???? Batman - The Telltale Series ????
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2799577553
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2795723269
Grafik & Sound

I'm not Telltale style games' biggest fan, but as a Batman fan these turned out to be a fantastic experience. A well written and intriguing story with great character development.
As it happens in these kind of games, there isn't much gameplay, it's mostly an interactive movie that you play mainly for its story and characters. There are a lot of interesting choice and consequence moments that, although they might not be as meaningful to the story outcome as they'd seem, they do affect Batman's relationships with the other characters and add plenty of interesting variations to the plot.
Batman Telltale series feels actually more like a Bruce Wayne story than a Batman story (and it might be likely one of the best Bruce Wayne stories ever written). So don't expect a 'superhero' story (Batman isn't meant to be a superhero anyway), it's more like a dark crime/drama with a lot of conflict and moral dilemmas in which things aren't as simple as being the masked hero who stops the bad guy from doing bad things and saves the day.
These games do a great job at making players question their moral values and choices, and live with the consequences. A must-play series if you want to explore the human aspect of Bruce Wayne/Batman, feel the dark side and implications of being the masked vigilante, and realize that you just can't be a perfect Batman.

This game, which we play as a character with two different lives, shows us the challenges of being both Bruce Wayne and Batman at the same time.
Prologue
My Telltale adventure, which started with The Wolf Among Us, continued with Batman, a character I admire from the world of comics and cinema. The rich story and choices of the game make you feel that you are really in control, while it certainly manages to immerse you in the atmosphere with its beautiful music and sound effects.General Review
Batman - The Telltale Series also contains Telltale's action mechanics in a very nice way. In addition, this action system, which has been specially added for a Batman game, even allows us to calculate our movements and choose how to fight. It was a production that really fascinated me, including its unique visual style and the difficult choices it contained.Epilogue
This type of interactive story is not a game style that is for every player. So; if you like this kind of games, or if you are interested in Batman, you can definitely give it a shot. But; if you are going to play this genre for the first time, I recommend that you start with a production that looks a little simpler, such as The Wolf Among Us.

- Selina played a great role in the first 3 episodes but got shafted in the remaining 2 and was simply used as a plot device, especially in episode 5.
- Choices made didn't change much in the story. Whether you choose one option or the other, the ending is still the same. I wish there were more effort put into really changing up the endings. Multiple routes in many other games like Visual Novels are what made them so popular - to see where each different action leads. Alas, it wasn't the case for this game.
However, despite my disappointment with the above 2 points, I am overall really happy with the story and the take on the characters. I had a good time with this one and that, to me, is all that matters and what deserves a recommendation. It was worth my time and maybe yours too.

But let's give them credit: their games flow. You never get frustrated by being stuck somewhere, having to hunt for boring collectibles, fight weird bugs or some difficulty spike. You just relax, have some fun and enjoy the story while deciding what to do about Catwoman. :D The story, by the way, was good -- it had its moments and some very unexpected plot twists. The fact that it focused quite a bit on Bruce Wayne (instead of just Batman) was welcome too.
All in all, very enjoyable (and it felt a lot shorter than the 8h I spent on it, which is a good thing).
Score: 80/100.

I am Batman
-Disclaimer: I know there are avid DC fans out there. Please know that the Telltale variation has its own outlook on the Batman universe.-
You play as Bruce Wayne, the boy who lost both of his parents in an alley to a burglar who went after Martha’s pearl necklace and Thomas’ thick wallet - Thomas being a philanthropist and accomplished surgeon and Martha being an heir to Kane Chemical. Thomas did his best to protect his family, but due to a trigger-happy fellow with a side dish of panic, the burglar went to end Thomas and Martha in cold-blooded murder. Or was that how they told you in the comics? Some of the villains are best buds with Batty McBats; even the plot, how they became an evil-doer, has changed. However, it works very well. New crime syndicates, estranged frenemies, even a different perspective of the parents. It makes no sense, yet Telltale has made it fit perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle.
How Batman became Batman, is the same narrative as that of the comics, TV show, or any mediums through which you’ve encountered Batman before. That has not changed, nor have his abundance of fancy bat-gadgets while being a criminal detective, with a charming sense of vigilantism.

The Batmobile
Similar to all Telltale titles, you’ll be given Quick Time Events (QTEs) to smash down a button as quickly as possible or have a negative outcome. Compared to the previous games, I found Batman to be more action-orientated, which I appreciated. There were a few scenes where I would press the buttons with their combo prompts in a manner; like I was playing Batman in a fighter arcade. It felt smooth, engaging, and thrilling, with a bucket of butt-kicking.
There are limitations on when you can move freely and the purpose of that is just to get ready for an upcoming QTE, in case you had a bag of popcorn in your hands. I’ll be honest, I was eating some nom-noms, when a situation popped up and I couldn’t react fast enough. With that being said, Batman, literally, tends to keep you on your toes for a surprising dialogue or a fight scene that escalates from one to 1000 in a matter of seconds.
You'll read the Gotham newspaper, hear the latest scoop on the television, and even look at an index that mentions all the people and places you’ve encountered throughout your playthrough. Though the lore is different from original comic books or other source material, I still found the additional news update with Telltale’s variation of Batman lore to be enticing.
The Caped Crusader does have an array of fancy gadgets; from using the Batarang to his grapple gun and everything far and in-between. Now, this is an earlier timeline of the Dark Knight, so don’t expect Superturd (Superman) to be here; therefore, you will not see the Kryptonite Spear or other gizmos that are used on villains, not from that part of Gotham lore.

The Bat-Signal
As with any DC Comics publications, we know that the universe, in general, is dark, and Batman is the darkest of the dark. Telltale did an amazing job with the atmosphere - to a park that seems to invite criminals with graffiti and garbage lying about, to alleys that had his parents killed, with criminal lapdogs murdering people for chump change. Even with Gotham being so dark-- despite being sunny outside on a clear day-- it still portrayed how formidable the environment is and at times, how gritty, vile, and putrid the villains that reside within the city can be.
Birds chirp for a hero to help the residents that are in despair. Water droplets hit the puddle from a leaky pipe. Gunshots and sirens are heard all across the city while the screams of innocents are echoing to your ears. Punching someone in the face made my eardrums reverberate, and that brought a smile to my face. The voice actors did a phenomenal job - from the scripting to the horrendous laughter, everything was rehearsed amazingly well. Everything sounded so real, as I was in Gotham myself.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2714245062
My only gripe with the settings of Gotham was the lack of traffic and pedestrians on the walkways and streets. For a city that claims to have a population of ten million, I would expect to see a lot more people on the road. For what purpose does it serve when Batman has multiple streets to himself with no other vehicles on the roadway? For me, it made the immersion drop off.
Batman’s Gadgets
OS: Windows 10
CPU: i9-10900k
GPU: GeForce RTX 3070Ti
Ram: 32GB
Storage: Evo 870 4TB (SSD)
The game ran smoothly and sounded astonishing. No lag, stuttering, crashes, or similar effects. It ran at a consistent 144 frames per second.
Alfred’s Advice
I’ve heard of some complaints about this game on how it’s not a ‘true’ Batman title and that it does not follow the DC Comics, or even the shows or movies closely. Well, that is the point. This is Telltale doing their variation on the Caped Crusader. They did change up quite a bit of the plot, but if you keep an open mind and realize this, the story will not disappoint you. I enjoyed the narrative and setting quite well. It lived up to DC’s dark nature and prestige villains that we all know and love (or hate).

The game plays mostly the same as their Walking Dead games, where you choose dialogues and do QTEs when in action scenes. However, there are some unique features, like the ability to approach a scene as Bruce or Batman, which play considerably different. There's also some little puzzle elements like crime scene analysis scenes where you piece evidence together to find out what happened, like in Batman Arkham games. Don't worry, it's not difficult, the ones in the Arkham games are harder.
My main problem with this game, like the later TWD games, is that there's no option to replay an act from an episode without restarting the whole episode. It's a shame, because there are some major differences in the final parts of Episode 4 and early Episode 5 depending on your choice, and replaying the whole episode can be tedious. There's also a forced letterbox/black bar on top and bottom of the screen that cannot be removed, which I'm not really a fan of.
Batman - The Telltale Series is a great choices-matter game, even though it may be a bit shorter compared to Telltale's other games. If you like dialogue-heavy, choices-matter games and/or a fan of Batman, you should give this game a try, even though it may feel a bit different from other Batman media.

Stuttering issues were prevalent (I have a solid setup), and animations were janky (and sometimes hilarious)
Looking at this from a story and choice weight point of view, which is what should be done for telltale games, its a middling story at best, and the choices are pretty much meaningless. In more critically acclaimed Telltale Games, your choices matter and you feel the emotional weight and burden of your decisions. Here, you find yourself railroaded.
If you're a fan of batman, don't get it. If you're a fan of story and choice weight, don't get it. Even for $20 CAD ($15 US?) its not worth it.

If you ARE familiar with the gameplay then Batman - The Telltale Series is a fun game with some really enjoyable narratives and consequential decision making. Although I still have a few more Telltale games to play through (GoT, Monkey Island, Minecraft Story Mode) I think Batman is the best IP/game developed by Telltale or at the very least, tied with The Walking Dead seasons. Unlike other Batman games, you really spend a lot of time as Bruce Wayne which has largely been an area unexplored outside of the comics. I found a lot of enjoyment in balancing friendships as Bruce with the crime knowledge I had as Batman and really felt like certain moments of the game left me stumped with decision making.
Now whether you are familiar with the Telltale games/engine or not, Batman unfortunately doesn't improve on some of the technical glitches, weird facial movements, and often time clunky movements we see in all Telltale games, but when it shines, it is really one of the best games they have ever made.

for anyone who is familiar with batman you should get the gist of this game... your bruce wayne going around trying to stop evil in the form of 3 villians all working against you. in true telltale way the game is fun story telling... but the interactive parts are quick time events... some of which are unnecessary. for those who dont know who batman is (which rock you live under) bruce wayne goes into gotham city to fight villians and crooks because of years of corruption that left the city in disarray. he puts on a suit and looks like a bat and beats evil dudes up
the general set up of villians you see are penguin, two face, and a new villain named lady arkham
other people you see are the anti hero cat woman and a VERY BRIEF part of the joker, AND THATS ALL THE SPOILERS YOU GET
as a gamer... again this is barely a game and more of a experience with QTE (quick time events) i recommend controller cause the keyboard QTE kinda messed me up... but honestly i played the whole thing with keyboard so its not necessary but for some it will be easier but its fine and i recommend it
as a achievement hunter... it easy to get the achievements as all of them cant be obtained by just... going through the story easy 30 achievements.
i would recommend it but if your a batman nerd prepare for inconsistency from the main cannon your used to. but its not a bad story if your not a batman nerd

The music and optional violence of Wolf Among Us, the relationship dynamics (and voice actors) from Tales from the Borderlands, and action scenes better than all of the previous series combined. The actors are better than ever, the script is infallible, and the camera work is several times better than it ever was - even the QTEs have been perfected, and are now optimised for both gameplay and story telling. Telltale really went all out on this series in regards to camera work - quick shots, close ups, wide panning shots... this interactive story is more technical than the majority of top tier films - it's a work of art.
This game is like a tribute to everything that came before. It perfects the art of 'intimidation through either implied violence and acted violence' from Wolf Among Us, making Batman like a more relatable Bigby, and has an improved dynamic of Rhys x Fiona in the form of Batman x Catwoman (same voice actors, I believe, so the effect is amplified). All of these features were great in the original games, but they're even better here.
In regards to the 'batman' series in general, this game has an unusually fresh and extremely enjoyable take on it - those who are normally displayed as completely innocent are no longer as such - batman really is a 'one man crusade'. Relatives, friends, and enemies are real people with their own weaknesses, their own motives - whether or not you'll end up working together, avoiding contact, or fighting depends on how your story plays out.
I highly recommend this to all telltale fans, film/tv-show fans, and anyone who enjoys a solid action-story in a game.

I personally never experienced any glitches, but I saw a lot of the reviews talking about glitches and lagging, so if you are interested in this game, I think that is something to note.

In my humble opinion, Telltale is all about giving you the chance to make the difference in the game. That's the point isn't it? Choice.
Based on your actions, the story bends on its own way. If you never give anyone a chance to explain themselves and be a dick all the time. You just lose and getting hurted much much worse, every minute. This point of view is what Telltale emphasize on their stories. They want you to do the ethically right thing. Even though how mad or bad you are. There are always some clues about these villains soft sides. Either you care to choose or not.
What else exactly I can say? Telltale really know what they are doing. And they are putting effort to it. Another brilliant job of them. Definitely a must play.
Hopefully they'll work on S3 after releasing The Wolf Among Us 2. Since Skybound(Robert Kirkman) has TWD's IPs and rights. I wish they would add as many seasons as they can add to TWAU and Batman serie.

I wasn't expecting anything crazy after playing the last TWD seasons and the bad and unpolished Game of Thrones. But fortunately it looks more like the first season and also like The Wolf Among Us.
I really felt like Batman while playing this game and enjoyed the characters so much.

The scenes between Batman and Catwoman are the highlight of this game and handled very well. Spoiler Alert:
From their first meeting, to moving from being adversaries to moving to the mutual attraction, to the conversations they have to fighting together when needed is perfect. She was hired to help bring Bruce Wayne down to steal certain things and naturally gets in way over her head as usual caught in crossfire.
The fight scenes are fast and need some getting used to as you are instantly expected to press movement and strike/defend/jump keys on instant prompt on screen. As there is a set pattern of fight moves you need execute. So sudden fast cues to click strike, jump, defend etc with side movement can be messy leading you to die. Of course you will cross it in the next try or 2 not much to replay there except a couple of moves checkpointed. I wish there was a way to fight on own like in Arkham series. But I suppose that would need lots of scripting and animations.
ISSUES The game did crash a lot. 2 times normal game crash, 4 times PC crash. I don't know if it's the RAM overloading at times or what. Or if FPS spike causes it. I had maximum crashes when game was Idle or off screen. Also in game, perhaps due to sudden drop in FPS. Maybe can cap FPS of game to 60, while playing to be safe. Worth trying. I need check this on second play through. The crashes were frustrating. Also the game does not allow you to revisit critical choices that change a scenario - as in should you visit someone and confront as Batman or Bruce Wayne. Meet Gordon or Vicki Vale? So the only choice is replaying whole game to see that. Not quite a great solution.
I personally disliked the major changes / deviations in story though! Major changes in 2 key characters background story from the comics. I won't name them you will see who it is on playing. Also a major change in how one key villain is introduced in the series. I am sure the series could have been as much good without such a diversion. That is the only thing I hated it. These changes Thank God were not in Arkham series. I also wonder how the main boss can be such a better fighter than Batman or almost super strong to be able to crash through pillars unfazed when even Batman's advanced combat suits are not so better? Or how such a person once you find out who it is and why, can have better resources than Bruce Wayne? If you have been a long time comics reader, these change in characters or such logic can make lesser sense to you as a fan. The Films, Games and TV do like changing many things a lot seems unlike Marvel Comics Franchise that sticks to core comic continuity. I wish DC Franchise stopped doing this. The identity of the boss indeed is unexpected and that background story is also a shocker. Actually I should have seen it coming. Also the game has no trading cards. It should have had a beautiful character gallery in cards.
Still despite the game crash issues, a solid playing experience. I give it 7/10. Would have given 9, but the crashes, lack of choice replay and story diversions from core comic reduced the score a tad.

-Cool investigation sections (like the Arkham series)
-Decent story
-Choose to tackle some sections as Bruce or Batman
-Sick lookin Batsuit
Con’s:
-Choices don't matter much
-Bland and easy QTE’s
-Artstyle/animations make things lack weight
Play it if you're a fan of Batman, but not exclusively because it's a Telltale Game

I'll still play it til the end, but don't buy this at full price, definitely not worth it, and it seems these issues have been going on since the early days of the game, so they didn't fix them 4 years ago, so don't count it on ever being fixed.
Edit: Finished the game today. The extreme frame rate drops in Episode 3 stopped later in the episode, but all the stuttering throughout the game remained all the way through.

VERDICT:
Now that Telltale have been found out that choices really don't matter has made most of their games pretty sour but you can't deny that they make one heck of a good story and this one is no different! I enjoyed playing both Batman and Bruce, both having their own battles to face and using their powers to their advantage which is cunning in their own way. I would say this is the third best Telltale game I've played, which is a huge compliment to this game, it's a shame Telltale went bust.
Total Score = 84/100.

GAMEPLAY:
The game is based on Bob Kane and Bill Finger's Batman character, though not tied to any previous adaptation of the work in film or other media.
The player takes the role of Batman, and as his alter ego Bruce Wayne. Telltale Games has stated that playtime will be split evenly between them, though at times the game will offer the player a choice of whether to approach a situation as Wayne or as Batman. Despite differences in continuity, Batman fits closely with the comics. However, his personality and actions are determined by the player's decisions throughout the series.
The game is set a few years after Wayne decides to become Batman, to give the player some control on how they want to play the character without ties to any previous movies/games.

Be the Bat!
Batman fits seamlessly in the Telltale format. A bit of QTE-action, with high speed scenes at times. It's quite daring to tell story about a superhero which we all know very well, and has several iterations of films and series published with praise. This game takes part of those stories as fact, and creates an own universe of the stories aswell. I think we as players happily accept the fact that there are several universes of such heroes, and tolerate many differences as long as the soul of our characters fit. This game doesn't do that entirely, however I can appreciate that.
Way too much!
I'm just gonna say it, there are way too many villains in the game for its length. This is a short game for Telltales standard. There could have been more introduction for the characters, more background, more motivation. The game takes its time while we play as detective Batman every episode. On the other hand it's nice to have a cookiecutter game for some easy entertainment.
NO!!!
- batmobile is no magical Lambo.
- the batcave is meh.
79/100
Oh, just like every TTG game, the voice acting and visuals are very high quality, even with their ageing engine. It's a shame TTG is no more. I don't like their QTEs, and wish these were just interactive movies. With their departure there are no more games like this, and that's a damn shame.

In saying that, this game concerning the Batman IP is pretty neat, even if I preferred Enemy Within (see that review, because I write reviews). I mean, the game has your classic Batman being depressed about his dead parents, and you get to potentially seduce Catwoman, and you meet the Joker. That's all good enough for me

A Telltale masterpiece. Telltale knows how to make a good game, but the story seems to have things that don't make sense. I finished the game feeling that something was still missing and that's the reason i gave a 9 and not a 10.

Datman: Ace Detective
I realize putting an inside joke as the title is a risk, but I'm willing to take it. Everyone who's anyone is aware of who Batman is. However I feel a lesser known thing is that more than a vigilante, Batman is one of if not Gotham's best detectives. This game does a wonderful job of showing you that important perspective. Sure Batman has a lot of gadgets, but he's also very smart and accomplished. You get to be the vigilante detective Batman and also handle Bruce Wayne's life alongside it like Batman would really have to. Sometimes both Batman and Bruce are needed somewhere or to intervene with someone, being Bruce has its own set of advantages.
The renditions of some of the characters of Gotham here were a bit questionable at first. It doesn't take long for it to come together and the greater nuances to shine through though. It does a wonderful job at taking characters capable of and currently committing jaw dropping cruelty and shining an amazing light of humanity on them so that you not only fully understand them, but also want to help save them as they're also victims of the world around them.
Unlike many Telltale games this one actually still saves your decisions between chapters, compares them to others and actually does you an additional solid by giving you an overview at the end of what kind of Batman you chose to be which I think is a super cool edition to an already engaging game. There's also the unique option to leave Batman/Bruce's decisions to a kind of voting system so you and some friends can cooperatively see where your decisions take Batman.
Honestly though I almost wish there was an ingrained cinematic version of your playthroughs that you could watch after because the story on this is fire. It just sucks you in almost a little too well, lol
Pros:
+Story too good to miss
+Great handling of the Batman character and the balance between Bruce Wayne and Batman
+A good take on classic characters
+Collaborative play capabilities
+The Telltale decisions functions are still working and so is the ending condensed profile overview
Cons:
-A lot of the quick time events seemed unnecessary, many of them were good, but some almost felt like filler to fill in dead space so it made the action otherwise good action feel choppy in some places
-It left me wishing they did more with certain characters that became loose ends, but there is a second game so hopefully that one clears that up

The game feels like a Choose Your Adventure, but there are only a few choices that have lasting consequences (and those are very interesting, with some of them not being obvious at the time. You might want to look up information about other people's playthroughs if you get to the end and don't feel this is the case), but mostly the choices effect how other characters feel about you and about how you feel about the other characters. Because of this, the vast majority of the subplots feel extremely satisfying when they come to their conclusions. That is a bit less the case as far the main plot goes. It has a very cool twist and everything you learn about the mastermind is interesting, but in its case that hardly matters when the final scene is merely a drawn out fight with hardly anything interesting said. To an extent that scene turns out to be more about Batman and Alfred's relationship than Batman and the villains (going by the sequel to this game) and that's a bit disappointing.
But don't let that small quibble distract you from the wonderful storylines involving Selina, Harvey, and Oswald, Gordon, Alfred (though that doesn't get its payoff til the next game), and Bruce himself. That's the vast majority of the game, and even the majority of the main plot is great too.
I love it. Best Batman so far. It's among the more mature depictions of Batman, and not in ways that you feel are only there to earn it in the label. And the next season is even better.

First Impressions
We’re so used to Batman being in action games that it was surprising to hear that he’d star in an adventure title. I was skeptical about Telltale Games’ player choice-driven adventure game formula as means to bring Batman to a new audience, for it was starting to get tiresome and show its age. So even if Telltale Games were the right developers to deliver a Batman adventure game, it might have been too late.
Just when I decided to finally take a chance on Batman: The Telltale Series, Telltale Games collapsed. With their entire library of games gone on Steam and GOG, there was nowhere to get them. Most of their catalogue eventually returned, and I picked up BTTS and its sequel (Batman: The Enemy Within – The Telltale Series) soon after. Man, am I ever glad this game came back because it’s simply incredible.
What BTTS Did Well
Despite not being an action game, BTTS offers an exciting, engaging story that reimagines the Batman mythology. Telltale Games held no punches in discarding what is canon right from the start, so they could weave a unique narrative that stands out among its many peers in comics, movies, cartoons and video games. The changes the writers made, some of which would likely ruffle some feathers, resulted in a game that is full of surprises, even for long-time Batman fans.
To my knowledge, BTTS is the first Batman game that shines the spotlight on both Bruce Wayne and Batman with equal measure. Players are used to being the fearsome Batman, fighting their way out of sticky situations. Playing as Bruce about half the time in BTTS means being exposed and more vulnerable. This can be jarring at first, as there are no Batsuits and gadgets to offer protection. As Bruce, players will need to learn to take verbal jabs and stinging accusations with composure, and retaliate with wit and charm. Since this is a Telltale game, players can also forgo diplomacy and respond like a jerk.
As it turns out, juggling dual personas, balancing relationships with the same people as your alter ego (e.g. Lieutenant Gordon, Harvey Dent), and navigating social and political situations using only your guile prove to be highlights of BTTS. I’d argue that in video games, it’s easier to play as Batman than as Bruce Wayne.
What BTTS Could Have Done Better
Despite the refreshing take on Batman’s story, BTTS has a slightly uneven start. Right after an exciting introduction, you quickly get thrown into talking about depressing and serious topics like your parents’ deaths, Alfred worrying about you, and politics. Thankfully, the game does recover from this bumpy beginning, and the remainder of the series gets more thrilling and emotionally charged. Still, for a Batman adventure game that had much to prove, it could have used a stronger introduction.
BTTS does have its share of cinematic action sequences, which players participate through quick time events. They weren’t particularly thrilling to me as the fight scenes were pretty much scripted. Because I couldn’t anticipate what keys to press, I found the whole process more reactive than proactive, which didn’t make me feel that much like a strategic crimefighter. I would have preferred the game allowing me to direct my own action (e.g. direction keys to dodge, Q for left attack, E for right attack) on the fly within a fight scene of various prescripted possibilities.
As an adventure game, BTTS is the ideal platform to highlight Batman’s abilities as a detective. There are a few moments in which Batman can investigate crime scenes to gather clues, and then link appropriate clues together to reconstruct the crime scene. While this is nowhere as easy as finding crime scene hotspots and letting the game solve the entire mystery for you as in the Batman: Arkham series, the detective work in BTTS is still quite effortless. It would have been nice to have the crime scenes requiring more work to solve.
What BTTS Did Poorly
There is a Shadows Mode DLC that players can get to play BTTS in black and white, with accent colours on select characters. I found this DLC to be a gimmick because the game’s visuals were not designed to being presented in this manner. Films like Schindler’s List and Sin City, both of which are black and white films with accent colours, were lighted and shot with this form of presentation in mind. BTTS, on the other hand, was designed to be seen in colour, and it doesn’t work as well when it’s in black and white.
Furthermore, simply stripping the game’s visuals of its colours and throwing in accent colours on some characters takes away the power of colours in telling a great story. Besides, the villains
(i.e. Harvey Dent, Oswald Cobblepot, and Lady Arkham)
are simply not colourful enough in their designs to warrant having accent colours used on them. The combination of weak contrast of light and shadow, and distracting accent colour use makes the Shadows Mode effort amateurish.
Having said that, I found Shadows Mode uninteresting. You also can’t switch from playing the game in colour (Classic Edition) to black and white (Shadows Edition) with a simple press of a key for quick comparison. You’d need to exit your current game and restart it in Shadows Edition, which is absolutely annoying.
Final Thoughts
Despite a slightly shaky start, BTTS eventually finds its footing and delivers an exciting Batman game with refreshing, surprising twists. It really delivers in giving a unique and novel Batman gaming experience, in which you get to play as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Because of that, I am surprised to find myself saying that BTTS is the first game that made me feel like the complete Batman.
While it may be hard to believe that a non-action Batman game can be engaging, Telltale Games wove a strong narrative that challenges many preconceived notions of the Batman mythology. Although there are a few bumps in its storytelling and gameplay, the overall game is very enjoyable and exciting. Now that it’s back on Steam, I highly recommend all Batman fans to get BTTS to treat themselves to a great adventure game.
Bonus: Spoiler-Filled Reflections
Telltale Games really laid it on thick with the parallelism between Bruce/Batman and Harvey Dent, Oswald Cobblepot, and Lady Arkham. All these characters struggled with the darkness within them, as well as with their families. So while the story is engaging and surprising, there wasn’t any subtlety in its delivery. At times I felt it’s almost too much to have three villains to go up against, but the developers juggled the three villains deftly. At one point, you’ll need to decide whether to confront Cobblepot or Dent first. Your decision will have major consequences to how the final episode unfolds, making the game highly replayable.
BATMAN!!!!!!!!!
Telltale, while it existed, created to us many entertaining, interactive movies, like this. If you played any Telltale game before you will know what you expect in this game, but if not, let me summarize to you what you can experience in this one:
-lot of text/narration, this is a story oriented game after all
-during conversations you always have multiple choices as answers. Your answers have some minor impact on the story. Please be aware, these impacts are not significant. If you plan to replay the game with different answers, then these are not going to lead to different endings or to serious differences.
- QTE, quick time events. What does it mean? In different situations you need to press specific buttons and these actions usually need to be done multiple times in a short period of time. Usually used during combats, “platforming”. QTEs in this game are a bit more interesting than in other Telltale games.
-point and click content. While investigating areas the gameplay is like playing a point and click game.
Conclusion
I bought the game during Summer Sale of 2020 for like 6EUR together with the other Telltale Batman game. What should i say? No regrets!
Story: 6/10 Watched already many Batman/Joker movies and will play the game after those? Then the game feels a bit out of context, with a story not fitting with the story of other batman stories. It is still good and enjoyable.
Replay value: 1/10 “your decisions influence the story”. Well, that impact is very minimal. You are not going to see a different story if you replay the game, just different characters will have different roles. The game is not worth replaying.
Atmosphere: 9/10 nananananana BATMAN!
Visuals: 7/10 Telltale gone bankrupt because of some bad decisions, but some also say because they did not upgrade their engine and offered the same style of graphic. However, i think this graphic is still quite good, a bit more cartoony so aging more slowly than “realistic” graphics games.
Gameplay mechanics: 7/10 nothing new offered, QTEs while you literally watch a movie, but still enough interactions. Execution is good tho, no bugs.
Music/Sound effects: 7/10 quality music/sound effects, suitable for the game.
Voice Acting: 8/10 Telltale games have decent voice acting. Batman - The Telltale Stories isn’t different.
Game difficulty: 2/10 quick time events not really hard. You might die once or twice sometimes, but that is all.
Hey, I am an achievement hunter!
Perfection time: ~8 hours. You don’t need to care about anything, just playing the game. All achievements are awarded for progressing on the story, nothing missable.

Its a Telltale game where you are given an illusion of choice in a Batman setting. You get what you want in a Story driven adventure and still has some surprises along the way.
If you have any inkling for any Telltale game you may want to head over to Humble Bundle right now for almost all their games are bundled(Yeah just finished with this and THEN the bundle comes out)
Pros
-Tells a unique story to batman's origins
-Good VAs
- Decent price right now if gotten in a bundle either via Steam or HB
Needs improvement
- They said that the sequel is better and this is already a good game where my complaints are just nuances to the choices(which happens often in these kind of games)

Batman - The Telltale Series
When it comes to Batman The Telltale Series my thoughts are very conflicted. Let me run you through why.
Most of my positive opinion of this game comes from the game’s story. Batman has obviously been around forever in many forms of media; TV, comics, books, movies, and games. It’s very rare that we come across a brand new Batman story. Hell, even in Batman Arkham Knight the “new villain” they promised was essentially just Red Hood. Batman - The Telltale Series truly creates a brand new Batman story, featuring a new villain, and presenting both the Bruce Wayne and Batman sides of the vigilante’s life in a new light.
Additionally, Telltale wasn’t afraid to create versions of classic Batman characters that are very unique to the game. Alfred, Penguin, Harvey Dent, Vicky Vale, Lucius Fox, Jim Gordon, and Catwoman, are all characters that fit that bill in one way or another. I truly applaud the game’s writers for the risks they took in writing these characters, and how well they utilized the characters to create a new Batman story. Having the choice of approaching different situations as either Batman or as Bruce Wayne is an awesome concept, and it’s truly challenging to have both looked upon kindly by the public eye.
However, these same interesting decisions are unfortunately the weakest parts of the game. I say that because it honestly feels like none of your decisions matter in this game. For example
Harvey Dent is an important character, and Telltale gives you the opportunity to be extremely helpful and friendly to him. I literally did everything in my power to stay on his good side and be the best friend possible, Hell, I even said no to sex with Catwoman just so his bum ass wouldn’t get hurt. But no matter what you do, no matter what decisions you make in the game, Harvey will eventually become Two-Face. Another example is the Penguin. Regardless of your decisions he will seek to destroy you.
Ultimately, if your decisions don’t matter, or make any real impact on the story, then should this even be a game? I really enjoyed the story that was here, but why pretend that our decisions matter? This game might as well be an eight hour movie, or a five episode TV show, because at the end of the day none of your decisions affect the story in any relevant way, and
only one or two decisions from this game actually effect the next game in the series (and one of the effects is purely cosmetic).
There are also one or two instances of bogus plot armor which were semi-annoying.
I’d love to say this is one of the best Telltale games, but it’s not. It’s one of the best original Telltale stories, that’s for sure, but the way in which the story ultimately plays out is far more akin to a movie or TV show than a game.
Regardless of my complaints, I still got hooked and beat the game in two sittings. Batman fans like myself will enjoy the story, and might get sucked into the experience just like I did. However, if you really want your choices to mean something, and aren’t just here for the caped crusader you might want to skip out on this one. At the end of the day, this certainly isn’t a must play, but it’s worth the price tag, and Batman fans will enjoy the story, despite the lack of impact decisions have.

Also, Telltale’s regular composer Jared Emerson-Johnson never disappoints with his music and it’s no different here; the soundtrack throughout is excellent.

The main problem with this game is that it starts up really slowly.
I even replayed the first 2 chapters to make sure I'm not imagining it - and no, it's not me, it's really like that,
My guess is that it comes from the fact that this was originally and episodic game, so you need to create a lot of content in the first episodes, so people buying them will feel they're getting their money's worth of content. (Hoping they will be on the hook after a first few, and will buy the remaining ones no matter what).
So the beginning of the game is really drawn-out, with lots of useless dialogs, which don't affect the plot, and at best give some background that can easily be replaced by 2 minutes of reading of the Batcomputer codex.
But once you're past the beginning, and start to play the actual game, the pace really picks up, and your choices start to matter.
And this really is a good game.
It's plot is a bit different from the classical origin story, but that just adds a unique twist to it.
Beyond the first 2 chapters - the pacing is good, the dialogs are good, there are quite a few plot twists and turns, and your choices feel meaningfull.
Overall, one of the better telltale games.

Story's not that long, probably ten hours divided into five chapters averaging two hours each. The story involves several familiar faces like Catwoman, Two Face, Pinguin and a cameo Joker. Although the developer promises 'choices do matter' at the end of the day, like other broken promises, it won't matter much. At least the game's fully voiced and adds so much immersion if you like Batman characters.
Now the glaring flaws I mentioned before is the random stutters that seemingly never been fixed although I'm not sure in the so called 'remaster' it's fixed. I slap huge review score reduction for this issue. They also badly implemented gamepad support since you need to activate your pad before you enter the game, else your pad won't be recognized.
Achievements are pretty straightforward just by playing the game from start to finish, so pretty easy to obtain for achievement hunters. but it doesn't help that this game has almost zero replayability other than testing other choices with almost same story anyway.
So for the price you pay, you get a decent story telling Batman game. There are not that many options, so this one deserves to be played.

I'm going to start with what i like and what is the most important, the story, Batman universe is huge, developed over a lot of years, some good guys and huge amount of villains, Telltale chose the most famous of them all, but they tried to start a new story and have a new take about the main story with an original twist to it and while it's not the best it's still better than playing a story that everyone knows and it continues in the next game.
What i didn't like is the lack of shocks that made games like The Walking Dead stand out, or the choices that you have to make and the outcome of your choices, it feels like no matter what you chose the main story is highly scripted and all you decide wont change much of the story.
I would mainly recommend it for Telltale fans and Batman enthusiasts, but for a game for neutrals it's not that great, if Valve allowed numeric rating this game will be 6 out of 10.

I don't really follow Batman universe in comics but I loved all the games in the series. Including this game. It offered a great story and insight in the Bruce's family history I didn't know about. Also loved Selina. It was probably the strongest character in this game and I applaud the voice actress behind the character. Loved Selina's interactions with Bruce.
I really enjoyed the game and would highly recommend it.

Another awesome story/game by Telltale with cool graphics/design. The batman story itself is a little different from the original one we know as kids, so it keeps you interested in what is happening and what is going to happen next. i would recommend this so anyone who is a fan of Batman or any other Telltale game. I'm looking forward to playing this again and choosing different choices and also looking forward to trying out Batman: The Enemy Within to see how the story continues.
