Ready to buy all 3 games again on the Nintendo Switch (and also need to buy a Switch for Bayonetta)
- Amazing music that sticks with me after years
- Buttery smooth combat - dodging, combos, style, timing - everything I want from a hack and slash game
- Over the top story that kept me on the edge of my seat and made the fighting even more badass
- Bayonetta and Jeanne are two of the top cool and memorable characters in video games for me
Highly recommend!
Steam Windows port ran without issues, played with a controller plugged in, so can't really comment on the keyboard/mouse integration.

Where a lot of modern games have similar themes to Bayonetta, they're usually tinged with cynicism and feel like they're chosen to sell copies. Voluptuous anime characters and over the top monsters/demons are everywhere. In Bayonetta these things are essential to the gameplay - I can't picture Bayonetta going any other direction. It's hard to verbalize but if you've played it you know what I mean. The gameplay is rhythmic, aggressive and comical. Slap a mecha style on this and it'd feel out of place and wrong. Not only do the themes fit the game, but they're also self aware. The game doesn't try to be something it's not, which is a standout against a lot of Japanese games. For these reasons I've really come to enjoy the elements of Bayonetta that turned me off of this for so long.
Bayonetta is also easily one of the greatest action games ever. Very fun, deep, innovative, rewarding and replayable. It's got pretty much everything you'd want in a game like this. The sequel rounded off some of the corners like shortening quick time events and tangent gameplay styles, but the sequel feels a lot more safe in general. More of the same with some boring additions. That is to say this is the best version of this game, you will have a good time, it has good music, learn how to dodge offset, great game, rambly review.

Non-Stop Infinite Climax
???????????????????????????????????? is a very unique game. I'm a big ???????????????????? ???????????? ???????????? fan so I was eager to play it.
This game is extremely over-the-top, even more so than ???????????? I'd say. The art style is especially distinctive and it leaves an impression on you, there is no game quite like it — you play as a sassy witch who butchers angels in an extremely stylish fashion, with a lot of sexual innuendos. Every scene is immensely fun as Bayonetta is a captivating character, even if the plot can be ridiculous at times, and the dialogue a bit unnatural.
The gameplay is what truly makes this game shine. It is perfect for casual and hardcore players alike — you can get a grasp for the techniques, Wicked Weaves and combos but it takes a long time to truly master every move, and the game gets exceedingly harder with each difficulty level. There is a lot of content to sift through as well as some secrets if you intend to become a master player.
The enemies and bosses' designs are very eccentric as well, sometimes even overdone, which may be a bit distracting but confers a fun peculiarity to ????????????????????????????????????.
In conclusion, I'd recommend this game to fans of hack 'n' slashes, as well as people who are looking for a challenge and some insane quirky action. Some of the mission's mechanics are very entertaining and take you by surprise, and the soundtrack is great.
♫ Bayonetta, you bury your loneliness deep down in your eyes
Sadness lies in your smile
But victory shines in your eyes ♫

While the game starts off feeling like a clunkier Devil May Cry game with a camera that is more in the way than helpful it really does ... basically live up to that description. The game had me quite frustrated a few times as I died because of the camera getting stuck on something in the environment as opposed to following my character properly while in the middle of combat.
The story of the game was SO damn anime haha, very over the top at the times, and its amazing because of that. The gameplay is fun, basically DMC, and spices things up quite a bit throughout the game as you get new weapons, mechanics, and abilities that will change the way you tackle enemies and fights in general.
If you can get over the camera getting stuck on the environment once in a while, and the fact that your attacks basically lock onto enemies so you can't attack freely to hit an enemy when and how you want to, then I would definitely recommend playing through Bayonetta. The story is wild, the gameplay is fun, the cutscenes are entertaining, and the game takes about 10 hours to play through once.
I'm very excited to get my hands on Bayonetta 2, but unfortunately as of writing the review it means I will need to get it for my Switch as it isn't available on PC and there is no speak of it coming to PC yet... sigh...
I rate Bayonetta a 7.8/10, would give it a 8 if it wasn't for the camera being all funky once in a while.

As a lady, the over dramatization of effeminate character is what makes this game absolutely fantastic. Who lives like this? ...And yet I fawn over Bayonetta's absolute ridiculousness over-the-top model-esque persona.
This soundtrack deserves maximum reward, and the combat is addicting. The fact that they almost immediately bring you into a training room is evidence to what this game is all about.
Sorry for fawn over it like some fan-kid, but this is a fantastic game. I'm glad I am finally playing it.

First of all, the over the top and edgy AF cinematics were a treat for my eyes and the Japanese VA really made them more EPIC! but they could have given more screentime to BAEyonetta's ass, It was still not enough even after that dance after the epilogue.
Moving on from the ass, the combat was really enjoyable and felt as satisfying as seeing BAEyonetta's ass (fk, sorry), slowing down of time on a perfectly timed dodge contributed to that satisfaction as well as variety of weapons, using a katana while having 2 shotguns attached to the heels is peak in my opinion or we can use ice skates while wearing a cute skirt.
Overall, it also managed to awake a alot of fetishes in me.
Bring BAEonetta 2 to PC/10

From the moment the intro credits begin to roll, the action begins. From this point forward, there is nearly no end in sight until the end credits roll.. and it doesn't even end there. Bayonetta has hours and hours worth of playtime to be had for any player who wishes to dissect the combat and truly learn to play. Combat in the world of Bayonetta has so so much to be explored. Once you think you have a handle on it, then you start the hardest difficulty, which does nothing but kick it up into overdrive.
All throughout your adventure, you'll find new weapons and tricks to keep your enemies pummeled to bloody pulp. Not only that, but you have all sorts of hidden items tucked away in each level to be discovered, which only helps the player by granting additional perks to help you along your way. Keep your aim sharp and your eyes sharper.
Be sure to set aside some time for yourself when you decide to try this title, because you will be sucked into a dance that will go on for a while. Bayonetta doesn't disappoint and is a bar set very high for any game willing to try and match what Platinum has done here.

The combat is fast paced and very satisfying once you get the hang of it. You fight a bunch of enemies while dodging their attacks and chaining yours to rack up a large combo. Dodge at the right moment and time slows down for a few seconds, basically giving you some breathing room and a few free hits.
Making a single mistake can be punishing as enemies hit very hard and some can chain stun you and take away more than 50% of your HP in a blink of an eye. Healing items are very sparse and you are discouraged from using them as it significantly detracts from your final score.
You have a couple of exceedingly cool weapons to choose from (my favorites being the sword and the ice skates), all of which have different attacks. Also no matter what you equip you always have a gun which deals little damage but can keep the combo going.
All that is good stuff but the game has some other serious issues.
For example, quick-time events when you least expect them - not only do they require inhuman reflexes unless you know in advance when they are coming, they can even result in an instant death, making your struggle to minimize the amount of times you get hit by enemies pointless.
The bosses were also hit and miss, some were fun and others were just a mess.
Another thing I have to mention is that there is a shoot-em-up sequence late in the game which was just awful and it lasts way too long, really killing the pace of the game.
About the story - it is completely nonsensical and the dialogue is extremely corny but if you can look past that and a few other hiccups, there is a genuinely good game here and I will definitely be playing the sequel.

I did play metal gear rising and devil may cry before diving into bayonetta and I did experience more than what I was expecting and even I have +80 hours, I still have much more to unlock within this masterpiece.
This is a hack and slash game that features a mix of god of war + devil may cry gameplay within it and adds some cool plot features within the mechanics, speaking of which, the tutorial is really well done, back when I was a new comer the first impressions that I’ve got were pleasing gameplay wise, one thing I didn’t like was the incorporation of button mashing, as a person who is afraid of breaking his tools; the game has a lot and I mean A LOT of button mashing in form of QTE, and failing to reach the threshold will cost you your health -ingame of course-, as a counter measure I mashed with both my controller and keyboard in order to maximize the damage output and meet the QTE requirements, overall the combat is great and encourages you to be fluid in your gameplay to get the best ranks.
The game has a length of 15 hours on a slow first playthrough, and once you finish it you realize that you still have more stuff to unlock, and the more you unlock the more you feel the good taste of replay value that the game offers, from aesthetics to weapons, or even lore elements and playable characters; however due to the nature of the collectibles and how they’re hidden, I ran into occasions where I needed a guide to help me locate everything that I’ve missed, the worst part of it is the grinding for ingame currency, which does have its shady methods of being farmed but with a normal gameplay you won’t net the best numbers.
The story is presented well, the scenes, the characters... everything is attractive. The soundtrack is memorable and unique too, SEGA certainly knows how to serve its fans with the inclusion of some remixed pre existing SEGA titles.
The port is excellent and works great at a fluid 60 fps, other than that it does include Japanese dub which is an addition that isn’t present I think in the other console ports of the game.
I paid half the price for the game and to be honest this one deserves the full price, I have 80 hours in here and I still have more things to run through, I recommend this to everyone who likes : short to beat games and hack n slash. 10/10 despite the negative points i have mentioned.

Being bad never felt so good
Introduction
Hideki Kamiya, the founder of PlatinumGames, known for Devil May Cry series, comes with another hack and slash game, Bayonetta. The game has a nice gothic tone that makes it unique amongst the other hack and slash games on the market. You will be using a wide range of moves to make up combos with some spells to spice things up. The game has an interesting yet unique story that has two sides; good and evil.
Pros and Cons
- Interesting story with sinister characters.
- Stylish combat with some interesting weapons to use.
- Groovy soundtrack and good graphics.
Pros
- Healing items become less viable when you pick up more health upgrades.
- Not enough resources to get most of the new moves the game offers.
- Concocting Compounds is a confusing game feature, that I swear, was not explained.
Cons
Story
500 years ago, there were two clans named The Lumen Sages and The Umbra Witches. The two groups respected each other, but there was one rule both had to follow; they were not allowed to have offspring with the opposite clans. So, it was only a matter of time until someone could not keep it in their pants. War then ensued, and both clans were completely wiped out, with Bayonetta being the last remaining survivor of the Umbra Witch Clan. Bayonetta suffers from amnesia and does not remember anything that has happened to her in the last 20 years, since her 500-year-long sleep.
Bayonetta has quite an interesting story. It’s well put together, mainly with its characters and the back story with the Umbra Witches. The world of Bayonetta shows us that the Luman Sages are perceived as the good guys but have evil intentions. However, the Umbra Witches are not good either. Both clans could be considered neutral and have their own goals to follow. the same could be said with the other characters as they are doing their own thing, with personal goals in mind.
This is what makes the story interesting to stand out, and the characters are what make the story great for what it has to offer. Luka is a journalist and escape artist who is after Bayonetta because he saw her murder his father when he was younger. Later he finds out that Bayonetta is a good person and befriends her. Rodin is a badass who fights demons with his bare hands, while also being a gunsmith who runs a bar on the side. Rodin is not a major character, but his impression did last. He sits on the sidelines to see how things play out instead of fighting them, despite being very powerful. The story that the game presents is nicely crafted, with a lot of loveable characters, and the humour is the cherry on top.
Gameplay
You have a variety of sinister moves to use when fighting against the Angels. Unusually, Bayonetta uses her hair in melee combat, however, she does use weapons like pistols and other ones you find. There are different combos for you to use, and different moves to try out. When you defeat enemies, they drop Halos, which you can use to purchase more moves, items, and lollipops to help you in combat. There are three lollipops to buy, the first one heals you, the second has a shield, and the third increases your damage. You can also unlock weapons by picking up the Angelic Hymns Gold LP discs. These weapons give you access to more combos, which spice up the gameplay a bit. To get these discs, you will need to defeat certain bosses or find them throughout the level, at which point you can then give them to Rodian to make the weapon. My favourite weapon would be Shuraba; a very agile weapon and can deal a good amount of damage along with some good combos. Durga is a pair of gauntlets, and while slow, it’s fire and lighting modes make up for it, thus making it a fun weapon to use. All of these weapons are optional, so you don’t have to go out of your way to collect them all if you don’t want to. Bayonetta can enter a mode called Serious Mode, where she creates monsters from her hair to perform finishing moves on bosses. Bayonetta can make monsters like a dragon or crow, you will then be placed in an optional quick time event where you can press a button and if you max the circle meter up you will get some free Halos
However, as great as Bayonetta is, the gameplay has three glaring issues that should be noted. The healing items started to be less viable as you get more health upgrades, to the point where I had to use almost all of them to fully heal me. There are healing based orbs in the game, but they are very rare to come by and did not replenish enough. You also don’t get enough resources to try out the new moves that the game gives you. In games like DMC you will get plenty of resources to buy new moves for all of your weapons to get more combos. However, in Bayonetta, that option is not there, and you are not able to get all the moves you want to use. Then there is Concocting Compounds, a feature in the game I swear was not explained, and is confusing on how it works. You can get these Crystallized Compounds, which are the ingredients to craft the items, and you will need a certain amount to craft the item. It’s just this feature that is not explained properly, so I was never able to craft any of the items that the game had.
Graphics and Performance
The graphics for the game were very well put together and were beautiful in some areas. some places were dark while others were bright and colorful. The game runs smoothly at 60 FPS, and I came across no issues when playing. The game was tested with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, 16 GB of ram, and an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Quad-Core Processor.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2174665227
Soundtrack
The game has one groovy soundtrack, with a lot of catchy beats to listen to while playing the game. My favorite song has to be the battle theme, Fly Me to The Moon: I always loved listening to this song as it was catchy and felt so nice. The song is a remix of the original song Fly to The Moon by Bart Howard from the year 1954.

Final Verdict
Bayonetta is a great hack and slash game with very interesting weapons and spells to use, and a great story. The game may have some gameplay issues, but it’s nothing too serious as it was still fun. If you love DMC, then you will love Bayonetta, without a doubt, as both games share similarities.
Final Score 8/10

This game just shows how rusty my reflex are in terms of dodging and quick time events and I could pity some of that from the hitboxes. Addition to that, are the invisible barriers that somehow messed up your camera while doing a combo.
Other than my excuses, It was a remarkable hack n' slash game that rewards player for doing well in every encounter. A satisfying roster of boss fight that is unique and fun.
I'm willing to give it a better score, but the appeal just doesn't click for me. Evidently being a Japanese developed game, I feel like they go over the top in term of style. I can see that being a good thing for others but not for me. In the end, It'll comes down to our individual taste.

+ story
+ Ba(e)yonetta <3 and her hair demon killing skills
+ fighting & gameplay
+ music w/ some dance sequence in the end
+ views of bewbs, a-s-s and of course kills.
salacious, absurd but funny and enjoyable
Hope more of Bayonetta games gets ported to PC.

Good game, buy it - very cheap at £5 on sale but definitely worth it. Here's hoping Bayonetta 2 can somehow release on other platforms soon

Hilarious bosses, weapons waay to many combos, plenty of weapons with 2 swappable setups for arms and legs. Game is very fast specially on highest difficulty setting (i beat it on consoles).
it is like DMC4 combined with Vanquish with sexy character throwing sex poses here and there. It si masterpiece in its genre.
10/10, kinda unfortunate that bayonetta 2 is Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Pros :
-> Amazing port of an amazing classic! (Game runs very smoothly on most of the devices, Bayonetta looks beautiful on PC with Full HD, high settings. Really perfect port of the timeless classic!)
-> Very good soundtrack
-> Very good Characters (Bayonetta is literally female Dante, although a little bit more sexual comparing to him, while Jeanne serves as a main rival aka Female Vergil, We also have other side characters like Enzo, Rodin or Luka)
-> Story is simple yet very effective and enjoyable (I know I can't expect here the Witcher 3 level storyline, but Imma say Bayo story was very enjoyable for me)
-> Amazing gameplay (very fast/dynamic, tons of weapons, simple crafting mechanics that allows us to craft items that will heal or empower us so basically we don't need to go back to shop, tons of Accessories that can be game changers)
-> Huge variety of enemies (in this game we mostly fight Angels, situation changes in Bayo 2 but this review is designed specifically for Bayo 1)
-> Bosses (Each boss is very unique, each boss have different mechanics, different playstyle and strategy for them is required, different quick time events... Yeah each boss is completely different)
-> Jeanne as unlockable character
-> Tons of costumes
-> Big replayability value of the game (same story like with DMC)
Now for the cons/controversial stuff when it comes to this game :
-> Game is hella sexualised, I saw many comments saying how Bayonetta is very sexualised type of a game, with nudity, sex related jokes, tons of sexual references... I know people that were saying that they literally couldn't finish the game because it was very sexualised and it bothered them a lot durning playthrough. Well for me that isn't the problem, on the contrary! I found Bayo to be the Badass woman that owns her sexuality and shows how powerfull she is. Dunno why people have problems here, but hey to each of their own!
-> Quick Time Events : Yeah, they can be quite annyoing to deal with, especially at the beggining of the game when you're completely inexperienced! You need to time them perfectly, otherwise in some instances you will just die, simple as that. So yeah, it can be annoying but don't worry! Just practice and try as best as you can! I had troubles with them at the beggining too! And I remember I literally died 8 times in one place! So yeah! I understand how frustrating they can be at the beggining, but like I've said : Practice and you will master them in no time.
-> Controller required : This is the type of a game where you literally have to have somekind of a controller. I can't imagine playing Bayonetta with Keyboard... Literally I can't! Controller is a must for this game, simple as that
-> Spikes of difficulty... Not gonna lie, this game ain't easy. Especially when you switch difficulties from Easy -> Medium/Normal -> Hard... Yeah, the jump is noticeable, especially from Easy to Normal (On normal they literally cut 1/2 of your health from the amount you had on Easy). I recommend starting the game at easy, then push for higher difficulties once you became more comfortable with combos and game mechanics.
So yeah, I think that is all when it comes to Bayo. I find this game to be really enjoyable. Recently I returned to playing it on my PC after long break (hence why hours here are small), but like I've said, I played it a lot in the past and maybe I will try to do full 100% run here on my PC. Who knows, anyway, lemme know if you have any questions. I Will try to answer them as best as I can! Cheers folks!

Dodge, dodge/deflect, deflect —> counterattack.
This game is not button mashing simulator, like DMC, you need to memorize enemy patterns and attack at the precise moment. Game is very hard(even on normal difficulty),punish player and lower the points for each death. that you spend on items.
Port is decent(1080@60 work perfectly with reshade).
Story don't make any sense, you better skip it.
Game require multiple walkthrough to collect and unlock things. First playthrough take up to 12+ hours.
