:-) *quiet please. thank you*

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1964067969
Match-Einstellung;
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1964069096
Tutorial:

This game is NOT fun. It's over-technical and boring. If your timing is slightly out, you lose the point
I don't want to invest hours just to get my timing millimetre-perfect
Virtua Tennis 4 was far superior.
This game for me was ultimately boring, where the biggest obstacle is timing. Nothing really stands out either. The graphics are nothing special.
Gameplay is poor, in my 77 minutes. I just sat there thinking this is not fun, the entire time
I regret this purchase.

The players move like fridge, slow to turn and always ball watching no matter how you try to move them. Basically your player won't hit the ball when the ball is above your waist level.
And the ball is always aimed wide from the court.

It's far from perfect, but I would expect that most people who enjoy tennis games will enjoy this. Was a good buy at $20; I wouldn't recommend it for any more than that.
Bizarrely, it features one of the most detailed character generators I've encountered. It looks like it took about as long as programming the tennis part did. It has sliders for at least half a dozen anatomical or physiological terms which I'd never seen anywhere before, even on other esoteric character generators. Go figure.
The irony is complete when you discover that when dressing your lovingly customized character, you get to choose between one of three built-in shirts.

+ Physics feels really accurate with IRL play.
+ Player Progression and Style Unlockables system in Career mode feels great
+ Make sure you download all the stars with a in-game option inside academy (Federer, Djokovic, Tsitsipas...) and Stadiums since the game raw itself only has non-interesting options.
+ Player reactions add some cool spice :D
+ Once you learn and add difficulty, expect thrilling battles:)
- Multiplayer feels kinda dead, but it's a hell of a game anyway.
- Voice sounds, unfortunately you will not hear some players accurately but hey, details.
- Few glitches, not that often as bad reviews describe
- That Half-Life 2 in minimum graphics
- I think there will be never a game with a career mode more fun then Mario Tennis: Power Tour (Maybe because the academy environment, here you deal only with menus before the game)
- Training skills will feel repetitive an non-creative. You will add skills with money from games anyway.
STILL a brute 9, ignore excessively bad reviews lmao

The graphics are OK, although I don't like there's no option to take out the cut-scenes as they are not the best looking and quite dumb (celebrating like crazy after the first point of the match for example).
The physics are weird in many cases, particularly the movement of your player, it can be very random somtimes and not very fluid. Also the shot-making from the AI is not good, powerful slice shots? What is that? Topspin drop shots? Makes no sense.
The editing is good, there are plenty of community made stuff (players, venues, etc) that help make it look more realistic. Is a good feature.
Overall I was having fun, but what ruined the experience was the difficulty. I started in Pro and it was a bit difficult to start with, losing my two first matches. But after improving my player I won three out of the next four Futures and reached the final of the other one. In the last two the matches were all really easy even if my player's rating was 47, which was similar to my opposition.
So I increased it to Veteran and man, the difference was abysmal, was like a totally different game. Every shot that went in in Pro started to get in the net or go out and the players out of a sudden got winners from every single position. I was playing Challenger lever at that stage, as I felt it was good to increase the difficulty when going a level up in competition, and I just got recked, 6-1 6-0s, never holding serve, with 3 to 1 unforced errors to winners.
I thought it was the level of the opposition (much higher than mine, so it made sense). But then I went back and played a couple of Futures and it was silly just how better the opponents were and just how bad I was. 6-2 6-1 the first one, 6-1 6-1 the second one against two players with levels below mine. It just stopped being fun! I made errors all the time.
And I understand I shouldn't review it badly because I'm bad at it, but it's just that the progression in difficulty is badly done: all you learn in a previous level is useless in the next. There's simply no progression. Might as well start at the highest level and learn the hard way because there's no point in playing at a difficulty and then just having to learn the game from scratch in the next one. Make the AI better? Yes. Make your player miss every single shot you used to make? It's simply not fun.

Even at the amateur difficulty level, It's really hard playing against the AI if you try to play normal tennis as a new player. You can cheese drop shots and chip and charge because the game is broken in that way, but that's not what I'm looking for. If you just care about winning, then cheesing as I've mentioned is the way to go, and you won't find the game difficult at all. All of the issues I have with the game are about how hard it makes it to play normal tennis.
This game is not fun for me mainly because I feel like it over-complicates hitting the ball with placement. The aiming system is terrible and very sensitive, so don't even think about trying to play by feel without looking at the shot meter or the aiming marker. Your player moves like a drunk and like every surface is the beach, which makes getting into correct position for shots a chore. If you're not in good position, good luck keeping your shot in unless you hit short and up the middle. If you hit short and up the middle, the AI will quickly take advantage. So, you have to take pretty big risks consistently to have a chance at winning without cheese, and the game tries to make that as hard for you as possible.
Due to how hard the game makes it for the player to take risks, the AI should make way more errors. The AI is just too consistent overall (even at the lowest difficulty settings), particularly with high risk shots. If the AI is going to be like that, then it shouldn't be so hard for the player to execute higher risk shots.
I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend a lot of time trying to get better at a shot system that I think is broken to begin with. Having to take my eyes off the ball to look at a power meter while I'm also trying to move and aim my shot is just too much. Tennis is a very feel-based game, and for me, the gameplay here does a poor job of replicating that. I love tennis and wanted to love this game, but man it is really trying my patience.

The dynamic is awful and it doesn't give you any way to learn how to play. Every thing, at the very end, turns to be a series of random shots which, if you are lucky enough, go in. IT IS NOT FUN and it literally drives you to the edge of crazyness.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. LOOK FOR ANY OTHER TENNIS GAME IF YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN,
unless you want to get angry and risk to kill someone, then this is the perfect solution for that.

Currently all the mechanics are broken. You cannot aim AT ALL and will get 25+ unforced errors per game (AI gets 0-3). Your player will freeze mid game as if your controller disconnected. In addition, the career mode in general is filled with bugs (sponsorship, management, etc.).
But don’t just listen to me. Go to YouTube, review articles, or simply Steam discussion group to see what this game truly is before you buy. In my opinion it’s worth at most $15.
Finally, before you buy it, ask yourself, do you really want to buy a TENNIS game without Roger Federer in the roster (NO he’s not in this game)?

If I hit a good drop shot, the opposing AI player will sprint into it just to congratulate me.
If I come to the net, the opposing player will hit an achingly slow passing shot. My player will leave it, despite being commanded otherwise, just to applaud the effort.
During a painstakingly long 30 shot rally, my player will suddenly stop moving and let the ball pass, as he appreciates the effort made by the opposing player.
You've got to love the sportsmanship between the players. Either that or the game is extremely broken and terribly made, and the developers should've probably played the game before releasing it.

Honestly, I only have vague memories of really enjoying a tennis game on the console growing up. I think it was Top Spin or Virtual Tennis or something. I remember it being fun and relatively easy to pick up. I tried AO Tennis 2. The matches were long and the controls just did not click with me. I used a controller. You can barely move the character, they just waddle really. To hit a ball you have to waddle to position, hold either slice, flat, top spin, or lob (or the three advanced variants of those) button until the bar hits green all the while aiming with the moving button to hit the ball. It just does not work for me?
I just feel its not as smooth as it could be.
But its the only ok tennis game on steam from what I gather. If you're looking for a sort of technical nonsensical tennis game then maybe.
Considering its the second game. I honestly hoped for something else.

Graphics
Movements and animations of the players are really nice.
The character models and the venues are very similar to real.
Gameplay
Gameplay mechanics are strong and fun.
Career mode has a huge amount of depth.
Nice tutorial section that covers a broad range of shots.
You can challenge the ref during a match.
There are still a couple of things the developers can improve on, like creating new game modes and adding a better audio experience (no commentators), but as is, still the best videogame simulation of tennis undoubtedly!

Realism - Australian Open realism is on point, other tourneys - I wish because then AO Tennis 2 would really be a premier tennis game. I have played Top Spin on the Xbox 360 which had done a decent job with the venues of Rolland-Garros, Wimbledon, the Australian Open Tennis grounds, and of course the Billie Jean King Tennis complex in New York.
Cons
One major bummer - Federer is not in the list of characters! I agree that the players that participated in the tournament of the Australian Open were those who are part of the game, but others who play this game may feel a sense of an old friend missing. Also, Novak Djokovic was not rendered too!
In All
Highly recommend this for any Tennis fan! For me, one of the top Tennis games out on Steam for the PC

The gameplay makes no sense, it is so obvious that any game designer in the world would have told the team to revamp it totally. The aiming feels like aiming in a multiplayer FPS with a gamepad.
I have played around 3 hours, and I feel like I spent 30 hours on the game. Playing is not enjoyable, even though the game is fluid and far from the ultra buggy experience World Tour is.
My only hope is now on Tennis Elbow 2020...

AO Tennis 2 - A detailed conclusion after 28 hours and 1 ingame-year of career mode
Ugh, Tennis games. There always seems to be luck involved when it comes to the quality of the king-of-the-rackets sport turned into video games. The financial backbone is nowhere near the likes of FIFA or NBA and game studios are trying to keep their financial risks to an absolute minimum. So, it's no wonder that this iteration is struggling with both light and shadow, but let me start from the top...
The Good
- Solid gameplay mechanics: the system with charging up a shot and releasing the button at the right time was basically taken from Top Spin 4. If you played TS4, you will feel at home with AOT2 pretty quickly. You feel the weight of your shots and the rallies can get really engaging and intense.
- Highly customizable difficulty: you can basically customize everything in this game. CPU level, auto-movement, ball speeds on different surfaces, stamina and several different other assisting systems. You can also set the length of every event from 1 game in 1 set to 6 games in up to 5 sets.
- Australian Open: the only licensed Grand Slam tournament in the game is presented beautifully. There's cutscenes, impressions from Melbourne and the Rod Laver arena is crafted with high detail. You shake your opponent's as well as the referee's hand at the end of a match and the whole ambience just hits the right spot. I love it.
- Highly customizable character: Hands down, this is the best character creator ever conceived in a tennis game. It may even be one of the most detailed CCs in any game. Body sliders for almost every body part, facial structures are deeply customizable, there's a myriad of different hair styles and for the first time, you can even adorn your player with jewelry like earrings or necklaces. The clothing system lets you freely choose what you're wearing, how it's colored and what logos you put on it. Also: don't be afraid to make a mistake during creation. You can alter your character afterwards at any time for free, including body sliders.
- Improved on-court immersion: BigAnt Studios implemented a few more things to improve the on-court experience. Players will ask for towels to wipe their sweat, there are more animations when you win, like falling onto your knees or the famous falling backwards on the ground, sending the racket flying. After points or mistakes from you or your opponent, you can now also give a positive or negative reactions which will influence how your player is received by the media and fans. It's your choice: will be famous or infamous?
- Press conferences: For the first time in any tennis game, we have press conferences! Yes, you read that correctly. Occasionally, but most of the times before and after tournament finals, your player will answer questions at conferences that will contribute to your aforementioned Famous or Infamous points. The questions are pretty shallow and repeat quite often, but it's a step towards bringing more immersion to the game.
- Management system: the whole organization system has seen a lot of improvement over the first AO Tennis. You now have a calendar where you can plan well in advance which tournaments, sponsorship events or trainings you will attend. There's plenty of training options to improve your stats and you can invest money to reduce tournament or travel fatigue or to impact several other parameters. Maximizing your stats will cost you a lot of money. I'm talking millions of $. Luckily, World 1000 and Grand Slam tournaments will earn you enough price money to cover for these expenses.
- Manager: you also have your own manager now. Whenever you earn a new trophy he will congratulate you in a short cutscene - nothing too special but it enhances the overall experience. He will also tell you when new sponsorship opportunities arise. Sponsorships basically earn you money by winning games or over certain time spans.
- Busy community: whenever you need to download a brand logo, certain players or venues, you can rely on the community creating it. Even just one day after release I found all the Adidas and Nike logos I needed to make the perfect outfits of my player.
The Bad
- Infallible computer: your opponents will hardly make any unforced errors. Over the span of more than a whole career mode year, I've counted only seven unforced errors. That is pretty much the amount I make in one match. You basically have to enforce a winner to make a point, you can not count on indirect points whatsoever from your opponents. The difficulty setting does not impact this either. They just don't make mistakes.
- Ball boys still don't move: two of them patiently sitting at the net and when a ball hits the net, they don't move. Why implement ball boys, when they don't fetch balls?
- Generic audience: whenever I see the audience up close, I ask myself what the programmers were thinking with this. They look like N64 characters with ultra-low polygons and super pixelated. They are missing limbs and their bodyparts are clipping badly into one another. You don't really see it from afar, but whenever the camera rests on the players sitting on the bench in the breaks, you see them. And it makes you wanna puke. Couldn't they render a high-q variant of the audience for this scene?
Also, the cheering always sounds the same. No matter if you're playing in a big stadium or a small country club, the crowd cheers will always sound like you're playing on a sold-out Philippe Chatrier.
- Inconsequent concepts: remember me mentioning sponsorships? When Nike comes to you offering a sponsorship, you will swell with pride. However, signing this deal will have no impact on your gear. Wouldn't it be cool and realistic if you had to wear Nike outfits from then on? But the game doesn't follow through with that because there is no license in a way that it can be shown in the actual gameplay on custom characters. The mentioned Famous or Infamous points also don't have any influence on your player really. Other than some emails regarding your perception in the media, there's no real consequence to how you behave.
- Career character not playable in Australian Open mode: that is a real stinker. You can't play your avatar in any other modes other than career. Why not?
- Weird, generic CPU players: in one tournament I've encountered a chinese-looking player from Croatia whose name was Kathleen Gordon. Lol! And the actual chinese players look anything but chinese. I know that there are several hundred players that need to be created generically, but it's just weird seeing these crazy combinations of names and ethnicities.
The Glitchy
- Certain ball throw animations look they move in slow-motion. For example the animations from Marketa Vondrousova or Belinda Bencic.
- Occasionally after replays, there are graphic glitches flashing across the screen for a fraction of a second.
- The net is in the way of the camera on certain viewing angles.
- Weird lighting, especially outdoors with hard shadows making the character look ugly.
- Player movement restricted when serving. This bug was transfered AOT1 to AOT2. At least once per match, you won't be able to move your player sideways as far as you want to change serving position. Doesn't seem to follow any rules.
So, these are my observations. Do I recommend it? Yes. Because it's pretty much the only Tennis game right now? Kinda. But at the same time, AOT2 does hold its own. The inconsequent new concepts and technical deficits are somewhat annoying but not really game-breaking. There are some welcome additions in terms of improved immersion and player management, the controls (with a gamepad) are good and the gameplay is fun. Give it a run if you're a tennis fan!
