CAT Afghanistan (AGS Afghanistan)

This is Afghanistan terrain and objects addon from Operation Flashpoint ported into Armed Assault. Its a simple port, only editing done was to fix several modeling errors and to port this to work in new ArmA environment (there is no normal/specular maps or merged textures). No content have been added (except terrain has no ocean now, ie this is a terrain, not an island) or removed. There are no soldiers or vehicles in this addon.

Background

Initially this addon was released to OFP by CAT_SHIT_ONE (gotta love his name), there was couple of versions released which caused havoc in mission making community as whole cities were removed from the island.

I was talking to AGS in 2007 and asked if I get permissions to port CAT/his Afghanistan addon, he said yes no problem. First work was done long time ago but now this last push was done in couple of days time to get this ready for release. Why to release? eh dunno, wanted some more porting training, O2 time and learn more things which I can put into PMC Editing Wiki (which I did btw) heh :)

Bugs

Overall this is low resolution OFP quality from back in the day, so dont expect much, you most likely cant take pimpin combat photography screenshots with this one. Actual bugs are; couple of buildings have broken/wrong geometry as you can walk through the walls. Some bushes object is missing a texture or its just black as it looks weird. Alot of floating "forest" (bushes at least) objects which is very well known ArmA technology issue and nothing can be done about it right now.

However the terrain and models have been edited in hopes of removing alot of arma.RPT errors and naturally I'd never release something that gives you an error before you even get to mission editor. The most serious RPT errors have been removed and even binarize is quite happy with the p3ds at the moment. Ingame, in actual mission conditions I dont know how many errors and bugs there is to discover. As much I've tested this, I havent seen anything major besides the above stuff.

Requirements

ArmA v1.12b, no other addons required (no Queens Gambit required).

Install

Move the addons/ dir into your favourite ArmA mod dir and start it with -mod parameter. For example move it to ArmA\x\cat\ and then run ArmA with "-mod=x\cat" parameter.

Feedback

If there is bugs that need to be fixed, then report them into PMC Tactical forums and I'll see if I can fix them.

You can find the AGS credits list in docs/credits.txt file. Besides that I credit Agent Smith for doing the last OFP work on this addon and now granting me permission to port it into ArmA.
