Im Anschluss an das preisgekrönte Vorgängerspiel setzt Sniper Elite 4 die Geschichte des Zweiten Weltkrieges fort und versetzt den Spieler auf die wunderschöne italienische Halbinsel, samt sonnenverwöhnten Küstenstädtchen, gigantischen Nazi-Bauten, furchteinflößenden Wäldern und Bergklöstern in luftiger Höhe, inspiriert von der Abtei Montecassino.

Geheimagent und Eliteschütze Karl Fairburne muss an der Seite der tapferen Männer und Frauen des italienischen Widerstands kämpfen, um das Land von der Geißel des Faschismus zu befreien, und mit einer ganz neuen Bedrohung fertig werden, die der Gegenwehr der Alliierten in Europa ein Ende setzen könnte, noch bevor sie richtig begonnen hat.

Sollte seine Mission scheitern, wird es keine Operation Overlord geben, kein Tag X und keinen Sieg in Europa.

Sniper Elite 4 ist schon ganz okay. An der Steuerung könnte man noch was verbessern. Aber macht schon Laune zu zocken. Einziger richtiger Minuspunkt ist das sie die DLC nicht synchronisiert haben, für den Preis eigentlich ein Muss!

Sniper Elite 4 ist ein kleines Meisterwerk

Der Vierte und bislang letzte Teil der Reihe macht quasi alles besser als der Vorgänger.
Dabei war Sniper Elite 3 bereits ein sehr gutes Spiel, welches ich nur empfehlen kann.

Was die Faszination von Sniper Elite ausmacht, sind definitiv die legendären Kill-Cams.
Rebellion hat sich hier seit Jahren die Krone aufgesetzt - In Sniper Elite 4 sehen die X-Ray Kill-Cams nochmals ein ganzes Stück detaillierter aus.
Es ist einfach extrem befriedigend, wenn man als Spieler sieht, wie sich die Kugel in den feindlichen Schädel durchbohrt, bis zum Gehirn. Oder wenn sich die Kugel durch die Lunge oder Niere durchfrisst.
Beim Schreiben dieser Review fällt mir erst auf, wie krank sich das eigentlich liest.
Aber genau das macht die Sniper Elite Reihe für mich aus.

Ich bin auch ein großer Fan von den Konkurrenzspielen aus dem Hause CI Games.
Aber in Sachen Kill-Cams, steht für mich der König mit Sniper Elite 4 definitiv fest.

Sniper Elite 4 spielt sich vorallem im Koop wunderbar.
Ich habe das komplette Spiel, samt Überwachungs- und DLC-Missionen im Koop gespielt.
Das Absprechen mit einem Freund regt die Kreativität nochmals ein ganzes Stück an.
Da die Maps in Sniper Elite 4 unglaublich gut designed sind, bieten Sie mehrere Wege die zum Ziel führen können. Ständig entdeckt man neue Wege und Herangehensweisen. Davon profitiert dieses Spiel immens, denn der Wiederspiel-Wert ist dadurch deutlich höher.

Rebellion hat sich bei Sniper Elite 4 deutlich mehr auf die Experimentierfreude fokussiert.
Und da die automatischen Speicherpunkte wirklich sehr fair gesetzt sind, kann man hie und da auch mal ein Risiko wagen.

Die Story ist kein Meisterwerk. Aber sie reicht aus um den Spieler in die richtige Stimmung zu bringen.

Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen, haben die Charaktere nicht sehr viel Persönlichkeit.
Das hätte definitiv noch einen Feinschliff vertragen können.
Abgesehen von den eher blassen Persönlichkeiten, macht Sniper Elite alles richtig.

Egal ob man die Missionen auf Zehenspitzen spielen möchte, oder sich wie Rambo durch die deutschen Linien kämpft - Es ist für jeden was dabei.

Bevor diese Rezension alle Rahmen von Steam sprengt, sage ich nur noch eine Sache.

ABSOLUTE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG!

Gutes Spiel und empfehlenswert.

Die Eingewöhnungszeit ist bisschen schwer, jedoch ab der dritten Mission ist man mit der Steuerung vertraut.
Mir gefallen die Fallen, welche man platzieren kann und die Unterschall (Schallgedämpfte) Munition.

Kampange war nach 11 Stunden durchgespielt auf Normal (Ohne Multiplayer).

Preis ist nicht gerechtfertigt (Stand Juli 2021).

Wartet lieber bis das Spiel im 50% Sale ist.

mein erstes spiel in dieser reihe. ich kann nur sagen: ziieeemlich heftig! macht wirklich spaß, sich diverse strategien zu überlegen und die x-ray zeitlupe belohnt für die mühe. schön zu sehen, wie die treffer sitzen und wirken! man findet sich schnell zurecht, steuerung ist intuitiv, spiel läuft auf höchsten einstellungen problemlos. leider habe ich koop nocht nicht testen können, doch das kommt auch noch. zu zweit macht das ganze sicher auch doppelt spaß.
klare kaufempfehlung!

Only buy this game when its on Sale.
Its a sniping game wich gets screwed when the generator sound bug kicks in.
Rebillion never fixed that bug and its absolutly gamebreaking, impossible to snipe when your shot doenst get drown down by a generator or what ever sound source.
so whats the point to play like rambo in a stealth sniper game.

Erweitert den Vorgänger um größere Maps und besseres balancing (z.B. begrenzte Schüsse mit Schalldämpfern) und behält die größten Stärken im Stealth-Shooter Gameplay bei. Missionen dauern häufig länger als eine Stunde und lassen dem Spieler viel Freiraum. Wer die Zwischensequenzen und Gespräche überspringt verpasst allerdings nicht viel.

Ich habe mir damals für die Play Station 3 den Vorgänger zu diesem Spiel gekauft (Sniper Elite 3) und dieser hatte mir sehr gefallen. Das hat mich dazu bewegt, auch mal diesen Spiel anzutesten. Dazu muss man sagen das 12€ für eine solche Art Spiel ein echt gutes Angebot sind. (MMOGA) Vom Setting her macht es einen echt abwechslungsreichen Eindruck. Es gibt Städte, Dörfer, Wälder und auch die ein oder andere Gebirgslandschaft ist dabei. Viel besser als im direkten Vorgänger, der meist nur aus Wüste bestand... Die Steuerung mit Maus und Tastatur ist sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber nach ein paar Spielstunden ist man schnell drin. Auch das Ki Vorgehen der feindlichen Soldaten gefällt mir sehr. Im Vorgänger war diese Ki nicht so gut wie hier, und hat auf jeden Fall Erwähnung verdient.

Ich habe das Spiel noch nicht durch, kann aber alles in einem sagen, dass es kein schlechtes Sniper Elite ist und eine Kauf zum nächsten Steam Angebot empfehlen kann. :D
(oder die normale Version auf MMOGA)

Schönes Sniper Coop Spiel mit schöner Szenerie.
Es bietet auch die Möglichkeit des Schleichens, aber ich fand es fast unmöglich dies auch zu nutzen. Auch Kurzdistanzwaffen konnte man zwar einsetzen, aber auch hier hat das Leveldesign es eher begünstig zu snipern.
Die Story ist auch nicht verkehrt. Kann man sich geben.

Less of a sniper game, and more like Metal Gear Solid 5. The maps are big open world sandboxes with objectives that you're free to accomplish any way you like. The graphics, sound and gameplay are all great. My only complaint is that the game seems to actively discourage you from sniping. It almost always seemed that stealth was the best approach.

Bonus points for running better than Sniper Elite 3 but it suffers through much of the same issues that plague the other game. It is just way too easy or artificially difficult. The AI is braindead and pretty much waits for you to kill them. I even shot about five nazis out and then moved about 20 metres to the south and they just forgot I existed. The game really expects you to do the legwork to make the game believable and fun.

I joined Steam quite a while back now, after Microsoft ditched MS-FSX and the sim was left to fester, Steam acquired a licence to let them update the game and move it to their platform so I joined steam to support this effort by Steam, however, whilst playing the much improved MS FSX I fell amongst bad influences and bought Sniper Elite 4, and loved it, I have since bought other titles too and like the idea of not having disks to scratch or keys to worry about as steam looks after it all for me.
I play Sniper Elite 4 far too much, but then, who doesn't once they find it! It is a well established game, slick and bug free, but not for smaller kids I suppose. If you find the price too high, just wait like I did for a bundle sale to come round like I did, because it came with all the DLC as well for less than the base cost of the game!
Already looking forward to Sniper Elite 5, I wait to see how they can improve on an already great Game, with Slick and smooth play.

Challenging, the maps are huge, decent ballistics, the AI on high difficulty is OK. The story is a bit cringy but I've not bought expecting much. Decent replayability too.

once you learn the game best played at higher difficulties
wind bullet drop mechanics are excellent
graphics still great after 5 years
snipe or run and gun its up to you but best played as a sniper
bit pricey wait for elite 5 get 4 it on sale
DLC you don't need to get the gun packs the best guns are in the base game
just get the deathstorm missions
after 1800+ hours i could go on for ever

I get bad feels when I find out that the soldier I'm about to eviscerate with hot lead at 300 metres has just had his first child, then I got extra good-boy bonus points for a long range nut shot while dancing the lambada in position two hundred and ninety-four of the Karma Sutra.

You're giving me very mixed messages, game. Please stop humanizing the fascists, it makes it very hard to enjoy killing the- Oh! This one burned a church full of civilians! Kidney shot!

Solo and co-op are the best in any Sniper game I have played, plenty of run and gun a/v if that is your style too.

Can run the campaign with another player, the whole thing, not required. (Note, each player on own PC/own game buy/install/internet connection, not local co-op)

You can do survival (1-4 players) with max 12 waves of increasing number of bots and plenty of tweaking of them to make it more to your liking, say you want NO radar (indicating location in EASY/NORMAL/HARD difficulties) you can turn that off, the 2 difficulties above that, don't have the radar!

There is a Co-Op mode for 2 players only, that each of you takes a different path in the areas, one of you can Sniper only and the other does all the closeup magic, basically one on overwatch the other sneaking around, it's a blast!

Has built in voice chat and works well!

At level 30, all your perks slot will be open to you, highly recommend mastering out weapons as part of your learning the game strategy/leveling up, and plenty of help to be found via search if you need some nuance help!

If into PvP, that is out there too, but I'm all Co-Op in this one, outstanding, some bugs but nothing that made me rage quit, plus even if the internet is being a pain, it can be played off-line albeit some modes of play are not a/v then obviously.

One thing of note, no cross play with console players if that was important factor for you.

If you own Zombie Army 4, different flavor, but I like and play both and looking forward to SE5 next year!

Now a wonderful bargain game and still going back to it again and again!

Always an American who saves the world, classic WW2 story for a game.
But it's awesome as a sniper, gameplay is great and graphics is fantastic.
Buy it for X-ray bullet scenes worth the price.
Currently $8.99 on sale, it's too cheap to buy!

so when i got this game i didn't know that it would be so awful. you can do surgery on people with bullets extreme precision to help them with dental jaw surgery (is surgery designed to correct conditions of the jaw and lower face related to structure, growth, airway issues including sleep apnea, TMJ disorders, malocclusion problems primarily arising from skeletal disharmonies, other orthodontic dental bite problems that cannot be easily treated with braces, as well as the broad range of facial imbalances, disharmonies, asymmetries and malproportions where correction can be considered to improve facial aesthetics [1] and self esteem. ) source: wikipedia

A surprisingly hardcore stealth experience, especially on the highest difficulty.
Authentic plus will tingle your perfectionism, one error can spell disaster and sometimes the perfect run hinges on that one shot.

On top of being an amazing stealth game it functions surprisingly well as a standard action-shooter, which the game will inevitably devolve into on your first mission attempts.

MASSIVE improvement from Sniper Elite 3. Better (larger) environments, better graphics, better enemy AI, better story, better weapons. There are still some rough edges: can still get caught on environment at odd moments, some textures are oddly low-res, and sometimes enemies will run right past you - but Sniper Elite 4 is where the Sniper Elite series matured to near-AAA status. There is campaign co-op and the campaign DLC adds a good amount of new content. 8/10
Total size on my hard-drive: 67 GB

Odd side-note: Sniper Elite 4 wouldn't launch (DX12) if I had GOG Galaxy open in the background.

The menus are confusing to me, the game cannot remember where you are in it if you switch between co-op and solo play and all the good weapons will cost you more money to use. Upgrading your weapon entails doing certain things like being a certain distance away while killing a particular amount of enemies, which in the case of rifle I like the most, the G43, makes upgrading it a pain because it's not a long range weapon. My favorite SMG, the Bly is gone. Rebellion has let us down since NZA (Zombie Army Trilogy).

This game is quite boring and i had to force myself to finish it. The story is not interesting at all, you don't care about any of the characters in the game. It's basically the same as the last one with different and more beautiful levels.

I would not recommend this repetitive game, unless you're a hardcore fan.

Great game, maps are pretty big, multiple ways to do missions (stealth or assault) plenty of achievements to get as well as steam cards to get and badges to craft.

The DLC's are pretty good, one of them you get to kill Hitler (again) while there is 3 DLC campaign that are pretty lengthy and fun.

The bullet cam is great, the gore and body systems have been knocked up a notch (best to date)
Once you beat a level, you can redo them as a different character (female characters still talk like the main character lol).

Worth it if you have enjoyed any of the previous sniper elite games.

Best sniper game in the market. You will have lots of fun with that game

+Detailed x-ray cameras, you also have melee and trap x-ray cams. Best side of this game
+Huge levels and game is long enough
+Tasty Italy environment, even small objects looking cool
+They have fixed broken features from previous game such as stealth. Now you can carry bodies without having trouble
+There are bushes and their effectiveness is great
+Enemy ai is much better than other sniper games and its enough to give tolerances on some minus sides
+Now you have supressor, if you have supported riflr or pistol, you can use supressed ammo
+Lots of weapons and you can upgrade them
+Equipment system is also improved, you can use alternative method on every equipment like normal grenade and sticky
+Throwing rock is consistent, plus you can whistle to distract enemies to draw your current position
+Gameplay is fun overall, there are snipers around the maps, enemies are well placed, different enemy types, binocular is nice
+Amazing graphics. They know what they are doing
+Ballistics
+Covers
+Menu ui is probably best, options as well
+Too many alternative ways to finish level, lots of side quests

-Story is cliche USA things again
-Co-op system is nice but you will not have melee x-ray, imagine you are playing this game with your friend for only 1 time and you are not getting that feature for no reason. There are bullet and trap cams yes but thats it. Huge shame for co op
-DLC crazy game, as expected from Rebellion.

If you can catch discount with huge discount go for it. Because there are 4 dlc s, each one is 1 huge level and they are good. Best sniper experience you can find. Do not think to play sniper elite 3 garbage. Go with this one. Dont forget to make command line on steam in order to play with your monitors refresh rate. Check pcgamingwiki for that.

Whats more fun than watching real time shooting someone in the balls lol? If you havent played the sniper series this is one of the best if not the best. Along with the DLC and multiplayer this is the best of the best. You can shoot a nade mid air over someone and blow their head off.. Ok dont get me started on the ways to kill people in this game lol. They went out of their way to get cruel and its just fun try it out.

This is an excellent game, great for a nice relaxing session.
The only thing I disliked was the small number of missions available. I understand that they are extremely detailed and therefore require a lot of time and effort to develop but more would be nice. Maybe a tool to allow people to build their own levels?

Would recommend if you like to have the choice between slow paced and well thought out execution of a mission or fast and more on the fly. It thrives when it comes to the former but the latter is possible. Either way, would recommend 9/10.

Sniper Elite 4 is simply a wonderful stealth combat game. It has the perfect blend of story, action, strategy, and history, all within a beautifully rendered world. Each level requires at least a little planning, and offers multiple optional objectives or challenges to pursue. Along the way you'll also customize your kit and gain new skills earned from experience. Two of my favorite things about the game are the wide variety of medals earned from combat, and the many options for navigating through the maps.

Tried to love the game but its a rollercoaster of good and bad moments.
The narration of the game is soo bland that i felt detached from the story the whole time.
Open World element better in comparison to Sniper Elite 3 so kudos for that.

[THINGS I LIKED]

1. Nicely made game. I think this is the best sniping experience that you can get as of date.
2. Wide range of sniping rifles with lots of mastering to do
3. Well thought of scenarios
4. You can play this game like a real sniper or go for ALL BANG!
5. The videos of bullets cracking through skull or testicles is interesting to watch but may get boring after some time. I have it switched off in my settings. I play lot of multiplayer and do not want that interfering with the gameplay.
6. I really liked the ghillie suit (Part of DLC). That really helps me be a part of the foliage and knife an unsuspecting enemy. More fun to use it in multiplayer games.
7. The multiplayer game offers you 10 base maps which can be tweaked to play different scenarios for example Death Match, Team Death Match, Capture the Flag etc.
8. I loved the Authentic Plus Mode (With Bullet Drop and Wind). Once you get used to this, you may not like playing any other mode.

[THINGS I DID NOT LIKE]

1. The Game has lot of bugs/glitches. This becomes a PITA especially in the multiplayer when people take advantage of it.
2. The ability to shoot long distances without aiming. One may argue that they do aim but right clicking to briefly open the scope and then left clicking to shoot is not aiming. You cannot do that in real life.
3. The ability to spin and shoot. This is really stupid. Again, something which you cannot do in real life.
4. Spawn Points. Your teammate can block a spawn point. Because of this your entire team spawns at that same place. Then it is like shooting ducks in a barrel.

[WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE BELOW]

1. More multiplayer maps. It becomes quite boring to play the same map again and again for so many years

[SUGGESTION]

1. Do not buy this game at full price. Not worth it. Wait for the sale and then buy. And during the sale get all the DLC. It is really worth it!
2. Play the campaign map first before playing multiplayer. Get used to your rifle and the gameplay first else you will get lost in multiplayer and finally may give up the game in frustration.
3. Please do not blindly follow the Youtube videos. The most common mistake that newbies do is go to places shown in those videos and get killed by pros.
4. Have an open Steam Profile (Especially the gaming hours). Ensure you do not have VAC/Game Bans. Else you will not be able to play in most of the servers.

One of my favorite shooting games. Maps and building are detailed. I give a 9/10 for the graphics even thought I was playing on low graphic settings for smooth FPS. 8/10 for the ballistic mechanism but playing in normal difficulties (when using slow motion skill) u must aim until the red indicator show up to killed an enemy or not they will survive which is unrealistic. 8/10 for the overall game.

Highly recommended to buy Sniper Elite 4 - Deluxe Edition, this will unlocked all DLC and also wait for the discount.

A higher budget Sniper Elite with some juicy x-ray cam kills and lots of gravely american monologues. Plenty of weapons on offer, sound design is real damn good.

Edit: It seems the guy you play as, Karl Fairburne, shares the same voice actor who was Not Important from Hatred, lmao.

Whether you like putting hole in the enemy's head or bursting his testicles or killing enemies in stealth, SE4 is definitely worth it. Its gr8 visuals and ok story shud be enough to make u play it.????????

The fourth installment in the Sniper franchise. Clean and crisp graphics, good sound effects, co-op play is available along with competive multiplayer. It's a blast to play and rewards stealthy actions over kill everything in sight. Very enjoyable with a high replay value. Recommended!

This game is pure fun. It's like Hitman-lite in a WW2 setting. You can play however you want: stealth, rambo, or a mix of both. Huge, beautiful sandbox levels with tons of enemies, supplies, and hideouts.

The deluxe edition is worth it for the 4 extra levels. Get it on sale.

The X ray is satisfying better than MK11 tbh
The locations are beautiful and details are amazing. The game mechanics includes setting bobby traps,shooting explosives, accident kills and stealth which is amazing.

I really enjoyed both the Stealth and Shooting mechanics of this game

Quite a good game, I enjoyed most of the missions. The locations are gorgeous and well designed, wonderful landscapes. Tons of ways to kill enemies and complete missions. The X-Ray bullet kill cam is great, makes for some pretty hilarious kills.

But why is half the content locked behind a paywall? Every time you go into the loadout be like...

You want to use the M30? Sorry, you got to pay extra for it. Oh, you want the MKIII instead? Its okay, give us moar money and you'll get it.

That camo looks great, I want to wear it. Oh, wait, I can't use it... Every. Fucking. Time.

Everything is locked behind paid DLCs... Sorry, but I hate that shit. I'm not recommending it, even tho its a good game.

Game is far from linear and you can opt to either stealth a whole level, go loud, or kill almost no-one. Controls are pretty clunky and will need at least a day to feel like you have control over the game. This is definitely great for a challenging, stealth experience, any point that you mess up in even normal difficulty is hard to recover perfectly. Combat is OK when going loud, but game is built for stealth, but still doesn't feel fully fleshed out and not hitting a head shot can mean the difference between doing the level perfect or dying and frustratingly having to restart from a checkpoint because the whole German army gets sent on you head for alerting a guard.

75% of people have the achievement for completing the first mission but only 30% have the achievement for completing the campaign. Most likely, if you buy this, you won't like it enough to see it through.

Certainly the best entry in the Sniper Elite series.

Pros :

- Very large and lively levels, filled with around 100 NPCS on average, sometimes more, sometimes less, endless fun!
- A rarely explored setting in WW2 media : the Italian front. The game delivers even more as it doesn't focus on Southern Italy alone , but also takes the player to the north of the country, with even some snowy levels wich contrast nicely against the sunny fishing villages of the South, the DLCs even take you to Santorin (Greece) and a Bavarian town.
- A large arsenal of rifles, SMG's, shotguns and pistols, with a ton of different gadgets to atomize some poor Germans.
- An interractive environment, filled with explosives, wooden platforms to destroy under enemy feet, and crates to drop on the head of some pesky italian fascists.
- And of course, the amazing killcam, wich allows you to watch precisely what damage you caused to the body of your enemies, now working with explosives, bringing some awesome shrapnel fun.
- Relatively intelligent AI (but only if you play in other difficulties than Rookie). They flank, change of positions during combat, do not have aimbots but aren't poor shooters either, will always work in groups instead of running in every direction like headless chickens.
- The Allied Intel feature is not something very important, but it's guaranteed to give you some laughs, or entertain you as the bios of multiple soldiers are sometimes linked. It's always a pleasure to piece together a story by progressing in the levels.

Cons :

- A very forgettable story, none of the characters are interesting. Only the player, Karl Fairburne, is likeable, but at the end of the day he's just another John McBadass.
- The graphics are not ugly, far from it, but they certainly could have been better, especially when you compare the game to the others that were released in the same year.
- A disgusting monetization system. While the base arsenal of weapons is large enough to keep you entertained for a long time, the fact that the other half of the availabe weaponry can only be purchased with mini-DLCs is disgusting. The story DLCs also should be much cheaper, considering they're basically only one level each.

After playing Sniper Elite v2 Remastered and Sniper Elite 3, hopes were high on Sniper Elite 4, and this is game is just awesome.......love the Medal system, mastery skin unlocking and game play mechanics, everything is just at its best. 10/10, i recommend even if its not on sale :)

I'd say the game is perfect if you have a good pc. First person and third person shooter game with alot of snipers to buy. Multiplayer is fun as long as you don't have a toxic friend. I rate this game 9/10. I'd like to buy the season pass but I'm pretty busy with money right now. The game shouldn't be for kids, because it has gore, world war 2 feelings and as I said gore if you shoot someone in the head with some special settings the bullet shows how it breaks they're skull and goes through they're brain indicating what the bullet does to a human. Cheers this game is amazing.

If your looking for an interesting story with a satisfying conclusion, or if character development is important to you then Sniper Elite 4 is not for you. However if you like creeping around a killing unsuspecting Nazis from afar, you should definitely play this game. The enemy AI is smart. You have to plan your attacks in advance, keep moving and don't underestimate their ability to find you. Bottom line, it's great fun. I encountered no bugs, and with the DLCs I got over 80 hours of play time.

a good game to play where the pace is up to you. for new players it takes a little bit of time to pick up and get used to the controls but once you have them down, it becomes second nature. Its a good challenge and decision making is crucial, the simplest decisions may get you in sticky situations. The xray shots are very cool and the game helps you evolve as a player, if you are able to make the most of the little things that are available to help you along the way.

Sniper Elite 4 delivers the best experience of the series to date. The hub area provides excellent motivation prior to each mission and these interactions elevate many characters, including Karl Fairburne and the adventures you experience through him. This allowed me to get more invested in some of the optional missions throughout the campaign, signifying a huge leap forward for the series because the path you take truly becomes your own. Sometimes it felt like knowing enemy positions was a lot easier because of the radar, but this ended up creating many more opportunities for unique strategic play. With so many improvements and one of the most emotional conclusions to the campaign, the bar has definitely been set high for any future sequels. If you want to play a sniper campaign that represents the greatest of its kind, then remember that all it takes is a spark. Game on.

I do a play through a few times a year. I would give it 8 to 9 out of 10. My biggest group is there is no Sniper Elite 5. This is one of the best sniper games of all time. Buy it.

Sniper Elite 4 is a World War 2 third-person shooter, that has larger maps, than the previous games, which gives you far more freedom to move around and seek out your targets. The singleplayer, co-op and competitive modes offers tactical combat and mind breaking decisions, where the player must sneak, hide and eliminate enemies in various ways. Some of the new changes that Sniper Elite 4 has compared to the previous games in the franchise: The campaign levels are far, far bigger, new climbing mechanics, new ways to kill, dozens of new weapons and items and boosted X-Ray kill cams for melee, explosions, and shooting.

In the singleplayer campaign missions you are dropped into large maps somewhere in Italy during World War 2, where you are on your own against a bunch of soldiers who guard multiple primary and secondary objectives. At your disposal is a pair of binoculars to tag enemies with, a sniper rifle, an SMG and a pistol. You also carry medkits, mines or satchel charges.

Co-op has 3 separate modes:
Overwatch, where one player is the sniper while the other is a spotter. The campaign is a two player co-op, and finally the 4 player co-op survival mode, where the players must defend a radio listening station that rotates every couple of waves.

The competitive part of the game has also become much more enjoyable, because of the larger maps that gives the players more space to move around before getting spotted. The only negative I can mention is, that the developers only made a few maps after releasing the game, exactly what happened after the release of Sniper Elite V2 and Sniper Elite 3. Instead of making new maps and content in order to keep the game alive, nothing was done and personally speaking the maps has become very repetitive and boring.

The Sniper Elite 4 missions are all fictional, and do not authentically recreate any actual sniper operations from World War 2. But speaking history, then it was true, that the Germans secret weapon was a radio-controlled missile and did in fact exist, which the Germans developed and deployed without Allied interference.

What I personally liked about Sniper Elite 4 is, that the maps are larger, which also gives more realism with the whole idea of sniping.

Good things:

It is the fourth game in the series and it is the best one in the series and the best sniper game. The story in the game is great as you are in Italy during World War II and your enemy are Nazi Germans and also Fascist Italians. Many people don’t remember Benito Mussolini and how Italy was supporting and helping Hitler and Germany during World War II.

The great thing is that maps are huge and have many levels thanks to different heights in parts of the map. There are many different collectibles and they make you feel more immersed in the game as you read many letters that show how different many of the Nazi soldiers and Italians soldiers were. These collectibles makes the game world feel more alive and real. And while in Sniper Elite 3 disappearing bodies were a problem in Sniper Elite 4 they fixed that problem and no body disappear if there is anything you can loot from that body so if you took an collectible from that body and a grenade but there is 1 ammo left on that body that body will be there and will only disappear after there is nothing in that body and you did kill about 10 more guys somewhere else and reload the game many times. This means you can play like a real sniper and snipe many enemies from a safe distance and only after the area is clear go in and loot everything you can without fear of loosing collectibles.

The graphic is great and I could not stop to admire the ocean or the grass and bushes I was hiding in. Gameplay is the best in the series because they added many pipes and chains and other things that let you climb up and down on the map and that really makes the game better with all the heights you can get to to plan your next move and it makes this game more tactical about who to kill and where to do it. The sound is also great for all weapons and everything. Enemy AI is good and enemies try to group on you and flank and storm your position to flush you out and kill you and even call for support or drop an artillery strike on your head.

At the start of each mission you can pick what weapons you take with you and you can even make 4 sets for different opportunities. That is great but they also added one more great thing that was not in other Sniper Elite games. They added skills so now every few levels you can decide what skill you want based on how you like to play. Like I picked a skill that make me take less damage from falling from higher places and being able to faster defuse mines and other traps while someone who prefer more run and gun Rambo style gameplay would prefer to pick having more healing from bandages and getting 50% less damage from explosives.

As it is a staple for this game series camera track the bullet to see where we did hit the enemy and also shows x-rays to show us what bones and/or organs were hit but now it is the best representation showing the real damage that a bullet does not some crazy damage that Sniper Elite 3 was showing.

Bad things:

Something new that I don’t like is suppressed ammo or at least the way it was implemented. It is a special ammo that is hard to find and only a few bullets at a time and it is made to be used only with a silencer. But if you would have a silencer on your weapon you should also be able to use normal ammo with it. It would make sense if you would have a silencer on sniper rifle and normal ammo would be a little louder than the suppressed ammo. But instead of that before you use suppressed ammo you put a silencer on your weapon to use it… and it makes no sense! If you have a silencer for your sniper riffle in your pocket why would you not put it on your rifle and use it all the time? I understand it is a choice made because of mechanic of the game but it makes no sense to put on a silencer on your weapon and shot 10 silenced shots and than take that silencer off your rifle and hide it in your pocket to shot next shots without it and get detected by enemies while you could just use the silencer all the time.

A bad thing is I think that there are weapon DLCs and one of that DLC is a must to buy if you want to finish the game on the highest difficulty as it contains the only sniper rifle with a silencer and the best gun with a silencer and that 2 weapons mean you will never need any other weapons. That DLC gives you Delisle Carbine that has silencer in it but can use normal ammo with the same sound and the same way other rifles use suppressed ammo making it the best weapon in the game if you don’t want to ever be detected. But it also shows the lack of logic in putting on silencers and taking that silencers off with other rifles.

Conclusion

If you want to play a game where you can be a real sniper this is the best game you can get. This game really lets you to snipe someone from across the map and to use heights to your advantage and to hide bodies so enemies won’t even know you were there.

It's the best in the series. The open concept really helps open up the options for shooting Nazis in the testicles. The Italian setting is a nice change from the previous games. Collecting the documents is a little tedious, but over all the story and game play were satisfactory. 7/10 overall!

Excellent game.

Here are some thoughts:

*The maps are excellent and expansive. You can take your time to find the best sniper nests and really plan your attacks.
*You can charge into a machine gun fight, but it often won't go well if you're trading shots against multiple enemies. The stealth system is really well-made. You can use silenced weapons, quietly stab or snap necks and hide bodies, or you can use environmental sounds to mask your rifle shots.
*Co-op is good fun, but it can be hard to find other players.
*There are always multiple ways to complete missions. This, along with the different sets of weapon options, makes them game more re-playable.
*There are fun single player challenges at a shooting range and also lasting as long as you can against an endless hoard of enemies.
*The DLC maps are really good, though it would be good to see more maps available.
*The difficulty options are really accommodating - you can have the game hold your hand with simple shots or you can play with the challenge of needing to consider wind and distance.
*The AI system might not be perfect, but it works well in this game and sets up a nice challenge.
*Interactions with environment are a solid improvement over Sniper Elite 3 (which is still a great game).

Just finished this game and i can tell you it's SO much fun. It's way better than SE3, the location is what really makes the whole difference (Italy is a great choice tbh) and also the maps are bigger, and the x-ray kill cams are more brutal, which is great since you're killing nazis. 100% would recommend it on a 35%+ sale (definite buy on a sale).

I recommend it for the gameplay, audio, and graphics quality; so for that reason alone you can probably do without the DLC and still have a grand time of it. The DLC is pretty cool, HOWEVER, you still have to pay extra for the locked weapons. This I could normally live with, but again HOWEVER, I ran into a weird glitch recently where a previously unlocked Soviet PPD-40 machine gun (my favorite weapon in the game) which I had unlocked was *locked again* after I had grinded my way through the in-game points system to unlock the danged thing. I don't know what happened there exactly, but I was very annoyed by this. The Tommy Gun is okay, but them Russians knew how to build some good weapons back in the day when the German Army had given them a lot of incentive to do so!

Other than that nonsense, the game controls great via mouse/keyboard or gamepad with only some minor tweaking done to both. I play the game on my PS4 Pro too, so I prefer using the gamepad due to my familiarity with the control buttons which required zero button-mapping outside of the default settings, but the mouse/keyboard method definitely has its advantages for those of us that still PCMR.

Some of the campaign map areas are HUGE, which provides you with hours of entertainment via run & gun Nazi-killing and cat & mouse hunting, laying traps, etc. These maps dwarf the previous game's maps by as much as 4 times the scale factor. You will have a lot of fun just running around and enjoying the scenery while you're busily and methodically wiping out the slime of humanity!

This game is based on true events during WWII. The best way to complete missions is going stealth, but it's kinda impossible, cuz there are enemies everywhere. If you Luke strategy and you are interested in history, this game is for you. There are just 8 missions, so you can complete the whole game in 10 hours, but it's worth it.

Good head-exploding fun. Not as stealthy-based as I hoped but fun nonetheless. Sometimes it just makes sense to run head on and kill dudes and complete the mission... but good enough.

Great game if want a sandbox'ish, stealth, sniping game. Good graphics. Some bugs here and there. Smart AI at times. Light is a factor, sound is a factor, line of site is a factor, weapon power is a factor, hit location is a factor, bullet impact sound is a factor. Fairly deep mechanics, imho. Once you get around 60% of the way through, you'll fully understand the mechanics. After that, you can increase your speed a bit. If want to stealth it, each level is a few hours (on hard).

I was pleasantly surprised by this game. I never played a Sniper Elite game before, but this felt a lot like Splinter Cell set in WWII, but with more of a sandbox feel. The story is typical video game-y stuff, so you better like the mechanics or else you'll get bored fast.

There are a lot of weapons but you hardly need to change them. Sound is the biggest factor for stealthing it, so use silent ammo or the silenced rifle and silenced pistol(s).

Great continuation of Sniper Elite. New story, new weapons, enchaced graphics, perfectly balanced gameplay. Find some1 to play with and try this game on highest difficulty. Trust me, it will be an absolutely unique experience :). DLC is also pretty good, defiently worth another $5.

Good fun, but on everything but the hardcore difficulties aim assist makes it too easy to clear the map from extreme range. I played through on sniper elite difficulty (includes aim assist) and that was sort of a challenge, but mainly because you can get overrun when the enemies figure out your location or you run low on ammo. It is annoying on hardcore that enemy snipers can find you hiding in bushes 300m away and hit you with their mediocre rifles. But the graphics are gorgeous (and the killshots gruesome) and the scenery is jaw-dropping. Still enjoying myself on the second playthrough. Nothing beats stalking enemy snipers and getting them before they get you. As for playstyle, you can go stealth mode and bypass enemies, but that leaves you with nowhere to retreat if you get in a jam.
