https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2276998900

A boring start, but as game progresses it becomes more and more interesting. Normally I don't like time limits, but in case of this game, it is not as pressing as 'selection' related and is done right. If you have 10 minutes of time limit, one probe and 3 potential locations to visit you will know that you have enough time for one location, but not for two, so you have to select what you want to visit.
Some things are lacking explanation, for example: how harmful it is going to be to stay past time limit and do turrets help with that; is it more profitable to grab whole container or is breaking it as profitable, does bringing in an astoroid does anything e t c... but most vital things are sufficiently covered (slots for addons could have been highlighted better). I particularly like how tutorials for tools are made.
Controls are awesome, would have been better to ignore grip if player already interacts with other controls (field of view suddenly darkening when you control a probe can be confusing and costly), but that's a minor issue.

While I have only scratched the surface of it, there is so much to this! It's immersive, it makes full use of VR controllers and it's just awe inspiring.
It's taken a minimalistic approach to storytelling, mainly just showing you why we are here and what we have to do kind of situation, with a lot of tools, upgrades and possibilities added to the mix. It's a game that would never work on the screen and I applaud the developers at Ubisoft for making it happen.
If you have even a remote interest in space, sci fi and VR, I'd absolutely recommend this. The price tag isn't even hefty for all the content you get.

The good: The UI is intuitive, it looks great, and it's quite interesting for the first dozen hours or so. The mission types are somewhat varied and there are upgrades that help expand your abilities and give you something to shoot for.
The bad: You seem to be very unlucky and after travelling for years to a new system (instantaneous in game) or hundreds of years to a new galaxy, you always seem to arrive a few minutes (6-25) before asteroids are about to careen through the system and smash into your ship like heat seeking missiles or a solar wave is about to pulse through and fry you. This conceit is there to give a sense of urgency but becomes a bit old after a while.
After putting in 20 hours I've bought all the upgrades and maxed out everything I can. Now it's become quite repetitive and boring with mostly the same old systems, the same old stations and resources that mean nothing to me since I have nothing to upgrade except useless structural pieces. I've actually been maxed out for the last few hours but I've been slogging through hoping for a story resolution that I'm beginning to doubt will ever come.
I don't regret buying as I've had some fun with it, but it's probably not something you'll want to put dozens of hours into.

Simply because it really makes use of the freedom of movement you have in VR and how this can be translated into controlling a space probe. The mechanics of movement are the thing I love the most about this game, and this game should be in your library if you're into science, space and/or space travel.
It is a pity they didn't do more. I get the comments that it is repetitive, because in a sense it is. But space, in real life, is not very eventful. And this is abundantly so in AGOS. That's not a bad thing, but there were so many avenues they could've opened up to make the game a bit more diverse. And for those adding a negative comment after only a few hours of play time, it does get better, but not by a landslide. It's not Elite Dangerous, it doesn't want to be. It is A Game of Space.
@DEV: your latest patch seems to have broken fuel. Every time I collect green materials and return this to the ship, I see my total fuel going down rather than up. This only started just now, and at time of writing I have 14 hours in.

Once you've got the basics out the way, you get introduced to the command screen with the star map where you'll move the ship from mission to mission to progress the story, collect resources, and get both a tech tree of unlocks for your probe and mothership. The detail of all of this was very much a standout, it's on par with the finery of Halflife Alex with it's detail, with the same mastery of the 3D space you saw in the puzzle unlocks as well.
Ultimately the singular gameplay element here will be flying your probe around regardless of whatever the task. There's not much more beyond resource management of both the probe and mothership, aside from some neat VR crafting in between missions and progression of the story.
It's a quality package but limited by it's lack of variety, my head was swilling with ideas when drifting to objectives on how to make things more interesting, or other games that could exploit some of the mechanics and pace of the game.
A full of production team worked on this, and it probably deserves it's pricing.
A bigger budget behind this would have added more and turned what is a very good but limited game to a fantastic one.

The ship is actually a probe, that you control from 3rd person perspective, with controllers that adjust very well and very intuitively. The controllers fully handle the probe, which propels with full accordance to physics, and no AI, so this is probably the main gameplay mechanics, going from point A to B. It seems simple and boring, but it isn´t.
This is the kind of game that while slow-looking, can take up hours of your time, because is very addictive, and while the graphics are by no means remarkable, you find yourself just lost in thoughts between the slow and constant movement of the probe and the void.
Now, this game looks and feels absolutely Indi, and for that, the price is excessive. Also, the problem of being Ubisoft, is that, Indies usually improve their games after launch, while Ubisoft, rarely does.
Finally, it almost have no visual options, this is a weird mix between console and indie, not precisely synergic.

that is what people have a hard time with. thats all.
now the story. great so far and im nearly out of the sol system. im taking my time and collecting everything. ran into a bug of my controls shrinking but its a new game and bound to find them. it gives pieces as you go along just like subnautica and other games. will prob still be finding content after each playthrough and thats if they dont add more or change stuff with updates. though the slow as hell transit time to mars is unrealistic. we can get there in under 9 months with a hohmann transfer...took years in game
material collection. gas collection is similar to how its theorized in real life. the mining is similar to space engineers but on spinning objects...makes it a challenge. the collecting by getting close is unrealistic but got to give it to them on that. games have been using that mechanic since early video games.
visuals. it may be just me and my nice computer but the visuals are nice and immersive. i have it all maxed so eh.
honestly, unless you like space and collecting mats and willing to play over and over when updates come out, stay away. its similar in cookie clicker in the fact that its simple and each game level is similar just with some tweaks (so far but im sure sol system is the tutorial system). to each his own. i would recommend this game to geeks and nerds.

The game requires UPlay (I'm sure that doesn't surprise you) and that's not the worst thing, I suppose. But the prompt to login doesn't appear in VR, so it looks like it's just hanging if you launch from Home... I love typing in login information in VR. very cozy.
Once the game starts, things get interesting! It's designed for a seated experience, so make sure you have a comfy chair that allows you to move your arms nearly full length to the sides of you (good luck most people with chairs that have arm rests - suckers). As usual, I peruse the graphics settings which are sparse and kicked off a new game. Right off the bat, this game sorely lacks context or any form of motivational drive when it starts. You do a simple movement exercise to get you acquainted with the controls (which are really awesome and innovative, even if peculiar) and then... asteroids happen? Clearly this is an advanced space faring age with ample tech and we just got surprised by a sneaky massive storm of asteroids that are detectable from half a light year away? Alright. I don't require a full season of Game of Thrones worth of lore and character development from every game I come across, but like... Maybe some voice acting? Something that makes me feel like a human in a world of other humans? Come to think of it, even at max quality, the asteroids don't appear until a quarter mile away from the 'station', so I guess that makes sense.
I need to back up a bit and address the visuals of the game. For a PCVR title with remarkably sparse geometry, this looks like something slightly more impressive than an award winning solo college project and WELL under what to expect from a mammoth publishing company looking to make a mark in VR. Some might say it's 'meh'. Visually, there's LOADS of detail able to be packed into environments like this, but it all feels so naked and bland.
I mentioned the controls earlier, and I totally think this control scheme is a great approach. Definitely feels appropriate for the concept of the game. I originally started playing this on the couch however, and some of the elements are so weirdly behind you to start, I actually had to cram my hand into the couch at one point to move one of the UI elements into a place that makes sense. I'll probably just play in a chair that I move to my play space from now on. Not a big deal.
The music is so middling in the beginning, and given how most developers skimp on original music, I can't imagine there being much to impress going forward. Again, space games are void of so much of anything, something like music can make a profoundly positive difference. Luckily I have an Elite Dangerous playlist that will work wonders on this front. MUTE.
These are just my first impressions in the first half hour. I'll probably continue playing past the refund mark (two hours) because I'm a slave to anything space related. But if anything here turns you off, either wait for a sale or for the developers to pick up the slack and deliver what this game should have been. Jury's still out on the latter. Good luck!

Interesting mix out of VR and Kerbal Space Program. It's very arcady in comparison, but still fun to play. I actually like the controls.
Only negative so far is that the game has a fix up and down which can be bothersome when flying a ship in open space.

The way they handle cameras also works great with a kind of 3-dimensional version of pinch-to-zoom controls on a phone. It takes a bit of practice but it is really a step forward and I hope that other games learn from this.
The game is clearly intended for a seated-only experience and seems to work flawlessly with my Valve Index controllers.
Edit after another hour and a half: The game is still opening up. The first two missions are movement tutorials. Then you have to navigate a relatively cramped station with the lights out. Then you are introduced to your main thruster that lets you move faster (with all the dangers of high speed collision) but only where you are facing. I'm on mission six or so where you can upgrade the probe for the first time. So far the mission structure is pretty linear, but it is starting to give a little more freedom and I expect it to start branching out even more. You are also not limited to your mission brief and can look around in different nooks and crannies to find bonus resources. There is a whole progression system at work here. I don't know how much content there is for this game yet, but there is far more here than people seem to think who just played the tutorial.
