+ gute Story
+ unterhaltsame Action Ballerei
- komische Tastenbelegung
- nette Idee, aber miserable Anwendbarkeit der Audiobefehlfunktion
- Teammitglieder stehen manchmal im Weg
- Quick Time Events

I really did not see the story twist coming. Gfx, VA & Audio are all good.
Chase/turret sections could have been better (camera sways hard) but I'm nitpicking.
Do play with a controller.
*Since it's an old game I had to launch the game from its folder & then connect the controller (DS4) when the game started to get it map properly.
Recommended!

+Fun dialogues between characters
+Fun, likeable characters (IMO moreso than ME2)
+advanced AI of enemies even compared to modern games (they flank etc.)
+Robots can lose limbs and head, each injury has a strategic effect
+ Weapon feel is good
+Decent graphics
+ Trust system is really nice, ME2 could use something like that
+Story more than ok
- Runs on W10 but have some config problems: does not recognize my xbox one controller, should be fine with 360. Playing K+M, it's ok;
Highly recommend this game.
Oh it also has a flamboyant french speaking robot as one of the characters and he's glorious.

The game is a solid third person shooter that has an emphasis on dismembering enemy robots as a way to slow them down or incapacitate them. The gameplay still holds up well today except for the very non-frequent quick time events and the ever wonky and out of place voice command system that was common during the time period of the Kinect. Luckily the voice commands are able to be disabled via the start up menu and replaced by toggling a button on your keyboard or controller for a much smoother process. The story is serviceable at best but their are humorous moments at times that can keep you slightly invested during cutscenes.

My only complain would be that the voice recognition is not that good, but even then, it's not necessary to use it.
I don't usually give scores on my Steam reviews, but if i had to, i would give the game a 7.5/10.
Really worth it if you're interested in the game or if you like third-person shooters.

The DLL file appears safe and you don't even need a 3rd party injector
After removing the negative mouse acceleration, the game is finally enjoyable on PC with mouse and keyboard. I remember playing the demo quite a few times on my PS3, so i finally decided to purchase this game on sale a few days ago. The gameplay is serviceable, but what's really keeping me playing is the story. Being able to shoot up robots in clever ways is pretty cool, but the novelty wears of quickly.
Get this one for the great story.

Good story writing.
Excellent character writing.
Graphics are really good even today in my opinion.
Game play is like gears of war but with some JRPG elements sprinkled on top (no level system well there is one for your guns Resident Evil style), just the way the menu's are set up reminds me of games like Final Fantasy 13.
Choices actually seem to be real in this game or at least that's the way they make it sound.
Level design reminds me of Resident Evil.
Music is really good too.
Overall, I went in not expecting much but after finishing it, I can see a lot of time, care, and effort went into this game.
Expertly crafted game all around, I definitely recommend it!

It's very much like a post 90's pr early 2000 sci-fi action film. Lots of great dialogue, smooth humor and sarcasm, some memorable characters, some serious thought provoking moments. It's both dark and fun. And the boss design! That brilliant robot stuff that can only be made by Japanese for consoles..I think the magic of this game is in its playfulness. There's always a plot twist or new enemy or a interesting conversation around the corner. You can the creators of the game had a blast making up all this stuff!

I first played this in 2013, but I came back after a friend brought it up recently. Here's the quick hits:
What Worked For Me
The core gameplay really is engaging. Basic mook robots get shredded under fire, and the tougher ones can endure some punishment. Bosses especially take a hell of a lot of damage before finally giving up. I really wish the game kept track of your performance and gave a final breakdown of stats, like how many shots you fired, accuracy, total med-kits used, etc. I know I had to have fired some five digits of bullets.
The whole system with enemies reacting to being shot is pretty neat, too. Most other shooters don't let you blow off body parts because you're likely fighting humans and that'd get disturbing quick, but it ties into the above point about the whole spectacle of the game. And the minor bonuses for bothering always help too. When fighting fast enemies, blowing off their legs slows them down considerably, while big groups get decapitated (heh heh) by popping heads off and getting the robots to stop firing on you for a moment.
Shops are fairly plentiful, so it rarely felt like I was gonna run dry on my ammo. I often did on grenades, but yeah. The roulette rewards system was a weird but cute touch, too.
What I Didn't Like
Having to adjust most options outside of the game kinda sucks. I mentioned the quit -> adjust -> reload -> test loop, and thankfully I didn't have to do anything with that. I don't think the game was a bad port, just this really sticks out as an oddity/annoyance.
The camera works fine, but it refuses to adjust in some situations like at the start of manning a mounted gun or when you're trying to get up after a self-revive. You can move the camera only for it to wrest the viewpoint back to where the game wants it until whatever condition is cleared. It only happens in these rare instances, but it's annoying because you can still move the camera, just it snaps right back.
Fretting about the Trust system kind of ruined my enjoyment at first. This is a me problem, I know, but I wanted to get the best version of the ending this time, so that was a big worry for the early game. Once I realized what it was doing to me, I decided to mellow out about it, but I still found myself resetting to avoid Trust losses. There are apparently farm spots you can use to abuse Trust gains, but I didn't use any, and I think I just barely got everyone to Very High rank before the final section of the game so I don't know how much trouble it'd be for everyone else. That's why I say it's better to just roll with it and Youtube the ending variations so it doesn't drag you down like it did me. It also helps I didn't even use Trust for its primary function of getting people to follow orders!
Verdict - 5/5
Damn was this a fun game to return to. Busting robot heads didn't get old, and the moderate variety of them through the game kept even the garden-variety green mooks relevant since they'd back up different types. The constant changes in scenery helped keep things from getting stale as did the opportunity for team swapping or having the choice taken from you. Bosses are mostly fun to fight, and none of them fit the 'mook but damage sponge' archetype. And there's something weirdly satisfying about destroying these perfect, immortal machines while you're a squishy flesh and blood human. Great Lancer's probably around...maybe 20 feet tall, but Spider's bigger than a fucking mansion. And you bring that thing down. Whoo!

Without a long prelude, I'd like to recommend Binary Domain to 3rd person shooters lovers.
Game looks like The Vanquish native brother. Same publisher...
Maybe, developers were inspired by the Gears of War too.
Anyway, it doesn't feels secondary and I enjoyed it a lot. Dynamic shooter with voice-commands (which works so BAD) to your partners. Big bosses can give you a skill challenge. Also, you have reputation bar with your squad mates. I think it has a straight influence at one of the final plot twists. By the way, about story itself. Classical, robot's self-awareness in human society. But here it good-directed and told us with a high skill.
The game has minuses like I told before is bad voice interaction with your team. I gave my orders with 360 x box gamepad buttons insteed. And second issue - x box one wireless controller didn't work.
Third, gunplay. I understand what our enemies made of iron, but visual seems it is no difference between wall-shoting and robot-shooting.
But despite the cons, all these pieces together works good. And if you didn't play it yet, so play. Most likely you will not be disappointed.

not a lot of ways to play tactical but I do get the hunch that this is more like a blockbuster spectacle kind of thing going on and the game seems to not take itself too seriously.

However, the controls are poor enough to be a deal breaker. They're not designed for mouse and keyboard and nothing is exactly where I expect it to be. I'm also told that controller support is lacking for this version, so there's no easy fix. This might be a problem I could overcome with some practice, but there's a squad control component that is meant to be voice activated. It kinda almost works. But that means that it also doesn't work because 2012 voice recognition just didn't. There's a lot of ambition and promise in the game, but I can't stand fighting the controls or repeatedly shouting at my squadmates and not getting a response for one more minute.

1. Great story - worth playing for it and it;s plot twist. - But It could have been more - also they could do a second game
2. Great characters
-
1. player controls are not so good - The same button is used for running, hiding and jumping over shit. Which makes the game play really annoying.
2. camera is a bit confusing, especially when the character is running or it is surrounded.
All in all I enjoyed the game and it's worth the price if you buy it at a discount that is. Would recommend.

The game appears bland, specially because of its age, but it is, without any doubt, a fantastic game. From the characters development, the plot, the connection with real events to throw you the future, the mechanics or the amazing construction of a future-to-be Tokyo this game is just explendid.

This is a criminally underrated cover based third person shooter.
Binary Domain is certainly a product of its time and it shows. Essentially playing as some sort of amalgam of Gears of War, Mass Effect — a dash of PlatinumGames' Vanquish — set in a world not dissimilar to I, Robot. [Is that overselling it? Maybe a little bit.] But hear me out!
Premise:
You'll play as Dan Marshall, ex-special ops. Now of International Robotics Technology Association (IRTA) They have a task force colloquially known as “Rust Crews”. Essentially a group of ragtag ex-something-or-other mercenary types on orders from the UN Security Council to investigate the Amada Corporation under suspicion of violating clause 21 of the “New Geneva Convention” — a clause that is set to disallow research into robots that could pass as human referred to as “Hollow Children”. The reason for this suspicion is due to an attack on a rival robotics company called “Bergen” by one of these robots, seemingly unaware that they were in fact... a robot.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2327121459
That's the introduction of the game, we're way past Isaac Asimov's Foundation here. Something I rather enjoy about the game is that they don't dawdle pontificating on philosophy regarding what “life” is. Well, not for very long, in any case. The game instead plays out more like a spy thriller. Focusing on whether crimes have actually been committed and tries to incorporate themes about loyalty under fire/duress and/or extreme circumstances.
Structure:
I mentioned Mass Effect — Binary Domain is extremely linear. With some moments of respite where you're able to converse with your team members. The game heavily relies on responding to your teammates in battle as well as out. It's certainly not as robust of a system as Mass Effect or even something like Persona's Social Link. It basically boils down to agree or disagree, with 2 other options based on the situation. But your decisions on how to respond to your team's inquiries will affect what they think of you.
These relationships will affect the ending.
Similarly, performing well in combat aids in their trust while performing poorly or shooting your team (accidentally or on purpose) has an expected negative impact.
One of the more unique aspects of this game is that you can respond to their inquiries with an actual microphone. As well as give out orders with a mic. However, it's not that interesting or well done in practice. I recommend ignoring it and just selecting one of the on-screen options. This is also how orders are given.
That said, there are plenty of chase and turret sequences fulfilling the triple A quota.
Mechanics:
You'll be shooting a lot of robots, mechs and assorted electric type things. And you might assume that in a game set in the future you'd have some super sci-fi type weaponry. Instead, you'll have a tried and true arsenal — sub-machine guns, big assault rifles, bigger assault rifles, things that go boom. But you'll also have a number of gadgets at hand. Such as your main rifle, the one that is sort of 'attached' to Dan [You cannot actually unequip it. Every team member has one weapon that they specialize in. You can then have one other weapon, a sidearm and grenades held at one time.] That rifle can be charged up to release a large EMP blast, destroying smaller enemies and stunning larger ones giving you time to attack. Plus you'll have a plethora of various grenade types to liven things up.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2327121420
The robots break apart really nicely, the weapons feel appropriate for the amount of damage they cause. Sweeping out their legs is a viable crowd control tactic. However, they'll still crawl to you without legs and if you stop paying attention to them or don't take them out fully before they reach you. You can end up in a world of hurt if they grab your leg.
In addition to the VERY lite leveling, wherein you can purchase upgrades (firepower, rate of fire, accuracy, etc...) in kiosks spread around the world. You can also buy med-kits or more ammo there. Sort of like Dead Space with its kiosks. It actually reminded me of Drebin points from MGS4 in all honesty. As sometimes you'd need to visit the shop mid-fight to re-up certain ammo types.
There are also nanomachines to buy at the kiosks (they can be found as well) but they need to fit inside the designated squares in order to be used. Like a mini-Tetris game, though they're nothing like tetrominoes. They're all character specific within the game so there is a certain amount collecting needed to obtain them all.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2327121475
Furthering the aforementioned Mass Effect point, you'll select two other team members to fight alongside you [on most missions]. And they all have different trust levels based on how you interact with them.
The Gist:
Binary Domain was met with mixed reviews as far as I recall when it launched. I don't remember a lot of fanfare around it. Even despite Sega publishing it and having a pretty robust and almost “celebrity” voice cast in Troy Baker and Laura Bailey. At least I'd consider them celebrities to us nerds here.
I think it's a fantastic game. Decent story, decent gameplay. Granted, it's not great. But it's well above-average and I can heartily recommend.
Zitat:
If you've read this far, consider following my curation — Station Argus
Quizzical anecdotes:
Binary Domain holds a special place in my heart as it's one of three games I completed while in tech school for the Air Force. (I was there about 6 months.) The other two being “I am Alive” and “Bioshock: Infinite”. I had to play it offline which incidentally is where I found out that Steam doesn't count time played when spent actually offline. In any regard, the achievements I earned in this game are actually dated 2013 from my initial playthrough. I had to walk to the library on base to download this and those other games to my laptop (had a 630M in it) as there was no internet in the on-base dorms. This playthrough I mostly did for fun but to also get something more official written down.
Only new achievement this time was earning Big Bo's trust. I don't know how I missed it before. Dude's a riot.
Why does it feel that way? I honestly and simply do not know. It is something that defies my ability to form a concrete answer I can be comfortable saying I am satisfied with. Not everyone will like this game. Some will love it. Some will hate it. Some will find it average. Some will want to ram a pike up my backside Vlad the Impaler style for being motivated by my review to buy the game and despise it. I am ok with that possibility (please don't do it. ) but to cover my ass, you have to make the decision in the end as to whether or not you want to buy and play Binary Domain.
My review is not based on the technical ups and downs of the game. It is not based on the quality of the story or characters. It is based simply upon my love for the game and not being able to figure out why I still have such fond memories of it to this day.
Do I recommend it? I sure damn do, but play the demo first to make sure to get an idea as to whether you want to buy t he game or not. My opinion on it is my own and cannot be seen gospel as my opinion is one of many and no more important than any other review.

Just a real solid game all around. Is it perfect? God no, but it is most certainly worth a play through.
Game play:
The game play is pretty decent and standard for a third person cover shooter, and melee attacks feel super meaty and satisfying to finish off enemies with.
Story:
A bit of an exposition dump during the first hour or so of the game, though the story is far more naturally integrated later down the line. The story is nothing super special, though near the end especially is real engaging. The addition of multiple endings is kinda stupid though.
The characters however are phenomenal. Big Bo is easily my favorite. I liked how much characterization the main character had. One gripe with characters though is that one of them (Rachael) just kinda doesn't do anything? Other than that, you can really see the growth in character relations as the story progresses, and their personalities bounce off of each other real well.
Other:
Controls are not great on PC. Before i started playing, i saw something that said a controller would be far better, however if you plug in a controller, non of the button prompts change to reflect that, so figuring out what did what took up a solid chunk of my first hour of play time. I did try switching to mouse and keyboard, though something about it just feels awkward.
There's also 2 gimmicks that the game has, that being the voice commands, and trust meter. The voice commands are awful, turn them off the second you get the game. It's bad at recognizing what you say, and its also not clear what you can say. The recognition is also constantly on, so say if you're playing the game while in a discord call, it will pick up whatever you say and possibly make your team mates do something.
The second gimmick is the trust meter which i really just don't see the point in. It determines which ending you get, but only the true ending feels complete? I really liked the ending i got (it wasn't the true ending), but one of the main characters just wasn't in the story because i didn't have his trust level high enough.
Also for people who have played the game, is there any explanation as to why Officer Kurosawa just kinda stops existing after escape?
To Wrap Up:
Buy the game. It's nothing incredibly mind blowing, but it's just a great time all around. At points it's annoying, but the story and characters will keep you going (though i wouldn't recommend playing it all in one sitting).
I give it a solid 7/10
(Also I've yet to play the multiplayer, though if i can convince friends to buy it when it's on sale i will update the review to reflect that)
Rating Scale:
1: God Awful. Physically hurts to play. not even ironic enjoyment
2: There was maybe a single good thing i liked
3: Bad
4: Below average
5: Average (Nothing special, but alright)
6: Pretty good
7: Just real solid.
8: Hoo Boy.
9: Incredible
10: Holy fuck

B.R.U.H, where was you in all my steam game browsing time?
It's a Hidden gem 100%, There isn't anything like it on the market, with the slight exception of that new 2019 Terminator fps game that cost $80, this one is cheaper.
This game have:
Good characters modelling.
Good story and lore.
Good shooting, bullet impacts and physics.
A very large amount of humour, and is actually hilarious.
it's can run on a Intel HD 520 LAPTOP, without killing the machine.

Binary Domain sat in my library for a very very long time.
Game play was super fun with a lot of variety on how to play. Lots of different guns to choose from and picking different crew members can change the experience drastically.
AI was a little stupid, always running to the same cover as you / running to the enemy but not actually shooting them. Enemy AI however were very good and sometimes were challenging.
Bosses were crazy, OTT and I loved it.
The levels were pretty good aside from the boat level, that one was pretty shit and took me a few tries.
Not a game I would pay full price for but at 50% or more off for a roughly 10 hour game would certainly be worth it.

+Choose Dialogue responses, similar to an Rpg, in this case for reputation gain/loss
+A Good Selection of Weapon upgrades for both you and your squadmate.
+Enemy have weakpoints, e.g shooting out the legs of androids, cripples them and slows them down.
+Voice commands, though gimmicky it's an interesting inclusion, the ability to command your squad mate (attack, regroup, cover fire etc.) *I didn't try the feature however.
+Squadmates have reputation which effect combat effectiveness and moral, though some speech options are very unclear, often resulting in negative rep, you can also gain rep for heroic actions in battle or negative rep for friendly fire etc.
+Amazing squad dynamic, as the game progresses friendships bond similar to mass effect. It worked very well, by the end of the game i felt a great bond between the group.
+Headshot enemies to send them into a frenzy state attacking fellow robots, useful for creating decoys in large open engagements.
+Squad mates can get downed by enemy fire, forcing the player or other squadmates to revive them, medkits are required to do so and can run out, so there is a bit of strategy in saving health for yourself or to use on teammates, if they die the mission will fail.
Cons
-Console port, Controls can be very unclear, sensitivity is all over the place (Analog deadzone).
-30fps cutscenes & 60fps gameplay cap, for some this might be ok but it always hinders potential for action shooters like this.
-Messy hud far to big, and it seems to be rendered at 720p, this is even more evident at higher aspect ratios. clear PS3 generation console port swap.
-When trying to fix ultrawide with flawless widescreen, shadows will break unfortunately (though this isn't the games fault per-say).
-Animations are locked at 30fps, This is not surprising as it's a direct console port, (engine most likely doesn't support higher).
-Dodge mechanic feels delayed and clunky, especially bad when avoiding hits from larger enemies.
Summery
Set in the year 2080, this Cyberpunk style action 3rd person shooter, mixes the ideas of present day 3rd person military shooter cliche styles (humour, writing, cover, combat) with a futuristic setting.
Enemies including, drones, androids & larger robotic machines like something out of transformers, shooting off armour to reveal weak spots for extra damage, or shooting the heads off smaller enemies to make them frenzy and fight anything in a small vicinity.
Initially The story did have quit a slow start and wasn't sure if it was really something i would like, infact i was pretty unimpressed, as it felt like a ps3 generic cover shooter thus giving me a very bad impression, but after the 1st chapter the plot really started picking up and i quickly changed my mind.
The main plot starts to thicken, & the humour is well written, timed & works throughout the story offering a nice balance between serious & comedic. Even with the facial animations being dated, delivers a believable and very well told story.
In some areas of the game it had a distinctly 'Yakuza' vibe to it which i loved.
Combat delivers nice variety of action animations, both in cover and out, a great deal of fun can be gained from the visuals alone destruction etc)
Different actions, depending on who you bring with you in certain areas of the game will effect outcomes, which is great. (i'm also told trust reputation effects this and the ending as well).

Characters written actually not bad, like in every movie there are main roles and secondary characters, cameo appearances.
Acting and voice acting is good.
About game design, level of detalisation, architecture its not always on same level. Few locations looks realy cool and enjoyable, others mediocre and controversial ( personal opinion ), but quality of action and shooting is top notch. hostile robots could be destroyed piece by piece: like if you shot off an arm with gun then robot take his gun with other hand, if you shot out leg robot will be crawl, headshots make robots shoot each other instead of player. Such damage system is quite rare in games indeed, made action much more satisfying. robots also have solid AI about cover, supression and flanking, it make solid challenge especially on higher difficulty settings. visual effect of impact by firearms also looks good.
Sound and music its not goin to take Grammy or someth, but its more than enough for videogame
Few words about extras: for players looking for coop mode there is such thing Iike Invasion. could be played in solo, but no matter how much you try by yourself you'll never beat all 50 waves. This mode basicly arena with limited amount of enemies and supplies, provide absolutely insane challenge, hardcore but fair. Player to Player connection yet cheap and old but allow to play with friends with no prob at all, proved, tested by myself: all worked just fine. Aslo PvP mode exists but its absolutely dead. lot of talking about mp on community hub but nobody actually play multiplayer for years.
Conclusion to Binary Domain will be such: medium budget singleplayer oriented game made with soul. thats why i forgive it many things, will revisit it over and over again. Thank you Sega, you did a good game

The Bad: It has janky controls, and the mouse bucked around like a mad horse from time to time (although it seems to be because it prefers to keep movements strictly on the x and y axis, and gets very antsy when you try something else), and there are some insanely frustrating moments when you get knocked down and killed in a loop like fashion.
The Good: The rest!
Sound design is great. The Shotgun is just heaven. The characters are quirky and memorable. The RGG cheese comes through in spades. Dismembering robots did not get old. And there is something oddly gratifying about a French Robot complimenting you on your shooting skills in the middle of a fire fight.
Buy on sale, and it becomes an easy recommendation if you like sci fi or cover based shooters.

This gave me the camaraderie among the cast members that I wanted from Gears of War in addition to it having a more appealing framing. I love the mish mash of set pieces with varying gameplay types and gimmicks. It reminded me of the trashy parts of Resident Evil 6 but this doesn't overstay its welcome like that game does. There were really no lulls in the pacing.
Some of the combat encounters left a bit to be desired and the bosses approach bullet sponge territory but I'm willing to overlook such things when I loved the rest like I do. I wouldn't ever bother with the highest difficulty setting but there's plenty of replay value to be found elsewhere. Looking forward to replaying with different partner combinations in addition to sweeping up some of the collectibles.
Also some of the men in this game have boob armor. I have to stan.

It feels like a 2005 - that said, it's good nonetheless and if you don't mind something that feels a bit dated then you're good to go. Don't pay full price though, that money could be better spent elsewhere for similar experiences (like Dark Void).

Entertaining third person shooter with good gameplay and an excellent plot
Very underrated SEGA game. Also if you have ever played the Yakuza games before, then it's noteworthy that this game was developed by the same team. Playing through it, a lot of nuance and humor will remind you of the Yakuza games.
Highly recommended ????

ENTERTAINING THIRD PERSON SHOOTER WITH A GOOD STORY
ABOUT THE GAME- You play as Dan of 'rust crew', an international group of highly skilled soldiers who are tasked with maintaining world peace in an age where countries start mass producing robots. This game is a third-person shooter with a combat cover system as in Gears of War. The game is set in futuristic Japan, where you lead a squad, to put an end to an evil corporation that mass produces humanoid robots with superior DNA, aimed to replace humans in the long run.
STORY- Though the theme might seem somewhat similar to the movie I-Robot, it must be said that this game is not that straightforward or blunt rather it offers greater depth and invokes thought after you finish the game. In short, the storyline is quite good.
GRAPHICS- Nothing extraordinary here, pretty decent graphics. The robots, bosses, environments, NPCs all look neat.
GAMEPLAY- From start to finish you will be doing one thing- Killing robots. It is hugely satisfying shooting robots as opposed to other foes, as you really feel the damage you inflict on them, especially when you see and hear metal being stripped and blown apart from their bodies. And then you have the occassional boss fight which are good too. Controlling your squad, building trust with squadmates, shopping weapon upgrades for the whole team and surprisingly the humour in the dialogues, all work quite well and makes for an enjoyable experience.
SOUND- The sound of metal getting blown off, character voices, weapon sounds etc are all good. The voice commands in-game using a mic (not mandatory) is busted up and this feature may best be ignored, to prevent frustration.
VERDICT- Good story, Likeable characters, Humour, Satisying combat, Under 20 hours.
MY SCORE: 80/100
