The 'Warriors of the North' DLC for Battle Brothers expands the game with a more distinct northern region, as well as different starting scenarios to pick for your mercenary company. Face an entirely new faction of barbarians in battle, wear new viking and rus themed gear, and follow the legend of the ‘Ijirok’, a mythical creature of the frozen north!

Features:

Origins - Pick one of ten different origins and play as northern barbarians, peasant militia, or a flock of cultists. Each origin has special rules that shape your campaign into a different experience from beginning to end.
New Opponents - Face an entirely new faction of northern barbarians, complete with their own gear and unique mechanics.
Legendary Locations - Visit two new legendary locations and fight two new bosses in a quest that leads to a legendary reward.
Champions - Hunt down enemy champions and face them in battle to claim famed items for yourself.

Das mit Abstand beste DLC zu Battle Brothers - es erweitert das Gameplay nicht nur mit neuen Ausrüstungsgegenständen, Gegnern und Aufträgen, sondern bietet zudem viele neue, teils sehr spezielle, Startsituationen welche die ohnehin enrome Wiederspeilbarkeit massiv erhöhen. (Superlative ftw! :D)

I´m a great fan from turn-based strategic games and a great fan from rpg´s (preferably medival or fantasy), with this game i become both. It´s damn hard and all losses let you bleed but so sweeter tastes the victory.
The sound track is really good and the graphics are fit to the genre.

I recommend this game but you need an iron hide to master the fights and losses are everywhere!

Great game. Just want to say though, that the only reason I bought the DLC's is because of the mods available. I love Battle Brothers, but when I was told mod support wasn't an option I could't bring myself to dump more money into a bunch of DLC's, regardless of how cool they are. Now that I see there are some good mods out there I'm willing to give a little more. DEVS TAKE NOTE!

I had 100 hours in the base game...

...bought this DLC plus Beasts & Exploration, logged 200 more hours into it.

Now I'm [very] anxiously waiting for the next DLC (which should come out in a few weeks) because I want to play more.

If this doesn't make a game awesome, and its DLCs b*tchin', I don't know what does.

Also, after logging these extra 200 hours, I must say that the guy who wrote BB's texts is a beast. The game has a large amount of writing and I read every single word I came across, which I might only have done twice or thrice before in over 30 years playing these things. And that's considering half my bedroom is covered by books, so reading in itself is not the issue. The guy is good.

The DLC just adds to whats already good about battle brothers with new origins for your band of sellswords (or cultists if you want to be nutty like that). It just adds more for the replay ability that the game already has.

This expansion is great. I love the new barbarians, the gear looks very authentic and the new music is amazing. You can play as barbarians as well as a good few other new backgrounds to choose from, such as a group of cultists, or a peasant militia army, and each one is really cool to play as, nothing feels especially rushed or tacked on.
There are new contracts and events for the enemies (all of which are still written at the high standard of the base game) and its all fucking awesome.

The Barbarians are interesting and add variety, enemy champions are a nice addition, of course, the new starting choices are absolutely great.

I waited a few weeks to process this DLC before writing a review. I wanted to give a thumbs up as I'd like to support the devs, but ultimately I'm just not so sure about the content in this one.

I had to give this a thumbs down review after coming to realize that I have been avoiding the new barbarian faction on account of there being no reason to interact with them, as reasoned below:

The newly added weapons and armor from barbarians
Pretty much all vendor trash. There's only one exception: the heavy throwing axes, which is a god send for making throwing builds pretty viable now. All the other weapons and armor are inferior in basically every way to normal gear. The only reason to use it is if you literally have nothing else to use, or you're just very much into roleplaying I guess. The devs should really find some way to make their weapons and armor as more of a sidegrade instead.

Their gear being inferior, though, makes sense and I get that. But there ought to be some alternative reward for fighting them, if not for their loot. Think outside the box. Maybe post-battle, your performance impressed them enough that some want to join you, giving you some recruitment options (I think there's an event similar to this, but it's so rare you can't count on it). Or work in some sort of trophy->crafting system instead.

Difficulty
The difficulty of the barbarbian faction seems like it was geared towards this game's seasoned players with hundreds of hours of experience and looking for a challenge. It's a challenge for the sake of a challenge. This faction's tier 3 enemies are far and beyond the difficulty of other faction's tier 3's. I couldn't reliability deal with them until around the time the second crisis was starting or ending. Many players in the community have delcared that even the black monolith battle is easier than taking on a large barbarian camp. I wouldn't really mind this challenge if there was some rewarding reason for doing so, but this goes back to the loot issue from above.

Other things
You sort miss out on getting to play around with the new barbarian background if you're not doing a barbarian origin start, which is a little annoying. It's basically just up to RNG on getting the events to acquire one. I only ever got one so far, and he of course rolled with some rather undesirable stars.

The new legendary location and loot associated with it is good, though, I'll give it that. I enjoyed that boss fight.

The new non-barbarian weapons and armor is all pretty good. Whips are great. New named weapons are a plus. The new helmets look good.

No new crisis really seems like a miss I think, and adds to the underwhelming feeling. The community have come up with some creative ideas on what it could have been.

Finally themed campaigns can really be done! The Origins bring an extra flavor and offer different challenges.
More weapons, more enemies, one more perk, improved Named items...Meaty one i tell ya!
