Mods Mods Mods sag ich da nur^^. Wer auf Realistischere gefechte steht Kauf empfehlung.

I really wish to like this game, but I just simply can't recommend it. I really liked first Arma game and expected that Arma 2 will be pretty much the same, just with better graphics, but unfortunately it wasn't.

The good things:
-Graphics
-Easy switch from first Arma
-Realism

The bad things:
- Full of irritating bugs. Sometimes I've spend half of playing time to fight against the bugs rather than on actual game play.
- Didn't like of how the campaign was designed. Many missions don't have specific instructions of how to complete the mission. For example they ask to find the evidence or search the area, but there is no clear instruction what kind of evidence or which area exactly to search, so you just spend hours of wandering about on this big map in search of clues, and you still not sure what you are doing. In general I don't mind to do a little bit of search here and there but Arma 2 feels sometimes more like mystery solving game rather than military game. You spend more time in searching for clues, but not much for fighting.

So on the end I didn't finish the game but I've purchased Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and so far I really enjoy this new campaign.

I have probably 1k+ hours in this game just playing the Day-Z mod. Never really got into the base game, but i LOVED Day-Z and all the Day-Z mods. I don't think people play the Day-Z mod anymore, but back in the day that mod was one of my best experiences online, and PUBG is heavily inspired from the Mod. A great time in video game history.

I honestly prefer this over Arma III when it comes to the setting and weapon loadouts. I am not a fan of Arma III's pseudo futuristic vibe at all and I feel its a little tacky. The great thing about Arma II is that it theoretically could take place from any point in time between 1990 ish to 2020. Obviously you won't find multiplayer settings like you will in III but in terms of actual milsim I feel like it takes the cake over its younger brother. Not to mention, it will most definitely run on less powerful hardware. I have a gtx 960 and an I5 processor from 2014 and I can max this game out plus I can max the draw distance out.

TLDR This is much more modern, less future tacky like arma III, runs better, takes up less space however if you want to play large scale COOP etc Arma III still is the option to go with.

While team communication wasn't its strong point when I played and tended to drop out after about 10 minutes of non-sense writing through the different channels, the abundance of challenging Ai enemies and servers provided hours of fun for me.

I join latency free servers and conquered towns and borders with tanks and APC, destroyed industrial cities with artillery (including a nuke once), protected air fields with AA, transported tons of players and their Ai to places I had no backstory for in US and Russian helicopters and spents hours flying an A-10 Warthog and Russian Bullfrog around a massive map destroying whatever I could pick up on Radar or swoop in and blow up.

What a blast it was :)

Highly recommended !

Whenever I play Arma 3 I always feel like something is missing. Arma 2 is pretty heavily dated now. Not as bad as the first game in the series. it's definitely nostalgia speaking, but I always felt way more into it than I ever do with Arma 3 these days.

The second building block of my Arma career. This gem will always hold a place in my heart. This is your mil sandbox with a assload of audio overhaul mods, graphic improvement mods, mechanic implementation mods to either enhance realism or mitigate realism to well you name it created it by the community. I started this series on the end of days with armed assault and into the hype of arma 2...Finally released it had terrible crash issues and performance issues. zBut they (B.I managed to fix the crashing)...The performance...LOL an internal joke for all old arma vets. I have never had as much fun with a tight knit community in Coop games....The missions created by players and implemented through mods (RWO and RTY missions are a must for COOP games, if they are still out there...) This is not a player guide. Ballistics, medical,hearing protection (ace), wep. packs...you name it, it's probably been textured/designed in arma. Before the Dayz crowd, most of what you had were tight knit servers and some rando life servers. I understand many get into the zombie onslaught, this is fine...However with that it brought alot of toxic kids...I suppose as a community grows, the toxic trait is more noticed (like Arma 3)....Forever will I hold Arma 2/OA in my top 5 multiplayer games....if not #num1.

I recommend, conditionally. The condition being that you must keep in mind how old it is. Honestly, it hasn't aged well. The sound effects sound archaic and the voice acting is cheesy. The graphics looks dated, considering that the game looked just OKAY, even back in 2009.

The gameplay might feel a little slow for a generation brought up on Battle Royale and CoD online. The game requires steady teamwork and occasional stealth because YOU WILL DIE, if you rush into battle. You will die often, in the beginning. So, many people will find this game boring...and it is, sometimes.

Try it, anyway. When sh*t hits the fan, it's a fantastic game.

ArmA2 is the best military simulation there is, only ArmA3 could compete (they both are good, but have some different strong and weak points). It's a must buy for everyone, whether they like shooters or not, this game is a genre of its own.

If you got into ArmA only with ArmA 3 I'd still strongly recommend ArmA 2 for really great missions and campaigns - aside from OFP:Resistance, ArmA 2 has the best campaigns available, and wastly superior to those in ArmA 3.

I only wouldn't recommend it for multiplayer as it's basically dead nowadays, everybody went to ArmA 3.

Super advanced for when it came out, played it back in 2014 and forgot about it. The reason I have the amount of time I do is because it was spent trying to load the game on my shitty dell laptop. A lot to do and overall a good game. 8/10

The game is really good, a hudge open world map, nice graphics, accurate armory assets, beautiful landscape with day and night cycle. Unique story line and nice missions. Game has several gameplay modes from fps/3rd person shooter, coop mode to strategy and tactics handling. Arma2 has nice expansions and addons. Of course such a hudge game has some cons as well. One of the biggest issue is that there are many bugs like infantry getting stuck somewere in between stones, bushes or drives car in to a pole and cannot not find way to go arround, enemy can detect you through wall and so on. At the time when it was released the game was real challenge for that time PC hardware, these days hardware is handling fine. So it is a still a good classic and nice to run missions again. Sad that global multiplayer is no longer available for original Arma 2. But all in all the game is very recommended.

A lot of games owe a lot of their inspiration directly or indirectly to Arma 2. That being said, the game itself while massive in scope is very unwieldy to play. The controls and gameplay are both very complex and often slow paced to the extent where time grinds to a halt. It is a simulation game that require a lot of time per round/match. It also requires a lot of time and learning to get the hang of it.

Arma 3 is out, and I don't see much of a reason to keep playing Arma 2. Outside of its part in game history, I've never been a fan or managed to find a way to enjoy the game vanilla. Even the mods seemed sloppy and often very glitchy.

I don't recommend purchasing the game. Even at a steep discount, I don't see much joy to be had as of April 2020.

I have arrived at Arma II on my never ending crusade to review every game that I have in my Steam library. This game came out in 2010, so with that in mind, I have tried to give it the benefit of the doubt in terms of graphics, audio and gameplay.

Arma II does its best to be a military simulation game. With that comes an enormous amount of controls needed to play the game. I think this military simulation game falls more into simulation than it does game. There are an insane amount of weapons, vehicles and outcomes from your choices in the single player game. I wouldn't say that the AI is the most advanced. Movement is also very clunky and distracting. Sadly due to my limited time to review games I do not have enough to go into the full depth that this game demands. If you like uber realistic simulations, than this is a great game. If you like something a little more fast paced and exciting, than it's probably best to look somewhere else.
