Created by Felipe "HarvesteR" Falanghe, the original Lead Developer of Kerbal Space Program, Balsa takes the next step in player-built flight simulation games, delivering an entirely new, multi-genre experience for virtual pilots of all skill levels.

Completely my opinion here, but I would say in terms of design, the building mechanism might need a re-think. The editor gives you the base piece shape, and then you have to make the shape you want from that by moving sliders for length, width, angle etc ...
I think in general, that doesn't seem like the best way to present options to the user. I feel like the user should be presented with more base shapes, in different commonly used configurations. Then they should be able to reshape that into the exact thing they want. I feel like giving them a closer starting point would help in terms of ease of building, and with giving them interesting ideas. At least that is one of the things that I felt to be a bit painful when playing.
I think this has potential, but i'm not sure it's worth getting yet.

one of my dreams is to be a aerospace engineer and in a way this game helps me to express that dream.
All these negative reviews saying this game is bad or full of bugs dont take in to account that the game is still very early! The game litterally gives you a notice when you start it up. EVERY TIME!
The game is incredible and even that doesnt do it justice. It has potential and everytime i open it up i can express some new weird design that comes up in my mind.
So yes

While it won't take home any prizes for 100% accurate flight models, it is more than accurate enough to prove entertaining and even reasonable training given a good control simulation.
It has a lot of fun oriented features like paintball combat, first person view, and chase view to give it a nice placement in the overlap between entertainment and hardcore simulation. This makes it a particularly fun and entertaining game while maintaining reasonable accuracy.
The ability to design your own planes in extensive details will provide particularly educational fun, if you are willing to break through the learning curve.
It is still in early development, so it has the typical early access issues such as clunky UI and bugs. These should iron out over time. Considering it is made from a veteran developer who already brought another Indie simulation game (Kerbal Space Program) well beyond full targeted feature release, I have little concern about it being abandoned mid development.

Did you play, and enjoy, KSP but were not able to buy in during the early access phase to see it how it would evolve into the fantastic game it is today? Buy this game!
Did you play, and enjoy, KSP only wishing it had multiplayer and a some sort of 'battle' system? Buy this game!
Did you never played KSP, but enjoy building stuff only to blow it up/smash it to pieces? Well buy this game, and save yourself the time and effort gluing everything back together again, before taking it to heaven and back just to blow your load all over that damned palm tree again!
In short this game is my new K(SP)-hole! As much of a time sink as it is now, I'm constantly on tenterhooks to see what additions the next update will bring and how much of my life it will suck in.

Haven't even touched career yet, or done much with the scenario editor. I've just been completely captivated by making and flying planes. If you can think of something or find an existing design that seems feasible you can probably make it, and you can even come with new ideas that no one has thought about before and make them work.
This has replaced all other flight sims for me, MSFS may be beautiful and have great wind simulation etc, but I can't fly and build my own designs which I'd much rather do. The community aspect of this is great too, seeing all the weird and wonderful designs that people come up with is always entertaining to me, and the mix of friendly dogfighting and chill flying around together is just great.
At this early stage of development you need to be prepared for a lot of bugs and quirks with the UI, but things are being improved regularly thanks to our feedback on the Discord, and the devs are great people that listen and care about the community.
If you have an eye for design and engineering, and love the thrill and challenge of flight, then you should absolutely check this game out.

I have played hundreds of hours of Balsa since the first demo rlease, in 2020. HarvesteR and Moach are excellent, active, and reactive developpers. The multiplayer experience is excellent, and the vehicle editor does the job well, if not lacking in content a little. The solo campaign still needs some fleshing out, but is overall nice.
The challenge of completing an aircraft that outperforms your previous ones or other people's is thrilling.
Consider HarvesteR's track record, his other rleased game being Kerbal Space Program, and you get an excellent, albeit still heavily in development game with tremendous potential.
