and developed for oculus(eve valkyre rip), its been awhile but i never had the urge to try it out, always seen it as a fad and tbh i dont think VR ever made that leap to become mainstream, it was too expensive and murky to invest a lot of money in, that was before quest 2 tho, now its cheap as hell but i digress,

after i have seen a youtube video of blade and sorcery(thank you for the content baron), i decided that its time to grab a VR headset, i do not remember when was the last time i spent this much effort and money just to play 1 game spesifically, there are many other good games in the market but blade and sorcery is what got me in to vr,

the videos i watched on my flatscreen tv does not give it justice, i knew it was gonna be good but i never understood how amazing its gonna be, yeah the AI could use some work and there is some jank involved but i feel like i am now old enough to look past the shortcomings of games, there is room for improvement but for me personally it is everything i wanted the good old directional combat to become, the physics are amazing, fighting 5 npcs all at once is the best shit ever, there is this really good mod on nexus that adds a lot of medieval weapons, i really cant get enough of this game.

your mileage may vary but if you are a medieval era junkie like i am, this game offers some good stuff, if you are from mount and blade crowd i highly recommend blade and sorcery, this is all i can ask for from a game and looking at the roadmap i see how its gonna get better and better in time, its insane that 1 developer made this game, amazing work.

By far the greatest of its kind. No other vr game can compare when it comes to melee combat, and although the base game is severely lacking in its own content a very live and breathing modding community easily makes up for it. A must own for any needlessly violent vr gamers. 8/10

Blade And Sorcery. This game is beautiful. At first glance (ESPECIALLY your first vanilla playthrough once the new-game euphoria wears off) this game may seem unfinished and boring. Your only options are a short sword, long sword, mace, hammer, push dagger, spear, sticc, dagger, lil axe, and big axe. How boring! But keep playing, just trust me. It is not boring at first glance, the flow you enter once you start fighting, especially if you play Wireless, will make you forget how few weapons there are. The way the AI responds to your movement is a bit awkward, but like the weapons, you will forget very quickly. After a few massacres, it just feels like you're too fast and skilled for them to react. I wish they aimed their attacks mid-swing so that you don't lean, and yet they continue to wind up a massive attack even though you're not standing there anymore. There is also a climbing system, and all of this combined makes you feel very, very godlike in the flow.

Very few games are able to achieve this, especially VR games. You know these games very well, Fallout New Vegas, Gmod, Skyrim, and now, Blade And Sorcery, are blank Canvases that let the player and modder do anything they can imagine. You can enjoy the game as is for hours of fun, or you can download mod after mod after mod and become anything you can imagine. All the weapons from your favorite games and franchises are at your fingertips. Anything that the Nexus community can achieve, you can achieve. Its difficult to review in a way that a new player would understand, the experience of playing this game transcends words.

All in all, Blade and Sorcery is a revolutionary game that I think will go on to become the golden standard for VR fighting games. It is violent and gory without excessive guts and dismemberment, the combat feels smooth and natural without the realism mechanics getting in the way and making it feel clunky. The games limitations on Magic and health are reasonable and keep you in check without making you feel like you're not a high enough level or whatever, which will change with the campaign. I am so excited to see where this game is heading and I love the rush of bloodlust I feel when playing this. 10/10, please give it a shot. PLEASE.

The best VR sword fighting game in my opinion. Realistic physics, very nice visuals/graphics, modding support, and a ton more. This game is awesome, just make sure you have the room space to play it, or else you will probably break something, lol

In my 6 hours of playtime, I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of this game, so yeah. It's not one of those games where you play it for 2 hours and then there's nothing else to do with the game, so you stop playing it

With mods and updates plentiful, there is always something new to try with this game. It's very hard to get bored, buy it now!! You will not be disappointed

Base game is alright, you got multiple maps, weapons, and spells to choose from. This game goes for a realistic style which I think it does very well. Where this game really shines, is mods. Their are so many mods to choose from ranging to lightsabers to quicksilver slow motion. I'd recommend this game for anyone trying to feel like a literal badass.

1 word is all that is needed, AMAZING! Buttttttttt...... I'm going to write a paragraph anyways for people who want in depth reviews.

Definitely recommend this game to any new VR people wanting to achieve their fantasies of shooting fire and lighting out of their hands and having a 1v1 sword fight with a knight. The base game has so much content, I truthfully don't know if I have used or seen every piece of it. If you are a sick twisted person like me, you will love taking a sword and slicing peoples limbs off and repeatedly stabbing people in this game. (great game to relieve pent up stress and anger) All though, this game is 1,000 times better when you add mods to it from Nexusmods.com. You can find anything from star wars light sabers to AOT gear, and even the most obscure thing you could think of like a mod to add Steven universes shield. Unfortunately, at the time that I write this review there is no multiplayer but I am 100% positive they are trying to implement this into the game.

In conclusion, I think this game has so much you can do with it and is super fun. I 1,000% recommend you buy this right now! Stop reading this review and BUY NOW! PLZ STOP LOOKING GO NOW BUY!

This is it. This is the video game I dreamed about age 10-19. Now I am 32 and it is here and I can't get enough!

The combat isn't perfect yet, but it is better than pretty much all the other melee fighting VR games. I knew magic was in the game but I was not expecting it to be so much fun too! You can paint your weapon with the spell in your other hand or use it to blast or throw your enemies in some truly awe inspiring fashion.

I only have punched my TV once so far, but when I did my Xbox Kinect sensor bar fell off the top and broke. As I looked at it on the floor I couldn't help but laugh and think about how badly I had wanted the Kinect to be some half as awesome as this is.

Undoubtedly the best Squat Climbing mechanics in any VR game on the market. If you're looking to climb up a wooden beam tower while damaging your spine, I recommend big time, especially because you can jump off and take a guy's head off with a claymore. BIG game except actually small game because it's pretty much just fighting bots right now.

I have 334 hours in this game and I've had it since it came out and it's my number 1 vr game, the physics are magnificent and the combat is really fun,I know it's had its up's and downs with performance in the last few updates but this recent update fixed all of that for the most part, the reason why I stayed is because the mods really add alot of replayability and modders have huge imaginations, my favorite thing to do is have some mods installed, put on my feet trackers, go slow mo and kick dudes around like neo. I highly recommend this game if u want a fun physics sandbox game that's also a bit of a exercise too especially if u have feet trackers like I do..........plus this game is still in early access so its only gonna get better from here

So... the game is fun, I don't know how it wouldn't be, but my head doesn't like the aches it gets. The issue with this game are the MASSIVE performance issues. Even with a 3070 this game tanks a lot of time when the settings are put to really low, I have no shadows on and when I get into a fight it struggles with 45fps which after time can give really bad headaches while in vr. The older version of this game ran completely fine and I'm pretty sure it's because of the armor. If everything got added to the older version of the game besides the armor and new models I feel as if it would run a lot better and not burn your eyes.

In summary, game runs bad on high end pc and would be good if they fixed performance.

Holy fucking shit. I bought this game 2x. One of each of my accounts. This game is fucking amazing. It has a ton of replay value just for $20 alone. The modding capabilities of this game is incredible. The community is awesome. I would recommend this game to any person who has VR. It's not even done yet and it's my favorite game of all time. 10/10. This is a must buy for any VR user.

Blade & Sorcery U7 is one of the best VR experiences out there. Full freedom, responsive physics, gameplay restrictions exist such as weapon weight but they feel more like a suggestion than an actual restriction. You can actually choose between cutting, hewing and slashing depending on how you swing your sword and they all have their differences.

As for the new update, U8? it's whatever. still an alright game i guess.

Great game, great feel. The swordplay is tight and responsive, with solid physics. It's more a bundle of mechanics at the moment, with nothing in the way of story or progression, but it'll easily last hours of just mercilessly beating the light out of the eyes of your enemies. And for a bundle of mechanics, it's amazing. Anything you think you should be able to do, you can probably do it. Block, Parry, punch a fireball into a dudes face, force choke them like Darth Vader, tear them apart with magic, tear them apart with an ax, catch their weapon with an ax, catch their face with an ax, it's got everything. Highly recommended, and a must have for any VR headset

Its the best physics based VR game on the market. If you have a capable VR system and aren't playing this game, you are missing out. From the mod community to the developer communication, this game is the frontier of future VR mechanics hands down. Miles ahead and will forever be remembered as one of the godfathers of VR fighting.

Can not recommend enough. Just get it and become the sick murderous psycho your virtual reality will allow.

This game taught me some things.
Reaction time. Awareness. Watching for attack patterns.

But most of all, it taught me that humans are violent. It taught me that even my sweet cousin, who loves even the bees in her flower garden, will yell bloody murder as she beheads the 5th poor guardsman who dared stand in her way. It taught me that I, too, am not immune to the call for bloodshed. That I, too, when given the opportunity and freedom, will pick up the biggest axe I can find and go to town on some poor assholes in an arena. Humans are violent and angry.

This game is fucking awesome and I am a warrior of death
10/10, would scare myself with the concept of morals and mortality again

One of the best Vr Games. Very realistic movements and your whole body interacts with the environment. So no putting your hands through walls! However the game has no real campaign, but it is made up for with the amount of amazing mods which can be installed. If you have a decent imagination and the occasional psychotic tendency, then this game is perfect for you !!!!!

This is one of the top tier games of VR, if you recently got VR, this game is a must have. At first it seemed very basic, but as I played more n more, I figured more n more stuff out. I learned that you can do so much in the game that it doesn't tell you. It also has a community backing of mods and fun little things to add to the game which is SUPER EASY. Customize your fighter as well to how you want him/her to look. 10/10 game.
I never AFK on my headset for longer than 10 minutes, so when it says I played for 50 hours of this only single player game. It's worth it.

Easily my favorite VR game ever. If you just want to hop into VR and have a good time, not having to worry about a story or an objective, this game is for you. Plus, the game has an incredibly active modding community. Harry Potter wands, Avatar element bending, and every lightsaber and force power you can dream of.

A must have if you own a VR headset.

Blade and sorcery reveals the sociopath in all of us, when it comes to this game i seriously love it. However, at the moment the game is in desperate need of optimization, i'm using an rtx 2060, an intel core i7-10700k, and 64gb of ram. Even with all of this the game lags to 5 fps on default settings after a bit of fighting and I actually have to turn the max items, and max dead bodies down.
If the devs make the game playable again I'll be willing to switch my review to recommended.

I went into this expecting more than I got, and maybe that was why I was so underwhelmed. The game, despite being well into development, still feels very bare bones and lacking any real content. One could argue that the complexity of the combat or the spectacle of VR makes up for it, but I just can't in good conscience recommend a game that feels like a polished tech demo. I am sure it will eventually become something great, but out of the box, it is so empty that I already feel like I've gotten all the content I can out of it with less than 2 hours of play.

That being said, if you are into it for the mods or just want a sandbox with which to release your unbridled rage and hatred for 2020, by all means go for it. You won't be disappointed if you don't expect more than that.

100% Thumbs up b before the U8 update. - I'm enjoying U8 but not nearly as much as U7 due to performance issues. I have a high end machine/Valve index, I'm getting terrible drops in frames to the point of blacking out and going to a loading screen. Yes, deleting all my mods mods made it slightly better but nothing close to how it was before. Will change my review once this gets optimized.

One of the better fantasy and sword based video games for a virtual reality headset, Blade & Sorcery is a custom waved based fighter which really makes you feel like a magic sword wielding badass. With a variety of one and two handed weapons across a number of different arenas no two matches will play out the same way. This game provides for some great gameplay and a fun time although you better bring a large play space unless you're ready to put a hole through the wall! With mods as well being brought into the mix you'll be sure to have a great time. As well as that, the game allows for you to create your own character just to add that extra level of depth and customisation to the mix.

However, while this game does have it's benefits it does have some pit falls as well. The combat mechanics can be janky and could use some work. More often than not I find myself swinging and simply find my sword bouncing right off my enemies practically. With some AI work and some collision reconfigurations this game could really take VR to the next level!

im REALLY disappointed about the newest update...
i truly loved playing blade and sorcery and its the game that made me buy my first VR system 3 years ago.
i truly dont want to be seem rude or insulting to the developers of this game. i simply want to share what ive personally experienced and believe.

before the most recent update i had personally rated Blade and Sorcery at a 8.8/10 with some minor bugs and lack of the newest sword not being created yet (it feels and looks amazing!). but with the newest update i would unfortunately only rate it at a 5.5.0/10 with major bugs, performance issues, poor graphics changes and poor control changes.

System specs only minor change is an addition SSD.
with a wired HTC vive head set, vive controllers, 2x base station, all in very good condition. (6ft X 6 ft) carpeted play area.

lets start with the pros of the new update.
- the new 1/2 hand sword is simply amazing! and is my favorite non modded weapon!
- new map!
- more magic!
- plus a few other minor changes and fixes.
- dismemberment feels much smoother and more effective!

now the negatives...
- the new NPC art style is VERY hit or miss for me..
i like parts of it with the new armor system being a major + for me! i do wish the right hand with the leather armor wrap on the player actually did something *or worked?*. i would love if you could actually block something just an armored wrist! it would be an awesome feature for hand to hand combat!
but i dont like the new skin/art style for the new NPC skins sadly... they look very fake and plastic like to me now.

- jeez the lag and FPS drops dang near make this game unplayable now! it constantly feel like im only getting 40FPS!
the FPS is actually fine but now its the frame buffer time running at around 8,000ms-34,000ms (i do have a very high end system with an i9-9900kf @5ghz - 1080ti - Nvme SSD - etc).

- the new magic controls are unfortunately terrible... you have to flex your wrist an extremely far back on the HTC vive and its just so hard to aim the fire spell and the other 2 spells are also moderately difficult. you need to have the ability to hover/magic control the fire ball like you can weapons! why would you make a new system for that???? everyone who has been playing the game are quite familiar with the weapon magic controls and i see no reason the fire balls should be any different.
the charge times are a bit to long for the spells... or at least add an option to increase the speed at which the spells charge up.

- melee combat has changed a bit with it being more difficult to penetrate targets with bladed weapons.
in addition you dont penetrate as deep into targets which feels more unnatural and clunky to me.

- character customization is hot garbage now with you having insanely limited options for hair, clothing, color, customization now. you previously had a fairly decent selection and could make your character somewhat interesting or unique.

- the books are VERY hard to see now looking blurry at any graphics setting and are much darker.

Best VR game to date. We pushed the devs for the update so stop complaining. If you want no lag delete game and stem folder then reinstall. It is a glitch with current characters stuck in update 7 just create a new character as well!

Im leaving this review not because the game is bad, but because of something the new update brought me, now the u8 update makes my pc want to kill itself, it runs like garbage, and ive had my Entire pc crash, in fact on u7 it ran alright, i just want to know if the new update was rushed and not optimized well, or what

Played since it got released on steam. By far easily the most satisfying fighting game on the market.

You'll most likely require a pretty good PC to play this smoothly but besides that 100% recommend.

If you're between this and Tales of Glory... Get this. I originally got Tales of Glory and kind of enjoyed it but it was so incredibly buggy and more expensive for less than an impressive experience.

Blade and Sorcery is a breath of fresh air. It's fun, polished, and enjoyable. There are of course some bugs, but not much in my hour of gameplay so far. It really feels like a realistic medieval fighting sim (if you don't use magic obviously)

Thanks to mod support, this game is currently the best platform for experiencing whatever you want in VR using Vortex from Nexus.

I have played over 500 hours on this since November when I first took the leap to VR and have enjoyed every second of my experiences with this game. You can do almost anything you'd expect with the edition of mods and unlike most games, B&S is very easy to mod.

Want to be the Master Chief from Halo? Download Bone Holsters, Mjolnir Master Chief's Armour, Energy Sword & Operation Red Flag.

Want to become a Sith Lord and force choke someone to take out your anger? Download Outer Rim, Advanced Telekinesis Plus Reborn, Dark Chains & many other optional mods. (This was what made me get this game btw XD)

Want to beat people up as they sound like various NPCs from your favourite games? Download Custom NPC voices framework and then hear dialogue from Skyrim, Mordhau, Half Life, ect.

Want guns in a sword fighting game? Grab one of the many gun mods.

You can do almost everything!

Some would say Boneworks is the best and whilst it's clearly the best in regards to Artificial Intelligence, graphics & Physics, the modding scene is nothing in comparison to B&S. They're both playgrounds that have different toys to play with. I suggest getting this first to see if VR is for you. It was my first VR game and set up the rest to come.

Blade and Sorcery is hands down a must-have for VR if you're not a gun nut. Right now the game has a drought of actual content and is instead essentially a wave slasher, however, it's /highly/ moddable to a disgusting degree, and has endless possibilities. Combine this with the fact that Update 8, coming near the end of May, will be revamping EVERYTHING with 100% original assets, a new spell, more weapons, armor, and more, it's something you'll want to check out. Give it a looksy.

Best freaking VR game there is! (You'll sweat your arss off.. so take off your clothes before playing)

Just wanna point out a few things though.

Enemies have some strange magnetic dodging/blocking. (It makes it more challenging.. but god dang is it annoying)

Dismembering enemies is fun as hell.. but it ruins it that enemies dies instantly when they lose a limb.. I know, making an enemy jump around on one leg is a challenge, but just make them suffer a little on the ground, yea? They will also instantly die if they lose an arm. (The graphics also needs a little work as it seems a little glitchy)

The sounds are damn awesome, but the enemies sounds odd as hell.. If a woman falls down a hole she makes the creepiest and weirdest damn scream ever.. the volume of their scream doesn't help either. (very low for someone about to die) And the death sounds gets very... very.. very repetitive after a while.

Here's a cool detail..

Enemies stare at your weapons just as you're about to impale them.. It's freaking satisfying! :)

There's nothing as relaxing as stabbing, slashing and clobbering people in VR.
Good without mods but mods push it to a 10/10

This is an amazing game with strong promise for future updates. If you're looking for an argument for why VR is going to be integral in the future of gaming, this is it. The responsiveness is on time, the combat is excellent, and the maps (even though there aren't many available) are beautiful and engaging with strong character. You may get about 5 or 6 hours out of the base game, but the game really opens up with modding. The modding community has added so much customization and several great fixes for more realistic and difficult fights. Plus, can you name any other game where you can beat Yoda to death with a katana? Didn't think so.
