"A Vampyre Story" ist ein klassisches Adventure aus der Feder von Bill Tiller, der u.a. an Genre-Klassikern wie "The Dig", und "The Curse of Monkey Island" beteiligt war. Per "Point & Click"-Maussteuerung bewegen sich Mona und Froderick durch über 30 liebevoll handgezeichnete 2D-Locations, die sich oftmals über mehrere Bildschirme erstrecken und zum erforschen und entdecken einladen. In den über 15 Spielstunden auf dem Rätselreichen Weg nach Paris begegnet Mona mehr als 20 schrägen bis Schreckens erregenden 3D-Charakteren.

Ein wundervolles Spiel. Einige Sachen verstehe ich nicht. Warum zum Beispiel deutsche Synchro im Abspann erschien obwohl ich kein deutsch auswählen konnte. Oder warum dieses Spiel nicht die Aufmerksamkeit und Fortsetzung erhalten hat, die es verdient hat. Gute Optik, gute Synchro, guter Humor. Leider müssen wir mit einem offenen Ende leben.

Für mich persönlich ein schönes Point & Click Adventure mit gutem Szenario... etwas auf Monkey Island Humor getrimmt mit schönen Kulissen.
Das einzige was wieder mal nervt ist, das Steam unfähig ist eine deutsche Sprachausgabe mit zu liefern, obwohl diese vorhanden ist/bzw. produziert wurde. Das weiß ich, weil ich dieses Spiel mal als Original mit deutscher Sprachausgabe in Ton und Schrift hatte .... an der Stelle wieder mal Big Fail an Steam!

- Wenn ihr Spiele Verkaufen wollte, dann macht´s richtig, dieses Englischgequarke (auch wenn ich die Sprache fließend spreche) ist einfach nicht auszuhalten!

Ich würde gern etwas mehr schreiben, aber das Spiel lässt sich auf zwei PC's nicht starten, nach der Installation.
Daher - schade drum!

Oh yes, absolutely, it's a shame we have never seen a continuation to the series. I know a 2nd chapter was in the works back then but I haven't heard anything new ever since, sadly.

This game turned out to be a huge disappointment. Although the graphics are pretty, the story is somewhat OK, what annoyed me were endless and pointless dialogues that I started skipping halfway through. Mona's irritating voice also didn't help the game. At some point I completely gave up and played the last hour with a guide cause I just couldn't bear myself to walk around and solve any more puzzles that don't make much sense. I just wanted to finish the game and see if it made any sense. It didn't. If you're looking for a good point n click game, skip this one and find something else. A huge waste of time for me.

I wasn't able to play this game on windows 10, but I was able to get it running on Linux (Ubuntu). But even if the game worked without any tempering it would still be a niche game.

Some Cons:
For a lot of players it is not playable on windows 10, even with tweaking. It is not a complete story, with a cliff hanger (they were hoping for a trilogy). The graphics are clearly outdated and they have picked a whiny protagonist.

Some Pros:
The game has a great sidekick (a talking bat), who is used in a lot of puzzles (which I liked, as this made him an actual good sidekick) and his dialog is great, I think the voice acting still holds up (and the sound design in general). Most of the puzzles were just right for me (I think they were not moon logic), with some exceptions.

I would strongly suggest this game to anyone who gets satisfaction from trying to run old games on newer systems (at 80%-90% off or just pirate it).

Amazing classic point and click adventure! It really feels like a lost Lucas Arts adventure, between Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango.
The scenarios are SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. All the characters are really charismatic, with great visual design, dialogues and voice acting, especially Mona and Froderick, the protagonist duo, whom could be as good as Sam and Max.
The puzzles are really good, and all the game overall felt really satisfying. It's too sad that Mona's journey stayed incomplete, since this ends in a cliffhanger to a second episode that never was :(

Warning: This is only part one. Part two never materialized. The game doesn't end. Sad, because it's a pretty good game. Also, i had to watch the cut scenes on youtube because they wouldn't play in Windows 10 without going through 47 backflips to install a video wrapper or something like that. Easier to just watch on youtube.

I LOVE this game and can not wait for someone to create a second game to this one! The graphics are fun and colorful, the voice actors did a wonderful job and the music is simply the best. I will continue to come back and play this game over and over.

I remember that I played this game on my old Windows XP PC and I felt love with the story and the humor of the game ! Ahahahahahaha. For some reason that I find it today and it's on sale !!! :O
The game has a very funny story ;) and the voice acting is soooo good !!!
Plus, I don't think it costs like 19,99 bucks (In germany).
I'm sooooo lucky that I find my childhood game again and it's on sale too !

As with Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island (from the same developer), I cannot get this game to run on Windows 10 (not even with all community guides on moving the game to another folder, renaming .DLL files, installing and using dgVoodoo2, editing the game config files, etc.). As long as this is not solved, my review of the game will remain negative, as I think this should not be sold on Steam.

Don't let my number of played hours fool you, btw. Those are from trying to get the game to run and forgetting to close the main.exe program from Windows Task Manager after the game crashes.

I hope they eventually make a sequal. the jokes are long-winded, but the game is cute and nostalgic. Kind of like Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

It's not the WORST game.

It has an interesting story and characters. The setting is nice and the background art is really well done. However, the 3D modeling could use some work as well as the animation. It isn't smooth, but if it were an old game, it would be forgiven. The voice acting and jokes are really good but it just takes up a lot of time within the game. You really should give the option of skipping dialogue, especially after we've heard it.

As I said, it isn't the worst, but it's not the BEST. I was interested in the story and the art was really well done in the introduction. As for the gameplay, it could use some work revolving around typical point & click games. Let us skip dialogues, give us a button to access inventory, and make the characters move a little bit faster. With those alone, this game could be more tolerable.

A Vampyre Story is a pretty good point & click adventure. Funny too. I used to play the DVD release back in 2008/9. Sadly it no longer works with modern operating systems, and publisher responsible for the Steam release few years ago apparently never had any intention to ruin their perfect money grab by fixing the game before the release. Some people have been able to get it to work, but most have not. I'm sadly one of the latter ones, so I am unable to recommend the game at the moment.

So if you have an older computer with Windows XP or Windows Vista, go for it. A Vampyre Story is totally worth it if you just have the means to run it.

It is an good game, but it is only one chapter long and ends in a cliff hanger. As well as the game dose not work with windows 8.1.

This little gem of an adventure game grows on you. Despite the main character being from Paris and talking in a German accent, the game is a suitably silly vampire story about an opera singer (who doesn't really believe she's a vampire) trying to escape a castle in Draxsylvania and get back to Paris. Her comedy sidekick bat sits on her shoulder and supplies plenty of sarcasm. There are some memorable characters, the voice acting is pretty good, and there's lots of jokes on just about every clickable object.
The controls are decent, a few of the puzzles are illogical, but otherwise bearable, and the story gets better and better as the characters grow.
Be warned that it ends sort of abruptly and was supposed to have been a two-parter, but the second game was never made. Some sort of information about that would have been nice up front, but it doesn't actually matter much. It's not too much of a cliffhanger, and the game is enjoyable enough that you can't really feel mad about it. If anything, you're sad you can't spend more time with the characters, but a prequel is in the works, so here's hoping.
I couldn't get the game running when launching from steam, but running the exe file in the game folder worked.

I really enjoyed this game. It had some great humor and I enjoyed the puzzles. I would recommend it. It reminded me of the Monkey Island and Sam and Max series which are two of my favourate series. I found it worth the price and I would recommend it to any friends who enjoy the puzzle solving genre.
